We recently held a corporate event at The Forest Hill Grill. Everything from the appetizers, to the main course, to the beer and wine selections were great. The staff was terrific. I had their filet mignon and requested medium rare. Others at my table ordered the fillet medium well. Every order was cooked perfectly and every filet was super tender and tasty. My girlfriend and I have dinner at the bar several times a month. We go there especially for happy hour and the great food. We always sit at the bar. I am sure the bartender has been been there for several years. We are two ladies of a certain age. When we go there we are invisible. He practically ignores us. He is very personable to the regulars. We end up having to ask for drinks, and then flag him down for appetizers and them ask for more drinks and then flag him down for our food order. Why is this. When we come to have a nice time together and relax. The times we sit at a table to eat and drink out service is always great. But we had rather sit at the bar. We are not invisible we spend money there like everyone else, but we are certainly made to fell that way. read more

First time here and it did not disappoint! My friend and I came here to celebrate our birthdays. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked amazing! Went for Sunday Brunch. Arrived at 10:40 (they open at 11). There was a line waiting to get in the door. By 11:15, the place was completely packed. Erin was our server and she was slammed. She did her absolute best to service all the patrons she had. We ordered French toast, an omelette, and the breakfast sandwich. We also had cheese fritters for an appetizer. All of the food was tasty and fresh. It took a little bit to get our orders placed and to get food because they were slammed. But Erin kept checking on us and doing what she could. A bustling sports bar in Germantown. The menu is decent, and the food was good. The bar is the bar, though. Therefore, there are many more options when it comes to alcohol. I ordered the pike salad. It was fresh and filling. I also had a Stella Artois and a whiskey sour "Memphis Sour." The Memphis Sour was a very nice after dinner drink. There were several TVs around the dining area. All displaying a different sport. The TV in front of me was bowling while the TV to my side had UFC playing. It is a very casual place with slightly elevated noise levels but still quiet enough to speak with others at your table. Our server Michael was a pretty nice guy. He was quite busy, though. However, he was still able to take care of us with both a smile and friendliness. We had a good time eating here, and I would not mind coming back if I were in the area. read more

I have to speak up on our experience here. Sadly, it was not a great one or even a good one. My kids and I went on Mother's Day for a casual lunch. We waited outside 30 minutes before opening and had very realistic expectations about the time it would take to be seated and eat. From the time we sat down to getting our orders, it was an hour. Again, we had no expectations of getting served in a timeframe that would be considered normal on a random day. We were just happy to sit and talk. The waiter was friendly. No rush on our part. When my food came, the beef had barely been seared on the outside. The inside was raw. Once I cut into it, I didn't feel comfortable eating the meat. I'd had a few bites of egg and just decided I'd eat something later. The waiter noticed it right away. I never said a word about it. He took it to be refired. A while later, the same plate of cold eggs and waffle came back with blood on them from my "refired" beef that hadn't been cooked again. I never asked for a discount and typically don't. I typically pay and chalk it up as a place to avoid. The waiter took it upon himself to ask the manager. As I went to pay the bill, I saw my check had a $3.xx discount. At this point, I found the weird discount more frustrating as it pointed out the inedible meal cost almost $30 but a $3 discount was given. Frankly, the whole interaction was bizarre and left us all a bit annoyed. The server received an excellent tip, because it wasn't his fault. He did his part. Friday night dinner. Haven't been in since it was the Belmont. Classic rock on in the background, none too loud, fairly well light for the aging eyes (Belmont was dim, warmly seedy- but that was 15 years ago and a different time in age and world for me). Service was great. Attendant, courteous, no shmarm; it's a tucked away hideout, a neighborhood joint, where I see myself becoming a frequent diner. Menu is expansive. A few trips will be required to get familiar. So far, Jack of all trades is a master of none. The Scientist had etouffee. It was exceptional. Nice cayenne kick midway through the taste, didn't linger afterwards. Opened up the roux and celery in it. Strongly recommend. I got the prime rib dip. I was underwhelmed (should have got the burger). The meat was a medium well, and while good, was, because of the level of doneness, more texture than taste. The rosemary was lost on me. Salvageable. Problem was the jus was bitter, if not burned tasting. Underwhelming went to disappointment. Hopefully another trip and another dish will rectify things...I suspect I'm missing what other see- the joint was still packed at 9pm (but the crowd was starting to pair down). At this point in time, experience is everything I was hoping for, conveniently located, great staff, cozy feel. The food just wasn't where I was hoping it to be. We just moved to Germantown in November, and one of the first restaurants we tried was Forest Hill Grill. It was some of the best fish and chips my husband and I have ever had. We have been back once more, and we tried the pretzel appetizer and a couple of their sandwiches. The food was great and so was the service. This restaurant stays busy, and it's easy to see why. Be sure to come with a big appetite, because the food is good and the portions are large. It's nice to know Forest Hill Grill is close to home. read more

Bern here twice. First time all meals were good but slow service. I'd give 4/5 stars. Second time 3/4 meals not good, again slow service, and no checkup past first minute food arrived. This was our first time dining here. The wait time wasn't excessive, about 17-20 minutes. The atmosphere was very loud, noisy and crammed full. Our server seemed disinterested, she commented that she hadn't been there in 2 weeks and (in my opinion) it showed. We ordered an appetizer (which never arrived to our table), and she said she would remove it from our bill. Service was very slow and sporadic. Our meal was mediocre, at best. When our check arrived, the appetizer had not been taken off the bill, so we had to wait another 10 minutes for her to return so we could ask her to remove it (which she did). While the burger special was good. I have to let you guys know about a complete rip off! The 6.00 burger is just the price of the burger on Monday night's special. What I wanted to bring to your attention are the onion rings. If you want fries or onion rings with your burger it's an additional 3.00. Which I thought ok, sounds typical.
