Excellent food and wine. We called to see if we needed a reservation around 1:50 pm on a Saturday. We were told we could be accommodated and I informed them we would be there in 10 minutes. We arrived at 2pm and were seated at one of the tables. We tried few wine samples and our order was placed for food by 2:07 PM. Bruschetta was good, wine was lovely. Caesar salad was authentic . Our meals were very delicious! We did not linger once our food came we ate and enjoyed our meal. The bummer came when at 2:55 PM our server(same person we spoke with on phone) came and told us that there was a reservation for our table at 3PM! instantly felt rushed and like we were in the way. Not a good feeling. We were so excited we were planning to get dessert but instead we got espresso and quickly drank them and left. We were out of our seats by 3:10. I would kindly recommend that this not be repeated. I know it's a cozy restaurant with few tables but I would have preferred to be told that there is a reservation for a table immediately upon arrival and given a choice of want to sit there? This was a special day until that comment. The young person who told us had been lovely and helpful but once that was stated we instantly felt bad. We spent almost $200 and left feeling like we were a bother. I wanted to give 5 stars because it was such a lovely meal but we left feeling uncomfortable. It should be said we pulled away from parked right in front at 3:15 and did not see anyone go in the restaurant for 3:00 reservation? read more

So the most amazing dish is now not on the menu. Not sure I would go three times a week anymore without the dish. ONE HAS TO MAKE RESERVATIONS IN ADVANCE MORE THAN A DAY IN ADVANCE. High-end Italian, rare for a small town in the Upper Midwest. New York tight seating, room quite loud. Mean age of patrons: mid 30s. Wait staff is young, attentive, well-trained and well-groomed. Tables are hard to get, extremely popular. Try to go with three or more unless you enjoy being a part of your neighbors' conversations at the tables for two. The only bad thing I had was burned sourdough bread, which should never have been served. Perhaps a minor problem with quality control, everything else was fabulous. read more

We went for a celebratory dinner at Olio in Bayport for a second visit. The first time we went we loved the food, service, atmosphere and couldn't rave about the restaurant enough to others. We were excited to go back and bring another couple with us to experience it. However, the second time going we had a different evening. Because the restaurant has limited space and seating, the one room without the bar has tables that are quite close together. The problem with this configuration, is that if one party is loud, really no one else in the dining space can hear. Last night the food was still wonderful and the service was adequate. I am leaving this review, because the restaurant owners/service individuals need to know and intervene if they have a group in that space that is being extra loud. Really, no one else in the room can talk or have a conversation. It went on the entire hour we were there and was awkward for everyone else in the room. The couple next to us also voiced frustration. Please help an awkward situation be better, and with grace, let a big party know that everyone is wanting a good dining experience. Not Olio's fault, but needs to be addressed when it happens. We probably won't be back unless we could guarantee the one of the two tables that is in the bar/kitchen space. It sort of wrecked $200+ dinner. I never leave reviews and don't want to be negative about such a wonderful little gem of a restaurant. But it really did affect our experience dining out. read more

This new restaurant in Bayport Mn and is a Hugh success.We had the burnt carrots it was amazing and I had the chicken parmigiana it was also amazing with a new red sauce taste.Wow is all u can at about this place great service, food, freshest ingredients and to your table quickly to eat. I live two blocks from Olio and have tried multiple dishes. All have been delicious and flavorful.

The sourdough focaccia bread was EXCELLENT! I didn't care for the tomato sauce dipping sauce. It was WAY too sweet. I wish people would stop putting sugar into tomato sauce!!! Ugh! It's nothing real Italians even do! Why does America need to have sugar in everything we eat? We ended up splitting the short rib with risotto. The short rib was cooked in a tomato sauce that wasn't great. The risotto was excellent. I probably wouldn't eat here again. I wish they had a marinara sauce instead to put on things. I'm not a huge fan of tomato sauce, but marinara sauce, made with San Marzano tomatoes: now you have my full attention. It's a super small, but quaint place and it fills up quickly. There's no TV's which I super appreciated. They had a cute bar and lots of drinks. read more

If I could give more stars I would. The ambiance is comfortable and inviting, our server Sam was patient, knowledgeable and on top of it. Food was top notch. I ordered the pappardelle and cherished every bite. A taste combination I would never expect with tuna, dill and olives. This is a must go if you are anywhere near the place! Three of us visited the restaurant on two occasions. We enjoyed the food and thought the preparation was inventive. One of our party is a vegetarian and there was only one pasta she could have on both occasions. Either need to change up the menu more often or increase the offerings. We would go back if the menu offerings changed so we could have more variety. Also we had never seen a restaurant charge for cream and sugar with coffee. What's with that? The coffee is already expensive and its over the top to add more for the regular offerings of cream and sugar. read more
