This why each year we return to get our trees and garlands from Holt family lot of Burbank. As an example, today Gage helped us pick out a nice Norman tree, mounted it on our stand which we brought and then secured (tied) it to the roof of my vehicle with the biggest smile of sincerity. New to Burbank so we had to find a new xmas tree dealer - I'm typically happy with a working man's Douglas fir, but when we visited the lot weekend after thanksgiving, the only trees left were expensive Nobles etc, or larger Douglas Firs in the $100 and up range. Was about to just pull the trigger on the smallest Douglas we could find when we spotted the table top size Noble Firs for $45. The guy running the counter seemed annoyed at the last minute switch, but in fairness the budget trees were hard to find. Where's the holly jolly spirit? Also paid the $7 extra for the water stand, which we discovered on Christmas Day out had a crack in it all along. We were watering the tree constantly confused why the tree was constantly bone dry and turning brown. We didn't realize that the water was just pooling on the table. (it's a sort of butler tray table, and was covered w a tree skirt.) Threw the baby out with the bathwater on Christmas night when we discovered a mini flood. Will be going back to the Lions Club lot on Larchmont next year. Better selection, better prices, better xmas spirit. read more

After a few days of trying and failing to find a local tree lot that was open during posted hours, we found Oliver Holt and Sons (the new signage includes "and daughters," or "and family!" Yay for inclusion!) one morning. It's a small lot of individually prices, neatly organized trees. We picked a cute, fat little Douglas Fir to tie to the top of the car. The staff was lovely, answered my questions about keeping the tree hydrated, and helped us trim and post it to its base. They all wore masks and socially distanced, too. It's January 4th and the tree still looks great.... I'm sad to take it down! Prices are extremely reasonable and I'd definitely go back here for another tree or fresh wreath. read more

A little late review, but we're here. This review is for the customer service. Joey was great in helping my family and I pick a tree. He really knew a lot of information about the trees so it made us feel like we were talking to a real professional. Any tree here is great. We ended up getting one regular tree and one mini flocked tree. They both lasted a long time even after Christmas which is why this review is also for the quality. Easy process. Pick a tree. The bottom is cut. Just ensure the cut is straight as that will sit in your base more even/flush. Mine was crooked but I have a handsaw at home. The price was $100 for a 6 ft Douglass. I'd say about 10-15% more than a big box store. But it supports a small business. I was in and out in 10 min max. read more

Rude service! First a customer was making fun of me for wearing a mask and the employee went along with them. I ignored them and talk to someone else got my tree and brought my base from my year before and they put it on then. I had it delivered and they had no idea i brought it and took it off. They are completely overpriced. I've never paid $150 for a Christmas tree and it was only a 6ft tree. They didn't want to open up any new batches of trees and would only let my kids and I pick from the old leftover batches that people didn't want. Worst customer service I have experience buying trees in the last 20 years. I always went to the Burbank YMCA lot. This year I wanted to help a family business. But I learned my lesson. As if the price and the service wasn't bad enough, the kid rapping my tree broke all the branches while he was tying it on to my car. THE WORSE.. hands down. We will never go again. read more

$300 FOR A 7' TREE?? Who pays that much for a tree? Who even charges that much for a tree?! Terrible service, not customer friendly AT ALL. We got our tree delivered, set up with decorations, the whole thing as one does. After realizing they made a billing error, they demanded payment in full. The person we spoke to refused to work with us after we made repeated attempts to resolve the issue. Instead, Oliver Holt and Sons thought that the solution to the problem they caused by billing us incorrectly and charging our credit card incorrectly is not to give us a partial credit and call it a day. No, Oliver Holt and Sons are PICKING UP OUR DECORATED TREE. Apparently, Oliver Holt and Sons have so much business they do not care that their customer service sucks. Look out for our used tree in their lot but don't expect a discount on a gently used tree. read more

My boyfriend and I have gotten our tree from Oliver Holt and Sons for the past two years now and I honestly think this place is a local gem. This is your neighborhood Christmas tree lot, not a commercialized one. They have a good selection of trees and will tell you whether you are choosing a good one or not. Steven is great and helped us choose the perfect tree both years. He was very friendly and told me straight up that the tree I was eyeing was dried out and helped us find a fresh one. In fact, everyone I encountered here has only been friendly and helpful. They also know what they are doing and were very careful when placing and tying the tree to my car. They even asked if I had a blanket to place under the tree so it wouldn't scratch it. This was much appreciated! Lastly, tree prices are reasonable, much more so than the place on Riverside and Cahuenga! Hope to seem them around for years to come. read more

Was en route to Santa and Sons and stumbled across this family-owned and operated tree lot. What a glorious surprise! And at least $40+ cheaper than the place we were originally headed to. Found the perfect tree, healthy and beautiful, with stand and netting and they turned off some branches and strapped it to the car very securely. Friendly bunch of people and extremely helpful. This company has been family owned and operated for over 50 years and the pride shows! Will definitely go back again next year! read more

