I really want to like this place. I do. It's clean. Staff is decently friendly. Most importantly, it's the closest option to me, which matters in an emergency. Over the last year, we've had multiple emergencies. Recently we brought our pregnant cat in because she was experiencing lethargy. We were the only people there. They took her in and we waited a long time before meeting with the vet. They said it was severe, and discussed treatment options. They said they could save the kittens or the mom, but probably not both. We wanted a minute to discuss. We didn't see the vet again for a long time. They made us wait, knowing our cat was sick, for a long time before bringing payment options. The cost was north of $7k, and they told us the kittens were likely already dead. At this point, no treatment had been done yet. We said we couldn't afford that, and they said they would ask the vet what they recommended. Again we waited a very long time. It almost seemed like it was intentional, like a tactic to wear us down emotionally before having a chance to make a decision on treatment. Our cat stayed for a long time, sick, until they came back and we agreed to try to save the mom and skip the c-section. It was still very expensive. They let us in to kiss her goodbye, thinking she'd be okay, and we went home. They called us at 2am, telling us our cat had died. They said we needed to pickup her body or pay for disposal immediately. Despite our tired/ emotional state, we weren't allowed to think it over. This was the second experience we've had like this. I wonder if they hadn't made us wait so long, our baby might still be with us. Watching her die slowly, and having her look to us to help save her, was difficult to say the least. I am extremely disappointed with the care my dog, Romeo, received at this clinic. Romeo had suffered a horrific attack from another dog that left the skin on his neck ripped off. During an already traumatic and emotional situation, we trusted this clinic to provide the best possible care and ended up paying upwards towards $5,000 for treatment. Unfortunately, the suturing was done very poorly, and we were concerned about how his wounds were healing. We decided to seek a second opinion elsewhere, and the other veterinarian confirmed our concerns and provided proper treatment. Since then, Romeo has healed well. No pet owner expects perfection, especially in an emergency, but we do expect competent care that matches the cost of treatment. Spending thousands of dollars only to have to seek corrective care elsewhere was heartbreaking and frustrating. I would strongly encourage others to ask questions and consider getting a second opinion if something doesn't seem right. read more

If I was able, I wouldn't even leave them a one star review. My experience here was absolutely terrible. We came in during an already stressful and concerning situation because we were seeking care and an ultrasound for our dog, and unfortunately, the experience here made an already difficult situation feel even worse. When we arrived, we were told that our dog would only be taken to the back to have her vitals checked and that she would be brought right back out to us. After approximately 30 minutes, we became concerned because she still had not been brought back. We went to the front desk and asked for an update. We were then told that they were bringing her back out, but that she had been sedated. This was extremely alarming because sedation had never been communicated or discussed with us beforehand. At that point, we specifically said that we wanted our dog brought back to us, especially after learning that she had been sedated. Despite this, another staff member, Emily, came out without our dog and began discussing potential treatments and an examination that we had never been informed would take place when we initially agreed to have her taken to the back. The biggest issue throughout this experience was the lack of communication and transparency. We were repeatedly told one thing, only to find out later that something completely different had happened. When we tried to explain our concerns and clarify what we had originally been told, we were accused of "making accusations," when we were simply relaying the information that had been communicated to us and explaining why we were concerned. We had to ask multiple times for our dog to be brought back to us. Several different people came out to speak with us, yet our dog still wasn't brought out despite our repeated requests. We ultimately did not even complete the treatment process because of how uncomfortable and frustrated we became with the situation. In addition, when we were heading home, we noticed that her entire stomach had also been shaved. Again, this was not communicated to us, discussed, nor authorized. We had called confronting them regarding her being shaved and the receptionist stated in her chart that there was no record of this and was unsure as to why it was not noted. To my point, I have no idea why my dog had to be shaved from what I was told was just them doing her vitals. I cannot confidently say that my dog was not sedated and a reversal was given during the time that the staff was stalling to give me my dog back. When you're bringing your pet somewhere for medical care, especially when they're already sick, you should be able to trust that you will be informed about what is being done to them and that your concerns will be taken seriously. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we will never be returning here and I would not recommend this place to anyone seeking care for their pet. read more

