Dining area. I like how the walls block a lot of the potential drafts from the front door
Jessica O.

I haven't been to an Olga's in years! When I heard they put an express location on Alpine I was so excited to try it again, and my husband & I have quickly become obsessed. For being a "fast food" option near us the food is so much fresher and healthier than other fast food. We haven't dined in yet, but I appreciate that the place is always clean, well lit, and inviting. It's also nice that they have an area right up front for online orders and food delivery drivers (pictured). My husband really likes the Olgas 'sandwiches'. They aren't quite enough food for him, so he usually gets a side salad or curly fries. He's tried 3 or 4 of the Olga's now and has been very satisfied. I love the spinach pie, though its usually soggy by the time I get it home. I like to re-heat it in the oven for leftovers to crisp the phyllo dough back up. I also enjoyed the white bean chicken chili. I usually prefer a little spicier, but it was still tasty. I really liked the Honey Bourbon Salad with Chicken. I had it without the dressing (I don't care for salad dressing). It was a really good size salad, and had a good amount of chicken, bacon, and the rest of the toppings. I will absolutely order this again! No pic, because I ate it too fast! I am also extremely pleased with the level of customer service from this location. In one of our pickup orders I didn't realize until I was all the way home that they had left out my husband's Olga. We called the store and were right away given to a manager. She offered us a couple of options to make it right, understanding that not everyone wants to drive back out to the store to pick up what was left out. We ended up with a coupon code emailed to us that I was able to use on our next visit. I appreciate that she wanted to make it right, and provided a couple of solutions, letting us pick what was most convenient. My only gripe about this location is that they don't offer all of the menu items posted on the main Olga's Kitchen website. The fried chicken Olga and sesame grilled chicken Olga both sound so good, but aren't available at this location. Bottom line: I'm so happy Olga's opened this express location on Alpine! I've already picked up 5 or 6 times and anticipate MANY more visits in the future.

I've been going to Olga's in Detroit area since the 1980s. This new location in Grand Rapids area is a huge disappointment. I was surprised that you walk up and place and pay for your meal then take a number and find a seat. Unlike other locations. All the food was served at once. Whereas other locations you would get the soup and salad, then later your sandwich. So the sandwich was cold by time I finished the tiny cup of soup and tinier salad. I've ordered the Trio combo before, and the portions weren'tthat small. You are served with real plates/bowls, but you have to use plastic utensils. Not a fan. I will not return.

$27 worth of tasteless food....

The price and the quantity and the quality are all suspect. Avoid at all cost!

Oh. My. Heavens. For…read morethose that don't know, I will only leave a review if I'm extremely impressed or very disappointed and dissatisfied. I'm a huge snob, even when it comes to dive restaurants. I have resolved to only write positive reviews on places that I believe truly deserve the praise they have earned. This is one of those places. This joint is completely unassuming. Sparse decoration, low drop-tile ceiling, brightly lit (too bright for your usual Mediterranean joint), HDTV menus near the front register... But, does a restaurant need anything other than a great menu and delicious, freshly prepared, well-spiced fare to be an amazing experience? I answer loudly "NO!" This restaurant is wonderful. They serve some of the best Mediterranean food I've had, and I've been many places throughout the US and internationally. Finding this in my own back yard makes me so happy to live in GR. My wife and I split the spicy feta fries, which neither of us could stop shoving in our mouths. Now, a bit about me - I survived a massive heart attack five years ago. Five bypasses. Month in a coma. Six months learning to walk again. I SHOULD NOT BE EATING FRIES!! And yet... I couldn't help myself. Each bite was perfection in crispy potato form. And a heavy garlic presence. The toum is worth it. Completely worth it. Gives Sheshco a serious run for best in town. Not greasy or too "mayonnaise-y." She had the shish tawook ("chicken kabob") and I had a gyro pita. Her chicken was stunningly tender and temptingly well-seasoned. Rice was floral and delicious. Hummus, not quite garlicky enough, but smooth and refreshing. And the Nutella cheesecake was heavy and smooth and wonderful. My gyro was obviously done in-house, same as the pickled turnips ("liyft"). love pickled turnips, and I truly believe that these aren't the commercially available jarred ones. Gyro meat was well-spiced, perfectly tasty and amazingly tender. The service was warm and friendly. Wife and I will be back again...and again. We hope to see you there!! Worth a drive and some time. Bring an empty tummy and get ready to enjoy!!

