I've just grabbed some appetizers and drinks with a couple people, but Allen and his staff have been super friendly!

My girlfriend and I visited Cucina Al Pantheon for the first time last night, and we both agreed it was a 10/10 experience. The restaurant came highly recommended by another couple we know, so we decided to spend the day in Mystic and end our evening with dinner here. The service, food, and atmosphere were all amazing. Our server, Sam, had a great personality and recommended the Chicken Parm, which was outstanding. We also enjoyed a bottle of wine and tried the crème brûlée, which was easily the best I've ever had. To top it all off, the owner was kind enough to send us off with a parting gift. As a couple who both work in the hospitality industry, we really appreciated the level of care and attentiveness that went into our overall experience. We'll definitely be back. read more

I stopped in for happy hour on a Monday, which started at 2:30. We ordered the westerly packing sopprosatta pizza, 12 oysters for buck a shuck, and the antipasto. The staff were very welcoming, just as I remembered from the last time I visited Mystic. The dough on the pizza was delicious, crisp, yet soft, the cheese was fantastic, stretching with every bite l. Ironically, there was no sauce, but it didn't need it, as the hot honey blended perfectly with the sopprosatta. The antipasto was great, packed with lots of meat...everything was fresh and the prosciutto was a standout. The peppers were refreshing and the lettuce had a light and refreshing dressing. We were very thrilled to enjoy two dinners at the Pantheon during our three-night stay in Mystic. The first dinner we were pleasantly cared for by our server, Isaiah. He was extremely friendly and personable. We opened with the delicious SHRIMP POLENTA, which we found well-prepared with fresh shrimp. Later Julie had a lobster roll and I had the burger. We were very satisfied with both. The second night, Cole waited on us. He was just as personable as Isaiah, and provided us with much of the building's interesting history. We ordered spaghetti and meatballs and Caesar salad with steak dinners. Both were savory! It was obvious to us the restaurant pays attention to customer interaction and satisfaction. Dear Yelp, Was in Mystic and popped in for dinner on a Friday. Are outside, beautiful. Wait staff was attentive and helpful. My daughter enjoyed her mac and cheese. My husband had the mussels - really good. We shared prosciutto pizza. We ordered it with gluten free crust but waitress came back to say they were out. Not a deal breaker, just a disappointment as I'm gluten sensitive, not allergic. They offered gluten free pasta instead but I was not interested. Came here on a Sunday night and the place was pretty empty, which was super surprising for mystic on a weekend in summer. Especially since the building is very nice, both inside and outside. The food was mostly good, we really liked the pizza and the fries. However the pasta was messed up in three ways: slightly undercooked, bland, with a pretty runny sauce. I won't lie I did finish the plate so none of these offenses were unrecoverable, but for the price and for it being an Italian place I was disappointed. I also was disappointed in the service, our glasses sat empty for a long time and we asked for the fries to come out first (asked to have them as an app) and that didn't happen. Overall not a bad restaurant, but super pricey (we paid $100 for the food pictured and 2 glasses of wine), for the price I want the experience to be a bit smoother. read more

I honestly don't think I can write a review that will do justice to this place! What a charming Italian restaurant in Mystic! I truly wish I could give it six stars. Everything about Pantheon feels authentic from the Italian staff, fresh homemade pasta made from flour imported from Italy, to the beautiful music playing in the background. Every item was executed perfectly. The caprese salad was flavorful and the balsamic was thick and rich. You could taste the freshness of the basil leaves, tomatoes and the amazing mozzarella. I ate every single bite. The homemade bread was the amazing blend of a crunchy chewy crust and a soft fluffy interior. The Bolognese was out of this world! The noodles were homemade and the sauce was a perfect blend of amazing sauce and fresh spices and ingredients. The service was fast, friendly and helpful. Alright. We started with drinks at the bar - lovely bartender, fun experience. Got seated once the rest of our party arrived - there were 7 of us. We did wait a bit to get someone to take our order, then Sam came to take care of us, but it was 50 minutes til we ordered. I got swordfish with asparagus risotto - the swordfish was a wee bit overdone, but the risotto was really good. The vodka rigatoni was ordered by a few people and it was a bit salty. The 4 cheese pizza was ok - I did not try it, but it was tried by 3 others and rated crispy and ok. My sister in law liked her eggplant parm. There was no bread, so we were offered 4 free desserts- which was lovely. We LOVED the desserts - I don't even like tiramisu and I really liked it! Cheesecake was delicious and the lava cakes were a hit. There was a little confusion over 6 vs 9 oz pours for the wine - I was only asked once what I wanted and the price was significantly different. Like $23 for the 9 oz rose. The staff was very kind - they were not always nearby and would disappear at times, but our interactions were really nice. We were busy celebrating our nephew's graduation- so we enjoyed ourselves and were grateful for the time together. A few bumps here and there, but we had a lovely evening. read more

