Staff are friendly and flexible. I found them after a nearly tragic veterinary experience with the greater Temecula, Murrieta, Corona, and suburban Los Angeles clinics. While no practice is perfect, this is a good clinic and so far as I can tell still privately owned. While veterinary costs are generally insanely expensive, the $7-$8.00 per day premiums per pet that I pay for my fur family is better spent at the Old Town Veterinary Hospital than elsewhere. One note of experience: Regardless of the practice or your comfort level with an individual veterinary, ask questions until you personally understand what you are being told and until you are comfortable with the course of treatment. read more

I debated on writing this, but I was new to the area and the good reviews brought me to this location....but this decision would mean life or death for my sweet fur baby. Dr. Miller misdiagnosed my 2 year old on Thursday and everything in my gut said she was wrong....my girl was gone by Friday night/ Saturday morning. To say our family was absolutely devastated would be an understatement. "These things happen" was all I got...even though the cough didn't match to the diagnosis and her heart was not heard well. Coming from back ground of giant Breeds I found this strange considering my girl was 56lbs. A seasoned vet should have taken these things more seriously. At any rate they had no problem taking my money for the exam and meds my dead dog didn't need. All we got was a postcard. Thanks. We will not be trusting this place for anymore of our FAMILY members because they deserve better. And your fur babies do too. read more

Do not go to Old Town Vet. Dr. Miller misdiagnosed our dog for months. We brought our dog in with hind leg pain, she would whine when getting up. We thought she may have torn an acl in a hind leg but we couldn't be sure since she would run fine. Dr. Miller could only confirm that there was inflammation on the xray but was confident it was a torn acl so she tried to convince us to do acl surgery. We chose not to do surgery and decided to try rest and anti-inflammatory meds (carprofen). After a few months of rest and meds, we returned to this vet because our dog was showing signs of pain on the other limb. Dr. Miller seemed irritated with us for not going through with surgery and told us that she probably tore the other one. She told US TO PICK A LEG, whichever leg we thought was worse to operate on. After that rude encounter and months of listening to our dog whine in pain when getting up, we decided to take her to a specialty vet for a second opinion. After only minutes of explaining to the specialty vet how her pain migrates from limb to limb and she doesn't limp when running, he suggested a blood test for IMPA, a type of dog arthritis. A couple of hours later the test results came back positive for arthritis. It took this specialty vet a half hour exam to diagnose our dog, what the other vet couldn't do in months! The specialty vet actually listened to us and didn't gaslight us. Dr. Miller was judgemental and should be more attentive and empathetic to what the owner is saying. SHE'S LUCKY WE LISTENED TO OUR GUTS AND DIDN'T DO SURGERY LIKE SHE SUGGESTED! I would give 0 stars if I could. If you go here, at least make sure you get a second opinion read more

I was so nervous to find a new place for my babies as I adored my old vet - but this place has been exceptional. I was really happy with practice at first until my 12 year old cat became ill. I was an established client but they would not see him. They said they were too busy. I said I would wait for hours if they could just see him. They wouldn't. I ended up having to go to VCA which I was trying to avoid. My beautiful cat had to be euthanized. I currently have a 14 year old dog with heath problems. They have been seeing him for awhile but I'm going to research other veterinarians in my area as he needs ongoing care. My pets are my family. Well, I guess I'll be different with my experience of this vet hospital. I was with them for a few years and in the past year or so I have had some feelings of not being happy with their services. Today was the last straw. They refused to refill my kitty's medication for seizures as I "had been warned" to get her in for a well check. Well, I was told back in December, by the doctor, to have my girl seen in 6 months to again check her medication levels. I scheduled for April and then got called by someone named Natalie or Nadine (?) who was so, so nasty and hung up on me. I was so upset at the call to begin with and telling me that the doctor would not provide a refill until I came in. This staff person was very threatening and told me they had my medical chart all ready to go so I could go to someone else. Wow! She told me that I had always been nasty and they didn't want me to come back. I can only say that this is so untrue. I have always thanked them, brought in treats, etc. I am so upset and thrown off and I would never recommend them to anyone, ever. The vets don't even call me with results, it's sometimes the techs. When I have asked questions, I don't get straight answers. This staff member said they ALWAYS treat their clients with respect and I beg to differ. Too bad things turned out this way. I would NOT recommend them. Yes, I had a very bad experience and that's not to say everyone else does. I'd just say, be careful and keep your ears and eyes open. read more

