I agree with a lot of reviewers. There are some weirdos that frequently bring their dogs and just stand around and socialize without watching their dogs. I actually got into it with a racist couple who called the police on me at this dog park. However, it's close to my home and my puppy loves it here. Sadly, I have to agree with other reviewers about the lack of supervision in this park. Many of the owners are negligent or simply ignorant of their dog's behavior. I watched a man's two dogs chase and bully a puppy while both owners looked on. Another kept picking fights while no one said a word. A woman's boxer attacked my dog after she barked at him to leave her alone, and the woman tried to tell me he was just playing. I don't think dogs break skin when they play... If you take your canine to this park, be prepared to have irresponsible owners and/or misbehaving dogs. read more

We love this dog park. Here's what you should know: - There is a small dog area (under 25 ibs) and a large dog area - The dog park is fully equipped with bags, garbage cans, and bowls with a hose - I wouldn't recommend bringing children in the large dog area during a busy time especially. If you do, I'd recommend teaching them dog safety (what to do if a dog jumps, dog communication basics...) and keep them near you. - The busiest time tends to be around 5 pm. Mornings and early afternoons are usually very low-key and might be better for younger or older dogs. - If you come regularly at the same time, you will get to know the regulars and their dogs. It's very nice! - Most dogs are friendly. But, like any dog park, you need to be vigilant and certain mixes of dogs don't always get along. Some dogs are very active and some are more laid back. Different breeds play differently and some personalities don't always match. - I wouldn't bring puppies that do not have all their vaccines or are very young into the dog park... Everyone welcomed us with open arms! It was packed for a Tuesday lunch hour. Clearly one guy is there all the time and really was great about explaining all the "personalities of the park". It was awesome to see all the dogs interacting, like a reality tv show lol! Small, medium, and large dogs doing their thing. I liked that their was a section for the 25lb and under dogs just Incase. When the sun is out and you don't want to be indoors doing those dreaded chores, you look for a park. I packed up the family and cats and tried out Olde Izaak. We didn't spend long there because it was too hot and there were too many gnats. Besides that, the park is well manicured and has a few picnic tables on the premises--2 by the pond and 1 by the house. The dog park area is mulched and they have a 25 and under weight limit for a section of the dog park. The park is shaded and completely fenced. While no dogs were there during the brief time I was at the park, it nonetheless looked like a decent place for canines to burn off some calories. read more

Visiting my daughter in the Lansdowne area I took my grand dog to this park! Not a bad little hideaway for nature walks and dog walks. The enclosed dog area has NO running water. The enclosed park does however have quite a bit of shade and the ground is mulch. However our pups prefer walking around the park, taking a dip in the creek and checking out the nature. I would have thought Louden County would have some really nice big dog parks & nature trails. I was only up from Charlottesville for a quick visit (where we have a ton of trails and dog friendly parks) but I was pleasantly surprised to at least find this place! read more

Long live the dog park!!!! I was a bit skeptical when I heard Loudoun county had a dog park that just opened up. Figured there would be an entrance fee but to my delight, there wasn't. The park is wonderful, big open fenced in area with grass, real live grass!!!! Unlike Reston dog park or the one in Herndon that are covered in gravel. I understand the purpose of gravel, but nature is so much nicer to be around. Couple of benches but the only down side is there isn't any running water :( so make sure to bring a bowl and some water. The best part about this dog park are the people that come there. I have brought my Golden doodle named Enzo a bunch of times and have met some of the nicest people. Well behaved dogs with the occasional one that likes to hump, a lot. But it's ok, the owner's are always there to correct them. I highly recommend this place and love going here! read more

