New greens were fast and rolled perfect. Pro shop and staff were 10/10. Highly recommend.

Sunday morning golf nearly $100. Bathroom was filthy. Bugs along the sink. It had not been cleaned at the start of the morning. Mind you it was probably close to 11 or 12 pm by the time I hit the course bathroom and those bugs had been sitting there a while (days). Cracked sidewalks. I had a 757am tee time on Mon 5/2/22. It rained the night before which was great because we've not had rain in several weeks. I made my tee time the evening before with Roy who is the grounds superintendent. When I arrived he brought my cart around. Greg runs the Pro Shop and checked me in. He said they were having a Tournament for fallen 9/11 NYPD Firefighter, Steven Coakley so they had only let 2 other twosomes on before me and the guy they paired me with named Alex. Fortunately he had played there before and was able to give me some guidance on several holes. There are some blind shots and severe dog legs. You do travel across neighborhood roads and houses line the fairways but don't come into play unless you misshit your ball. Over all I really liked the course for it's wide-open fairways and the layout. There are several severe dog legs on the front and maybe two on the back. There is one hole on the front where the green is shared by two different holes one going and one returning. The best features are the accessible Par 3's. On the front you have 131 yards and 88 yards and on the back 86 and 86. There are prominent signs marking each hole and provide the yardage from all 5 tee locations. There is a fair amount of water from small ponds. On several holes you must negotiate a creek that seems to criss cross many holes on the front & back. They use a lot of bunkers, mostly fairway bunkers and when there are green side bunkers they aren't going to threaten too much. The greens and tee boxes are in excellent condition. The Senior tee's provide significant advantage on all except a couple of holes. The greens are large for the most part and not a lot of undulation. Today they were rolling true and all seemed to be in excellent condition. We were able to complete 18 holes in about 4.25 hours which includes a food stop & bio break at the turn. There was no one in front or back of us so we had a great pace of play throughout the 18 holes. They have a very large driving range and credit card operated ball dispenser. They have a good sized practice putting area by the driving range and a separate chipping area. The carts was clean and in great condition. When you check-in they tell you to note the bathroom door codes on the receipt, There is one on each side at 5 & 13. The parking lot is very large and they have cart attendants to help with your bag and give you the layout of the course. I had a turkey and swiss at the turn which I thought was pricey at $9 bucks. They serve hot dogs but they were not cooked or heated. The sandwich was just so so and they serve it in an open basket with chips. It would have been nice if it had been wrapped since most people are going to be eating in the cart as they continue play. I highly recommend this course for it's overall quality and value. A senior rate at $40 bucks Monday to Thursday is very reasonable for a course of this caliber. read more

The Greenskeeper here needed to be fired 5 years ago but they still have the same issues. Greens are so bad I've never seen a beautiful course so mismanaged. Staff is really great but I have no idea how they keep their heads high. Just driving in you'll see how bad the course(greens-unplayable) is kept so play at your own risk. It's that bad. And a high cost to rub it in. read more

First time playing here and I thought it was very mediocre. Employees were nice, starter was helpful. Probably the worse condition wise golf course I've ever played and I've played a lot of goat tracks. I think that this course is worth around 30 dollars, definitely not worth 59. I played a couple of years ago and had a great round. I just golfed there and was really disappointed in the greens. They have taken a big step back from where they were. I'm an avid golfer and greens are #1 on my list in terms of value. That said, the price was very reasonable and the staff was professional and friendly. Fix those greens! read more

Do not work here. My fiancé has been working here for several months as a maintenance man. Mark is a terrible boss, did not give my fiancé any notice of being let go. I played this course recently because it was the only course open in Charlotte after a heavy rain. It was still $85 at the time and the course was trash. The food at the turn was just as bad. It ABSOLUTELY blows my mind that they're charging $97 this Saturday. I remember paying $31 here in 2020 and the course was in better shape. I always wish the best for people and places but I wish the worst for these owners and hope this course shuts down!!!!! There are 20 courses in CLT better than olde syc and they're all far less expensive. read more

Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation - Golf Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

I write this as a golfer and a home owner. I cannot speak to the entire course but hole number "3" is designed poorly, at best, and a malicious hazard in its current set up. This hole is a dogleg right with two sand traps on the left, with woods and a ravine bordering the left of the fairway. The right side is bordered by trees with houses further back. The right side of the fairway is basically flat and a ball hit errantly can be found, where if the ball goes to the left, it will go down the wooded ravine and is lost. All this considered, most golfers will try to hit right to avoid all the hazards on the left, then comes the right handed hook or left handed slice. Then you have those seldom players, in a "best ball" scramble that try to show their muscle, this all leads to a very dangerous situation for children or other trying to enjoy their yard. My first day here, I personally witnessed an errant drive the landed on a home patio, within two feet of my wife. Even with all of the trees, there is not enough protection for people when a golfer is trying to impossibly short cut the hole. There is no signage on the course that tells golfers that "over the trees" is not an option. The Olde Sycamore has a moral duty and responsibility to the home owners to create a safer atmosphere for those backyards and houses, that border the right hand side, since it is their design that causes golfers to play to the right. read more

Course is nice, a bit pricey, practice area is nice . . . .buuuuuuuut . . . . good luck making an f ing T time. I called, we needed 3 times, 12 players . .like everything else in this world, the call was routed to some place in India. Yes, Indian help desk to make Tee times at a friggin golf course. After spending 10 minutes trying to explain to this India based call center guy what 12 players means . . .I just hung up. The guy could not grasp the concept that I had 3 groups for a total of 12 players, 4 players per group. He just kept saying do you want to play at 12, no I want to play at 10, it is showing on line 3 times in a row open. . . . .no response . . oh so you want to play around 12 . . .frigging moron . . . customer service in this world is dead, and now this golf shop is dioing it. Move on and find a course that actually has the time to setup your tee times. . . . read more

Played 12/9/23. The condition of the course fell well short of the price of green fees. $80 for this course is ridiculous. I believe the greens are bent grass. Excessive blemishes and bald spots an every green. Tee boxes also had a lot to be desired. read more

One of the worst courses I've played in a very long time. The greens could not have been in worse shape, the tee boxes were completely dried out, and there were many hard spots impossible to play out of in the rough and fairway. Whoever is the owner clearly does not care to invest in the course to make it playable. This is a semi-private course, if you are looking to be a member I'd highly recommend not wasting your time and money here, so many other great courses in the area. Will NEVER play again and would not recommend to a friend. Waste of money. read more

Played a round here during the week for my birthday and must say it is a great course. Beautifully maintained with a variety of challenging holes and tricky (and fast) greens. The place of play was great and we finished under time even with taking a quick break at the turn to use the restroom, and grab some snacks and drinks to take back out with us. Will certainly put this course in my rotation of places to play again and bring friends when they come to visit! read more

Love this place! We come here almost every Friday for appy hour. We love the friendly helpful service, TASTY food (The best food) and clean atmosphere. Fairways in great shape! Green are soggy and full of fungus. $10 premium if you want to ride as a single. Constant "pace of play" pressure completing our round in 4:20. They have way to much business so we'll take ours elsewhere. Private club attitude with municipal course greens! Save your money and your time...you've got way to many better options! read more

Greens are in terrible condition. I was told the green were just aerated but I have come to the conclusion that was a total lie! They discounted our rate by 10 dollars just to try and cover up the fact that they're charging a ton of money to play a course that is poorly maintained. I repeat! THE GREENS ARE KN TERRIBLE CONDITION! THEY HAVE BEEN THIS WAY FOR AT LEAST THE PAST YEAR! FIRE YOUR GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE MANAGER HE IS CLEARLY GARBAGE! Great neighborhood and nice set up, but the course leaves much to be desired. Played nine holes out of a paid 18 today, between two holes there were six groups on the two of them. Greens in terrible shape, a couple of cups cut like whoever did it didn't know what they were doing. Madisyn (cart girl) was the best part of the day. read more

