We were glad to pay the nominal price of admission to come here and see history so well preserved! I agree with a prior Yelp reviewer that this place is a very remarkable outdoor and indoor museum! The cabins, and the artifacts which are owned by the museum are well preserved. They have additional private collections on display which are loaned to add to the experience. We think it is "a must see" while in Cody. Give them a visit!

They did an amazing job with all the buildings, well thought out and arranged. I came to see the resting place of Jeremiah Johnston, and was really impressed with everything there. I would definitely make this a stop while you're in Cody Wyoming.

We didn't go in we this place is very overpriced and dogs are not allowed plus you can kinda see it from standing out side the fence . Also in Las Vegas the city has an old town like this for free.

Remarkable!!! I was shocked at the preservation they've done!!!!Been to hundreds of ghost towns and what they've done here rivals Shaniko,Molson,Bodie, and it's next to the best rodeo ever, next to a great gun shop, and has its own hotel.I highly recommend coming here, the staff are incredible!!!!

Definitely not a free event (as listed on numerous sites, like roadsideamerica dot com) Drive from Seattle, specifically wanting to see Liver Eating Johnston's memorial marker/headstone....on our way to FL it was worth it. It can definitely add up for a family. Lots of historical information to read and see. Worth a stop, just plan for the entrance fee.

This place is AWESOME. I didn't even know it existed when I booked a hotel in Cody (just wanted to be close to Yellowstone). Was randomly looking up things to do in the area and found it. So glad. Here, in 1895, William F. Cody (Buffalo Bill) laid out the original site for Cody, Wyoming. Today, it's a collection of authentic structures and furnishings. Buildings from WY and MT were disassembled, moved, and reassembled here. It includes a saloon frequented by Butch Cassidy's Hole-in-the-Wall Gang as well as a cabin used by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. There's also the log cabin home of Curley, a Crow Indian army scout who helped guide General Custer. There's also a little graveyard with several notable Western figures that were disinterred to be reburied here. This includes John "Liver Eating" Johnson (born Johnston). Johnson was portrayed by Robert Redford in the 1972 film "Jeremiah Johnson," a name concocted for the film. Johnson was born in New Jersey but worked as a trapper in WY. The legend goes like this: He married a Flathead Indian woman and built a cabin for them. He returned one day to find his wife and unborn child dead and mutilated by Crow Indians. This started a revenge rampage against the Crow Indians. It was said that Johnson would remove the liver from his dead enemies and eat it. Supposedly, he killed and scalped more than 300 Crow Indians (and devoured their livers, of course). How much truth is there to this? Who the hell knows. Johnson died on 1/21/1900 and was buried in Los Angeles (broke and without relatives) although he desired to be closer to his beloved mountains. In 1972, a teacher in the Antelope Valley town of Lancaster (CA) shared his story with his seventh grade students. They were upset. Old Trail Town offered the space and funding so the kids took up the cause. Calling themselves the Committee for the Reburial of Liver-Eating Johnson, they contacted legislators, etc. He was reburied here on June 8, 1974. Robert Redford was a pall bearer at the reinterment. How cool is that!? Anyway, it's not too much of a time suck but it's super interesting, educational, and easy on the eyes!! Fun for all ages. $9.00 for adults. There's a mid-sized dirt parking lot.

This was an excellent experience! We found it so full of amazing artifacts and writings to read. The gentleman who takes care of this exhibition does a fantastic job, is so kind, and so helpful! This was well worth the small fee, they obviously use their money wisely, for everything was clean and well maintained. So educational, just a great stop!

Very nice display. Lots of memorabilia and artifacts. It took about an hour and a half to walk through it all. Cost $10 per person. Worth it.

This place is so cool! We happened to spot this little town setup when we passed through Cody. For $9 you can stroll through authentic buildings built in the late 19th century. Each one is setup like a little museum with real artifacts from the Old West. Definitely worth a visit. These buildings were disassembled and removed from their original locations around Wyoming and Montana to be brought here for our education and enjoyment. Loved this place.

No matter how long your stay, Cody Shuttle takes care of the details, offering convenient pickup and drop-off at your campground's site. The day we spent with Cody Shuttle, especially our guide Heather, exceeded all our expectations. We set our sights on encountering wildlife and exploring the park, especially the northern part of Yellowstone, having already visited popular spots like Old Faithful. Before we even reached Yellowstone, we marveled at the picturesque landscapes and visited two quaint Montana towns, Cooke City and Silver Gate. We even entered the park via the less-traveled Northeast entrance. Heather was a fountain of knowledge, pointing out wildlife, identifying bird calls, explaining geological features, and offering insights about local plant species. We knew we were in for a treat when we saw a majestic bull moose, its massive antlers on full display. Heather had binoculars and a scope on hand, enabling us to appreciate the wildlife in incredible detail. As we journeyed through Lamar Valley -- the "American Serengeti" -- Heather was always the first to spot the Bison. We saw a vast herd of these "American Buffalo" and their calves often referred to as "red dogs" due to their color, roaming as far as the eye could see. Pronghorn Antelopes were also seen mingling with the herd, a sight that was a poignant reminder of nature hundreds of years ago! Throughout the day, we saw more of Yellowstone's wildlife -- Big Horn Sheep, Mountain Goats, and Elk, often with their young. We enjoyed a fresh and tasty deli lunch at a hotel in Mammoth Springs, a historic district formerly known as "Fort Yellowstone." Heather shared the evolving story of Mammoth Springs. We ended the day with not one, but two Black Bear sightings at different points. We even joked with Heather about arranging a Grizzly Bear appearance, and as we drove on Sylvan Pass towards the East Entrance, there it was, a massive Grizzly Bear! It seemed like every wildlife sighting was perfectly timed, although we know it was pure luck. But we'd like to think that Heather was our lucky charm! By the way, Cathy and Alvin, the owners of Cody Shuttle, are truly dedicated to their service. We met them during our tour; they were exploring the park on a holiday, looking for ways to enhance their tour plans. It's clear they're passionate about providing the best experience for their customers!"

They had snacks, drinks, and a fantastic lunch! We chose the lower loop because of snow and we were impressed! Our guides Heather and Vicki were extremely knowledgeable on everything and answered all of our questions. We had a lot of questions. I know if we were to do this ourselves we would have been lost and not benefitted from the entire experience. We must have saw 25 to 30 different animals, Old faithful, the pools and colors, waterfalls, rock formations, snow, baby buffalo and eagles... Sit back and put the map away... take Cody Guided tours through Yellowstone and enjoy nature. It was well worth the trip! Cathy and Alvin were great too! Cathy helped set up the trip. And Alvin made sure everything went well!
