I called to make an appointment with this office and I was denied an appointment due to this doctor not liking my primary care physician. I've been in the medical field a long time and it is illegal to deny patient treatment due to their dislike of a physician. This doc needs to grow up. It's not high school drama. From day one I should have walked out. The NPC Daniel immediately tells me he wouldn't have put me on the prescription 3 other doctors have been prescribing me. Next he sent me to a series of tests and when they didn't confirm his findings, he sent me to more tests until he got the results he wanted to see. I was basically pressured into going off of my medication to get a "more accurate" reading. The problem is that reading kept changing and he was unable to answer why, so I set an appointment specifically with Dr. Ogpaard. Today (4:40 PM appointment) I go go to see Dr. Ogpaard and I was taken into the exam room, seen by a nurse and told the Doctor would be with me shortly. Fast forward 30 minutes, I hear no sound in the office. I open the exam door to find the front receptionist had left, no nurses around, front lights were off. At this point it had been 40 minutes of me waiting and I was forgotten in the exam room as employees left the building. Time to find a new Endocrinologist that actually cares about their patients. I will also be relaying this information to my primary care Doctors office in hopes that they do not refer anyone else to this Endocrinologist. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. From the top to the bottom, the quality of care here is below par. My daughter is a newly diagnosed diabetic and this has been the absolute worst experience for her. We are 1 year into our diagnosis and only today after calling and speaking to "Jane" did we find out that my daughter is type 2. We have been asking what "type" my daughter is for over a year and have continued to get the same answer from Dr Traci Lee, "we really don't know yet". However, after speaking to Jane, we were told that my daughter's type has been in her chart for a year now. I specifically asked several times. SMH. Last week my daughter was placed on insulin via a teledoc appointment. We received no demonstration on how to administer the insulin injection in fact they didn't even order the needles to go with the insulin pen until after we had already picked up the prescription. When I spoke to Jane today, I asked her why my daughter was placed on insulin if she's "type 2", Jane replied, "because she needs it". She offered no further explanation. I asked Jane if this is the quality of care she would want her child to receive, she then continued to talk over me and when I asked to speak to her superior, an office manager, a director, anyone above her, she insisted that I schedule an appointment. We are done with this place and will be seeking a new provider. I wouldn't send my dog here. The reviews are true beware. read more

Horrible service. My appointment was at 4:20pm I arrive on time for my appointment and they refused to see me because I did not arrive at 4:00 pm to do paperwork. I explained I drove 30 mins and I got here on time and still refused. The doctor was with another patient and I said I could be filling out the info while the doctor is done with the other patient. But I just checked they close at 5 . So they over book and refuse to see patients when they don't want to stay over. I canceled my authorization. They will not get a penny from me. read more

This doctor is a clown. I don't know why he even decided to do his profession... came in for a remedy he then ask me do I want to come back 5 months later for a check up? Dude why would I come here to seek and answer, bloodwork id I would need to come back 5 months later will the symptoms disappear? He then later transferred me to check in in a month work his Pa. If you don't like you job or can't handle it go retire man because I just saw all these negative reviews and I totally understand why. The only person decent there is the reception guy he even agreed with me why wait to make an appt when you need the bloodwork results soon. Complete waste of time. I was getting ready to give a bad score like everyone else but one of the Nurse practitioners changed my mind. I originally received consultation from Traci Ngan Le, I was very disappointed with her bedside manner, she talks down to you and makes you feel dumb. I had low libido, Erectile dysfunction, low energy etc. I suspected low testosterone, so we tested twice and both times my results came back low, however she suggested that it was most likely a psychological problem and was reluctant to test me again or treat me. I convinced her to test me one more time, she ends up ordering the wrong type of test. Lucky for me my next visit was with Nurse Practitioner Daniel, he reviewed my case, asked a lot of questions, explained things much more clearly and ordered the correct test for me. On top of that he told me I did not have to wait a month to come back ( a month between appointments is common here) he offered to call me and discuss my results as soon as them came in. Sure enough my testosterone came back low and he prescribed me treatment. I just began treatment recently and I already feel a difference, I am so grateful to Nurse Practitioner Daniel for listening and helping me, I'm starting to feel like my old self again. The staff have been awesome every time I've visited, but the Star of this show is definitely Nurse Practitioner Daniel. According to my personal experience and many of the reviews on here, this is a very sub par consult, and other than Daniels excellent quality of service, I would have to agree with the other negative reviews. read more

So far the worst doctor I have encountered. First visit and definitely the last! I have a history of thyroid cancer so i requested to see the doctor himself. the office staff were insisting that i see one of the nurse practioners. i advised that i was willing to wait. that long wait was definitely NOT worth it, it was even rescheduled to a later date so it took longer. Dr. Opgaard himself even suggested i see one of his nurse practioners on my next visit He was not at all interested to hear my medical history. You can tell he was in a hurry. And when scheduling my next appointment he asked if it was okay for me to wait 2 months or if I was in a hurry???? Then informed me that the next time I come back I will just be seeing his nurse practitioner. Which I could have done already if I wanted to, but I waited for almost 2 months to see the doctor since I needed to see a specialist. Doctors should be more passionate with their profession since they are dealing with mostly sick people. They have to be considerate also of the time that patients wait to be seen only to receive that kind of treatment. Dr. Opgaard is definitely not one passionate doctor. He is probably better off retiring... considering all the negative reviews he has received. A 2 star rating for a specialist??? That definitely says a lot! read more

