I saw my cousins Henri and Bill play in their band Starcrawler here a couple of weeks ago. I brought along with me the inimitable Dave Benitez. My sister and brother-in-law were there, as was my cousin Buddy, father of Henri and Bill. OK, enough name-dropping. I'll talk about the venue itself--I really will--but I have to focus on parking, because it's an utter joke. We knew we would be late because of when we left, but we did arrive at the parking lot in time to see at least part of the opening act--or we would have, if the place's parking lot hadn't been tiny. The attendant told us to make a left and right and then turn right on the first street and look for parking there. If there wasn't any, we were to proceed to the following street, in front of the Jack in the Box, and if there was no parking there, we could probably (!) park in the Jack in the Box parking lot without getting a ticket (!!). I followed his directions to a tee, and there were no spaces on either street in indicated, and I wasn't about to get my car towed two days before I had to drive it back to San Francisco. This part of Santa Ana is all commercial and industrial businesses in strip malls with parking lots, but for some reason, there's no street parking. I would understand a no-overnight-parking restriction to prevent people from living in their vehicles, but what purpose does the current restriction serve? None, other than to frustrate would-be spenders of sales tax in Santa Ana--stupid policy. Anyway, we spent the next twenty minutes driving up and down similarly long blocks, hoping for some legal parking. Then my brother-in-law saved the day by calling us and telling us to go to the Jack in the Box parking lot and look for the guy in the safety vest. We did so, and after we paid him $20, he directed us to one of those empty business parking lots. And we still had to walk like a half-mile to the venue. The Constellation Room is part of the Observatory, which was also hosting another band in a separate room at the same time. That explains the lack of parking, but why exactly is a venue booking more bands than it has parking for? Why don't they proactively reach out to their neighbor businesses and pay them (or have us pay them) to use their empty parking lots? It makes no sense. The Observatory looks pretty cool, but we only walked through it into the Constellation Room, which also looks very neat with the lights on. When we arrived, Buddy was right next to the door, and my sister was talking to Henri's girlfriend, who was manning the merch table in the back. I walked toward my sister and proceeded to fall flat on my stomach (I broke my fall with my hands, so I didn't hit my head). There's a single large step to get up onto the platform where the table is set up, but I couldn't see it even with the lights on, and there's no handrail. I didn't care at the time besides being embarrassed, but the following week, I had a some excruciatingly painful case of sciatica that lasted almost five days, and I'm still taking steroids for it. I don't know whether that fall caused the sciatica to flare up, but it couldn't have helped, and it's the only weird jarring-type of thing that I experienced a few days beforehand. The show itself was amazing. The sound quality is really good. I'm sure it helped that I was standing against the back wall. I think they allowed in more people than the official capacity, but I didn't have to worry about crowd churn where I was standing. It's always worth it to see and support my cousins, but this venue needs some serious nuts-and-bolts work. Parking is zero stars. Get more; don't encourage people to park illegally. Maybe spend less time on the glow tape and other nice details on the venue's interior signs and ripoff-price-drink menus and add some glow tape to the edge of that single stair. For the majority of the concert, the room was a sold four-and-a-half stars. read more

An intimate space for only 226 people? Amazing! Yes, standing room only, but decent air flow, good sound, and great visibility of the stage from anywhere in the room (unless a really tall person stands directly in front of you). We came to see Tanukichan tonight and had a great time. The venue does sell drinks and food which are way overpriced. ($31 for two drinks). Parking on site $15. It was our first time here. We've been to the larger Observatory room for concerts twice before. We'll be back! read more

The staff are nice and fast with check in. The room is well decorated but it can get very stuffy easily. If you like more air, highly recommended to stand near the door. The drinks are reasonable. You can request less ice in cocktails. Do not buy parking in advance online. The GA parking is very far from the entrance. They sell parking right in front of the entrance for $30. The music and the lights are ok. They are not night clubs so we can't expect too much. Will definitely come back for their next events :) read more

Nice small standing room only. Went here for disco night...and it was fun. Well managed from outside security & to inside. Plenty of outdoor seating area (benches) and bars throughout the venue. VIP parking right infront or their regular parking lot is across the street about 5-7mins walk. Staff are nice and friendly overall. Really enjoy this place & felt safe. read more

