We were told by our hotel concierge that this was the way to see all the sites in downtown Saint Augustine. So we shell out 180 bucks. We take a beach trolley downtown where we get our stickers for hop on and hop off the trolley as we see the sites. Well, here's the thing, people will never get off so you can't get on!!! We paid $180 for zero rides because the trolleys were always full! And we had to spend $45 to uber back to our hotel! This is a complete and total rip off! read more

It's a National Monument and the oldest masonry fort in the continental US. Grab dinner at Prohibition Kitchen or fill up on handmade Belgian waffles and milkshakes at @cousteauswaffles (very Instagrammable AND delicious). Around sunset, take advantage of golden hour then blue hour to enjoy the twinkling lights! This is the best time to photograph them before it gets too dark. Took my out-of-town guests on the trolley tour yesterday. The tour is hop on/hop off and takes about an hour and 45 minutes to complete 22 stops. Buying the tickets was an experience in how to decline the upsell. Want a little booklet for an extra five dollars that tells you where the bathrooms are? No thank you. Want to buy tours for an additional three dollars off? No thank you. Want the sales person to walk you through the map and circle every one of the stops and tell you what those are without you asking? No thank you. The tour guide was lovely. Very good information, very knowledgeable and personable. I appreciate that he gave the safety warning at every stop and also asked people to keep their side conversations to a low volume so that everyone could hear the tour. Pros: hopping on/off is a great benefit if you want to explore in between rides. Cons: so so many stops.... It felt like all we were doing was driving 100 yards and stopping again. It really cut down on the amount of information that the tour guide was able to relay compared to the Red Train Trolly, which we usually take for this reason. The train filled up quickly and the majority of people at the stops had to wait for another train. Overheard lots of grumbling, but the conductor did call for additional trains at every stop. Super expensive. $44 each. Parking is extra. Overall, not a bad experience. Choose your train wisely based on what your intentions are. If you just want the tour, take the other one. If you want to hop on and off, this is the one for you. Side note... No senior or military discount offered. read more

This is a MUST when you come to St - Augustine. We've done this tour every visit and it never gets old! We picked up our tickets the night before and opted to hop on at stop 11 since it was close to our rental apartment. Maps are given when you purchase your ticket of the travel route and makes it convenient to plan accordingly. If you are a senior and/or military, let them know, discounts available! Summer! Summer was our awesome driver; great personality, funny, quick witted and we got lots of history. I like that it's cheeky humor mixed with history and a little bit of spicy personality. This is NOT a Disney tour, it's better! With 12 stops on the map from The Fountain of Youth, The Oldest House, Distillery, or downtown area; wherever you stop, that's where you'll be to picked back up the next trolley! My second time at Saint Augustine and doing this trolley tour and it won't be last! Just a warning do not purchase anything through Groupon because they are thieves and it's cheaper to do it through the kiosk. They take forever to process the voucher and it's more expensive and if they don't process it for a while and you end up buying from the kiosk, they will not refund you just a hint. There are quiet few stops and the guide always explains what each stop is and the history behind it. By far, Summer the tour was outstanding! She was so bubbly, sweet, and funny! Bought a one-day hop on/off pass to see downtown St. Augustine. We all agree that we feel we have seen the area & know which spots to return to for other adventures. The guides provide a nice overview of the history as we pass it. The traffic got pretty bad after 4pm and we just sat on the trolley while the guide tried to keep us entertained. We only got off on one stop for the chocolate tour, but a lot of people got off there for the distillery tour as well. Fun experience, a bit repetitive (a lot of the stops were about half a block from each other and we doubled back constantly), and a little $$ considering pretty much every stop was not included. read more

Went for a tour of St August with Jim. He gave a great tour, giving out facts and tidbits of history down every street we turned. What a great way to see all of Downtown St. Augustine! It does do frequent stops, especially close to St. George st. It's a great way to map out places to go, it takes you all around and the trolly drivers are friendly. (You'll do a lot if Waking otherwise and there's a few things that are not walking distance). Highly recommend if you want to see a lot in a shorter time. If you do not get off it is about an hour round trip. Parking is half off with purchase of trolly near St. George st & free by the jail, but that is not close, its aways. Overall, glad we took it! read more

