This place is adorable and I would recommend coming here! We got the Shepard's pie and fish and chips. Both were delicious! We also got the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and it was the best part of our meal. The Guinness was the perfect addition. The whole place is charming and the experience is lovely. I would warn- the service is SLOW. I've seen that in other reviews as well. But if you are patient it will be a great meal!

Cozy and charming restaurant. You feel like you're at a small village inn somewhere in England. It's a great little lunch and close to the city. Worth a visit! Will definitely be back for dinner! Fish and chips were tasty but not as crispy as you'd expect. Bangers and mash was solid.

We stumbled upon this quaint Inn on the road to Muir Beach. It was so fascinating to find an old English style restaurant and pub in the middle of the secluded roads and exclusive homes on Mount Tam. Walking into the restaurant was like walking back in time - quaint wooden interiors and creaking wooden floors amidst period decor. We sat by the fireplace and it it was the most romantic experience ever! The server were professional and attentive. We had the English sausages, peas and mash as well as the chicken curry generously portioned with vegetables and rice. It was delicious - my English husband could not have been more pleased! Highly recommended!

We got married here and that in itself was an amazing experience. That being said... We came back for our one year anniversary and stayed in the same room we stayed when we got married. There are a few things that get under my skin quickly: no front desk staff, and no one answered the phone when we called multiple times. I also know, because one of the other patrons complained to the staff about the same things, "I've called 20 times and one one picks up the phone!". This is an ongoing issue as we experienced this last year too. There's no concierge or bell service. If there is, I certainly don't know about it. We ate here at the restaurant and we did enjoy the food... the issue? No service. We had to seat ourselves, find the menus and get our own silverware (but of course as previously stated there was no host/hostess at the front desk). Sooo, we sat ourselves.. and no one came. No one came to ask if we needed anything, water, etc. So I go up to the bar. No one's there. Eventually someone showed up and I found out that they were "understaffed" and of course they talking to me aggressively as they were in a hurry. First of all, yeah, anyone with eye balls can tell you're understaffed. Second, I'm the patron; I don't need to know your operating issues or to be talked to any other way but hospitably because y'all are understaffed. Case and point the place needs to be managed better. Do better. It's not a good look when you can't get a call through, empty front desk, empty bar, no server... Its disappointing, it's lazy, and we probably won't be back because of it.

Came here after a nearly 8 mile hike. Much needed pit stop. Got the ginger mule and my partner got a hazy ipa. We were lucky to find seating. It was quite busy for the long weekend. Cool vibes, very pub like. Recommend for a fun spot

Another great hidden gem!! I did not know about this place - but my friend did. You order at the bar and they bring the food to you. Man - I wish I had ordered the bangers and mash which looked spectacular -. I got the french dip - which was good, but 2 improvements would have made it great - the option of blue cheese substitution, and a richer broth. My friend had the ploughman's lunch - which NOTE is really just a salad. We ate on the back patio. Would happily go back!

A Storybook Escape with Gourmet Comfort Food & Stellar Service! Tucked just minutes from the redwoods of Muir Woods and the Pacific coast, The Pelican Inn is a slice of old England transported straight into Marin County. Walking through its ivy-covered entrance feels like stepping into a Shakespearean dream--with low timbered ceilings, candle-lit dining rooms, and cozy nooks that beg you to stay for hours. But let's talk food--because WOW. This isn't your average pub fare. This is gourmet English comfort food at its finest. The Shepherd's Pie was rich, savory perfection, with tender meat and vegetables swimming under a cloud of golden mashed potatoes. I've had this dish in the UK and I'm telling you--The Pelican's version wins. And don't even get me started on the apple crisp--crunchy, warm, spiced just right, and served with melting vanilla ice cream. We literally scraped the bowl clean. And while the ambiance and food were 10/10, the heart of our experience was Chelsea, the incredible hotel manager. She was beyond accommodating, helping us with everything from hiking tips to getting our room just right, and even surprising us with a little treat at check out. Her warmth and genuine care made our stay unforgettable. You don't often find service this thoughtful--Chelsea made us feel like family. Whether you're coming for a romantic weekend, post-hike meal, or just need an escape from the city, The Pelican Inn is magic. We'll be back--again and again oh and ps : thanks for the room upgrade! We went here at the beginning of the month for our anniversary. It was such a sweet cozy place. What a dream. The rooms are adorable. Food is good and the location is beyond with the beach, zen gardens etc. We stayed in room 7!