I'm bummed to have to not leave a stellar review because I've been getting trees from Holt and Sons for many many years. And I have gotten some beautiful trees there. But the last couple trees I've gotten here have really take a downturn in quality. Maybe I'm just unlucky with the trees I pick, but this year we got our tree a few days after Thanksgiving and I don't think it naturally has taken water through the trunk at all this whole time. It's now dry as heck and basically dead with over a week until Christmas. I pour water in the bowl and it just sits there. Even tried the "keep it green" stuff we bought at Holt and it hasn't helped at all. I spray the branches with water a few times a day but even that isn't helping. For some reason, this tree - and our tree last year- just haven't stayed fresh for even a week before they dry out despite my best efforts. Sadly will most likely be looking for a tree elsewhere next year :( read more

What a great tree lot! I will forever get my tree's here. I bought a 7 foot Noble and the quality of the tree was sensational. They are not discount tree's, but they are also not overpriced. They are fair and for the quality of the tree I am more than happy to pay for having a nice tree. I was also impressed by the service. I was helped out by two great young men, Kyle and Brandon. They were super. They were patient with me. One of them trimmed the tree for me, then they both put a bag on it and loaded it into my car. I don't like it on top of the car so they carefully put it in without any problems. When I got home the tree was perfect and the kids were so happy. This is an amazing tree lot!! I have been coming here for years and will continue to come here for ears to come. Everyone is so friendly and kind and helpful and wonderful. They have beautiful fresh trees, and always have my favorite tall, spindly, Charlie Brown style trees which nobody else ever has! This really is a family run business and I'm happy to support that. The pricing is not even that far off from a Lowes or Home Depot lot and you save the hassle of having to untie and stand up a bunch of trees all by yourself! That being said, if you don't see 'the one' they will spend as much time as you want untying more trees for you! They never act burdened no matter how indecisive or picky you are, and I really appreciate that because I'm admittedly pretty picky about my trees! I love coming here, my kids love coming here, and I'm always thrilled when I see their sign go up on that corner on Magnolia! Give up on the big box tree lots and you won't regret it! read more

their product is horrible. We bought our tree one week ago, and it's literally browning and dying. water is filled, and we have taken care of it - but it's dying. We paid $150 just to have it die in a couple of days. They were misleading and lied to us when we asked how long the tree would last and if it was fresh. They sold us an old, dry tree that will have to be thrown out way before Christmas. read more

First off: 2014 LOCATION: Macy's Parking Lot at Oxnard Boulevard & the 170. We drove to the old location, and found signs directing us here. As always, great tree selection, super friendly, and we find them to be super reasonable. We got a nearly 5 foot fir tree for $29. They bundled it up for us, we loaded it in the car. Easy, breezy, and as seamless a transaction as could be desired. The Balsam firs are much more expensive, and worth it, of course -- and they had a fine selection of those, too. They just weren't in our budget this year. We wanted a sweet, but perfect, small tree, and we found it there, like we did last year. Granted, we always try to get there mid week, during lunch hour, so it's not nearly as busy as it might be after work or on a weekend. We drove a little further to a place that allowed our dogs (on leash) and it was well worth the drive. They had a very good selection of trees whether you want a small one for table top, or you have room for a 25' tree (I'm estimating, but the tall ones were larger than I've seen at other lots). From the moment we drove up, we were greeted by a friendly girl that helped us pick out a tree, we found the perfect tree in record time. The lady decorating the wreaths does an excellent job and we don't usually buy fresh wreaths, but these were too pretty and affordable to pass up. Our stand had lost the rubber tips but they were nice enough to wrap them in a thick green tape that will protect our floors and attached it to our tree. They trimmed the trunk to keep it fresh longer and two guys tied it securely to our car for us. All in all a very good experience and we came home bathed in holiday cheer :) The parking is a little tricky, they share the driveway on Winnetka with the theater so if you pass that first driveway if you're headed southbound you have to make a u-turn. read more

It's been a very dry/hot winter this year and I had an unfortunate problem with my tree I bought from them. They were gracious enough to work with me and exchange it for a new one! super sweet of them and it was no hassle. In and out! ALSO, theres some people talking about their prices being 300 dollars for a 7ft? I don't know what they are talking about. Go see the prices yourself but they are certainly not that expensive. I actually went to the one on Olive near Warner Brothers. Picked out what I thought was a very nice and "fresh" 7 foot tree. Made sure it had lots of water. It was dead in 2 weeks. Delivery was $40 which is reasonable across town, but I live less than 2 miles away. Total tree cost was $170 and it didn't make it until Christmas. I won't go again. read more

