Old World Barber Shop is one of the best kept secrets of all times. I have lived in the area all my life and have become familiar with many of the local businesses and the quality of their services. I have gone to other hair salons in the past, often overpaid for haircuts so decided to try someone new. This was my first experience with Leo at Old World Barber shop. Finally a very good men's haircut at a very reasonable price in a very friendly relaxed environment. Leo listened to how I wanted my hair to look, took his time and gave me a really great haircut. I used to go to the prior location on Central Ave. for years and was thrilled to see Leo relocate closer to me in Valhalla. Same great cuts, super easy and free parking, and quick service. Leo gives the best haircuts and the new location is perfect. It's right near the post office, across from the Valhalla train station. Also, there's always coffee and sometimes homemade snacks offered (which I believe his sister bakes herself), which adds a really nice, personal touch that other places just don't have. And as an added bonus, Leo, like me, is a local to the area, so he's more than willing to fill customers in on goings on around town and to give advice on good restaurants etc. in the area. Even at peak times, I have never had to wait for a cut, and I am always completely happy when I walk out. Every hair is perfectly trimmed with an attention to detail that is flawless. Really happy I can get a cut here without dealing with crazy traffic or parking drama like is all too common in town. read more

Guys, this is the barber you want. Don't waste your time/money/hair at those dumb chain spots like supercuts or sportclips, don't be that guy. That's the kinda guy that still wears his high school letterman jacket and gives noogies. "Bet ya I can throw this pigskin over them mountains!" Be an adult. Go to a real barber. Old World is where you get that. A sincere, experienced, tells-it-like-it-is old Italian guy who knows how to cut hair. This is his livelihood, he wants you back, he's not gonna mess up your hair. If you're like me, you tend to flip flop around from shop to shop, because "they're all the same." Right? Wrong. This place is the real deal. You will not want to go anywhere else. Why you ask? Apart from the owner/main barber being an absolute rockstar Italian barber (you know, the people you're supposed to go to for haircuts?) they give you the full barber experience. Warm shave of the neck, hot shave if you ask for it, classic old Italian guy small talk. It's a fantastic experience that I have no complaints about. It might be a few dollars more than sportclips or whatever hack you go to now, but riddle me this: do you want those dollars going to a genuine barber that has made this his life's work? the name of this barber shop is perfect and on point as its old school like the italian run barber shop i would visit during my youth in the bronx. my childhood buddy whos father , relatives and friends were regulars told me about old world barber shop when they were located on central ave in westchester and now its anchored in valhalla which is not far from my white plains pad . if i am correct its now operated by the owners son who has continued the traditional of giving top notch hair cuts at fair prices .place still has the old school barber vibe with its decor and its kept simple without all the useless bells and whistles that newer modern bland barber shops gimmick out. my cuz and i got our haircut in less then a hour combined and now cuz looks semi normal . glad old world barber is still around. read more

BTW I do give everyone a chance. Sorry to say, cause the father and son team are very nice people. But this is about business not personality. My haircut first time from dad took sooooo long. He was friendly, we were talking but from my second visit ...with other customers and my wife waiting in the car, wow things moved very slow. The third and LAST time was w/ his son (nice guy) who couldn't even finish my haircut without dad to come check?? It was weird... I seen other yelpers say similar. Aside from that it was really just a shaved head and beard trim which was just 2 snips with a comb and scissor. no shape or clean up for 10 plus more then my barber NOW with a shape/trim/clean up and experience/fast service etc. so much more. Sorry cause they are nice people but I don't think the son is barber taught and dad been cutting it up long time. read more

Never in my life have I sat in a chair for two and a half hours for a cut and a shave and been so disappointed. They didn't swap the blades they use. And charged me for a "Hot Shave." They cut me about 4 times and ended up having to pay $50. Never ever again. read more

For the second time in my 58 years I had to stop a haircut in the middle. The son in a father and son operation has been cutting hair for a year and he is completely incompetent. You are out of your mind if you let this guy anywhere near you. HIs father finished up, saying that his son is still learning. He seems to know what he is doing, but I think he may be one of the nastiest people that I ever came across. $22 for for terrible service and creepiness. If that's your thing, this is the place for you. If not, I am serious.....Stay away. read more

Sports Clips closed down the street, leaving me with needing to find a new barber. I look on Yelp and saw Old World Barber Shop had great reviews and I stopped in today and got a great haircut. Very fun vibe and attention to detail like no other. I'm in my 30s and only a handful of people have ever cut my hair so I'm quite picky about barbers and am happy I found my new neighborhood barber. I began going to Old World Barber Shop about ten years ago. The father owned the business and brought his son in a few years ago. They are great folks and Leonardo, the son, has recently come into his own showing a real flare for cutting hair. The father was a great guy with over 50 years in the business who has recently passed away but passed on his barber DNA to his son who doesn't let you walk out the door unless the job is done right. read more

My son loves Mike. We have a barber shop a block from our house, but he loves the haircut he receives here. Mike is a throw back to a by gone era when you use to get haircuts in your neighborhood by an old school Italian. He will chat with you and joke around. Sometimes there's a little wait & some may feel $22 is a lot for a haircut, but it's worth it if your happy in the end. Terrible, cut my hair dry so all the hair went everywhere. When I complained he said I have to pay for that. Lol. Wasn't asking for a shampoo most competent barbers spray your hair so hair doesn't stick to everything and itches. Didn't have a brush used napkins to clean up. Didn't do what I asked for. Asked for gel and he spayed my hair with water. Don't go here unless you don't care how you look. Amateur hour over there and expensive compared to others $ 22. read more

There is only one kind of haircut they do well in this place , the proper boy haircut from the 60's ... anything else you ask is a complete disaster .