The best little stop on your way to the beach! They have the best fish & chips and pot pie! We love to get a beer and play some darts while waiting, or just chill on the lawn. It's such a magical little spot.

Ask the Community - The Pelican Inn

Are kids allowed to stay as a guest?

Yes, if the child is a third guest they will have to sleep on a futon on the floor and only certain rooms can accommodate three people. If there is only one adult and one child, they can stay in any room.

    Are they dog friendly?

No, only ADA certified animals are allowed in the bar, dining, and hotel area. There is a lawn where all dogs are allowed on leashes.

    Does the restaurant take reservations?

I called to ask this last month and they said they don't currently take reservations. You just place your order at the front window area and then you can sit anywhere to eat.

It is situated along Highway 1 in between the cities of Mill Valley and Stinson Beach. There is an actual ocean beach named Muir Beach, in the town of Muir Beach . . . just to be clear. This community is comprised almost entirely of residences. The only two non-residence structures are the Muir Beach Community Center and The Pelican Inn and Restaurant. I was extremely fortunate to live at the very top of Seacape Drive just yards away from the world famous, Muir Beach Overlook, at the very top of the hill. The views of Mount Tamalpais, surrounding hills and valleys, and the sounds of ocean breakers outside my cottage seem as if from a dream---experiences I will cherish indefinitely. Some may know I am an author of metaphysical fantasies, and I can safely say that a chapter or two in my next novel will take place in Muir Beach. For me personally, I made meaningful friendships with my two very special housemates, in Muir Beach. This has added to the mystique and adventure of my Muir Beach experience. Tyler has a lot of experience in the wedding industry and it shows!…read more I hired Tyler to be my day-of coordinator at my wedding in Sea Ranch, CA for 60 people. From the beginning she made it clear what the timeline would look like for our partnership - what would be needed and when. When I became a little overwhelmed half-way through planning, Tyler was able to pick up additional scope of work which was a huge relief at the time. She also saved me a huge headache by picking up and dropping off some of my rental items since the minimum order spend for delivery was more than double my rental quote (my wedding was in a pretty remote area so most companies charged a high fee for delivery). Tyler was very thoughtful and organized about the little details I didn't think of which showcases her high degree of experience and attention to detail. She wasn't afraid to push on things on behalf of myself and my husband with our wedding venue - which I really appreciated! We had great communication throughout the wedding planning process - centralizing information in a shared Google doc. Tyler was willing to review my own personal wedding planning documents as well. She was always quick to respond to emails or texts, and also let me know in advance if she was going to be delayed in responding. On the day-of, Tyler had a great demeanor - when I saw her I could tell she was getting down to business but she made sure to keep things calm and light with me - making sure I felt comfy and relaxed on my wedding day. She kept things moving in the wedding day so we kept pace with the timeline. She made sure to account for all the logistical things like where to store decor items before and after the event. She was fantastic at corralling all the wedding vendors, collecting all the documents and information and knew when to keep me in/out of the loop at all times. Overall I would highly suggest working with Tyler for her high degree of experience, organization, thoughtfulness, and overall pleasant demeanor.

She describes herself as a "mellow Type A", and that's really true. She's not in-your-face and intense like some of the planners we considered, and yet she gets the job done beautifully, is super on top of her stuff, and shines when obstacles arise (before and during day-of). We had a relatively complicated wedding, for ~130 guests, 2 completely different locations for ceremony and reception, and a lot of customization. Shannon was incredibly patient with us all the way, and truly understood what mattered and what didn't, and helped us create a day that truly looked like us.
