Hen House HH Wings
Natasha M.

Very nice establishment for meeting up with a group of friends or just a bestie. The cocktails are very contemporary and well crafted. I had a Bam-Bam & Pebbles, which was tasty. But I was disappointed that there weren't any accoutrements to decorate the glass. I also ordered had the Hen House wings, which were fabulous. It was similar to a Thai style preparation. Additionally, I tried my friend's truffle fries, which were deliciously appointed with nice portions of Parmesan shavings and a great dipping sauce. The crispy Brussels sprouts were yummy with hot honey and bacon. Lastly, I tried a little bit of the smoked salmon dip and it was good too. Overall, nice atmosphere and good service. I recommend it and look forward to returning.

Cute place! Lovely staff! Great food and service! We loved going to the happy hour and hanging out. It was a great place to chill and catch up with friends.

Such a cute spot for a large party! Especially love it during the holiday time when they have all out theming. Love the drink selections as well, very aesthetic

This place was amazing! We had the private jet and the bamm bamm pebbles to drink and both were a 10/10. The bamm bamm pebbles was outstanding!!!!!! This is a MUST try if you go here. For food, we got the Brussels sprouts, ahi tuna salad, and carbonara. The Brussels were drizzled with a hot honey and the carbonara had a sauce to die for! Overall, very pleasant experience and will be back soon!

Great food more like a semi casual dining spot . It can go both way !! Casual or a good evening date night or meeting . Service was fast and they made you feel very welcome.

I stopped at Hen House in Memphis after driving 13 1/2 hours. I was greeted promptly and seated. Hen House seems to attract a 20 something crowd serving a variety of mixed drinks, some of which are house special recipes. They serve a limited food menu. It's a great place for a group of friends to stop while bar hopping. Service is superb. My server was very attentive and a good salesperson. She sold me on a second drink and dessert. My lobster roll was excellent! A good mix of lobster claw meat without being drowned in butter. Very tasty. The fries were nice and crispy. Thin and quite good. I highly recommend The Hen House if you're with a group of friends. It was good for this very tired traveler too.

I went the first time.... What I really don't like is the strangers trying to disturb you. It don't make any sense to me not one bit especially when it's a group of people. Secondly, How are you not going to have the food that suppose to be in the restaurant so I had to choose another item off the menu. The food was nice, but the strangers and not having the other food on the menu really ruined the vibe that I don't want to come back.

Ok so last time I was in town the power was out but we passed this place and I'm so glad the trip we stopped by. The grilled cheese braised whatever. 5/5. Now I probably should have split this and tried a salad bc that looked good or another dish but their menu is on the small side but the food is fantastic. Everyone was nice and kind and this was quick to the table. My friend nabbed the mahi and said it was fantastic. Hoping to stop by next time we are in town and see what changes on the menu. Ps love it when there are candles at dinner! Little things matter and the bar even gives you a place mat.

I love everything about this place - great service, cute atmosphere and delicious food! Definitely a perfect place to meet up with friends and family!

We had dinner here when they first opened and we left underwhelmed. However, we decided to give it another try and returned for a double date. To my pleasant surprise, the food quality had significantly improved. The interior is very charming and the atmosphere is cozy as I how remembered it. We ordered a couple of appetizers and drinks, all turned out really delicious. My pasta dish was delightful and my friends also enjoyed their entrees. Overall I'm glad we decided to revisit as the experience was thoroughly enjoyable. Definitely adding this place to our date night spots!

Great food! Everything was quite tasty. The service was great!…read more A large group left the restaurant and it took more than 45 minutes for someone to clean it up. There weren't that many customers in during this time and I saw quite a few waiters that could have cleaned it up. Maybe I'm a bit of a prude - when I eat out, I'd prefer not to see dirty dishes on empty tables when I'm walking to/from the laboratory. Regardless, I will be returning next time I'm in Memphis. One more comment - when I used to live in Memphis (maybe 5 years ago?) this restaurant had a piano player some nights. This was AWESOME !!! Any chance of bringing that back??? That piano player made the place SO SPECIAL compared to other restaurants. It was the perfect blend of a good meal in a nice environment with a magnificent musician demonstrating their talents. Always kinda felt magical in a manner of speaking

He was then subsequently also tasked with an entire conference room full of people to serve. - When our food did finally come out, it was lukewarm and the appetizer arrived when the rest of our meal arrived, 47 minutes after we arrived. --- Total miss management of staffing!!! - Also, they are cutting back on the size of the meatballs now, which used to be a favorite. The food was amazing!…read more The salad was scrumptious & seasoned so favorable. I also ordered the salmon which melted in my mouth. My side was a fully loaded potato. Im still eating off of it. It's enough to feed 2 people depending on one's eating habits. I also ordered a blueberry lemon drop. It's smooth & sneaky. I was so relaxed drinking that libation. I love the ambiance. Customer service was good too. We had a party of 7 therefore the gratuity was added. A phenomenal experience that my tastebuds appreciated. My pictures show my order & my friend's order which is the steak, macaroni & salad (which I had the pleasure of tasting the salad) So nice of her to share This is a pricey restaurant but it's worth it. Enjoy

