I loved Old Westminster and had a great time at this newer winery! Tasting is different then it is at most wineries in that you are brought the wines to taste, almost like a restaurant/waiter type of set up. This really made for a personable experience and we enjoyed it. The wines are great, the selection is growing as the vines develop but I have been impressed with everything we have tried. My spouse and I have been to many wineries around the D.C. MD, VA area. Out of the many we have been to, this place is high on our list of favorites. Absolutely exquisite wines all around, whites and reds. We will be coming back and are seriously considering their wine club membership. We had the pleasure of getting one of the co owners of this vineyard as the guy who served our tasting, he was incredibly smart and knew intimately everything about the wine down to the species of yeast used. I first visited their winery about a year ago, so a few months after they opened (if I'm not mistaken). I had friends in town and we had read about their Bacon & Bubbly event (which was a lot of fun!) so we decided to head out and try this new winery. I do distinctly remember that it just seemed like a new winery, they were still learning, etc. but the wines were good and I even brought home a bottle of a red blend, the 2011 Cornerstone. This was the first time we've been back since the covid restrictions started lifting and a lot has changed. they have done a great job creating covid friendly areas which can also be used during inclement or cold weather so they have extended their season with 15 clear plastic domes with seating for 6 and heated. The main patio area has been enclosed with isenglass or 30mil ez2cy. looks great but wow is it loud in there. your constantly leaning in to the table to hear any one speak. There is a new tented area for kids/families and the stage area has also been enclosed. Hoping all this goes away soon for summer. They advertise they now have a food license so unlike before you can't bring any food or drink and they only serve wine - no beer - so your SOL if you don't want to drink wine and their wine at that. I have to say I like wine but I cannot see paying $45 for any of their wines. way over priced and not that good. But like they say, its not where you go its who you go with. Better eat before you go. Food is limited to 6 different pizzas and some limited selection of charcuterie . Yes the pizza are charred on the outer crust but they are soggy and tasteless. Apparently the wood fired oven was not hot enough on the bottom to cook these thin crust pizza's. Someone needs to get trained on how to fire a wood fired pizza oven and someone else needs to get a new dough recipe. I'm not believing these pizza's are made on site or the dough especially. If you go the charcuterie route and pick a meat option, cheese option and finally some cracker you'll have a $50 board of snacks. So, EAT before you go. You will have a good time and the atmosphere is nice with friends but really....get some good wines and a new pizza chef - it ain't rocket science. read more

We just moved to the area and were pleasantly surprised to find so many wineries just a few miles from our house. Driving up to the winery you are in for a treat..everything is gorgeous. The tasting room looks like it's painted into the landscape..nothing is out of place here and everything feels very organic. The inside of the room is full of live edge tables on oak barrels and rustic industrial charm. Our server was one of the sisters and she glowed with passion for her families operation. The wines were great and not at all what Maryland wines generally taste like. This family clearly has a plan to make Maryland known for not only their sweet wines but for fantastic dry wines and more complex blends. Can't wait to go back and try the pizza one night and a cheese plate when the weather cools down! read more

We had booked a tasting here to finish up our tour of Maryland and Virginia wineries as we headed back home to PA. This winery was icing on the cake! Beautiful grounds and a chic tasting room. The staff and management were all very friendly and we enjoyed the wines we sampled! We purchased multiple bottles. The bread and cheeses were also delicious! This is wonderful place to go to on a nice day. They have lots of picnic tables spaced far apart, music on weekends. Our party of 5 included a 16 month old- there's lots of open space to take little ones for a walk. The wine was great. My husband, son, daughter-in-law and I each got a different flight of wines and we all liked every one. I'm not a wine connoisseur and don't like a lot of wines but my flight of white wines was perfect. We also ordered the spicy feta cheese dip- awesome! And the tomato hummus- also very good. And the garlic tapenade- our least favorite but that's mainly because 2 of us don't like olives. We also ordered pizza. My DIL and I got the Oh Kale Yea and we both loved it. Even the 16 month old ate some! My son ordered the American pizza and loved it too. My husband ordered the Crew and really liked that one. My only complaint is that we were seated down a small hill where water from rain on previous days had pooled. It was very muddy and the seats were wet. We found something to cover the seats but couldn't avoid the mud. if you go, ask for a table on the upper level closer to the market building and don't wear sandals!! read more