I have recently begun taking our 6 month old labrador. He LOVES it! The park is shaded on the sides due to the tree canopy but down the middle there is sun. The area is fenced and there are 2 separate entry / exit locations to avoid that chaotic bottleneck at the gate. The top portion of the park is flat and then the downward slope begins. The entire area is mulched but if it has rained a lot then due to the downward slope, it will be muddy due to mulch shifting. There IS running water despite another post to the contrary, it is located in the lager enclosure. There are 2 or 3 bowls and a separate line to fill a large tub - one that could hold 3 of the right sized dogs. Most of the time if it's hot, my dog runs in and out. You will also always find old / used tennis balls / ropes lying around if you forgot them, but I've gone at various times of the day and all but once run into another dog or had one arrive within 15 min (morning / noon / night). There are 2 picnic tables and 2 or 3 benches at various points in the large enclosure and there are at least 2 dispensers of bags for #2. I've never seen anyone leave fecal matter or not be aware of what their dogs are doing. There is another small enclosure for smaller dogs, I went in there when my pup was smaller. Yes, we have had a few incidents where he was approached more progressively by other dogs, but the majority of the owners have been very responsive when the dynamic has been negative leashing and removing their dogs with apologies. read more

I took my puppy there for the first time today, in the middle of the day in the middle of the week. It was perfect. There were two guys there with their young adult dogs who were comparable in size to my 40 pound fur-ball of a pup. I desperately need her to learn to play "appropriately" and when we're in a group of puppies she usually outweighs them and is a big bully. The three of them ran and played and jumped and had a blast. Eventually they calmed down and went in for water. The park has a pump and hose and a couple dog bowls out ~ perfect. We didn't know this was there so we brought our own water, but this was nice. Another family came with their dogs, and these were old and included a HUGE German Shepard. When my dog decided to play with them she was very quickly "corrected", and learned every dog does not want to play with me, and I can not dominate every dog. It was a great lesson - and the reason we came. The original dogs left, and a new lab puppy came. My dog "met" the other pup, but that dog was scared, and my dog did not jump on him. I was so pleased to see how quickly she was learning how to behave with other dogs. Eventually, we left and went for a short walk in the woods, around the lake and the stream. My puppy got to wade in the water, and taste lots of leaves along the way. She was a happy little puppy. I think we found her new favorite place. We will be back. Thanks Town of Leesburg. I used to take my collie here up until January of last year.....I stopped going. She was attacked by a pit bull four times in the span of 6 months. Owners just sit and chat on the picnic tables or benches not even paying attention to their dogs. Water is provided and they do have poop bags but very often people don't clean up after their dogs. There's a small dog area too which has benches etc. If you have a timid, shy, or quiet dog don't bring them here. When we heard about the new dog park in Leesburg, we set out with our dog to check it out. They have a picnic table in the fenced in dog area, and several poop mitt stations. They do not have water, so please bring your own bowl and water jug (and bug spray for yourself!). Its a decent sized area and at the time we went, it had about 15 dogs total, from a small yorkie to a large golden retriever. There is only one play area so dogs small and large will be mixed. I feel if they added a few benches around the perimeter it would be 5 stars. However it is only one small picnic table inside the yard and one picnic table outside of it. This is a nice park with lots of shade. The middle section can get a bit muddy, but the overall park is dry. There is water for the dogs and benches for the humans. Random tennis balls are all around the fenced in park along with a few other toys. Most owners seem to watch their dogs and pick up after them, and I've only seen one pile of poop back in the corner that must have gotten missed. People are nice and dogs are friendly. I've been on a Saturday when there was a Great Dane Meet-Up group and since I own a GD, it was great to see other owners and chat about the breed. I also went on a Thursday morning, about 10:30am, and there were maybe 5 dogs. It was quiet and not much happening. Go during the week if your dog is overwhelmed with lots of people and other others dogs running around. read more

This park is the best around, possible the best in NoVa that you don't have to pay for. The area is mulch now, but it's kept up pretty well. They have running water and little pools that are perfect for a large-sized dog to lay down in. The park itself is pretty expansive and has enough space for my crazy greyhound mix to run a few circuts. I took away the star because they don't stay on top of maintenence as well as they should after storms. read more