Came here with a larger group and had a nice time! The coordinators were able to make a reservation and they gave us two long tables next to each other which was nice. Parking can be a little hard in downtown but we were able to park a couple blocks away and walk. The inside has a nice atmosphere. The workers were all so nice and did great with a large group. One of the workers even offered us a stain stick when needed! The menu has a variety of salads, pastas, and other entrees. I ordered the tagliolini bolognese and enjoyed it. They brought out bread for the table that was warm and crispy. Yum! The bolognese portion was large and I had leftovers for later. Loved the fresh cheese that was added on top. There are bad restaurant experiences, and then there are stories so bizarre that people genuinely think you must be exaggerating. ...this is one of those stories. What should have been a quiet Sunday dinner in Mystic turned into one of the most uncomfortable and surreal restaurant experiences my husband and I have ever had, all because we answered a question honestly after being asked. And the worst part is that this place had so much potential. Cucina at the Parthenon is set inside a gorgeous old bank building. The atmosphere is beautiful. The Caesar salad was honestly incredible, to the point where I would have gone back just for that alone. The meatballs were airy and perfect. Our server Connor was warm, attentive, and professional. The bartender and host were equally kind. For the first half of the meal, we genuinely thought we had discovered a fantastic restaurant. Then Allen, the man identifying himself as the owner, got involved. Allen came to our table while we were eating appetizers and asked how everything was. I told him the Caesar salad was amazing. We complimented the appetizers and told him everything so far had been excellent. Then the entrees arrived. My husband ordered the chicken parmesan. I ordered a pizza with prosciutto, kalamata olives, and arugula. The chicken parm was okay, although oddly sweet. The bigger issue was the pizza, because the kalamata olives still had pits inside them. My husband bit directly into one while eating. Thankfully he didn't crack a tooth, because someone easily could. Now let's make something very clear. We were not rude. We were not looking for free food. We did not send anything back. We were not making a scene. Honestly, we probably would not have even mentioned the entrees because it was not that serious and we were happy enough enjoying the appetizers and each other's company. But Allen came BACK to the table and specifically asked how the entrees were. So I answered honestly and politely. I simply explained that the olive pits were unpleasant and unexpected. That is when the entire situation became completely insane. He instantly became defensive and snapped, "That's how kalamata olives come." Then, while we were still actively eating, he grabbed the dinner plates off the table and told us, "If you don't like it, get out." Not joking. Not exaggerating. This actually happened. Then, after grabbing the plates, he called me a "bitch" loud enough for nearby tables and staff to hear. My husband was literally still in the middle of dinner when this man physically removed his plate from the table because he could not handle mild feedback about his food. When my husband asked for the bill, Allen yelled, "There is no bill. Get out." At that point, we were in complete shock and began leaving the restaurant. As I was walking toward the exit, he threatened to call the police because apparently we were not moving quickly enough for his liking after being publicly thrown out. Two calm people in their 60s. We were not intoxicated. We were not disrespectful. We were simply answering a question honestly after being asked. The entire restaurant had maybe five occupied tables. The staff looked absolutely mortified by what was happening. Connor was excellent and deserved a generous tip. We tried to leave one anyway. Allen would not allow it. This review could have easily been glowing. A beautiful space. A genuinely fantastic Caesar salad. Great staff. Completely destroyed by someone whose ego and hostility make customers feel unwelcome the second they say anything less than perfect. People should absolutely be aware before dining here, not only because apparently olive pits in pizza are considered acceptable, but because if you give honest feedback, you may literally be thrown out of the restaurant and verbally insulted for it. Mystic has too many wonderful restaurants to waste your evening being treated this way. Which is unfortunate, because that Caesar salad deserved a much better "owner." read more

We chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary and, unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The venue itself is beautiful and our waitress was excellent - friendly attentive, and the highlight of the evening. There was also only one other table occupied the entire time we were there, so the restaurant certainly wasn't busy. The problems started when we ordered our usual premium tequila neat. We immediately knew it wasn't the brand we ordered, and it appeared they had substituted it with a less expensive tequila. Next, we were told the burrata salad wasn't available because they had run out of burrata. To make matters worse, the entree both my husband and I had planned to order-the rigatoni vodka -had also been altered because they they were substituting the creamy burrata with mozzarella, The burrata is what makes that dish special, and mozzarella is not an equivalent replacement. It was incredibly disappointing that so many menu items or key ingredients were unavailable so early in the evening, especially when the restaurant remained nearly empty. For a special anniversary dinner, we expected much better. With so many outstanding restaurants in Mystic, we won't be returning. read more

We walked into Mystic for dinner. We ordered a Caprese salad that had unripe tomatoes and had no basil. When we mentioned it to the waitress she said she would bring basil which took 15 minutes to arrive. We also ordered a pizza which came without cheese and had a clump of hair. The waitress offered to get a fresh pizza but the owner then arrived. He was holding the hair and informed us that no one in his kitchen had grey hair. He became increasingly aggressive when we asked if he was really implying that we planted the hair. At this point we were "banned" from his restaurant. On Tuesday August 4, 2026 I stumbled upon a great local band Tony Marshall Band playing on the sidewalk patio. I decide to go on the patio and have a beer and listen. A couple times over 20 minutes I mentioned to staff the house music speaker should be shut off while the band is playing, no sense paying for a band if the house music is on. The 3rd time I asked the staff member said she asked already. She was busy so I went to ask the inside help and asked who was in charge of turning it off. This lunatic approached me up in my face and said he was the owner "Allen Staigers" and called me a fucking piece of shit and to get of his establishment! This guy needs to go! Nobody with skills like this is deserving to be dealing with the public. In looking at other reviews he does this to patrons. A consumer protection report and police report are being filed. DO NOT GO HERE until the restaurant fails under this so called leadership and reopens or has new ownership. read more

Wow...what a find! I agree with the other reviewer I would give the six stars, but I could! Hubby had tagliatelle Bolognese and I had a salad with feta cheese, green peppers, tomatoes, Kalamata, olives, and thinly sliced red onion that was out of this world. We won't be coming to Mr. Goffin, but we are definitely stopping here again! Also the atmosphere is fantastic, I think this is an old bank building, but it is beautiful old building. For an Italian place there was only one pasta choice we saw for an entree. The pizza we ordered was sizable but it was not exceptional. Expensive drinks and sloppy presentation...My friend and I decided to try this new Italian restaurant in Mystic. I ordered their halibut special and my friend ordered their seafood pasta with a gluten free option. Prior to our entrees we received bread that was delicious and warm. They did not have a gluten free option for my friend. My dinner came out with a respectable portion of halibut and a large dump of couscous and no vegetables. My couscous was a weird combination of what tasted like the leftover from the seafood pasta. I mentioned my distaste of the side and requested a side of vegetables instead. The waiter brought back some carrots and broccoli that tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. I was surprised when we got the bill to find my special was $44; way more than their swordfish on their main menu with a similar presentation. The waiter knew I was debating between the two and she never told me the price difference and I didn't think to ask. It left a bad taste in my mouth to say the least. Our dinner totalled $180 with tip. A lot of money for food presentation and taste that was not up to par. We each got one cocktail. They were good but on the pricey side. This restaurant seems more authentic Italian versus the normal American Italian restaurant. I got the eggplant Parm which was absolutely amazing. My husband got pizza which was also delicious. We were visiting Mystic for one night and this place was recommended by a local waitress. We had high hopes but we're quickly disappointed. My husband ordered the chicken Parmesan with rigatoni. The chicken was good but the pasta was just hard and old tasting. I ordered the bolognese and white it was not terrible, it was just not what I'm used to. The bolognese here is made with only beef. I'm used to bolognese made with beef, pork and veal, so that rich flavor is definitely missing. Also, the pasta is supposedly fresh but it also was hard and not fresh tasting. I'm used to Italian restaurants in the NY and New Haven area which are top notch. This is most definitely not at that level, especially for what they are charging. read more
