We were seated at a table that overlooked the court and a digital screen that flashed beautiful photos of Italy's top tourist spots. My kids were thrilled when they saw Venice, since they just learned about it in school. After ordering food, I took the kids to the bocce court while my partner could enjoy the wine and watch us from above. I know he appreciated having the break and a good glass of wine to go with it. Service was friendly and the food was fantastic. We ordered several dishes including several types of pasta, meatballs, cheesy bread and a caesar salad. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and a great vibe overall. I already have a reservation when we pass through Baltimore again in a few weeks.

The table was cramped and the ambiance of the downstairs bar area was dingy and dimly-lit. Our server, who was also the only bartender, did his best to multi task all night, although his demeanor was not very warm or friendly. I ordered the gluten free version of the Samantha fettuccine. Despite this being the only noodle they don't make in house, I had to pay extra for it. Annoying, but not totally unexpected. What was disappointing was the total price for the dish. It came out to be almost $50.... I believe the pasta is marked as market price due to the inclusion of crab meat but when it arrived, there was barely any in the dish. The flavor of the sauce was good but definitely not worth the price tag. I won't be returning anytime soon.

The pasta was cooked perfect al dente and the Scampi & Crab sauce was something unique to Baltimore. It's Crab & Shrimp simmered in a cognac, garlic & tomato cream sauce. All of this goodness is served over linguine. I love Maryland Crabs and to have them topped in a pasta dish makes my heart sing. I highly recommend this dish. For food we started with an order of garlic bread and we were quickly underwhelmed, it reminded us of Texas toast out of the freezer section and we didn't finish it. I ordered the chicken parmesan that came with broccoli, I'll start by saying the broccoli was the best thing on the plate. The food was rather bland and I felt like I could have made the same meal by grabbing a jar of marinara in the grocery store aisle. I wish I had a better review, I wanted to love this place but in between the food and service I was underwhelmed.

During my recent visit to Olio Italian Restaurant, my experience was, regrettably, less than satisfactory, compelling me to leave a 2-star review. I commenced my dining experience with a Caesar salad, which, to my surprise, was dressed not with the typical creamy dressing but with a house-made variant. This was a delightful twist, as the dressing proved to be quite good, providing a fresh take on a classic. For the main course, I opted for the chicken Marsala, a decision that unfortunately did not meet my expectations. The chicken breast was overcooked, resulting in a texture that was dry and stringy, a characteristic that significantly detracted from the otherwise flavorful sauce and preparation. It's well-known that chicken breast requires careful cooking to maintain its juiciness and tenderness, and it seems this detail was overlooked in my dish. On a more positive note, the accompanying asparagus and potato gratin were well-prepared, offering a satisfying blend of flavors and textures that complemented the meal. Additionally, the Sicilian margarita caught my attention. Initially, it was too strong for my taste, but after adding some sour mix, it balanced out nicely, turning into a refreshing beverage. However, the most distressing part of the experience occurred during the meal. While eating, I was startled to see a rat on the opposite side of the table. The unsettling sight was not a one-time occurrence, as my friend and I observed the rat running across again, casting a shadow over our dining experience. Such an incident is concerning and significantly impacts the overall impression of the restaurant's cleanliness and dining environment. While there were elements of the meal that I enjoyed, the overcooked chicken and, most notably, the presence of a rat during our meal are critical areas that need immediate attention. Dining out is as much about the experience and the environment as it is about the food, and unfortunately, Olio Italian Restaurant fell short in delivering a pleasant, worry-free dining experience on this occasion. read more

I don't usually write reviews however, this place definitely deserves a review. We had a party of 6 go there Friday night, and what a disappointment. We walk in the door to see, obvious employees/friends hanging out at the bar sampling different types of drinks the bartender was whipping up. We get to the table and the girl who sat us was apparently an off duty waitress asked if we wanted drinks before ordering, she takes our order and moments later our real waitress, who sounded and acted like she was drunk, said "we don't have any Coke" everyone changed their order only to find out that the only drink they have is Diet Coke! No other sodas, no sweet tea, no unsweetened tea, nothing. On a Friday night. We finally get our food, the pizza was mediocre at best and the Chicken Marsala was terrible, the mashed potatoes were like 3 days old or something and all was lukewarm. This place is a total mess, totally disappointed. Food, Service and Ambiance all horrible. The place looks like it could be a great restaurant however, they'd have to get new staff, have management on duty that cares , clean the place up and have basic supplies. I left a 1 star rating only because Yelp wouldn't let me leave 0. read more

