Definitely worth checking out. This place really feels like a true tavern - modest, comfortable, and not trying too hard. It skips the hype, which honestly makes it a great spot for a casual Saturday breakfast. The food was solid across the board. Nothing flashy, just consistent and done right. Went to OWT today around noon with two friends. Since I've heard so much about their breakfasts, I ordered that while my friends ordered lunch. After what seemed like an incredibly long time, they started bringing out parts of my food but my order was screwed up (NEVER got the tots that were supposed to come with the meal). After three tries, I had some food but they had still given me someone else's order. It was quite a while after that before one of my friends had his lunch. It took a really long time after that for my second friend to get his lunch. At no time did anyone ever come back to check on us or refill our drinks. I decided to try somewhere different for breakfast. I wish I had not and instead gone to one of my tried and true places. This was the Old Whitten Tavern in Bartlett. While the server was friendly, she left my check as soon as my food was delivered and never checked back to see if I needed a coffee refill or anything until I was ready to leave. The eggs were ok; the hash browns were very peppery and just barely cooked...no crispness or browning on them at all; the bacon was almost thin enough to see through. Visited this wonderful place this morning for breakfast with a friend. Checked out other reviews and everyone mentioned the chicken biscuit with maple butter. It was DELISH! The biscuit was very sturdy and flavorful. The chicken was breaded with a nice coating and very moist. I used all of the maple butter. The coffee was good and got better as the morning progressed. The establishment has some great decor of some well known Memphis places like Pop Tunes Records, Orpheum, Chicks Baseball Team and Skateland. They have two pool tables and a full bar. Parking is very spacious and the restaurant was very organized and clean. Our server Kelly was attentive and very helpful and friendly. I will go back for pancakes or brunch on the weekend. While staying in Cordova I came across this place while searching for brunch. Great day in Memphis, so we sat on the patio. Michelle was a great server and very informative. I ordered a smorgasbord: loaded grits, chicken biscuit and a pancake. The chicken is hand breaded and so good! The biscuit Is also buttery and fresh, be sure to use the maple butter, but try not to drink it. (Since it's so good!) Pancake was just regular, biscuits and gravy were too. Bar style restaurant in the local strip mall. Smaller restaurant with a bar , tables, and a pool area. We stopped in on a Friday night and they were doing karaoke night. They had several talented singers who took turns playing pool and singing. The restaurant was super clean and the staff were extremely friendly, but the restaurant did smell like cigarette smoke. My husband had their version of a patty melt and added onion rings for a side. He said the patty melt was really good. He doesn't give many compliments, so this is huge coming from him. The Buffalo egg rolls were a good appetizer, but we probably wouldn't order them again as they were just ok and a little pricey for just two of them. I had the kickin chicken sliders on freedom toast. It was basically a Nashville hot chicken tender on a yummy French toast sourdough slider bun. The sandwich is HOT, but the waitress did warn me ahead of time. The French toast bun was exceptional and super tasty. I'm not sure that I loved the combination of the two together, but both the chicken and the French toast were really good, on their own. The hot chicken would be fabulous with ranch and I could eat the sourdough French toast until I was sick because it was so good. If you are in the area, give this local business a try. I waited on giving a review until I went there a couple of times. The first time the food was amazing! To my surprise it was amazing went I went a second time!!! Between the 2 visits, my husband and I ordered the Sweet Red Chili Shrimp Tacos, Sausage & Cheese Plate, Buffalo Mac-n-Cheese, and a Basket of Tater Tots. All of this was delicious. BTW...best tater tots I've ever had at a restaurant. I like mine crispy and they are perfect. The waitress had only been there a couple of weeks and we were with a big party both times. She was always polite and even though she messed up a couple of things, she was quick to make it right. The owner also made sure to come out and speak with us. It's a non-smoking bar. It is very clean and has some great Memphis signs and memorabilia. They have a small patio. Right now they are trying out hosting a BINGO on Thursday nights (just for fun with swag gifts and 1 $ prize for last game winner) and karaoke on Friday nights. Me and my family were visiting family we came to have breakfast half our food came out and we had to continue to ask for the sides we ordered. I watched my husband place the correct amount the tab was in folder the waitress left then proceeded to say he was 20 dollars short. Then said it was for all the food she brought out that she didn't ring up that the manager said was on the house due to them not bringing it out after we ordered it.
