There are bad restaurant experiences, and then there are stories so bizarre that people genuinely think you must be exaggerating. ...this is one of those stories. What should have been a quiet Sunday dinner in Mystic turned into one of the most uncomfortable and surreal restaurant experiences my husband and I have ever had, all because we answered a question honestly after being asked. And the worst part is that this place had so much potential. Cucina at the Parthenon is set inside a gorgeous old bank building. The atmosphere is beautiful. The Caesar salad was honestly incredible, to the point where I would have gone back just for that alone. The meatballs were airy and perfect. Our server Connor was warm, attentive, and professional. The bartender and host were equally kind. For the first half of the meal, we genuinely thought we had discovered a fantastic restaurant. Then Allen, the man identifying himself as the owner, got involved. Allen came to our table while we were eating appetizers and asked how everything was. I told him the Caesar salad was amazing. We complimented the appetizers and told him everything so far had been excellent. Then the entrees arrived. My husband ordered the chicken parmesan. I ordered a pizza with prosciutto, kalamata olives, and arugula. The chicken parm was okay, although oddly sweet. The bigger issue was the pizza, because the kalamata olives still had pits inside them. My husband bit directly into one while eating. Thankfully he didn't crack a tooth, because someone easily could. Now let's make something very clear. We were not rude. We were not looking for free food. We did not send anything back. We were not making a scene. Honestly, we probably would not have even mentioned the entrees because it was not that serious and we were happy enough enjoying the appetizers and each other's company. But Allen came BACK to the table and specifically asked how the entrees were. So I answered honestly and politely. I simply explained that the olive pits were unpleasant and unexpected. That is when the entire situation became completely insane. He instantly became defensive and snapped, "That's how kalamata olives come." Then, while we were still actively eating, he grabbed the dinner plates off the table and told us, "If you don't like it, get out." Not joking. Not exaggerating. This actually happened. Then, after grabbing the plates, he called me a "bitch" loud enough for nearby tables and staff to hear. My husband was literally still in the middle of dinner when this man physically removed his plate from the table because he could not handle mild feedback about his food. When my husband asked for the bill, Allen yelled, "There is no bill. Get out." At that point, we were in complete shock and began leaving the restaurant. As I was walking toward the exit, he threatened to call the police because apparently we were not moving quickly enough for his liking after being publicly thrown out. Two calm people in their 60s. We were not intoxicated. We were not disrespectful. We were simply answering a question honestly after being asked. The entire restaurant had maybe five occupied tables. The staff looked absolutely mortified by what was happening. Connor was excellent and deserved a generous tip. We tried to leave one anyway. Allen would not allow it. This review could have easily been glowing. A beautiful space. A genuinely fantastic Caesar salad. Great staff. Completely destroyed by someone whose ego and hostility make customers feel unwelcome the second they say anything less than perfect. People should absolutely be aware before dining here, not only because apparently olive pits in pizza are considered acceptable, but because if you give honest feedback, you may literally be thrown out of the restaurant and verbally insulted for it. Mystic has too many wonderful restaurants to waste your evening being treated this way. Which is unfortunate, because that Caesar salad deserved a much better "owner."

I honestly don't think I can write a review that will do justice to this place! What a charming Italian restaurant in Mystic! I truly wish I could give it six stars. Everything about Pantheon feels authentic from the Italian staff, fresh homemade pasta made from flour imported from Italy, to the beautiful music playing in the background. Every item was executed perfectly. The caprese salad was flavorful and the balsamic was thick and rich. You could taste the freshness of the basil leaves, tomatoes and the amazing mozzarella. I ate every single bite. The homemade bread was the amazing blend of a crunchy chewy crust and a soft fluffy interior. The Bolognese was out of this world! The noodles were homemade and the sauce was a perfect blend of amazing sauce and fresh spices and ingredients. The service was fast, friendly and helpful. Everything was time out perfectly and I never once felt rushed. You must give this place a try! You will not be disappointed!