I've been to 4 shows in the Constellation room now and I'm kind of figuring that this is a space for many things, but one of them being a place to start your tour and work out all the kinks. The Constellation Room is located inside of the Observatory concert venue. It's a smaller room with a medium sized stage and a more intimate setting. If it's packed in there, I feel like you still have room to breathe a bit and can exit out the way you entered and I believe it's just a curtain on the west wall of the venue so it should feel less trapped. Parking varies. I've been here and tried to park for free in front and even showed up after the opener and someone in the parking lot was charging $10. I recently showed up during the first song of the headliner and got free V.I.P parking in front. Depends on the time you arrive and if they have a parking attendant at that time. Of the 4 shows I've been to, only one had projections and a little fancier set-up, but basically it's the band or artist and it's a stripped down performance. I think because it's a smaller venue and not Los Angeles, the artist performance can either be like another rehearsal with band members looking at each other and mouthing stuff OR it can be a vibe because it seems to be less pressure and the artist/band can go full out OR it can be intimidating because you're in a small room with your audience in close quarters and can hear a pin drop if the audience is quiet. Haven't seen a show I've hated here and would highly recommend it, especially if it's a band or artist that's just starting out. read more

$15 for parking! We double dated for the Kiffness Vote for Pets tour yesterday 6/5/25 and it was horrible! We love the Kiffness but this venue is garbage. It was STANDING ROOM ONLY with way too many people crammed in your personal space. This tiny room they call the Constellation room reeked of sweat and was suffocating with no ventilation. For a room so tiny, the music/sound level was sickeningly deafening and deafeningly sickening. My husband and I, and the couple we double dated with had to leave mid show because our backs were killing us! How disappointing! We were looking so forward to this event. P. S. Even a day after, we're still struggling with back pains (all of us) and back spasms from standing for an hour! Terrible! Avoid this place at all costs. We will never return. read more

Came here to see DICE (young Australian indie rock band) on a Thursday night. I see a lot of reviews on here complaining about overcrowding, but this show definitely wasn't sold out and the small space was intimate and comfortable. I think the sound quality could have been a bit better (vocals and guitars sounded good, but I feel like the drums needed a bit more depth or something, not a sound expert but something felt missing. Staff is really nice. Parking is 15$ further away (2 min walk) or 30$ right out front. Concerts are cheap drinks are not (15-18$ range). read more

I had a great experience the day of the show. All the event staff from the security, coat check, bar were friendly and performing their job. I unfortunately didn't think of leaving my keys in my jacket at coat check, and lost my car keys during a set. I didn't realize at the moment, it was likely because I had been drinking, but also because my friend was driving. After realizing when returning home late that night, I decided to call the following night to see if the box office had received them. I spoke with a staff member who, without pause to look, said no one had turned them in. I asked if I could come speak with security as my AirTag was showing they were at the venue, and she stated I would have to buy a ticket. Understanding that maybe this person is having a bad day or something else going on in their life, I decided I would wait and call back in an hour to hopefully find someone more helpful on the line. To my dismay, she answers again. I already knew where the conversation would lead, so I asked to speak with the manager. Her response was, "Bro, they're going to tell you the same thing"... The manager answered and was helpful in actually looking to see if something was turned in and, sure enough, there were my keys. I understand it was my fault to lose my keys at the venue, but that doesn't excuse the lack of empathy and effort this woman puts into her job. Please incentivize customer service employees to be constructive in working with patrons and encourage them to leave their life issues at the door. read more

We recently came here for a Marc Broussard concert and it was our first time here. The Constellation Room is basically just a side room inside the Observatory which is the main venue. The room fits about a hundred standing and does have a small bar off to the side. It's great for an intimate performance of your favorite musical act since you're right up close, but I do warn that they pack as many as their allowed so everyone was shoulder to shoulder. I prefer a little personal space myself. In terms of the venue itself, they have a main bar in the lobby and a patio area with another small bar. Parking here was $10, but it's basically in a business park which I thought was a waste. They ended up parking us in an adjacent business park that we had to walk over to. I'd recommend parking somewhere else a few blocks away and save yourself the trouble. read more