Not to mention theres some irritating regulars that claim to be behavior experts, giving very incorrect info out to other owners. Finally - Loudoun County has a free dog park for our four legged friends to roam! Took my dog Bailey for a visit this opening weekend - plenty of other dogs to play with. While it might not be the largest dog park, it's plenty big enough to throw a Frisbee or ball without a problem. Remember to bring water for your dog - they'll need it. We'll be back. read more

This is our usual weekend spot and my pup loves it. There is no separation of big and small dogs, but in probably 25 visits, I've never seen that to be an issue. Plenty of water bowls and a freshwater well and pump for use. Doggie bags and garbage cans. Thick mulch is used for ground cover here, seems to be maintained fairly well. Check this place out! They have a large area for bigger dogs and a smaller area right next to it. It's nice because the small dogs and big dogs can still get exercise by running along the fence. Little pond right next to the dog park so it has a beautiful view and awesome scenery. The park is ALL mulch.. a few trees so a little shade as well. Two picnic tables for people to sit, and two or three benches throughout the park. There's usually a little doggy bath, always bowls and fresh water from the faucet as well. They provide clean up bags. I've been taking my dog here for a year and a half and have had some issues here and there but for the most part just a great day. My dog gets so excited everytime we go up the hill and she sees the little barn next to the park, she can't wait to go in. :) AWESOME location and much better than the loudoun dog park. read more

Park is great, however could use more visible law enforcement. I say this because the other dog owners are not responsible, and some better patrolling I think would render this... start giving out tickets and people will learn. Park is mostly nicely maintained, however I still haven't found a park map on property. Would be nice. Mostly looking for some plaques with the info that a quick google search would generate, but ohh well. We will be back, just will keep our eyes on the other owners. read more

Just got back from the dog park. It had some nice shady areas and a few picnic benches. It had a few water bowls and even big baths dogs could get in. There were dogs of all kinds there. From my 20lbs to 100lbs. Everyone got along well this time but that could be a hit or miss. read more

I have a friend who lives out in Loudon County and asked me and Sweetie (my 3yr old mix) to meet up with her and her pooch for a puppy playdate here. It was a great place to let the pups run free and play with other dogs. There was a good mix of sizes of dogs (so little ones be aware there is no separate little dog area) and lots of friendly owners. Will definately make the trek out there again. read more

The park itself is great. Appreciate that it's mulched, it was dryer than some of the other parks we've been to in NoVA. Lots of room to run! Took my dog there for first time recently. She is a very friendly goofball (40 lbs) and mostly just wants to run around and fetch stuff. Unfortunately, there was a group of larger dogs present that were adamant about dominating her - i.e. standing on her neck, rolling her onto her back and standing over top of her, biting her neck (she was yelping), etc. Very aggressive behavior that should absolutely have been corrected by the owners. Dogs are dogs and they do dog things and this is a dog park so there's some uncertainty always as to what will go down during any given visit, but it was very upsetting to be the only owner paying any attention to what was going on. It should be understood that your dog isn't a jerk or if it is you will correct the behavior inside the dog park. Fortunately, my dog behaved beautifully according to her training and good nature in reaction to these aggressive behaviors and it didn't escalate into a fight, but it very easily could have. I had to walk into a pack of large dogs 2 times within a few minutes to correct behavior their owners couldn't give a flying flip about and get them off of my dog. We left immediately as this environment isn't safe for my dog or me. Irresponsible dog owners suck. Summary, great dog park, but if you want to try it out, be cautious about the dogs present at the same time no matter what kind of personality your own dog has (or maybe I should say the owners present at the same time). read more

I agree with other reviews. We went on a weekend, and probably not the best time to go. Many large dogs running, a few came and jumped all over us leaving muddy paw prints all over our clothes. We saw 2 large dogs poop, no one cleaned up after them. We tried to watch where we walked but still ended up with poop all over our shoes. Not really the dogs fault, more dog owners just not watching their dogs, or cleaning up after them. I don't think we'll ever take our dogs here again. read more