Came here with a larger group and had a nice time! The coordinators were able to make a reservation and they gave us two long tables next to each other which was nice. Parking can be a little hard in downtown but we were able to park a couple blocks away and walk. The inside has a nice atmosphere. The workers were all so nice and did great with a large group. One of the workers even offered us a stain stick when needed! The menu has a variety of salads, pastas, and other entrees. I ordered the tagliolini bolognese and enjoyed it. They brought out bread for the table that was warm and crispy. Yum! The bolognese portion was large and I had leftovers for later. Loved the fresh cheese that was added on top. Dish was good but I thought the price may have been a little high at $30. Overall a really nice meal with great atmosphere for a special event or nice dinner.

Romantic atmosphere, amazing food and wonderful service received from this amazing place in Mystic. The pizza was fresh and delicious. The bolognese pasta and the burrata cheese were excellent, and the grilled veggies were perfectly done. The owner personally greeted us and the waitress was very friendly. This place is highly recommended.

A newly arrived "sister" Italian restaurant serving authentic cuisine offering a genuine dining experience with high-quality traditional dishes, attentive service, and an inviting atmosphere characteristic of Italy. Authentic Italian Cuisine and Quality - Offering a comprehensive menu with classic Italian dishes such as fresh seafood (like swordfish)and popular entrees like eggplant parmigiana ensuring variety while maintaining authenticity. - Specialties cocktails reflect true Italian ingredients and absolutely raising the bar. Ambiance and Service - A relaxed, inviting setting seemingly avoids overcrowding and maintaining a trattoria or osteria feel, ensuring diners feel comfortable and welcome. - Attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable staff, offering an Italian heritage that enhances the authenticity by guiding guests through wine lists and menu selections tailored to traditional tastes. - The wine list contains unique Italian wines, including lesser-known but excellent regional varieties, enhancing the overall dining experience and complementing food. - Accommodating large groups with shareable portions (appetizers) and featuring dessert classics like ricotta cheesecake and tiramisu rounding out the dining experience with genuine Italian hospitality touches. - Location is connected to a well-regarded sister restaurant, established reputations for top-notch Italian cuisine Buon Appetito in north stonington CT. My experience was top Notch even while they were still ironing out all the kinks of a soft opening. I highly recommend stopping in for amazing Italian meal. Cheers

What an incredible transformation! This space used to be a brewery that always felt dark and uninviting, but now it has been completely reborn as a stunning Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and elegant, the service is attentive, and the food is outstanding. Every dish we tried was fresh and full of flavor. Such a wonderful addition to the area--I can't wait to come back!

Currently docked in: Paris!…read more Wow. Truly a phenomenal dining experience all around and I'm very sad I didn't think to take pictures. We went for an early seating yesterday and bravely brought our 8 month old. This was already a bold ask because this restaurant doesn't scream children but port of call took it with stride. We were accommodated with a highchair and several staff stopped to say hi to our baby. (For his part, our baby was relatively chill although a loud babbler, and no tears which we would call a win). Now onto the product. Absolutely phenomenal. We were wowed from start to finish. Every single drink, dish, and dessert far exceeded our expectations. The happy hour menu is very generously priced and had several favorites off the actual menu, as well as some items which I believe are available all the time. Our server (I'm very sorry I can't think of his name) was fantastic and offered excellent recommendations to like drinks on the current menu based on drinks we said we usually steer towards. Every drink (we had 4 different ones) absolutely knocked it out of the park. This would be an awesome spot for cocktails and apps with friends but is also a superb full service date night spot. We can't (and won't) stop raving about port of call!!!

This restaurant provides a higher quality meal than 99% of restaurants in CT. To the detriment of an otherwise fantastic experience: The overall experience here lacks some of the polish you'd expect from a restaurant operating at such a high culinary level. There seem to be consistent breakdowns of the overall communication, planning and operations throughout the restaurant experience. While the service team is friendly, capable, and professional, there are recurring lapses in communication and organization that affect the overall flow of service. These hiccups express a system lacking in polish and organization, perhaps due to a breakdown of cohesion, a weak overall structure, or management issues...? The intimate dining room is a part of the restaurant's charm, but it also leaves little room for error. Seating logistics and pacing require careful management, and we've experienced a few situations where communication between the front and back of house appeared to break down. To the staff's credit, any issues we've encountered have always been handled directly, graciously, and professionally. Port of Call remains a top dining choice, but the operational inconsistencies keep it from feeling like an automatic recommendation every time. Food: 5/5 Servers: 5/5 Finesse/Operations: 2/5