Me and my buddy have played golf every weekend at different courses around Charlotte for the last two years. On this particular weekend, we decided to try out a new one a little further out. Olde Sycamore. The course looked great online and the price point was reasonable, so we decided to check it out and bring our wives along with us to enjoy the day. The course is great, and one of the better ones we've played around the city...The staff however, were absolutely terrible. Very pretentious with a lack of hospitality. This is coming from a guy that's played at some of the more private clubs in the country. I have never had such a dismissive or unfriendly staff at a course that is supposedly one of the best in the area. Now, for context, Mecklenburg county ordinance calls for only one patron per cart during this time (COVID). Even though we prebooked, the exact details pertaining to this were not communicated at any time. When asking about riding together (again husbands and wives), we were scoffed at by the staff member at the pro ship that proceeded to radio out in order to ensure that only one of us would have a cart while the "girlfriend or whatever" with him walked and did not get a cart. We even offered to pay for additional carts before setting off. The course starter told us to take it up with the clubhouse, but also told us that WE would be delaying the lineup were we to do this. When I frankly told the starter that we wouldn't be having this issue if their staff had better communication and service, he just shrugged. Not so much as an apology. Only a profound attitude of "we don't need you to play here and we couldn't care less what you have to say about it." Unfortunate that this was the case, because the course is beautiful and fun to play. My only feedback would be to get rid of the dead weight...for starters whoever the guy is that's dipping at the pro shop counter. Take that outside (or at least keep it under the counter while your servicing someone - don't need to see your dribble). Secondly, train the rest of your staff to have some etiquette, greet patrons with a smile and make them feel welcomed. Cut the pretentiousness. You're not Quail Hollow. You take care of that and I'd be a regular. Until then, I'll be taking my weekly business where it's appreciated. read more

For the money, one best semi-private courses I've played in Charlotte. A buddy and I played a Friday morning round a few weeks back for less than $50 a person, and while the greens could've been in better shape, the course was generally well-maintained and moderately challenging. The clubhouse was comfortable and well designed, and the spacious restaurant served up a variety of sandwiches and snacks, along with some great craft beer selections. The marshals were helpful and friendly, and we crossed paths with a beverage cart at least four times during our round. A short drive off I-485, Olde Sycamore is convenient to most of East and South Charlotte, and makes for a great day on the links. I'll definitely be back. read more

Playing date May 14, 2016. The course was in good condition as it nearly always is. Unfortunately, the course was overbooked and the pace of play was excruciatingly slow. Seems to be a common practice. For that reason alone the "price value" relationship of the experience could only be measured a "poor". The communication, or lack thereof, of the Marshall and Golf Pro to those on the course was late and ineffective. The round exceeded 6 hours. Layer on the fact that the clubhouse had limited access during the round due to set-up for a reception. Food and beverage was cut off. The clubhouse and facilities were inaccessible after the round. Add it all together and it is clear this property needs a serious dose of lessons on management and communication with it's guests. This is too good a course to allow this to continue. Golfed at Old Sycamore on 8/6/17. The course is a great layout and is challenging for all levels, but the greens were some of the poorest we have played on in the Charlotte area. Due to the greens, I don't believe it was worth the premium to play here. Apparently they are aerating the greens on 8/8/17, but they will need much more than aeration as there are dead spots, they were very bumpy, and it's apparent that the membership doesn't take pride in their course as there were divots everywhere that weren't repaired. Based on the greens, this course was a let down. read more