I'm not sure what happened to this place in regards to customer service and treatment of my dog. I brought my French Bulldog Oliver to this place over the last 6 years and never encountered the disrespect and downright rudeness of the front desk staff. I questioned their billing as I assumed follow-up visits were part of the treatment for an anal gland abscess. I never had problems with the vet techs or any of the doctors, but on my last visit, I could hear my dog yelping in pain even though he was medicated as instructed for the exam. Of course, I was upset hearing my dog in pain, and when checking out, I questioned the charges! Never raised my voice nor was disrespectful to the front desk. All of a sudden, this person I never met came out instructed the front desk clerk to print Oliver's records, and I was informed I could no longer bring Oliver to this place. This office manager was curt and acted like she was above me, using a tone of voice I did not appreciate. I can honestly say Dr. Black and Dr. Miller were very professional towards me and our two French Bulldogs, but recently, service is lacking, and attitudes towards customers have changed. I took my little dog to the Old Town Veterinary Hospital on Kalmia Street Murrieta today for an emergency. I got to this office at 1:50 pm Tuesday the 1st November. My little baby was lethargic, didn't want to eat, had very bad breath, and pooping out black diarrhea staining with blood. I explained all that to the 2 receptionists at the counter. There was not any other patient in the lobby except me and my dog. First the receptionist told me I had to have an appointment because the doctors only see patients with appointment, secondly I will have to pay $85 for the office visit if the doctor is going to see us. Then, the receptionist disappeared to the back for about 5 minutes and came back to tell me that whoever the doctor in the back would not want to see my little dog because he/she was the only one in the office. I was completely disappointed at the answer. I was thinking to myself, what kind of moral is this. It is clearly a matter of life and death for my little baby, and being a doctor, anyone would make themselves available for emergency needs and give care for the sick and comfort the families. I was completely taken aback by the response of that doctor. And worst of all, there was not a single other patient in the office at that time. I certainly will not want to bring my pets back to that office again, ever. read more

They were so kind and empathetic with treating our 13 year old Jack Russell for the last few months and helping with his passing after he suffered a stroke. We took all 3 of our dogs there for 10 years. After the 3rd one died I thought how weird it would be to not be going there anymore. I grew very close to them over the years. Dr Black and Dr Miller are WONDERFUl! They are very caring. The staff is excellent also. If we ever get another dog it will definitely be going there. I took our Una to her as an emergency in 2013. Una was in very, very bad shape and needed surgery. Dr. Black worked miracles on her.They also saw our little Bebe and were very comforting to her, because she gets afraid of going to the vets. I tried this vet because a friend (who owns a dog) recommended them. They might be OK with dogs, but they rate a one star or less for cats. My first visit was OK. I had a small kitten. They offered me a "kitten package" that promised to deliver 2 wormer doses, and a nail trim when requested, and required vaccinations. Well, I can only HOPE they delivered the vaccinations, as they did NOT give my kitten a nail trim when requested, and it seems they DID NOT deworm either (and I had to specifically verbally request deworming when I took my kitten for vaccinations). How do I know they didn't deworm? I took my kitten, who, by the way, lives and eats INSIDE my house, to a different place to get neutered, and apparently they discovered worms. So Old Town Vet apparently did not give my kitten the doses promised. Is it because I paid upfront? Or is it because they just don't care about cats. They certainly treated me with disrespect, and I can't imagine what they did to my kitten. Don't take your cat (at least) to these people. I wouldn't take my dog either. I don't trust them, either with the treatment they "promise" or the treatment they might inflict on your pet (and you). read more

Sometimes she is busy (because she's so amazing) and have seen other vets here and I've never had a bad experience. Including all the staff and front desk. Everyone is compassionate, patient, thorough, helpful, I cannot say enough. I'm very particular about who I trust with my babies and I wouldn't go anywhere else. I've NEVER felt taken advantage or sold on things I don't need. I could not recommend this vet more to those looking for great care for you pet.