You can hop on and off as you want, though I recommend traveling to all the stops & then deciding where you'd like to go back through and your. We paid $240 for five people to ride & it wasn't worth half of what we paid. Trying to understand the route & find the trolley stops, could've been easier. We were told the trolleys would come every 15 minutes; but we would be at a stop for much longer than that & then when a trolley did come, it was so packed, you couldn't get on. So we would walk to the next stop & the same would happen. We finally got on the trolley & some of our party had to sit on the ADA seats because that was what was left. Few stops later, we had to give up the seats for those that needed it. Which is totally understandable, however, there were no other seats for us so we then had to get off at a stop we didn't want. We finally just gave up on it because we were already frustrated with circling the same spots on the tour multiple times, the long wait times only to not have a seat, & the confusing layout of the stops. I wish I could get a refund because I feel like we were scammed. Learn from our mistakes & research other smaller tours & avoid this company. They clearly only care about quantity of tickets they sell & not the quality of the ride once they get your money. -5/5 stars read more

Usually when we stay in a new touristy place for a couple of days, we start off with a trolley tour and St. Augustine was no exception. It gives us the lay of the land, provides some good info on the sights and lets us plan the rest of what we'd like to see and do during the rest of the stay. They have a lot of trolleys and there is usually another one right around the corner, if you decide to hop on and hop off. All the drivers/guides were informative and humorous. Not cheap, but worth it to get a good overview of the sites of St. Augustine. read more

Mixed reviews based on the day of your tour. We took guests on a Tuesday and truly enjoyed the tour and the hop on/hop off feature of the tour. We then repeated the tour on a Saturday, which was SO busy, we should have been told do not get off the trolley as you won't get back on. The tour company did stand behind their lack of service and compensate us, but they won't do this regularly and really need to limit riders or get more trolleys on weekends. read more

If you want to let someone else do the driving while you can enjoy the sites and learn about the history of Saint Augustine. This is a good way to do that. This is a hop on hop off, trolley, with multiple stops. There are 21 stops in fact that it makes, and you can get off of the trolley at anytime and rejoin the trolley at any time which makes it a good deal. The drivers provide a continuous informative narrative as you go along. At their main location you will find free parking and the trolley takes you to the the historic district, where parking is extremely limited and competitive and requires a fee to park for a limited three hours block of time. This saves you some of that frustration and it letting someone else do the driving and learning about places that you might want to visit on your own based upon the information received. The ticket for the trolley also includes discounted and free admission to various other historic sites, such as the old jail, an old store, and a few other things. The trolleys are shaded, which helps the circumvent some of the Florida heat. A round trip without getting off of the trolley is approximately 90 minutes. We found this a nice use of our time and getting to know the city. It's nice to talk with the people in your party without them having to worry about managing traffic, especially in an unfamiliar setting. It's also nice to learn about the history in such a convenient way. We highly recommend it. read more

We are pretty much done with the hop on hop off gig. We rode the entire trip as some of the places we wanted to visit were closed. The open air trams are 3 cars long, the streets super narrow and most of the sites are in such a small radius, that we traveled the same streets over and over again. It was dizzying. The operator kept reminding us that this was a narrated tour so we basically better be quiet. That's fine except most of the time we couldn't hear him. It's funny that we passed some restaurants/establishments that we had already visited and the outstanding accolades thrown at us by the driver did not sit well. (As we did not have favorable experiences.) In fact, one of the eateries that came so highly recommended was a complete bomb. Ugh! The seats were tight and extremely uncomfortable regardless of an individuals' size. Cannot even imagine if the tram would have been completely full during our entire trip. It was warm, but not hot and a cool breeze lingered. Frankly we were ready to get off a lot sooner than the tour ended, but our vehicle was parked at the main starting point. We, of course, did not have issues finding a seat, as we never hopped off, but we understand the pain others have experienced. Our Washington D.C. experiences were dismal and there its miles you have to walk not blocks to the next stop. We will stick with the smaller more intimate tours in the future. read more

We got on at stop 17 and we sat in the row where only 2 people can sit. There were no signs telling us it's reserved for handicap nor did the tolleyman tell us any different. We got to the trolley station n drivers were changed. Her name was alexis or alexi, she was a heavy set dark haired white female. We got to stop 3 on the tour n someone in a scooter was getting on. This driver told us we needed to get iff the trolley due to a passenger needing our seats. We were kicked off with no where else to sit!! We paid just as everyone else. There were 2 seats available behind the driver and since she knew she was gonna kick us off she should've offered those seats to us before she let new people from the stop jump in them. Here we are now having to walk. This was absolutely absurd. This driver was very rude and said well this is the handicap seats. Well there should be a reserved sign so people know before hand not to sit there. I'm very dissapointed on this service. read more
