It's a small place, but it's not cramped. There's a deck on the north side that's a peaceful place to sit and take in the larger view of the property. Historic old farmhouse with wonderful NPS interpretive history display covering a wall in the living room. Immaculate rooms and common areas. Wildlife: coveys of quail, momentary shadow of hawk chasing lizard. Dark skies. Why we won't go back: We, a married couple, occupied one of the rooms in one of the 4-unit structures. Each of these has a kitchen shared by four rooms. Two rooms share am separated bath and shower. In order of unpleasantness for us: 1. The double bed was too small; one of us kept falling off the edge while the other was squished against the wall all night. 2. Sharing the bathroom with unknown neighbors was awkward. 3. Going from building to building and into one's room required memorizing four separate keypad codes, one of which changed in the middle of our stay. Imagine having to remember all this when it's dark and you need to use the bathroom. 4. The main building has a big kitchen. Some things (like coffee and tea) are supplied. But it is difficult to figure out what is provided for guests and what is available to use. It is difficult to figure out how to cook one's meals when there are a dozen other guests with whom one must negotiate. It is slightly easier in the smaller kitchens. 5. Wi-fi was unreliable. Other than the too-small bed, the worst part of our stay was that someone took away our brown paper grocery bag after we unwittingly left it in the main building upon our arrival. There are mysterious kitchen protocols of where one is supposed to leave one's things, and I never did figure this out. You are supposed to mark your stuff, but we did not realize this until our last morning. When we could not find our food bag, we assumed we;d left it at home, so we did not mount a search until it was too late. We had squirreled away odds and ends of food for our hiking lunch, so we shrugged it off. But we had to drive to Olema for dinner. The first morning, I was very unhappy at not being able to find my coffee. I am not a morning person and hate loud commotion. I almost cried at having to make polite conversation while the neighbors were cooking strange-smelling foods. One kind soul dosed me on caffeine. If this were still a hostel and the price was $50/nite, all this might be fine. But the NPS clearly requires this concessionaire to set prices that compare to the AirB&Bs of Inverness - $200/night. So it is to Inverness that we will go next time.

Best place for you and your horse…read more.... Just got back from our mother daughter weekend, with my horse and my daughters pony. It was the best weekend I've ever had with my little girl. The drive there was a bit grooling, due to a bike race. When we finally got there, we put the horse away in their stalls and found some port in the living room, Nice! The room was nice and clean, breakfast was wonderful, good coffee, Tom was most helpful in giving me safe trails to take my daughter, great wifi, and he had some wonderful guests! To put it in a nut shell...I want gift certificates for my birthday, Christmas, Mothers Day, V-day, you get the picture!! Thank you Tom!

We came away rested and restored. My biggest issue with B&Bs is that we often find the hosts endlessly intrusive. I understand they want to help, but as an introvert, their presence often grates. Jan and Lou, though, were very thoughtful about letting us enjoy the peace and quiet their cottage provides. It was a delight to have the freshly-made morning meals dropped off for us to deal with at our own pace. The store in Tomales, which is a pleasant walk from the cottage, provided us snacks and lunches. And there are a lot of options for dinner nearby. Our favorite was the Bodega Casino (which is neither a bodega or a casino, but a bar), where in the evenings they have pop-ups with amazing local chefs. I also really appreciated Jan giving us a tour of their farm and teaching us about the business of it. We were really impressed with their industry and acumen. We'll definitely be back!