WARNING: do NOT take your dog to this place. They sedate dogs without owners approval and then deny it. I took my dog there Friday in hopes to get an ultrasound. I knew we were on a time crunch due to the tech being called in which that was fine. We arrived and things were moving quickly. I do not like my dog taken to the back without me so I asked if I could go back. The tech told me he would take her just to do her vitals and then would bring her back. He said he would have to ask the doctor if I could be back there during the exam but he didn't think that it would be an issue. I was clear on what he told me. This was not a misunderstanding. So after like 45 minutes we asked where our dog was. The front receptionist said she would check. Comes back and says the doctor is finishing up with her and that she'll check about bringing her back to us since she is sedated. I immediately asked what she was talking about since my dog should not have been sedated. You could tell at that point she knew she shared too much information since I wasn't notified of this nor did I give authorization. I said please bring me my dog. She comes back for the 3rd time from the back without my dog and takes me to a side room "for the doctor to discuss with me." I ask what would the doctor discuss with me if he hasn't seen my pet yet? Again, I thinking only vitals were given. She tells me that the doctor is finishing the exam and speaking with the ultrasound tech discussing a treatment plan. My question to her was how can a plan be discussed without me since I'm the owner. She was annoyed and said she will be back. I asked AGAIN for my dog to be brought back to me. Then here comes Emily.... without my dog I might add. She has an estimate and a charge machine with her. She is basically stalling. She initially said since they are on a time crunch the ultrasound tech needed to see my dog. Once I told her none of this had been discussed with me she does the same as the other lady and starts to back track to protect them. I told her I was told my dog was sedated. She proceeds to tell me she told me on the phone about sedation. I told her she did not. She mentioned possible sedation if needed but of course would be discussed with the doctor when discussing options. During our time with Emily we asked for my dog at least 5 times. Even after telling her we will not be having services here and will be leaving to get my dog she tried to continue to talk with me and try to go over pricing. I would like to add she became aggressive and was using her hand motions towards us when speaking. Could you imagine the nerve of us wanting things ran by us in regards to our pets care?!!! Ridiculous!! Finally the initial tech that lied and took our dog comes out with her. She has a cone on and is a bit off. He hands her to me and I said did you sedated my dog and he lied and said no. We leave. I take my dog to later see they even shaved her stomach. Why would they shave her, put a cone on and keep her back for 45 minutes just for vitals? Driving home she was in and out of sleeping which is not my dogs behavior and was not how she was when we took her there. Do not go here!!!! I would not just be saying this and taking the time to write this for no reason. My dog is like my child and I feel every owner should be apart of the treatment decisions and should not be lied to. This place sedated her and instead of owning up and apologizing they lied. They wanted to still get paid so they kept trying to keep my dog in the back for the sedation to not be as obvious. If you're looking for an animal hospital that specializes in turning time into money, you've found it. The waiting room should come with sleeping bags and thermal blankets. You'll have plenty of time to contemplate your life choices while slowly freezing and wondering whether anyone has actually looked at your pet. The process seemed to go something like this: 1. Check in. 2. Wait. 3. Wait some more. 4. Wonder if your pet has been abducted. 5. Wait some more. 6. Learn that, despite hours passing, a veterinarian has not even examined your animal yet. Meanwhile, you get a front-row seat to other devastated families being presented with eye-watering estimates for emergency procedures or euthanasia. Whether the recommendations are medically appropriate isn't something I can judge, but watching distraught pet owners face enormous bills after marathon waits creates an incredibly unsettling atmosphere. When I asked whether someone could at least confirm my pet wasn't experiencing a life-threatening emergency, the answer was, "We don't know yet because the veterinarian hasn't seen them." After taking them back there and waiting hours and hours. That was enough for me. I asked for my pet back and left. The only reason this review isn't zero stars is because they didn't charge me for the privilege of waiting for nothing to happen. Walking into this place felt less like seeking emergency medical care and more like entering an endurance contest where the prize is a very expensive estimate. Pets deserve better. Honestly if I could give a hundred stars I would. So, yes it's costly. However, it's quality care. I took my extremely sick elderly dog in, thinking it would be an appointment for euthanasia. However we did the vet visit first, and ran more tests than I ever would have thought to or honestly wanted to. That being said, because they did run the tests, they discovered my dog had aspiration pneumonia. Treatable. Throughout the visit, the front staff was lovely and kind, techs were helpful, and the Dr was very friendly and clearly discussed treatment options. I had a cost list of low end and high end, and he was a patient in their overnight hospital. I was told I would be called the next day between 9am and 10, and at 915 I was called by the Dr. they said he was doing well, and there wasn't anything I couldn't do at home that they'd be doing, and said I can pick him up. Update: We're now at our regular vet in Vista because our poor baby's eyes and mouth started swelling up. I'm absolutely furious that this was misdiagnosed -- it's heartbreaking that we had to go through this after being brushed off earlier. And guess what, it was an allergic reaction to the bee sting. You'd think that vet would leave his ego at home and listen to the pet parents. We took our dog to Epic Vet after he was stung by a bee and began vomiting -- which our regular vet recommended us to go to the nearest ER. I even showed Dr. Saiman a photo of the stinger I removed, but he brushed it off, saying the picture was "blurry" and repeatedly claiming, "we don't know what caused it." He kept referring to the sting as a "superficial abrasion," which made me feel like he wasn't listening or taking the situation seriously at all. He spent like 2 minutes tops with us in the room. His attitude came across as arrogant and dismissive, like he thought he was above explaining things to concerned pet owners. Instead of compassion or clear communication, we got indifference. He recommended Cerenia and wipes, but the whole visit felt rushed and condescending. What makes this even more disappointing is that this is the second bad vet experience we've had since moving to Temecula -- and I had hoped Epic Vet would finally be different. Our regular vet was closed, so we called around and were told this place had about a 3-hour wait. Fine. We got there at 9:00 PM expecting that. It is now 4:00 AM. We sat there for 7 HOURS and were NEVER seen. We literally had to leave because we have work in the morning. What's actually insane is that not a single person checked on us the entire time. No updates, no "hey we're running behind," nothing. Just completely ignored while sitting there all night with a dog in pain. When we finally asked for an update, the front desk worker, Emily (long brown hair), was rude, condescending, and had a nasty attitude. She told us we "weren't a priority" and that because other pets kept coming in, we were continuously getting pushed back. So basically, we were just expected to sit there indefinitely with zero communication. And honestly, the place didn't even feel clean. There were spiders and webs in the corners, which just made the whole experience feel even worse. Had to rush my dog here Christmas night he had a serious injury and had to be put down, the lady at the front desk and the doctor were very nice and helpful. I can't remember the Veterinarians name but he spoke gently, and when he put my dog down he explained everything and put us at ease. I came here because my pup was attacked by a neighbor dog and had some pretty bad lacerations. I arrived a few mins after 5 pm last night. We sat and waited till 8:15 pm to just be checked out by a tech. Then another hour to do an exam to give an estimate JUST TO GET STARTED. My poor pup sat there in pain for hours with no relief. I was pretty disappointed they didn't try to give him something to help with the pain while waiting. I understand they get busy and there's a wait but I thought 3/4 hours was pretty ridiculous. You could see my dog's bone through the gaping hole he had on his leg. Finally, 9pm came around and I had to leave my dog there overnight because they had to work on his leg. The estimate was 2,500. Mind blowing I got the estimate down a little but not much. I called at 8:50 this am to pick up my boy because no one called; they said he wasn't ready yet. They called me at 9:25 and said he was ready. I drive up here and arrived at 10:04, I've been waiting for about 40 minutes now. Not sure why they called me asking to pick him up at 9:25 and it's almost 11 and he's still not ready? For the amount of money I spent here I'm not that satisfied with this place. :/ The estimate lady was pretty sweet that helped out I am very thankful to have my puppy fixed but I wish it was a better experience with this business is all. I was referred here from a clinic in Indio, Ca - my 4 year old cat, Munster, had a sudden and dangerous GI/intestinal blockage. I drove to EPIC Vets on a Saturday evening and met with Dr. Owens who explained entire procedure with me and that it would be done sometime that evening/Sunday am. I received a text message that his surgery had started at ~11pm and Dr. Owens called me at ~midnight to update me on his post surgery status. Dr. Owens was able to do a much less invasive surgery than anticipated with his previous emergency medical experience. Every staff member I met with or spoke with over the 2 days Munster was there was extremely professional yet very friendly and able to explain things in a way that was detailed but easy to understand. I was able to pick Munster up on Monday afternoon and bring him back home - where he is currently doing well. If I ever have another emergency situation with one of my cats, or another pet - I would definitely bring them to EPIC Vets for critical care. read more

