Came here for a lunch meeting based on recommendation from others. Weather was nice so we did seating on the outside lounge. It is fairly close to the highway so maybe not the best choice if the weather isn't beautiful. The service itself was fine. We got there right when they opened so a little confusion if we were able to sit prior from the host that greeted us, but we were told by another it was fine. As for the food, I had the fish and chips and the lobster bisque for a starter. I was very disappointed in the soup but the fish and chips did make up for that. Overall this is a good spot and I can see why people come back. A nice spot that isn't a chain that delivers some good food (assuming you don't end up with something like the bisque we had). read more

This has been our local "date night" go-to spot for years and has never disappointed. We love their diverse menu that in spite of offering a lot of variety has unique dishes and you can tell the care put into each one. There are always specials and they even include mocktails in their drink specials. The service is always friendly and efficient. Plus, starting a meal with warm bread is a great way to get off on the right foot! I rarely get the same dish more than once anywhere, but their pork tenderloin dish is solid every single time (and is large enough to have for lunch the next day too!) It's not exactly a cheap night out but the quality of the food matches the price. Do yourself a favor and order a side of fries, they're skin-on, fresh and delicious. Best in the area. Also, if you can't save room for dessert, it's worth bringing one home for later as they're delightful! The ambiance is warm and makes it easy to forget you're basically right next to a major highway. It's chic, nice background music and soft lighting. I stop by Olio anytime I travel to Groton or Mystic. It's a homey and delicious bar restaurant. The food is non traditional Italian comfort food, made with fresh pasta and local ingredients. When asking for recommendations, our server suggested their most popular dish, the Lobster Linguine. Absolutely delicious. We made the reservation in February for my 50th birthday party. Olio was so acceptable and helpful . My best friend worked with them to have appetizers on the table when they got there and they delivered. The food was incredible. The atmosphere for our group of 12 people was perfect. The espresoo martini was to die for. Just so perfect. Everyone enjoyed there food and we would surely go back if we were in the area again. They were so understating with allowing us to split the bill into separate checks. Anything we asked for they did I cant rave enough about this place. When I travel to Groton I used to look forward to eating at Olios. This past visit, the Gnocchi came out cold, steak was way overcooked, clams were not stellar as prior, and seats had stains. On a very busy (and NOISY) night the food was fantastic. The service not so much as it took over twenty minutes from the time we were seated until we saw out wait staff. The food however was very good. The bread that they delivered to the table was fresh and very tasty but we thought it odd that for two of us our server brought an odd number (3 small pieces) for a party of two, weird. My wife went with one of the specials. Scallops served over fettuccine in a parmigiana and cream sauce. She didn't leave anything on the plate and said it was great. At 30.99 the four scallop portion was a bit on the stingy side. I went with chicken parmigiana listed to be served with fettuccine but I asked to change it to angel hair without trouble my request was met. Unlike my wife's dish my piece of boneless chicken was huge and the amount of angel hair pasta was equally as impressive. The taste was some of the best I've ever had and at 27.99( I think) I was very happy. Not our first time here and certainly not our last. We would have given it five stars if not for the noise (it was hard to have a conversation with each other) or had our server been more attentive. read more