I've been to about 10 B&B's and this has been the worst. The breakfast is very simple (did I mention spartan?) and we didn't feel any love from the innkeeper. This Swedish B&B has 3 guest rooms. The Dalarna room is very spacious (and spartan) for a couple and a baby. They do suggest that you bring a crib, they will charge you for a mattress if it is damaged by the baby (meaning poop, pee, etc). You have to request a TV and a cute old guy will come and put a 12 inch flat-screen in your room. It seemed like he was struggling to put the all the cords together, he was mumbling something and I didn't understand what he said about the cable channels. I don't know why they don't just leave the TVs in the rooms, it seems like a hassle for the old man. He's the only one who could do it too, the lady innkeeper will not do it! There is a small private patio outside, too bad the seats were dusty and had cobwebs. The bathroom must be for tall Swedish people because I could only see my forehead when I looked in the mirror. If you're 5 foot like me, make sure you bring a stool! The weekday breakfast was lame. There was only one other couple with us that week. On day 1, we had muffins (that was excellent, by that way), granola, berries, weird crackers, and a tiny plate of very thin slices of cucumber, tomato, and cheese. On day 2, we had scones, granola, cantaloupe, watermelon, the same weird crackers, and again thin slices of cucumber, tomato, and cheese. There were only 2 pieces of watermelon and 2 pieces of cantaloupe so we asked for more. The innkeeper said they didn't have anymore watermelon but gave us 2 small pieces of cantaloupe. Really?? Just 2??? How sad. It seemed as if the innkeeper didn't like having guests or she's just angry. We asked for ice and she said, "What for?" We asked for extra washcloths since we were there for 3 days and she said, "Oh you you didn't prepare for the baby?" I asked for another bath towel and she was obviously irritated. She knocked on the door 10 minutes before the checkout time and angrily reminded us that check out time was at 11:00. I asked if we could stay for 1/2 an hour because my baby was still sleeping and she said, "No, you're baby has to sleep in the car. I have the cleaners here, they have to clean now." Then she gave me a long lecture about check out times but I tuned out. What a cold-hearted woman!!!! The cleaners weren't even done with the other rooms, why couldn't we stay until they were ready for our room?!?! I would recommend this place because the farmhouse is lovely. If you don't mind a small, spartan breakfast then this place is great! But I'm warning you, the innkeeper doesn't want to be bothered by paying customers. Don't ask for anything and you'll be fine!

Other services were also absent - the beds weren't made, rooms not cleaned, there were notes all over the place with rules (no shoes, no cups on tablecloths, no kleenex in toilet) all of which were designed to make life easier for the inn-keeper. No rules were available for the benefit of the guest at all. The experience of a B&B where the innkeeper guides you towards activities, local treasures and insider information and a friendly warm demeanor is entirely absent from this place. Stay away.

When we peeked outside, there was not an event going on however, after we finished our lunch and walked to our car, we did see what looked like a wedding party on their way in. Kelly, our server, was absolutely delightful. She answered our questions about some of the menu items patiently. As this is a pub, we figured the fish and chips would be a shoe in. The chips (fries) were excellent and the fish was good (not great). My friend enjoyed her clam chowder yet the salad with beets was disappointing as the beets were canned and not fresh. I think if I came back, I would grab a cider or a beer and sit on the patio or out front and enjoy the sun and garden.

Yes we found WiFi once we got down to the pub the one modern convenience we needed but only two electrical sockets in the room, one in the bathroom. No flat screen, no AC, I found a space heater and a fan in the closet...Okay. we'll manage. The bed was quite high and there is a step stool to help climb into bed. Lots of yummy sheets and a quilt. The mattress was good, not great, two sides of the bed are against the wall. (Somebody's crawling over) The bathroom was small of course, only one in the shower, soap and stuff dispensers on the wall. Our window opened to the front yard, a nice ocean breeze kept us cool. Quaint and yet a bit noisy next door until everyone settles down for bed. Dinner downstairs (a separate review) After dinner we walked a half mile to Muir beach and enjoyed the sun set, perfect. No Pub partying for us these days, we woke up early for our Muir Woods adventure today. Take photos timestamped for when you leave proving that you did not break anything, host will blame anything possible on you. 2. bring your own pillows and do not expect a good nights sleep. bed is horribly old, noisy, and uncomfortable. overall place is "surface clean" with tons of dust and dark dingy corners. Despite charging a cleaning fee, you have to wash you own dishes with a gross sponge. Charging over $200/night for this place is laughable.

The idyllic, rural setting (complete with sheep, ducks, and chickens) makes Morning Glory Cottage a wonderful retreat for rest and recuperation. AMBIANCE This place is imbued with a calming sense of tranquility and serenity. Even though it is right off the road, we rarely noticed any traffic noise. The only sounds that we heard were the leafs rustling, birds chirping, ducks quacking, bees droning, rooster crowing, and the farm dog barking. FURNISHING We chose this cottage primary because it is dog friendly and because it has a kitchenette furnished with pots, pans, plates, bowls, and utensils (so we're not forced to eat out every meal). Here are some of the other nice things that we liked about the place: + hand-written welcome note + a basket of fresh chicken and duck eggs + free WiFi + private patio As well-appointed as the cottage is, it is by no means perfect. Here are some minor deficiencies that we noticed during our stay: - there were plenty of hand soaps but no bath soap - there was a barbeque grill but no charcoals - there was a hand towel in the kitchen but no napkins - the skylight makes it hard to sleep in late PRICE $125 a night during the week days (Monday through Thursday). $135 a night during the weekend (Friday through Sunday).