This wineries wine taste pretty good, but the pours that they give wete miniscule. You cannot really judge the flavor with only one sip. They are overpriced, in my opinion. They do not have a tasting room, and they need to improve their cheese selection. The cheese and bread we ordered were basically whipped cheese spread with flavoring and a loaf of bread. It again was overpriced. They need to start from scratch and draw in more customers by pleasing them more. Again, their wines are pretty good, but I think they have a swelled head for newcomers. read more

Their wines are very good - no doubt there. It's a little hard to find because there are no road signs yet directing you there, so make sure you have the GPS on. I think the prices were worth the product, but they do seem just slightly higher than some other local wineries (again, I still think it's worth it!). I think they still need to set up the customer side of the business in terms of amenities, but from the conversations I had with the staff that's going to come in time since they are new. If you are looking for great wine with a breathtaking view, this is your place. I am a big fan of reds, and OWW's selection did not disappoint. That aside, they provide a great venue for you to enjoy your wine. My wife and I drove out from Baltimore for one of their Food Truck Fridays this past summer and had an AMAZING time. I would leave 0 stars if I could. Terrible customer service from the general manager, Ashli. My fiancé and I were interested in getting married there and sent them an email and still have not received a response. I also sent a message via their online portal and nothing. We went to visit the place this evening and the staff was not able to provide us any information regarding weddings. To our surprise, Ashli, the general manger in charge of events showed up and we asked one of their staff if we could talk to her and get more info, but instead she used her as the middle person and told us that they had received my email but didn't respond because they were finalizing their wedding packages. Considering that we are booking a wedding for June of this year (6 months away), you would think they would have finalized their wedding prices for this year already....we found this odd. And out of courtesy they could have replied and acknowledged my email instead of just ignoring it. Also the fact that she didn't take the time to talk to us as a general manager and owner of the business, and being the only one who knew anything about weddings there struck us as rude and very very poor customer service. I guess they don't want our business. We will never go back, and would NEVER recommend to someone for their venue. If they're unresponsive now, I can only imagine how bad it would be planning a wedding with them as the venue. read more

The estate winery is run with an unflinching eye for detail in every phase of the process, and that's clearly evident with their product line, grounds, tasting room, well-attended events, and overall presentation. They're setting the bar high, and that's great news for Maryland Wine. Good wines, the employees are very friendly. And knowledgeable on wines. prices are very high.

The dry "european-style" wine is lacking in flavor across the board and is way over priced for what they offer. The staff was not friendly at all. They charge $10 for 4 samples of THEIR choosing and claim they have sweeter wine for purchase of a bottle, but no samples. One of the sampler glasses had a fly in it and the staff member tried to serve wine from it, but we requested a clean glass. My friends and I will never waste our money here again. read more

We had our daughter's wedding reception at Old Westminster Winery and the venue and the service and the hearts of the staff blessed us beyond measure. The wine is especially good and it was such fun to see our guests enjoy it so much. The winery itself is beautiful and the tasting room is so warm and really just exudes hospitality. Great winery. Their new tasting room opens in November. We especially enjoy their Trio and Goldstone wines. Both white - we usually prefer reds! The service is great and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. This is quality wine that shows what can be acheived with a Maryland wine. Just impressive. Just happened to stop in this afternoon and wow were we surprised. There are some great vineyards in the surrounding MD area we have visited, but this is by far on the top of our list! From the tables and countertops made from an old (very old) white oak that had fallen on the property years ago to the friendly service who knew everything about the wine there, to just the overall experience. We will be going back many times this summer for the Friday evening food trucks and live music. What a better way to wind down the week. Only negative/comment would be to take care of their very big weed problem on the grounds around the tasting building...try some organic weed control if concerned about the fertilizer. read more

Went to a wine tasting at Old Westminister lWinery last night not expecting much (was invited by a friend). Yow!! Really great wines -- everything we tasted was world class, including the Cabernet, the Sauvignon and even the Chardonnay (not usually my favorite wine). We have drunk good wines all over the world and I can honestly say these run with the best! Plus a beautiful setting with a spectacular tasting room. Friendliness abounds - no snobby owners!