We decided to play Olde Sycamore this past weekend and I regret accepting the invitation from my friend. I've heard a few good things about the course and was excited to play. Unfortunately, that is the only good thing about my round. Pace of play was ok but the condition of the course, especially the greens, were horrible. I don't mind paying a premium rate to play a nice course, but after playing 2 holes, I felt like I was taken advantage of. ALL OF THE GREENS were unputtable. I never once had a putt that "rolled". Everything went through bare spots and bounced. Only putts I made were luckily to bounce in the hole. Also, the amount of ball marks on the greens were horrible. Being a semi-private course, I would have thought something so simple as repairing a ballmark would be standard. But not here. I must have fixed 5-10 ball marks per green. They need to switch from bent grass to the newer Bermuda strains, but I assume they are more concerned about taking money from unsuspecting golfers then improving the product. This beautiful public golf course is located in the Olde Sycamore community in Mint Hill. I've played here numerous times. All 18 holes were in pristine condition when I played a couple of weeks ago. It's not the longest course but it's fun and challenging. They have a nice clubhouse and decent snack bar. It's affordable but always better with a coupon and there are lots of coupons out there. I paid $35 for a round and it was well worth it. Now if I can just get my golf game up to par I'd be happy. read more

I played in a company golf tournament at the Olde Sycamore and was very impressed with the condition of the course. This was my second time playing the course and I always like coming back. Its in a good location right off of 485 and doens't take very long to get to from center city Charlotte. The staff is friendly and will answer any questions you have about the course or pro shop. Its a nice course to have a company tournament or just have an afternoon round with your friends. read more

Course is in good condition. You could tell they are trying very hard to hold onto their Bent greens in this heat. Yardades are well marked. Facilities are pretty nice. I enjoyed the design of the course, it made you hit pretty much every club in the bag. Price was very fair for mid-week, $35 including cart on GolfNow. When i first played this course I hated it. . The layout isn't too bad and the conditions are usually in pretty good shape. There are some weird holes like the double green par 3 par 4. At first it feels pretty manufactured (residential golf community) but after playing on it has grown on me. The last hole and the 9th play pretty hard. I'm giving three stars because the course itself is very well maintained and the layout is also a fun one. There are mix ups for both driving and iron play. The greens are not very challenging but all in all the course itself is great. I wouldn't say the staff is rude, with one exception, but I wouldn't call them remotely friendly. We went a couple of weeks ago, booked a twosome, hit a bucket to warm up and while I was putting was told told that I could go off early but I would need to pair up with another twosome. We didn't want to do this and that wasn't received so well, like not well at all. I didn't want to rock the boat so I just went to the pro shop to get a rain check, explained what was going on and they told us to go off as a twosome. We went back to the starter and basically the guy was pretty upset that we went to the clubhouse with the issue. Anyway, we played the round. Once we got to 10 or maybe 11, the logjam started and didn't end. We waited about 10 minutes between every shot. It was pretty brutal. We loved the course, chalked it up to a busy day, hoped it was a snafu and tried again this past Sunday. This time we made late tee times hoping to avoid the earlier issue. It was basically Groundhog Day. After hitting a bucket of balls, the starter asked about our tee times, told us to take an earlier one "to avoid a foursome" placed us behind another twosome and advised us to pair up. Twice during the round the marshal cam around and tried to get us to partner up with the twosome in front of us. Once again, we really didn't want to do this..... The front nine went well, and another log jam on 11. I think there were 5-6 carts waiting to tee off when we got there. We played 2 more holes and gave up at 7:30 because waiting 15 minutes between swings makes for a long evening and we had no hope of finishing. I guess I can't give a lot of advice to a golf club which has back to back groups teeing off and I hope this isn't the case but I can't imagine too many people will wait that kind of time and return. Also, if you don't want folks to play as a twosome, that's easy! Just let them know before they get there! I didn't get a rain check for the back and I probably won't go back, at least not for now. I really like this course. Well cared for and a good clubhouse. Played here in 2015 a lot so I am pushing to 5 stars now in 2017 because the food is fantastic. They have a new Rockstar chef that has been creating some fantastic dishes. I love playing a round of golf and drinking some cold beer and great food. The staff is excellent and the course is challenging and lot of fun. A great place for a fun round and really good food. read more
