This was great, the old jail and little museum you get admissions to as part of your trolly ticket were fun and the staff/actors did a great job engaging with guests kid and adult alike. This was a fun activity while my aunt and uncle were visiting from out of town. I am new to Jacksonville, so I am still learning St. Augustine. My boyfriend and I have walked through a couple of times, but mostly just shopped/ate and didn't focus on the history. I saw these trolleys everywhere and knew it would be the perfect way for us to get around when my relatives were in town. We parked at the big parking garage ($15) and went in the visitors center. I told them we would like 3 tickets for the trolley and the price was something like $120! I was stunned! I literally thought this ride would be $15-$20 per person. Insane for a hop on/ hop off trolley tour through about 1 square mile. I will preface this that I was absolutely the youngest person on this tour, but I thought the trolley guides were kind of cheesy. We did get some great history of the oldest city. I didn't anticipate how bumpy this ride would be on the old cobblestone streets. We hopped off and back on at the same point so we heard 2 different drivers speak about the street we were on. They were both really different, so I think your experience depends on which driver you get. Best option for cheaply seeing the town. Free parking at main stop. Their secondary locations rip you off on daily parking. Drivers vary on tour information. Too much time is spent taking you to tourist traps or pushing tickets that they make commission on. From ripleys believe it or not or the scams at their location oldest store or old jail. It beats the red train. Every employee tried to sell us tickets. This is absolutely the best way to see historic St. Augustine. It is a little pricy, however with your ticket purchase they offer discounts at a number of stops and museums. The only reason why I graded a 4 stars is because their route seems strange and out of place at times. They seem to make a number of circles and drive by landmarks more than once or pass a landmark only to comeback to it later. With that said, we had the best driver. Her name was Pepper and she drove the Hot Tamale Trolly. She had so much info to share and spoke directly to those on her trolly. I even saw her give directions to a car that was stopped next to her trolly. I have done a few hop on hop off tours and this one might be one of the best and Pepper along with her fun spirit made it and enjoyable ride and history lesson of the oldest city in the United States. read more

Went on the Trolley tours with hubby during our St. Augustine vacation. Very nice. We were able to buy our tickets at the hotel we were staying at. Otherwise there are Trolley tour booths all over the place in St. Augustine where they can be purchased as well as being purchased online. Takes about 90 minutes or so and you are able to get on/off throughout the various different sites. The map provides the different sites where the bus stops among other things. The trolley is helpful to be able to see various parts of the city without having the hassle of driving. We paid about $38 ticket at the hotel. Parking is free where you pick up the trolly at the Old Jail. Overall I would recommend! read more

The tour guide added zero information. We took the 7:30 lights tour on 4 Dec. he played Christmas music loud and gave no narrative. When I say no narrative I mean zero. We took the same tour last year and brought friends this time. Last year the tour was great with the driver providing awesome historical information. This year total dud. On our weekend getaway to St. Augustine, we had Troy and Summer as our tour guides/drivers. We enjoyed Troy so very much. He was engaging and hospitable. Summer had a lot of knowledge, but would literally call people out for talking. At one point I turned to my husband and asked quietly, what place is this? She said she could hear our conversation and we needed to be quiet. She did this to at her tourists in the middle car as well. This made several of us feel very uncomfortable. We were all adults. As a newly arrived vacationer in St. Augustine, I didn't know anything about the town, except that it offered tours on this trolley. I made a beeline to it and parked in their free parking lot, knowing I'd be there most of the day. The tour itself runs about $30 per patron and includes something like 20 stops that you can jump on or off at throughout the length of the day, up to about 4:30. The guides that we experienced were very knowledgeable about the town and its history as well as its businesses. I've been on other tours where you wonder why you paid what you did. This is a transport and a lesson simultaneously. The staff were very helpful, filling you in on the locations and events offered. The business even offers multiple different types of tours that you can add to your Trolley tour, like a tour of the Christmas lights, Haunted History tours and discounted additions to other museums in the area. The Trolley base itself is one continuous museum, with an old jail, old store and other things nearby including a gift shop. On the way to the bathroom tucked in the back of the store, you pass by a collection of old time arcade games like I've never seen. I'm not talking about Pacman or Galaga, but the kind that test your strength, or your love quotient or maybe that read your fortune. You know. That kind. As it was, the tour was a great way to get to know St. Augustine and to learn where I wanted to return with more time on my hands. We got off within the first four stops - mostly because of the proximity to a distillery. We then spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon wandering through town, shopping, sightseeing and eating. When it came to the end of the day, we returned to the jump off spot to get back on. This is when the problems started. The next trolley easily took 1/2 hour to arrive, by which point the location was filled with people looking to re-enter the trolley. THere is no control, or organized queue for this process, so it can degenerate to a pushing and cutting system in order to get a seat. In fact, it became concerning enough that we decided not to disembark once we were back on, just for the concern that it may not happen. Truthfully, I'm glad we did it. It was enjoyable and educational and a great way to get introduced to the city. If I were to do it again, I'd probably lean towards something like the haunted tour or something of the like to see a different side of the city. read more