The lot off of the 170 fwy off Oxnard in the Macy's parking lot is wonderful!!! A young man named Anthony helped me out and he was wonderful from the beginning to finish. I was very pleased with how quick and polite he was. It's always nice having a warm welcoming smile when shopping for a tree. Also, he tied the tree onto my car perfectly and quickly. I came here to buy a Christmas tree and the guy put the wooden stem on wrong and all the water leaked so I called them and I couldn't believe how they took care of me. They offered to come to my house and pick up the tree and fix it. I went and they fixed my tree and I experienced the best customer service ever. Went here on Dec. 19th against better judgement after reading reviews. It's close and I wanted to give them a chance. First thing I notice is that no one comes up to me to help even though there's a group of workers standing around guffawing it up - totally ignoring me. I was there over 10 minutes before someone came up and asked if needed help. To be fair, the young man was polite. I was looking at a little 3 1/2 foot tree. They wanted 47.95 for it. I said, ok, I'll take it (it's a week before Christmas, after all). Then they told me that a stand will be extra. 29.99 for a metal stand (lifetime warranty!) and a wooden stand with plastic bucket would be an extra $15! I've never had to pay extra for wooden stands... I said "are you willing to lose a sale over the cost of a wooden stand? I'll take it if the stand is included. " Nope - no negotiation. I thought tree prices went down closer to Christmas! I said 'no thanks. I'll look elsewhere." No attempt to get me to stay or negotiate. Not recommended. read more

I bought my Christmas tree here for the first time this year. I was immediately greeted, directed to the area I would find the type/size tree I was looking for and had several trees to choose from, already open and on stands. The trees were very organized, easy to view and fresh (I'm a florist and can spot a dry tree very easily). I was helped by two young men who turned the trees around for me so I could get a good look. When I selected the one I wanted, they trimmed the lowest boughs and the trunk for me (I kept the boughs) and they asked if I brought my tree stand so they could put in on the tree for me. I went home to grab it because getting the tree straight in the stand is the hardest part! They gladly shook the tree to remove loose needles, installed the stand and loaded the tree in my van. I'm always looking for a deal, and yes, they are a little more expensive than Home Depot (I went there too and had zero help with tied up trees laying in piles to choose from). I asked the cashier if they would give me a discount. They asked if I had a coupon, which I did not, but they gave it to me anyway. $10 off! Way to expensive! Got home and laughed we paid over a hundred dollars for a Charlie Brown tree. We are used to paying $80.00 for an 8-foot tree. This one looks like a dwarf and we paid so much. If the pain of the price tag doesn't get you the up-sale will. You don't need the 5.00 netting nor the 25.00 stand. I'm not sure why two guys had to carry my dwarf tree to the car. So I must confess this first...The family and I have been so busy and have been procrastinating this Holiday season. That means last second Christmas shopping and literally a last minute Christmas tree. The wife and I set out on our adventure to find a place open the day before Christmas Eve. We found this place Oliver Hunt and Sons Christmas Trees with a good amount of trees left. I walked on the lot with my 9 year old Daughter as my wife was meeting me there. I asked what kind of deals they had considering they had probably 50 trees left and probably wouldn't sell them all. Well, much to my chagrin there was no deals to be had with these Stooges and their trees. I asked for the cheapest tree and was shown a 3 Ft Tumbleweed for 25. Really??? I said last year I purchased a 7 ft Noble Fir for 45.00(tax and stand) at Home Depot. Bad move. I was explained those trees were cut in Oct and were not fresh, will die in 2 weeks while Ole Oliver has Fresh trees that last a month blah blah blah...Seriously. I could give 2 shits 1 day before Christmas when my tree was axed. So after that lesson I said I didn't wanna spend too much and he again gave me this gem "Not to insult you but spending 35.00 on a Noble is so 1957" hahahha ok there partner well I think it's more 2011 cuz that's what I paid just a year ago. I asked what I can get for 35. I was shown a row of Douglas Firs that were listed at 39.00 but I was getting that 4.00 discount. Score!! I waited for my wife to arrive and she pulled up about 5 minutes later. My wife and daughter choose a tree and I go to pay. Paul Bunyan rings me up and says 43.96. I say what happened to 35.00? His response was Gregory Peckesque. He says "Do you have a coupon or something"? I laughed and said "No, you said 35.00 out the door". He then looks puzzled and blurts "Ohhhh ok I forgot its been a longtime and I wasn't sure what I said. I mean that was a long time. Ok 35.00 plus tax" It was literally 5-7 minutes. I guess the attention span is shorter than the shelf life of a Home Depot Christmas Tree. At this point imma smack this goon but I just want the tree. I pay 39.19 for the tree. I mention I'm glad they are so willing to negotiate and help out since he came 4 bucks down off his overpriced bushes. No response. They load the tree and we roll off. I've never had a shittier 5 ft tree and paid 40.00 for it. Stay away from this scam. Next year back to Home Depot for a 40.00 tree that lasts the 3 weeks I need and is 7ft tall looking good.
