    Tostada

Loved everything about this place. I was weary about my cocktail cause I'm not a fan of mezcal but this wasn't as intense and smoky as a normal one. The torta ahogada was really yummy. I would skip the tostada next time! When I come back I'm going to try the hamburguesa because my sister ordered it and it looked amaaaaazing. 10/10

Came back during recent visit to PDX. The quality hasn't changed. Still one of my fave spots in Portland.

I had a take out bowl and gee was it stuffed! If you're able to I would recommend having a separate bowl to mix it up well to enjoy. I liked the carnitas and the tamarind tomato. The differences in textures and flavors was very welcome. Felt very fresh and pretty healthy.

I stumbled upon this restaurant looking for a new place to eat. It was cute inside, and we were seated right away. They have tortas, pozole, and bowls. I decided to get a chicken bowl with avocado. It was so colorful, and full of flavor. There was rice, cheese, beans, chicken, pickled onions, arugula, and a sauce. It was so filling! My total was $20 ($13 for the bowl, +$4 for chicken, +$3 for avocado.)

Wow. Wow. Wow. That is all I have to say. Güero was absolutely delectable and took our breaths away. It is a place that specializes in tortas, but they are done so well. This place was our absolute favorite from our time in Portland. We got their Pollo Pibil. This was a huge torta and we split this. It was so savory and delicious. The shredded chicken was so tender and flavorful. I'm craving it just writing about it now. We also got the Ahogada and the Tostada De Camote. Both were also really good and big portions! The drinks were fabulous and nicely sweet. Definitely going to make it back soon!

Delicious. I have had multiple good meals here, and I absolutely recommend. Chill ambiance and attentive service. I dont always love gotta, but theirs are awesome, bread is perfect texture and super fresh. Bowls are awesome too. Very solid Mexican if you want a sit down spot.

While it's usually packed, Güero has outstanding ambience for a casual little spot. As a gluten free person, I appreciate their bowl, which is delicious.

Every time I am in Portland I make it a point to stop at Guero because it has become one of my favorite go-to spots in the city. Their tortas are exceptional and I have tried them all. Not one of them has disappointed but if I had to choose a favorite it would be the Ahogada which is perfectly balanced juicy rich and deeply flavorful every single time. Guero also has fantastic drinks and their destilados offering is truly outstanding. Whether you are exploring mezcal tequila or other agave spirits the selection here is thoughtful and exciting. I have had some meals at the bar where the bartenders were genuinely engaged knowledgeable and happy to walk you through their agave list which only enhances the whole experience. I will be honest and say that the service can sometimes lean into the typical Portland vibe of aloof and uninterested but there have also been moments especially at the bar where the staff really shines and makes you feel welcome and taken care of. Even with that quirk the overall experience is fantastic and it does nothing to take away from how much I enjoy eating here. If you are in Portland and love great tortas bold flavors and exciting drinks Guero is absolutely worth a stop. I will continue to come back every time I am in town and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable meal.

Popped in for lunch and got the bowl. It was good but I wish there was a bit more flavor. I love that it's built with arugula. There are a lot of stuff textures in the bowl. Loved the corn in it. Service was great. Inside was very beautiful with lots of seating.

Such a nice spot in a cute neighborhood! The bar area and decor are very welcoming, and so are the staff. I had my giant suitcase with me, and my server asked if I'd like the suitcase safely stored in the back until I finished my meal..super helpful! My torta was flavorful and loaded with chicken, and the mango salsa gave it the perfect added acidity. I was definitely eyeing the hamburger that the person next to me was eating, though. It looked juicy and flavorful. I told my server that I was headed to the airport, so she gave me paper and a box to securely wrap my leftovers (the sandwich was pretty big!). I sat in the cute outdoor seating area to take in the neighborhood while waiting on my uber. Definitely a must-visit!

Omg literally one of the best tortas I've had. The bollio was perfectly crispy and the meat was so juicy. We came in 20 ish minutes before closing and they still let us in. The chips and dips were so good but the beans and guacamole take the cake. The salsa on the table was amazing I wish I could take it home. Definitely one of the best things Portland has to offer.

I was in the area and this place popped up on a quick Google search....so happy that I was able to try Güero. The portion sizes are huge and I love how the tortas were not too overbearing and heavy. It's not the best one I've ever had, but it's not horrible either. Also, this place is packed! We had to wait probably 20 to 30 minutes to take out food. Thankfully, the restaurant is embedded in a beautiful neighborhood, so we took a quick walk. I'd be interested to try other things, as there seems to be a lot of hype around this restaurant.

I can't stop thinking about these Torta's! This was the best tasting food we had in Portland. The staff were so pleasant and delightful. The space was perfectly curated and beautiful! But lets get to the food, we orderd the trio of dips with chips (super fresh and flavorful). When it came to the Torta, I was amazed by how flavorful the vegetarian version was, the best Torta i've ever had in my life. From the tamarind tomatoes, to the perfectly crisp potato, the Torta left us very full and wanting to extend our trip. We were the first customers, but about 10 min in, the place was packed. Rightfully so. If you haven't gone here, you must, and if you want to come to Portland for some legit Mexican food, do not leave without trying Guero. If Michelin were in Portland, this would get some stars. Yes, it was that good. Exceptional and this will be hard to beat!

One of Portland's best for good reason. Great bar, exceptional torta. I could do without the line, but understandable - and worth it.

    Ask the Community - Güero

Do you have gluten free substitute for the bread?

No they do not, they suggest to get the bowl or tostadas instead for gluten free options

So, really no tortillas here? I'm Mexican, I need a tortilla to eat my food.

Correct. It is a torta-centered restaurant.

Can you plain rice in the bowls instead of lime rice?

Probably not. Mexicans put lime on almost everything. Perhaps they could switch over and offer the lime on the side...