I'm not sure what they were going for with this venue. It's extremely small and intimate but nowhere to sit and they cram it with as many bodies as possible. If you like standing up for an entire concert, not being able to move without elbowing your neighbor, and no place to sit unless you're disabled this is the place for you. i'm so happy that my artist of choice chose to perform here. Never have I been to another venue where the staff is so nice. Sure there is offsite parking which kind of sucks but at least there's parking! They have places for you to wait if you're a super fan like me who gets here a few hours before the concert, the staff was nice enough to open the restrooms for me before they open the doors, and it was clean! The sound was pretty good. Not house of blues like amazing, but I didn't have to listen to the base screeching all night. Didn't have a chance to try the food, but if you're going to buy anything, just know that they're cashless. all in all an amazing night thank you so much for having us constellation room. We came here for the Lyn Lapid concert here in Santa Ana. The concert was great, but the venue was a bit packed with the show being sold out and all. People didn't really fit inside the whole room, including us. We were basically clinging to the curtain that separated the room from the rest of the establishment. The maximum capacity for the room should be adjusted, if it hasn't been already. The event should have been more organized; there was another show going on and I believe that a few people from the other audience poured into Lyn's audience when their show had ended. It was still a good concert experience, made good by the performance that Lyn put on for her fans, but the venue could have been organized better. read more

BEWARE !!!!!!! I ordered a single shot of Belvedere with ginger ale . Was charged $35 for 1 drink . I was shocked at the price upon checkout . I even asked the African American scam artist at the bar if that was the correct price and he confirmed. I asked for a receipt and he pretended to enter my phone number in the computer and I never received anything. I bet he rang up a water and tipped himself the rest. My next round of drinks, I ordered a DOUBLE Belvedere and a canned water from a different bar and my bill was $25 for 2 drinks and was cheaper than my single drink . I spoke to Andrew a manager and he did nothing . A lady manager came up to me after trying to say that the $35 was a correct charge for a single shot This place is a joke . Stay away ! Visited this venue for the first time the other day and was pleasantly surprised, especially with the low rating. I'd been to the Observatory once before, which is also cool, while this is a much smaller venue, located between the Observatory concert hall and the restaurant. This is a nice, intimate space with great acoustics, which allows you to be up close and personal with the artists. I had the pleasure of seeing William Ryan Key here, formerly of Yellowcard, my all-time favorite band. While waiting for the show, we also had some drinks and a build-your-own poutine at the restaurant, which was pretty good! I would definitely come back here again for another show. read more

I want to give a shout out to the smaller venue inside The Observatory. I came for Gimme Gimme Disco in early April and wasn't disappointed! I hope you hold more Gimme Gimme Disco events in this part. The DJ, Karem was fantastic that night! I love the floor, it's very smooth for us who like to move when we dance. The only con is that they allow people to bring their drinks on the dancefloor area. The music was mostly disco from the mid 1970's (1973-1979) and early 1980's (1980-1985). The DJ was generous with ABBA (I mean the Swedish Pop/Disco) band too. I am looking forward to Gimme Gimme Disco returning to Santa Ana soon. Your security staff was beyond polite. The lady security by the stage assisted me to exit the stage during some of the songs, which was helpful to me. I'm not a short guy, but I was totally sober. I can kind of understand why you called it the Galaxy room, but then again not really. Galaxy's and even the newer name Constellation are massive and not tiny and intimate the way this place it. Left of the entrance and last the bathrooms on the right it's perfect for seeing not just smaller bands, but bands that don't need much. Acoustic performances or anything where the artists aren't moving around too much. Some rock and rappers are flying everywhere bringing an uncomfortable level of energy. Lighting is good and the sound from the main room don't usually drown it it, unless it's really cracking, but the sound works in conjunction so the artists don't have final say on things like at some places. It's easy to enter and leave and never really overbooked so your not in danger for getting smooshed in a mosh pit. I'm going to write to about both Constellation and Observatory since they both have accounts. Staff is generally cool. I've been able to bend a few rules here and there. Bathrooms are kind of a bummer, mostly because the kids trash it. Prices are inexpensive compared to other venues, but drinks for when you have a wrist band for an all ages show are expensive. $9 for a modello tall box, $9 for a PBR tall boy (not that I would ever drink that). $7 for some pseudo craft IPA's and breweries are a decent deal. The drinks are ok, not strong like people say, but I feel like they aren't good quality. I go with a few fingers neat since I found their Vodka Tonics to be bland and their rum & coke are bitter. They need to clean their lines. Parking sucks unless you come early and the popularity of the bands playing. Lighting is pretty good for some pano shots or from far away, but get washed out if your close to the stage. Same thing with the Observation Room. Protip: go to the box office in person to avoid any additional will call and printing fees. Super duper protip, uber/lyft it. I'm close enough to work where it's about the same price as paying teh $10 overflow parking. read more