If you are looking for an endocrinologist, do not come to Dr. Opgaard. His practice is so out dated, they won't let you view your lab results when they are available. You have to call them and then they will mail them to you. It's the same lab my mom always uses and usually just views her results online but for some reason Dr. Opgaard blocks this. He also is so checked out and dismisses a lot of my mom's concerns. I found it so frustrating trying to talk to him because he will interrupt and talk over you. He repeatedly tries to pass my mom off to an NP who she didn't like even though we've told him at each visit that she'd prefer to keep her appointments with him. I've found a new endocrinologist for her that takes her insurance and she is so much better. I do not recommend this practice! read more

I can agree that at the beginning, the phone call situation was just as Michael described. It has gotten better & have treated my mother who is a patient there much better. The health insurance is another nightmare that I also don't want to get started on. So frustrating! I was referred to this specialist health care provider. A physician referral is actually for personal services, based upon the qualifications of the person. However, in the classic bait-and-switch of the medical industry, you often never see the person you were referred-to. That is what happened here. Since I never laid eyes on the guy or had any contact whatsoever, I can't review Ole Opgaard personally. For all I know, he is a "ghost" employee who never really existed - a "front". Let's cut to the chase: this office does not meet minimal standards of business in the civilized world because they often/usually/always don't answer their phone. They believe themselves too important to respond in real time to their patients and others. Over a few months I had to call this office several times for scheduling, etc. I don't think they ever answered their phone. Your call goes to a voicemail. Sometimes they called me back, but sometimes they blew me off and my voicemail was never returned. This kind of physician works a lot off blood test results. I had an upcoming appointment and asked if they needed me to do new blood tests. They said no. I responded: I think you probably do, so are you sure about that? They said: you don't need new blood tests. Closer to the appointment day I was in the vicinity and stopped by their office; they are in the same building as my PCP. A waste of time, right? Do you need new blood tests for my appointment? This time they said: yes. So now I had to scramble to get blood tests done, which was not a smooth process as it needs early morning and fasting. Tests done on Monday for a Thursday appointment. On Thursday morning I call Opgaard's office to see if they received the test results. Sure enough I had to leave a voicemail saying why I was calling. All I needed was an answer of yes or no, and it would be a waste to have an appointment without test results. I only had a 2 hour window to get my answer before I was busy with other things. When they didn't call back I called again and get the voicemail again. My time was running out. Then I call my PCP office person, who was nice enough to personally go upstairs to Opgaard's office to tell them to call me back. They tell that person they would call me. When Opgaard's office again failed to call me back I leave another voicemail for them to return my call, and why I was calling. This time I tell them that I was going to be really mad if they didn't call me back. No response. With my time running out, I called the PCP office again who AGAIN walked over to Opgaard's office to ask them to call me with the answer I needed. Again no response. My time ran out and I was on the freeway in traffic driving to a meeting. Opgaard's office finally calls me back and argues with me, wanting to know exactly what times I left my voicemails. WTH lady, I'm in traffic. Don't you have your own records? What does it matter what exact times? The point is: why don't you answer your phone? Then the office manager comes on the phone and further argues with me, thereby stressing me out. I tell her I'm in traffic and she just keeps on arguing. All smug-like, she tells me the office policy of returning voicemails in 24 hours. Well what happens if someone needs a response in a shorter time? The arguing continues: we're busy. Apparently, they are the only ones in So Cal who are "busy" and we all must cater to them. I hang up and resolve to never step foot in their office again. Previously Opgaard's office had kept waiting for 90 minutes after my scheduled MORNING appointment time. No explanation. When you open at 9:00 am, how are you running 90 minutes late by 10:30?? Now I am going through the hell of changing health care providers. Don't get me started on that one. Bad for my nerves is not good for my health. Seriously, is this what YOU want to experience from a health care provider, or any business? Go ahead and call 'em up. As Clint Eastwood would say: feelin' lucky punk? read more

I wasn't very happy with my appointments with this doctor. The wait time is so long and the actual appointment time is less than 10 minutes. Then he recommended that I see the nurse practitioner on my next visit, after a procedure I had to take. I can tell he is very concerned for his patients' welfare. read more

My husband went in to see Dr. Opgaard at 2 of his locations. I had read some of the reviews that were negative so we were a little concerned going in. Once we called to set up the appointment i briefly explained my husbands condition to the young lady's at the front desk and they were able to get me an appointment within 2 weeks, but also advised me that if there were any cancellations they would call him to come in sooner. Once we went in to the appointment we met with Dr. Opgaard who was very pleasant man. He took the time to listen to all of my husbands questions and needs and ensured us of the best treatment. We were very satisfied with the treatment that he received and will be referring some friends over to hi, as well. read more

Like Michael, I was also referred to Dr. Opgaard and had a bad experience with the doctor and his staff. My appointment was at 4:20pm and by 5:30 I had not seen the doctor. I can understand running behind, but that is a very lengthy wait for a Pre-Scheduled appointment. I would expect that after an hour the doctor or his staff would come by and offer to reschedule in respect of my time. read more