If you can't handle stairs do not come. The website's statement regarding it's accessible patio was not accurate. It looked like one existed but it was closed and they were not seating people there. Sometimes mistakes are made, and websites are not updated... but, my niece had confirmed via phone that this patio was accessible. We were completely blindsided. Members of our family ended up just going back to the hotel because we were a party of 14 people on graduation weekend with no other options. Furthermore, There were only two bathrooms and they were on the first floor. If the patio had been open, these bathrooms would not have been accessible for anyone with mobility issues sitting on that patio. And there was a line, and no soap in one of the two bathrooms On the good side, the dining room was pretty and open air. It was a nice atmosphere and the waitstaff was good. But the food was expensive, and disappointing for the price and the hype. The onion roll in the bread basket was fantastic, and the sour dough was ok, but I didn't love the weird unchopped ceaser salad with discs of bread and parm. It was just frustrating to eat even if the flavors were good. My husband didn't really like the buccatini. I can't really speak for anyone else in our party. It was really going to be a high bar to make up for members of our family having to leave and not being able to celebrate with us. It could probably be a great place if they just got their act together. Other things to keep in mind are that parking in this part of town is beyond insane.

S & P Oyster Restaurant and Bar is a very charming and picturesque restaurant sitting on the Mystic River with indoor and outdoor seating, and photographic views of the Mystic River. Each employee is very attentive to your needs, and everyone works together as a team to assure each patron is getting quality service and a great experience. We were greeted at the entrance by the Hostess and promptly shown to a table overlooking the Mystic River. Next we were greeted by Evelina our server. She handed us menus and the daily specials and took our drink order. Upon her return to our table she went over the daily specials asked if we had any questions and if we knew what we wanted or if we needed more time. We both ordered unsweetened ice teas as we had a 2 hour drive back home. My wife and I both enjoyed a delicious bowl of New England Clam Chowder. It was creamy, rich and chock full of clams and not that pasty style you get in so many places. I ordered 6 oysters on the half shell along with 6 littlenecks on the half shell. They were very fresh, plump, juicy and tasted like the sea. I can live off these 2 mollusks. My wife ordered a Harvest Grain Bowl. It was loaded with crispy Brussel sprouts, butternut squash, roasted chickpeas, red onions, heirloom carrots, arugula, dried cranberries, toasted almonds, farro, with an apple cider vinaigrette. She loved it!!! Me being a seafood nut ordered Seafood Ambrosia. YUM, YUM & YUM!!!. It was a combination of cod, shrimp, scallops, crab, and seafood stuffing baked it an individual cast iron frying pan. It was buttery, cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. It came with a side Mystic Salad that included artisan greens, radicchio, carrots, red onion, cucumbers, celery, and a honey balsamic vinaigrette. I recommend making a reservation for both lunch and dinner as they are one of the hottest restaurants in Mystic (especially during warmer months). If you have never been here I highly recommend giving it a try, I'm sure you will be as happy and as satisfied as I have always been with S & P.

Went here with my family this year on the Tuesday after Mother's Day and I had hyped the place up based on my wonderful experience last year. I was thoroughly disappointed with the menu selections and the food. The waiter told me they change out their menu from time to time. I sure wish they hadn't because the lump crab dip was delicious but the replacement was spinach and artichoke dip. The artichokes were not blended they were chunks and it was not in a creamy sauce but dry with shredded Parmesan cheese over the top. It was awful. I didn't even eat it. I also ordered the crab cake which wasn't good. Last time I had the crab cake, it was made with chuncks of crabmeat. This time it was shredded crabmeat and a lot of breadcrumbs. My son's girlfriend and my husband both ordered mussels and they each said they were okay. My husband also ordered what we call a crab imperial dish containing different kinds of shellfish, bread crumbs, cream sauce and cheese. Our son ordered a crispy fried chicken sandwich and he said it was delicious. I tried it and it was so good. The chicken was fried light and with tasty Chilean sauce on it.