Olio's in Fells is fantastic! Their Crab Bisque is incredibly rich and creamy, packed with delicious lump crab meat. What stood out to me was how beautifully herby the bisque was, adding a unique and delightful flavor that complemented the sweetness of the crab perfectly. The owner, John, was incredibly kind and clearly passionate about using quality ingredients. Our server, Bee, was very knowledgeable and helped us choose a fantastic Pinot Noir from their robust wine list. The Pinot Noir itself paired perfectly with their pizza, whoch had a fresh, thin crust that was fire cooked to crispy perfection. Their sausage is flavorful, and the cheese blend is just perfect. Their sauce isn't too sweet, and also resonated freshness in both tomato and herb. The atmosphere at Olio's is authentic and ornate, transporting you to a real New York/Jersey joint. My Italian New Jersey mother was fully impressed, which is hard to accomplish. The perfect Sinatra soundtrack adds to the ambiance, making you feel right at home. We started coming to Olio a few weeks ago for their pizza, which quickly became our favorite in Baltimore. The our son ordered a pasta dish and loved that too. We order pizza sometimes for pick-up and we also dine in the restaurant. The restaurant is amazing and the decor is beautiful. Olio recently opened and they have a small staff that does a great job but we need to continue and support these locally owned/operated business so they can grow and continue to provide the community with great food and service. And my son wanted to be sure that I added how Olio has the best deserts! read more

Olio Italian kitchen was an unforgettable dining experience for us. Visiting Baltimore, we were excited to try Italian restaurants but the two we visited in little Italy were disappointing. But then we found Olio's. Walking in the door we saw a gorgeous wood interior of the quality you would expect out of an old world restaurant in a grand hotel. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! I also ended up getting the dessert which was also very good. It was a bit too tart for my liking but that's entirely on me. It said lemon curd but I underestimated the tartness of it. The staff was welcoming and attentive, as always, inclusive of our 3-year-old companion, even though the place was pretty busy. We shared a Crunch Salad: small broccoli, sliced radishes, small apple and roasted sweet potato cubes, creatively elevated with dried cranberries and crisped pumpkin seeds, and a tangy lightly-sweet maple and mustard vinaigrette. Yep! Crunchy and refreshing! We had a colorful Wood-fired Asparagus & Rainbow Carrots appetizer: tender carrot tops and sliced almonds in a pesto, with tangy pecorino, brightened with honey and yogurt. A yummy slightly-sweet start to the meal. They make their famous Neapolitan pizzas using a super-fine Italian flour that gets a thin crispy veneer in seconds in their 800-degree oven, with a light chew that miraculously melts in your mouth. We always get one! This time we chose the Fungo Rosso: featuring generous savory black-pearl & oyster mushrooms, a mushroom-tomato sauce, and creamy housemade mozzarella, with a sprinkling of tangy sheep's-milk pecorino. Their Spring Onion Cavatelli is one of their elegant creations using just a few ingredients: tender pasta smothered in a green ramp-pesto, with charred spring onions and housemade-ricotta, over a thin gently-spicy almond macha salsa. We took their Housemade Stracciatella antipasta as a fun dessert: the creamiest burrata, tangled with fresh strawberries, strawberry-jam, and pickled green strawberries! Sprinkled with pistachios, some lemon, and bright basil oil. A sweet-enough flavor adventure! There's a good amount of nearby metered street-parking for this bright fresh simply-decorated restaurant. Hersh's has an intimate feeling indoors, with around 30 seats and benches at combinable tables of 2 to 4, and a 10-seat bar (with seat-backs). And since 2021, our favorite area, 30 outdoor seats at combinable tables of 2 to 4 on a roofed patio. We had a creative reasonably-priced meal and a pleasant relaxing evening at Hersh's, a favorite with a delightful Italian menu, just south of Fed Hill. With all their delicious offerings, don't overlook their great pizza!

The portion size was perfect. I ordered a nice glass of Italian wine and the Scampi & Crab Alla Sardegna. The pasta dish was amazing. The pasta was cooked perfect al dente and the Scampi & Crab sauce was something unique to Baltimore. It's Crab & Shrimp simmered in a cognac, garlic & tomato cream sauce. All of this goodness is served over linguine. I love Maryland Crabs and to have them topped in a pasta dish makes my heart sing. I highly recommend this dish. For food we started with an order of garlic bread and we were quickly underwhelmed, it reminded us of Texas toast out of the freezer section and we didn't finish it. I ordered the chicken parmesan that came with broccoli, I'll start by saying the broccoli was the best thing on the plate. The food was rather bland and I felt like I could have made the same meal by grabbing a jar of marinara in the grocery store aisle.