New Year's Eve Dinner!! First time here!…read more C decided she wanted a fancy dinner for NYE. She actually even said the words, "I chose this over Porch and Parlor". Huh? We arrived to a sea of blue lights from sky cop camera trailers in the parking lot. There are probably 20 flashing blue lights in the parking lot, plus the security car had strobing yellow lights. It's like a crime scene. We are behind a few others so I went to the bathroom before we are seated. The soap dispensers did not work and the jar that was supposed to feed the dispensers is just sitting on top of the counter for you to use. The mouthwash jar was empty and had been for some time considering the dust. Some convenience store bathrooms on Poplar are better. Inside is more of the same. Old, worn, outdated, a little bright for a Steakhouse. Get seated and our server came over and went through menu with us. They were thorough and friendly. They made great suggestions and listened to our needs. The restaurant was out of the beer they suggested for me and only had big chain beers to offer after that so I had a beer made in California. It's hard to believe they don't sell any locally brewed beers here. C had a special olive infused martini they have with a caviar side. She loved the caviar bump with her fancy ass. We ordered the Tomahawk Ribeye for two. She had a wedge salad and I had Lobster Bisque to begin. We both loved these starters! There was actually a good bit of lobster in my soup and her wedge looked fantastic! Soup was really good and I thought I may have been wrong about this place. When we ordered, we discussed how well the kitchen could cook a steak and if med rare was going to be a warm red center. He ensured us it would be. I thought if it's a bit cool, the hot plates will finish it off. Damn giant ass thing arrives rare as hell and still cool. I thought the hot plates would help, but not really. They were not that hot. Ugh. I was going to send it back, but C immediately says "it's great" when the server asked about the doneness. I just went along, but then she spit her first bite out because she could not chew it. She cut it up into smaller pieces going forward and got some of it down. I guess maybe mentally it was too much for her, because it was tender in the mouth. She trimmed off of the bone for pieces she should eat. I am better at rare steaks than she is and ate what I could. It was almost hard for me to eat as well. Most of the center of the steak remained untouched. Our server came as we were finishing and I could tell they noticed it was underdone by their expression We had the Flemings Potatoes and Corn Brûlée as sides. The corn was good, but the potatoes were also cold and not put together very well when prepped. I make a similar au gratin potato myself and whoever prepped this did layer it correctly so you had 8-12 layers of potatoes slices with no seasoning or sauce. Just plain ass potatoes. Pair this with it being cool. Nope. Corn brûlée may have been the best part of our entree, and that is sad. Canned corn and sugar.... Torched We just stopped eating, boxed it all up, and got desserts. We had the chocolate lava cake dine in, and the carrot cake to go. The lava cake was fantastic! I ate almost all of it myself! Really good with thin little cookie under the ice cream. Nice! Carrot cake was good at home. I wonder if it's made there. The caramel sauce that accompanies it is tasty. They even gave us a box of truffles they make there on the way out. Bottom line. Great apps, fantastic desserts, terrible entree portion because of employee shortfalls. I get it, it's hard in Memphis to find good help. It's also a tough market to operate in as well. The clientele can be challenging as well. This leads me to my major beef.... Our server, who you may have noticed has been referred to as "they". This is not to incriminate them, not because they had pronoun need's. They made jokes, had funny stories, suggested things for us to try and things to avoid, and cared for us in a way that is unusual kind of greatness I am not used to in Memphis. They stole the show in my mind. Food is never the servers fault. Another couple was seated right behind us for dinner and they were also their server. I am a middle aged Caucasian male. The other couple were not, you fill in the blanks. The difference in how they spoke to us, and how they spoke to them was painfully different. It was grossly obvious they had disdain for them from the get go. It made me uncomfortable to hear them go from my table to theirs. If I could hear their conversation, they most certainly, could hear ours. Yuck! I heated the leftovers in a skillet and were able to mix the potatoes and finish off the steak once it was cooked a bit more. I did eat the to go carrot cake and it was good. This recovery along with the good apps and desserts pulled the three! '26 - 3

At 3 to 5x…read morethe wait time per person versus any other build to order restaurant (ie Subway), Pyro's is rarely a 'quick bite'. With that understood, the Ridgeway location is also the most disorganized. 1.) They are seemingly never ready for the rush period. If lunch averages at 200 pizzas on a 'normal' Sunday or Thursday, then plan and prep 220 so there's no need for a line person to spend time squashing and portioning dough. Have 250 plates clean and ready and all else stocked. 2.) The 'six buzzers for six people at the same table' doesn't help anyone locate orders. The last pizza is commonly delivered 15 to 25 minutes after the first, even though they were put in the oven with only about a 10 minute separation. In parallel, the 1st to last pizza is out of the oven approx 10 min apart, so the 25 minutes involves sitting at the SA counter getting cold. It seems this occurs in part because there are so many remakes. The remakes seem to be because no one knows what a Spud or Breakfast pizza does and does not have on it, so any mods will double the confusion. Recipe cheat sheets + looking and asking the customer vs. requiring the first employee to repeat 'no peppers'. 3.) why are orders delivered, "Breakfast without bacon" instead of using the name given when building the order? It seems that's a parallel symptom of whatever problem prompts, "are you waiting for anything else?" When only 2 of 6 people have food. AT LEAST they ASK - which is why 3 stars instead of 2. Bottom line - This location seems to be at the top of the death spiral. Under trained & under resourced -decrease in customer loyalty - decreased sales - less money to hire, train, and provide needed hardware (ie plates) - decrease in customers - another drop in sales...and round and round. Too bad because the location is convenient.