I came here recently to watch Run River North perform live. I was told that it was a small venue, but I didn't know it was that small. HOWEVER, sound quality was great, lighting was great, and it was well ventilated. Staff was very friendly as well. It's one of the 2 venues inside of the venue itself. Had an amazing time at the Constellation Room in Santa Ana this last Tuesday 8/31. Got to go see Crimson Apple and it was my first Concert ever. I definitely enjoyed everything. It was truly a wonderful experience. I definitely recommend coming here if a band you enjoy is playing. My only recommendation is get food before hand cause I believe they only sell drinks, and make sure you have your passes ready to get in quickly. read more

And folks... Orange County finally has it's Troubadour!!! Okay, maybe not yet, but the Constellation Room is in the running. It would be nicer if this was a stand alone small venue like West Hollywood's Troubadour, but it's not. It's a smaller room, in back of the midsized main stage of the Observatory (formerly the Galaxy Theatre). Part of that has to do with them being smart enough to hire the former programming director for the Detroit Bar. The room is small... but intimate, which I really like. Whether it's the middle of January or the middle of July, the room is going to feel like sauna. There is no central air piped into the room. Your only prayer is that the band you're going to see didn't sell out and there's only 200 people in the room instead of the max 300. What they should do is buy one of those stand up air conditioning units (one that's about the height of your drawer cabinet) and plug it into the wall and hide it in a corner. It would make a huge difference. Sound quality here is superb. It wasn't the easiest to take pictures with their lighting (for some reason the colors don't pick up that easily), but for live viewing purposes, the venue lighting was great, the band and stage was easy to see. Towards the end of the show, the lead singer of Frightened Rabbit joked, "I'll bet this is the first time you've heard a Scottish alternative singer accompanied by a Mexican rock band!" He was referring to the background sounds that seeped through the walls while the Mexican band Zoe & Fobia played on the mainstage while he was singing solo with an acoustic guitar. It's really not that loud or distracting. Maybe you'll see one show. Maybe on the same night you'll hear two back-to-back (Get it... the two stages are back-to-back? Gotta love my humor!). I happened to attend a concert with a big young crowd. For some reason AC was not working properly from the middle to the end of performance leaving the smell of sweat and weed, which made it unbearable to stay there. Security at this place is non existent. They don't enforce anything. Hence, there is a lot of people doing whatever they want (even smoking weed in the crowd)...gross Will not return for sure read more

The decibel level was too high for The Longest Johns performance in the Constellation Room. Considering, it is an intimate venue and we were crammed in like sardines, there was no reason to blast the volume. Also, the decibel level was too high for Flo Milli in the larger venue. Many of the immature audience members that attended the Flo Milli performance were under the influence of drugs and alcohol and did not have control over their inconsiderate behavior. There was also recorded music playing over the loudspeaker at the outdoor seating area. It was impossible to get relief from the overwhelming and unhealthy noise level. read more

I took my daughter and her friends to see Penelope Scott and was very pleased with this venue. There was a nice lounge area and bar area for me to wait and people watch since I had no interest in watching the show. I'm one of those people that doesn't really care about the venue where I see a band. If I want to see a band, I'll see them at the most convenient spot for me. The Constellation Room (and The Observatory) are very convenient for me and I always like seeing shows there. - I can take the 43 bus (and it runs after midnight). - Parking is easy if another band isn't playing The Observatory the same night. Check the schedule. - The bar has good beers including Stone IPA and Delirium Tremens. I remember when you couldn't legally import DT. - I like the small, intimate setting. - Tickets are affordable. I guess I've never experienced the cons that others cite like the heat or having the music from the adjacent Observatory bleed in. That $10 parking fee is a bitch, though. read more