Came in this evening to get some dinner that wasn't a burger or pizza. It wasn't our first time and we were greeted promptly by a staff member. We talked for a moment while we looked at the menu which he told me was updated 3-4 weeks ago. Long story short, I ask if I can order some single items off the "extras" menu to put together some food since they got rid of their old platters and beef kabobs. Of course, they say yes and after a few more minutes of discussion, we put in an order and have a sear. 10 minutes later, our food is done and the staff member brings over our food. I say thank you and we head out. Once we get outside, I make the comment to my wife that the bag feels SO light. Once in the car, I hand it to her, and she agrees. We get home and open the bag (it's stapled at this point) to start unpacking - the portion sizes were ridiculous. So ridiculous in fact that I threw each container on the food scale to see how bad it actually was. Spoiler alert: inconsistent portion sizes, incredibly small for the cost, and not even what we expected to get. Photos attached - 2x 16 oz. rice orders, one 10.19 oz and the other 11.75 oz., 2x beef shawarma orders, one 4.13 oz., the other 2.68 oz., and finally, 2x chicken tawouk, one 6 oz., the other 4.37 oz. Total price, $33'ish dollars for two portions about the size of a Panda Bowl. So, I called the shop - the same person who rang us up and brought us our food picked up the call. I explained the issues and he was receptive. He apologized and asked what he could do to make it right. He also said that the portions are packaged off site (I assume at their other location) so it sounds like they just reheat precooked food vs. actually prepare it fresh. I told him that I appreciated the gesture but we wouldn't be back - the cost, the portion size, and now knowing it's essentially reheated leftovers is enough for me to drive a bit further, save a couple bucks, and have an actual meal.

We were instantly greeted and everyone was very friendly. The menu is kinda intimidating with so many options and everything having unique names. The staff said they'd help us walk through it all, which was helpful. There are literally 26 different things you can add to your order. My wife ordered a bowl and I order a pita, which they call a "sandweech" for some reason. The portions were large but it somehow got pretty pricey, even though I felt their menu was very reasonable. We each added a fountain drink and then I asked for a side of garlic, assuming it would come with a bunch of pita bread to dip. They asked if we wanted chips or pita, and we said pita. We got 1 piece of pita to share and basically a tub of garlic. It was comical and disappointing. I'm not sure if this is normal or we needed to pay for more pita. We each had half of a pita to dip in a jug of garlic. Overall, the food seemed fresh and it tasted great. The dining area was very clean and the parking was simple. Our only complaint was the side not coming with more pita. After looking at the menu from our table, I realized they could have made ours both a combo, since we ordered drinks and one side, and we could get another side as well, but they never suggested that. We'd probably come back in the future but there are a ton of pita places around town, especially locally owned options.

They'd only been open for a week or two, but the service was smooth and friendly. There is some space to dine in but if you have a large group it might be best to take it to go. The menu is simple yet kind of overwhelming as many things are customizable. They have bowls, wraps, quesopitas, sides, salads, and soups. You can make any of the entrees into a combo for an additional $5, which gets you a drink and a side. I went with the fattoush salad with dark meat chicken and feta, and Nate got the "sandweech" (wrap) combo with gyro meat. It was a bit tough to order as it was really loud in there with a lot of beeping/alarms going off and a lot of people talking all at once, so be aware if you are hard of hearing because I think that would be really difficult. However, the employees were all friendly and helpful with suggestions. I was asked some questions I didn't really know the answers to like if I wanted oil on my salad (after the dressing had been added)... so I just asked what the recommendation was. The food is prepared in front of you and everything seemed fresh. I was impressed by the size of the salad - we definitely could have split it. The chicken was juicy and seasoned well, and I loved the crunchy pita. Nate's gyro sandweech was also delicious, with plenty of sauce and tender meat. But the star of the show for me was the hummus and pita. This is the best hummus I've ever had in my entire life. It was SO creamy and flavorful. I could eat the entire container by myself. The pita was crispy and perfect to dip. They have some weekly specials that I'm interested in checking out (like Tuesdays when you can get two Dearborn sandwiches for only $10). You can order online ahead of time and they have a rewards program. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and more of that hummus!