My dog had began to have severe heart failure and was gasping for his last breath as I was driving him here. He was not doing well, and I was unsure how to proceed, long term veterinary care is very expensive, beyond our abilities. The Veterinarian on duty was extremely sympathetic to my situation, and explained all of the pros and cons. I decided on euthanasia since my little guy was at his end and would not benefit. They kept him alive and even lent me a personal phone so I can have a video meet with my wife and eldest son (his dog) who is off for college. I waited for a while to give a calm review of this mercenary, uncaring, and incompetent place. Dean was a 2 1/2 year old Lynx Point Siamese cat who was paraplegic from about 7 days old and I raised him from that point on. He was very healthy and got along very well. He was brought in for a urinary tract infection and he got a mucus plug blockage from It which I cleared. The infection was the greatest worry. Every person I talked to there was told he was paraplegic. The front staff was very friendly, but it went downhill very quickly from there. They took Dean to the back without us to be examined which I did not care for. Then they came out with an estimate of treatment for $7,000 and also gave the bare bones of $5,000. Both of those estimates were outrageous. When we said we could not afford that they then sent out the vet to talk to us. It went horribly wrong from there. He was very rude and uncaring and mainly tried to convince us to pay the higher amount. He cared very little about Dean or what I had to say. He was focused on the blockage and did not care that I had emptied his bladder that morning as I have done for 2 1/2 years 3 times a day or more because he was paraplegic. He kept saying his bladder was full and would not listen that I had emptied it that morning. He said" I don't think so". He also said we should just take him home to die. I will always feel guilty about letting that person treat him for a blockage and give him some much-needed antibiotics, They told us to come back in 2 hours at 6pm. We went out to dinner since we did not live close by. We got a phone call telling us to wait until 9:30pm. When we went to pick him up, they told us he was still groggy and asleep. What they brought out was Dean motionless with his eyes open and his pupils fixed and dilated which means he was basically brain dead. I also found out the medical staff never noticed he was paraplegic. When we got home, I lifted him from his carrier to discover a large pool of blood as long as Dean and he was still bleeding. I went to another vet and they charged me half as much and didn't make me sit behind all their paperwork, after I denied them they still charged me over $100 for a checkup just to not do anything for my baby. read more