One of my absolute favorite venues WITHIN another favorite venue. It's like musical inception! It's tiny but that to me is its greatest charm; I've been able to get REALLY close (once almost got kneed in the face by Jon Spencer) to some of my favorite performers and it's awesome. While their light setup isn't as fancy as the big space, the sound is great and the bar line isn't usually too bad after the initial rush. If you want to get really close to the stage, be sure to get there early OR you can just be a dick and push your way to the front, as some people are wont to do. The Constellation Room (located inside the Galaxy Concert Theater) is a newly opened 21+ music venue in Santa Ana. You can catch local bands and bigger name groups (Crystal Castles already played here) on its stage. I'm excited to see monthly (free!) residency shows from local bands such as The New Limb. I visited last Sunday night and was pretty impressed by the new room. It's great that there's a new venue in Orange County for local bands. We've been lacking this lately since the Gypsy Lounge closed and local shows at Proof and the Continental have ceased to exist. Driving to LA isn't always an option. Don't buy bottled water... it's $3.50. Get a real drink instead. read more

It was my first time here and I was not expecting much since I feel the Observatory's main hall lacks organization and security for bigger events. They have a bar area when you walk in or a side bar when you get inside the auditorium so you don't have to deal with trying to get a drink at a crowded one-man-show bar. The Constellation Room is located inside The Observatory in what used to be The Galaxy Theater. Me and my family were here last night for the Julien-K show and they destroyed that little room. Capacity is about 200-300, but it's the smaller of the two halls. The sound system is epic. Julien-K is a trance-rock act that brings the electronics and guitar riffs and meshes them in your face. Well, the PA system handled it flawlessly. I was able to hear every note, texture, beat, etc. Drinks are expensive. My whiskey on the rocks (from the well) was $9. Good thing I didn't pay for it. The floors are straight up concrete, and parking was actually FREE on this night and I scored an awesome spot right in front of the venue. No hassle, no bullshit. The only real drawback for me is that it's far from where I stay at. It's a drive. Other than that minor non-issue, I recommend The Constellation Room. P.S. In between songs you can hear the other act in the main room, but that quickly goes away when the current act in the TCR starts playing. The acoustics are awesome. Went last minute to see one of my fav guys amine. Was so nervous they were going to sell out but they still had tickets last minute which was awesome! Friendly staff (it's cheaper if you buy tickets through cash. Instead of debt or credit.) Parking is $10 cash only. Was a 5-7 minute of a walk to get to the venue. since it was a busy night. The hotdog stand was cash only. They do have a ATM. The bar accepted cash or debit/credit which was great. The drinks were affordable. $7 Vodka Cranberry (House Vodka.) $2 more for Kettle one. The drinks are Delicious !!! This place is a good size. Not over crowed. Great Vibe. Great sound. There's booths to sit down and chill. And they have a bar inside too! Which was an awesome bonus so you don't have to leave your show. Was not hot. It was fresh cause my husband and I were standing not far from the door right next to the bar. Amazing view! This place is perfect if you're watching an underground band. I was here for a $5 show of The Neighbourhood (by the way, they're fucking awesome) and it was not like the venues I've been to. The atmosphere is so intimate and I felt like the band was playing just for me. I was impressed with the bar and their drink selection. The bartender had a really cool mustache, like the kind that curls up at the ends! There's a seating area in the corner so you can sit and mingle with other people because it's always fun to talk to strangers. The venue is really dimly lit so it made me feel like all kinds of sexy that night. I would definitely see another band play here, holla! read more

I was at the Constellation Room last night for Slaves To Humanity. Shoundra the will call rep was so kind and professional. The new paperless ticket system is awesome until the site doesn't work Shoundra rescued me!!! I am a concert goer and the sound engineer Sierra was extremely professional.