I was told to post a reviewing saying "Summer was the best." but that is simply untrue. Summer was in fact NOT the best. I'm not sure what type of training your guides take for driving but she needs many more hours worth if training. she was flooring it at every green light. has people in other cars and on sidewalks yelling at her to slow down. And worse, it was raining and she'd be spinning the tires and going around turns at excess speeds. Throughout the tour, Summer (was NOT awesome) continued to make crude sexual remarks (poorly delivered jokes) over and over again. Keep in mind this should be a family friendly tour as there were kids all around. Do you really think a family attraction is the time for sexual content?? The tour was supposed to be 90 minutes but she ended up taking over two hours. her stories were bland and rather pointless. At each stop she'd spend 4-6 minutes just sitting and not engaging with the riders or anything. This was a very poor tour. I had a tour with your company two years ago and it was absolutely amazing. needless to say, it is not the company. but the driver. She kept begging for tips over and over again. We used this trolley all weekend and it got us around town without having to move our car from the hotel. All of the tour guides were friendly, informative, and did a great job explaining what each stop was. There was plenty of room for people getting on at each stop. Had a great night listening to Christmas songs and showing relatives Saint Augustine for the first time on Christmas night. We purchased the no wait tickets in advance and it only took a few minutes to get on the trolly. The kids and big kids had fun with the snowman glasses. These glasses turn lights into different colored snowmen based on the color light you are looking at. The tour guide who recently became a Grandfather for the 1st time was very friendly and helped make the ride around Saint Augustine even more enjoyable. If you are in St Augustine especially on Christmas this "Look at the Christmas lights" trolley is a must do event. Don't forget the free hot apple cider and cookie after the ride. Cute and charming...a fun way to relax while touring the St Augustine area. You get a good glimpse of the attractions around. From the old school house, the chocolate factory, oldest house, into the main street area with many shops. The wax museum, the lion bridge, the hotel casa marina, the Flagler college and many others. The tour was very convenient, they give you a sticker to use and you get to hop off to see all the other attractions as you can easily hop back on at the bus stops. The trolley was spacious and can hold about more than 50 people. We were attached in sections which can be a bit scary because our chain kept getting unhinged. Though are section didn't fall apart it was a bit of a safety hazard. The speakers were a bit muffled. Though the driver did his best to give us an entertaining tour we mostly heard muffle sounds. Again, though the trolley stops at most landmarks we couldn't hear much. So I had to sadly give it three stars. read more

The trolley is a good way to see the sites, get familiar with Saint Augustine and learn a little history. You can stay on and enjoy the entire tour all at once or hop-on/hop-off. No two drivers are the same when it comes the tour...each one puts their spin on it. Please note the hours and there is free parking at the old jail. Everything is fairly close in St. Augustine, but if you get on the trolley at the jail, then it's a long walk from the historic center to the old jail area...so mind the time if you need to get back to your vehicle! In conjunction with the trolley, you can purchase tickets to other attractions and museums. The trolley also includes entrance to the St. Augustine History Museum. There are restrooms available before hopping on the trolley and there are snacks and drinks nearby as well. If you live in St Johns County you can sign up for the Hometown Pass which offers various discounts. On that note, in the month of September local St Johns County residents can ride free. However, this year they changed things and you had to register in advance. Unfortunately, they did not put this information on their website and chose to put it in the local free magazines (like Money for example) you may or may not receive...or may not read. Needless to say, there are some disappointed folks (and kids) this year since most don't learn of this change until they get to the ticket booth. Folks check the website for hours, changes, information and such, but this bit of info was missing, which is disappointing. So, if you are planning to go before September ends, please know the last time I looked there were no more tickets available for residents at the "resident pass" website I learned about from a staff member. They are quick to remind you of your hometown pass option & discounts if you have one. It's not the free September thing you may be looking forward to, but there are some perks. Please note the hometown pass can be used year around and it's not just valid in September. Note: This is one of two trolleys available in St. Augustine. read more