The cocktails are great- among our group we tried the espresso martini, gingerbread martini (seasonal), and several other cocktails that were all delicious. They also have an extensive wine menu and beer as well! We tried the mozzarella appetizer and the sauce was phenomenal! For my main, I had the penne alla vodka with shrimp. I met some friends at Olio. First time for all four of us. Nice atmosphere-stylish with a contemporary black and white look. We each had a glass of wine (Why not?). We were provided with some delicious warm bread. I could taste a hint of Rosemary which we all loved. Brandi was our server and was friendly and accommodating. Calamari was first on our list. It wasn't a generous portion but the overall taste was "ok". Lightly breaded and fried. Meals were as follows: Hanger Steak with Chimicurri, Pomme Frits. My friend said the flavor was very good. She didn't think the steak was especially chewable enough for her. The Pomme Frits were very good. Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl- My friend said it was excellent and loved it. Nice portion. Chicken Saltimbocca - Another hit. My friends response was that it was very tasty and had an excellent flavor. It came with charred asparagus and creamy cheese grits. She loved it all. Penne ala Vodka with shrimp - The shrimp was very good. Plump and flavorful. The sauce was very good but not excellent. I'm picky with sauces. I've been here during prime time, which can be loud and fast paced, and I've been during quiet hours where it's more relaxed and calm. During slow hours I've noticed the place can be a little messy. Had a drink at the bar the other day and the floor was atrocious. Bartender and hostess were quite friendly. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. I've had food here a long time ago but I've got allergies and they didn't have a lot on the menu for someone with gluten and or dairy intolerances. We live so close to this place and didn't even know it was there for the first year! Underrated and not celebrated or talked about NEARLY enough in this community but it is fantastic!! The ambiance is so warm and inviting, the food is always super fresh and tasty. They have some basics but always have innovative specials and new items. Nice place to relax over a good meal. I had the Jumbo crab cakes, and they were excellent. The green beans were perfectly cooked with a slight crunch, the dauphinoise potatoes were perfectly seasoned. My companions selected the tofu burger with polenta fries (verdict: the tofu could use more flavor, but the fries were fantastic!), the spinach-ricotta gnocchi (verdict: would definitely order again!), and the special rice bowl with crispy cod (verdict: good flavors, enjoyed the combination). So, this was my first time to this establishment. It's somewhat upscale, trendy, easily accessible off I95. Upon entry, my nose began to devour all the aromas that Olio had to offer. The bar area is where I sat was delightful. Very open floor plan with a pretty decent selection off spirits. The wine list was moderately stocked as well. I tried the wine special which was a red blend of some kind. My palette was rewarded with the burst of flavor in that first sip. I'm not afraid to try new things. There was a Mediterranean lamb appetizer that caught my attention. The lamb was prepared well. The plate itself was nicely balanced with a gyro feel to it. My main course was awesome. I went for happy hour for the first time and was very impressed with their food, friendly service, and overall ambiance of the Restaurant.

Yesterday, Friday August 9th I came in for my weekly slice of carrot cake. This is something I look forward to all week. Every slice seems to taste better than the last. For something to taste this amazing you know it's made with the finest of ingredients especially the cream cheese which is so important for achieving the perfect texture and flavor. Dined at Olio for lunch today and ordered one of the items on the daily special menu. Lobster ravioli which was said to have asparagus and lobster cream sauce. The lobster pieces on top tasted like they were previously frozen, and the ravioli didn't seem homemade because the pasta was thick. The lobster inside of the ravioli was tasteless. There were very-tiny pieces of asparagus - barely noticeable. Olio is on the shore of New England and I would expect fresh product. The waitress assured that the lobster was fresh. In the end they credited me for half of the very-pricey dish. I wouldn't go to Olio again nor recommend it. read more

We met friends for lunch and were very excited as we love Red 36 and Bravo Bravo, companion restaurants. Unfortunately, we were greeted by someone having a very bad day. Was she that upset that we didn't like the table she sat us at? Her brusk manner was unnecessary. Our waitress on the other hand was attentive, and professional. We started with some wine and crispy calamari. It was perfectly cooked, very light and tasty. The men ordered the fish and chips which came out in a huge tower and they were very pleased with the freshness of the fish. I couldn't resist the fettuccine Alfredo, one of my favorites. Included in the creamy, cheesy sauce were grilled chicken chunks and broccoli spears. I was glad I ordered it. Carol had the gnocchi with pear and walnut, one of the daily specials, and she was very pleased. We had cappuccinos and tiramisu to end the meal and it was all very delicious. They also didn't skimp on the pricier ingredients. This is a fancier option in Groton and would make a great spot for date or other "event" spot. This is a really quaint restaurant with cozy ambiance and great food. Being vegetarian they accommodated us by allowing modifications to the menu. Potato skin appetizer and fresh bread is to die for. We tried the Crispy tofu burger which was good but lacked flavor as the tofu is simply fired with no marinade. The pasta, both penne ala vodka and Pappardelle With Artichokes were amazing. Service was a bit slow and were disappointed to find out that they would not serve the lava cake dessert as they had turned off the ovens at 9:30 pm!
