Did I mention how delightful the owner is? Claudia is an absolute gem. This beautiful home is in a city setting albeit a small one off two major interstates. For those who don't mind exploring a city and its culture, there are a range of restaurants and eateries to fit your budget, historical sites, parks as well as museums. Ragland Mansion is ALWAYS on my list of places to stay when I'm nearby.

I didn't like any of the samples I tried, so he gave me a few more options, including a frozen slushy that tasted like pine and finally a way too sweet sangria. He tried his best and was very helpful, but I just was not a fan of anything I tried. I've been to a number of wineries in VA, and while I haven't always liked everything I've tried, this was the first winery where I did not like anything.

My experience with the Ward Center was anything but, stress-free. It was an unhappy and disheartening experience to say the least. I booked with the Ward Center two years prior to my wedding. The communication in the beginning was good. Then, it fell off. We wanted to schedule a walk through and invite our other vendors to see the Ward Center, so that we could plan out our day. Noelle would not accommodate any of my wishes with trying to make it happen on a day that would meet everyone needs. So, it ended up just being my fiancé and I at our final walk through. At this walk through, two months prior to our wedding, the staff informed us of additional hidden fees totaling to $800+, TWO MONTHS BEFORE THE WEDDING. Noelle was not at this meeting so, I reached out to her after this meeting to share my concerns and she stopped answering my emails and my coordinators emails for a month! I even sent emails with a read receipt and she would read them and intentionally not respond. We were stressed out trying to get answers for a month. I sent an email on June 4th, June 8th, June 15th, June 16th, June 20th, June 26th, and June 28th.. ALL of these emails went unanswered from Noelle. We did not talk to Noelle again until my mother in law called as a "potential client" and Noelle answered and told her to come to the venue for Fridays for the Arts. We went to see Noelle in person at a Friday night for the arts event om July 13th to finally get some answers. We ended up having to come out of pocket for the $800+ in hidden fees that were not mentioned on our contract. Our wedding day was smooth sailing, thanks to Tammy and Karen, but as a Bride, I would not recommend this venue to anyone. They nickel and dimed us for everything. For potential clients, I would advise getting everything in writing, because they are constantly changing prices and policies. One staff member will tell you one thing and then, another will tell you something completely different, so to be on the safe side write everything down. They were unprofessional and poor at communicating everything to us. Noelle asked me to remove my "cruel postings online," but it is my right to share my story with brides like myself.

This one got more stressful as the guest list continued to climb beyond our original expectations. You know what makes it easier? When you have someone that can handle just about anything you throw at them. Enter Ms. Hauler who did a phenomenal job handling the oversized guest list. This venue is perfect for a wedding. A gorgeous plantation home for the bride and her party to prepare. A small house for the couple stay on the property afterward. And just beautiful gardens for the ceremony. Setting up looked like a full blown production. They have plenty of staff, plus a coordinator to help with all the moving pieces of the day. So glad we opted to have them do our catering on site as well. We had been to recent weddings where the caterers disappeared after serving. No worries here. There was plenty of food for everyone. And drinks were readily available until the last guest went home. Our highest recommendations.