I came to epic a few nights ago because my best friend's cat fell very sick while being boarded locally in Temecula. Within a few hours after ultrasound and bloodwork, they figured out that he had an aggressive form of cancer. Unfortunately, we had to send him to rainbow Bridge because there was no cure and he was in pain. Dr. Brayden and her team were amazing and compassionate. I was allowed to be with him at the end and they even allowed me to FaceTime my best friend who is in another state so that the doctor could do a real time visit, and also say goodbye to him right before the end. The facility is absolutely beautiful and the staff professional and compassionate. I highly recommend. Yes, emergency vet care is expensive... I think for the initial exam and diagnostics. She paid around $760. The cost of that is no one's fault and this is generally how it is with veterinary care. There was an extra fee for cremation services and everything that surrounds that , maybe an extra $350-$400. I believe CareCredit is an option so that you can make payments if you need to. WHEN YOU CALL AND THEY SAY THEY CAN SEE YOUR PET - DO NOT BELIEVE THEM! You will wait hours if not days. I was there two days and my guy was taken in the back and left for hours, dehydrated & in pain. I only came to EPIC because the other emergency vet in town had a 6 hour wait. I was told to come in on day 1, wasn't seen. They assured me we would be seen on day 2. I left at the end of day 2 with a sick dog that hadn't been seen by a vet. My cat had an emergency in the middle of the night and we have no emergency vets directly near us. My fiancé was able to take our cat in, and the staff and care were amazing. There will be a wait since they tend to the more critical patients first, but that is to be expected. We understood that other pets needed immediate care so we had no problem. They were communicative throughout the entire process. My fiancé really enjoyed how welcoming the staff was and they offered water and coffee during the wait (much needed since it was right at midnight). We understand how hard it can be dealing with emergencies for the staff and pet parents. We had a good experience and we will be recommending this location to all fellow pet parents. read more

