The location is cool and very colorful. They play common Latin America music. The employees are very friendly. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The food. I had three tacos. The portion of meat within each taco is plenty for two tacos , I should have only order two. The Carnitas were very traditional, a little greasy for my taste but over all good. The Pastor as always at most Portland Mexican restaurants is just not that great. The Carne asada was good. I did enjoy the pico that they serve the tacos with. I would come back and try some of the other food choices. The food pricing is not bad $3 a taco. Watch out for the red salsa it's on the spicy side, the green salsa is very good. One drawback is the lack of parking I had to loop around a few times prior to finding a spot.

Awesome food and good service. Very good selection of Mexican food and beverages Ordered a burrito and a chicken mole plate. Shared both plates with my wife. Thought the burrito was really good and so was the mole, although it could have been spicier. Make sure to bring your cash unless you want to pay a crazy atm fee to get some money. Glad I checked it out instead of going back to sammich.

Wow! The portion sizes are indeed very generous. Got three Alaskan wild cod tacos for 3$ each, jarritos soda and a side of guacamole and chips. The three tacos each come with two tortillas and two ish slices of fish and a hefty portion of pico and lettuce, so if you play your cards right, you could get two tacos out of each one. The green hot sauce is awesome! Service was attentive, kind, and food came out unbelievable quickly. I will say, the guac was fully blended and inauthentic, but goes very nicely on their tacos. The price is a steal- great spot on east burnside :-)

Came to the Kern district. Found this place. We quickly found out why people were in line. The food is delicious. There is nothing great about the service. But the food is amazing. It makes up for that. Everything was perfect. I recommend this this. Plus the prices are good. If it's nice, sit outside.

Oh my... I got an order off uber eats and was sooooo disappointed! The guacamole is puréed baby food. The beans have no flavor or salt. I didn't know you could mess up beans! And the mole was chopped up cheap looking chicken with brown sauce.

The food is excellent and you get a large quantity for your money. It is authentic Mexican food. You can get it as spicy as you want.

Good sized burritos for the price. I preferred Muchas Gracias, but since they're gone this is a good alternative.

It is the kind of place you instantly feel comfortable settling into. Everyone we interacted with was incredibly kind, and the service was genuinely great throughout. We ordered the Quekas with vegan chorizo and black beans and they were SO good, honestly a standout. The chips and guac were also a hit, and I loved that the guac was actually cold. Such a small detail that makes a big difference. The Citrus Salad was super fresh, crisp, and delicious, which balanced everything out perfectly. I also tried the NA classic margarita and it was so refreshing. I loved the subtle touch of orange juice. Overall, such a lovely spot with amazing food, great vibes, and thoughtful details. I will definitely be back!

Today my wife and I enjoyed scrumptious Tacotes, one chicken and one Bok Choy with house made salsa. Also, the Tetela de Requeson, maiz, beans and sprouting broccoli with a house made requeson - kind of like ricotta cheese - very beautifully plated and so delicious. Extra side of yummy and creamy black bean frijoles with sour cream, butter, tortillas. Instead of desert, the Mezcal, chile and lime was refreshing. Right now open for lunch Thursday through Sunday 10-3pm. No fixed menu, changes with what's fresh - the way chef Angel loves to cook respecting what is in season. Service and ambiance is friendly and knowledgeable about the food and its origin - another reason I love dining here so I learn about what I'm eating and how it was inspired. Yes, the food plated looks so good, I am inspired to dig in. There's a reason it was recognized early in its start by Eater, Portland Monthly and the Oregonian as one of the best restaurants in the city because foodies seek out and love to go where the food experience is special - especially the chef tasting menus in the past. Now I'm watchful and ready to go back and see what the chef Angel is serving up. What else is so special is Republica was a James Beard award nominee too!

The painting on the walls and furniture is very festive! I love how they have different seating area rooms to spread guests out for privacy. They also have a covered outdoor seating area available. Staff was welcoming, friendly, helpful and attentive. I read reviews about their complimentary chips, salsa and bean dip. We asked for the bean dip, but we found out when we received our bill that it's not complimentary anymore. Bummer. It was good, but not worth the extra $5. They were extremely generous with their chips and salsa, so in the end we were okay paying the extra $5. We ordered the chicken quesadilla and charbroiled burger. Both were great! Fresh ingredients. The quesadilla wasn't greasy at all. Neither were the chips! Our server recommended the pollo asada for my quesadilla and it was much appreciated. The seasoning on the chicken was delicious, including the charbroiled flavor. Overall a wonderful first visit here. We'll definitely be back! Would highly recommend.
