    Shepherd's Pie

This place is adorable and I would recommend coming here! We got the Shepard's pie and fish and chips. Both were delicious! We also got the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and it was the best part of our meal. The Guinness was the perfect addition. The whole place is charming and the experience is lovely. I would warn- the service is SLOW. I've seen that in other reviews as well. But if you are patient it will be a great meal!

Cozy and charming restaurant. You feel like you're at a small village inn somewhere in England. It's a great little lunch and close to the city. Worth a visit! Will definitely be back for dinner! Fish and chips were tasty but not as crispy as you'd expect. Bangers and mash was solid.

We stumbled upon this quaint Inn on the road to Muir Beach. It was so fascinating to find an old English style restaurant and pub in the middle of the secluded roads and exclusive homes on Mount Tam. Walking into the restaurant was like walking back in time - quaint wooden interiors and creaking wooden floors amidst period decor. We sat by the fireplace and it it was the most romantic experience ever! The server were professional and attentive. We had the English sausages, peas and mash as well as the chicken curry generously portioned with vegetables and rice. It was delicious - my English husband could not have been more pleased! Highly recommended!

We got married here and that in itself was an amazing experience. That being said... We came back for our one year anniversary and stayed in the same room we stayed when we got married. There are a few things that get under my skin quickly: no front desk staff, and no one answered the phone when we called multiple times. I also know, because one of the other patrons complained to the staff about the same things, "I've called 20 times and one one picks up the phone!". This is an ongoing issue as we experienced this last year too. There's no concierge or bell service. If there is, I certainly don't know about it. We ate here at the restaurant and we did enjoy the food... the issue? No service. We had to seat ourselves, find the menus and get our own silverware (but of course as previously stated there was no host/hostess at the front desk). Sooo, we sat ourselves.. and no one came. No one came to ask if we needed anything, water, etc. So I go up to the bar. No one's there. Eventually someone showed up and I found out that they were "understaffed" and of course they talking to me aggressively as they were in a hurry. First of all, yeah, anyone with eye balls can tell you're understaffed. Second, I'm the patron; I don't need to know your operating issues or to be talked to any other way but hospitably because y'all are understaffed. Case and point the place needs to be managed better. Do better. It's not a good look when you can't get a call through, empty front desk, empty bar, no server... Its disappointing, it's lazy, and we probably won't be back because of it.

Came here after a nearly 8 mile hike. Much needed pit stop. Got the ginger mule and my partner got a hazy ipa. We were lucky to find seating. It was quite busy for the long weekend. Cool vibes, very pub like. Recommend for a fun spot

A Storybook Escape with Gourmet Comfort Food & Stellar Service! Tucked just minutes from the redwoods of Muir Woods and the Pacific coast, The Pelican Inn is a slice of old England transported straight into Marin County. Walking through its ivy-covered entrance feels like stepping into a Shakespearean dream--with low timbered ceilings, candle-lit dining rooms, and cozy nooks that beg you to stay for hours. But let's talk food--because WOW. This isn't your average pub fare. This is gourmet English comfort food at its finest. The Shepherd's Pie was rich, savory perfection, with tender meat and vegetables swimming under a cloud of golden mashed potatoes. I've had this dish in the UK and I'm telling you--The Pelican's version wins. And don't even get me started on the apple crisp--crunchy, warm, spiced just right, and served with melting vanilla ice cream. We literally scraped the bowl clean. And while the ambiance and food were 10/10, the heart of our experience was Chelsea, the incredible hotel manager. She was beyond accommodating, helping us with everything from hiking tips to getting our room just right, and even surprising us with a little treat at check out. Her warmth and genuine care made our stay unforgettable. You don't often find service this thoughtful--Chelsea made us feel like family. Whether you're coming for a romantic weekend, post-hike meal, or just need an escape from the city, The Pelican Inn is magic. We'll be back--again and again oh and ps : thanks for the room upgrade! We went here at the beginning of the month for our anniversary. It was such a sweet cozy place. What a dream. The rooms are adorable. Food is good and the location is beyond with the beach, zen gardens etc. We stayed in room 7!

The best little stop on your way to the beach! They have the best fish & chips and pot pie! We love to get a beer and play some darts while waiting, or just chill on the lawn. It's such a magical little spot.

Another great hidden gem!! I did not know about this place - but my friend did. You order at the bar and they bring the food to you. Man - I wish I had ordered the bangers and mash which looked spectacular -. I got the french dip - which was good, but 2 improvements would have made it great - the option of blue cheese substitution, and a richer broth. My friend had the ploughman's lunch - which NOTE is really just a salad. We ate on the back patio. Would happily go back!

Food was extremely bland and not fresh. The waitress is very nice. It is down the street from the beach.

Ask the Community - The Pelican Inn

Are kids allowed to stay as a guest?

Yes, if the child is a third guest they will have to sleep on a futon on the floor and only certain rooms can accommodate three people. If there is only one adult and one child, they can stay in any room.

    Are they dog friendly?

No, only ADA certified animals are allowed in the bar, dining, and hotel area. There is a lawn where all dogs are allowed on leashes.

    Does the restaurant take reservations?

I called to ask this last month and they said they don't currently take reservations. You just place your order at the front window area and then you can sit anywhere to eat.