if i could put a 1 star i literally would , i was there for almost 6 hours , the staff were running around doing a whole lot of nothing except tracy and emily they were the only ones who tried to help me and be a little empathetic and answering my many questions , dr saamian was so rude , telling me i needed to make my decision already because he had other people to take care of , to which i understand , but the decision i was making was to put my dog down or continue with a 7k surgery , i was literally getting charged hourly when she was just sitting there , if i was considering putting her down i obviously asked if i could take her home and he told me he wouldn't recommend it because i would " find her dead " like hello am i tripping or what???? i then was told to get out of the room if i could because other people needed it , mind you i hadn't even gotten my dog back at this point and she wasn't getting anything done to her , i got a 2 opinion and she is now recovering and thriving , safe to say i would rather make a 3 hour drive than a 10 min one when it comes to saving my dogs life smh read more

Zero compassion or urgency. Considering this facility has "emergency" in its name, you would imagine the staff would be trained in empathy or understanding the concern in a pet parent's voice. My wife called because our dog got into a backpack and ingested some highly toxic medication. My wife called them while I was on my way there and was told to "turn around and go back home to call poison control ourselves" because if they have to do it they're going to charge us 3x the amount. Mind you, the doctors say we have 2 hours from time of ingestion to act. It was already 45 minutes after this fiasco. Poison control told us to rush him back to a vet immediately. I pulled in, and after I told them the emergency, both people behind the counter had a look of inconvenience on their faces, and said, "well, our doctor is in surgery for any 45 minutes, then there are 2 more dogs ahead of you." Insane..... I ended up taking him to VCA in Murrieta and they were incredible. They matched our level of urgency and care for the situation and they were able to induce vomiting within minutes, and put him on a treatment plan to ensure there was no long-term effects. Big props to VCA, worth every penny to know our dog is well taken care of. Steer clear of EPIC with everything you can. read more

Took my boy Zeke here for surgery after we found out he had a bowel obstruction. Dr. Stenseng was very honest and realistic about my options and let me decide with no pressure or persuasion. He answered my questions thoroughly and it felt very authentic. The staff was also great! They were compassionate and communicative. Stay away from this place. The information given over the phone was incorrect, and staff later denied it in person. Patients are not seen between 7-8 a.m. due to a shift change, and even after that, rounds and incoming emergencies repeatedly push non urgent back. The front desk staff appeared disengaged, and Tracy provided inaccurate information over the phone, then contradicted it later. Our dog had an allergic reaction in the evening when most hospitals were closed. Thankfully, we saw that the Emergency Pet Clinic is open 24/7. They were able to treat her very quickly. We are so grateful for their staff who were both understanding and prompt to respond to this unexpected reaction. If left untreated, we are unsure what would've happened. The vet even asked my husband to wait for the shot to kick in and check to make sure she didn't need a stronger medication. Luckily, her swelling has gone down tremendously and she is back to her energetic self. read more

The staff and Dr. Saaiman were very helpful and kind when I called in to see if they can see my dog Koa, and do an endoscopy for swallowing a bone. It was a very stressful day, the other hospital couldn't do the procedure and recommended VCA in Murrieta (I don't recommend taking any pets there) This Emergency room was comfortable and was able to do the procedure. Dr. Saaiman gave me some options and his staff were very supportive. I'm grateful for their great service and would take my pet there again. read more

As a follow up on my initial review,I can only reiterate our horrible experience. I spoke with a " manager" on Sunday after Charlie was put down on Saturday. I shared our experience and my concern about the insensitivity of the vet throughout the experience. The manager gave me lip service about how this would serve as a learning experience. Two days later my daughter received an email asking how Charlie was doing! Are you kidding me? Unfortunately I had to give at least one star to post a review. I've never placed a Yelp review in the past but in the interest of others that have beloved pets I felt this was necessary. There are other animal hospitals and in the future we will make the drive.
