People always like to blame others when the pool goes down, or there is a water shut off. We had similar problems when we lived in our house, truly no one's fault. Wendy also worked diligently to get us our money back when there was an overcharge for the gas bill several months ago. This resulted in a complete refund of the over charge. We think people need to get their facts right before they share untruths in a review.

When we applied, we explicitly informed management that we had a child, and they approved us. We always paid on time, followed every lease term, and did nothing illegal. However, our experience turned into a nightmare. From the beginning, the downstairs neighbor constantly complained about basic, everyday daytime noise--such as walking, talking, laughing, or cooking. Instead of properly investigating or remaining neutral, the landlord, Lisa, immediately took the neighbor's side. quickly escalated into intentional harassment: Harassment & Sleep Deprivation: The downstairs neighbor started deliberately banging on her ceiling (our floor) in the middle of the night to wake up our child and force us to move out. Invasion of Privacy: Lisa actually sent maintenance/staff members to stand directly outside our apartment door to listen in and secretly record our private conversations on audio devices. This is a severe breach of privacy and completely unacceptable. Broken Lease Rules: While the lease strictly advertises a "non-smoking" policy, residents smoked throughout the entire building (from the 1st to the 3rd floor). The hallways and building constantly smelled like heavy tobacco smoke, and management did nothing about it. In the end, we were essentially forced out, wasting a huge amount of our time and money. Gates are routinely left open, and access to the garage does not feel controlled. While we were away, our vehicle was severely vandalized while parked in our assigned, paid space on the second level, directly in front of the building entrance and within view of multiple cameras. The vehicle's window was broken and the car was spray-painted inside and out, with significant interior damage. Management later stated they were unable to capture the vandalism in the footage, despite multiple cameras covering the area. That raised concerns for us about the effectiveness of the security system. Damage of this extent suggests prolonged, unnoticed access. There are also quality of life issues. Wind noise inside the unit can be very loud during normal weather and becomes more disruptive during storms. After submitting a maintenance request, we were informed that the dryers are unvented, which explained why it takes multiple cycles (up to 3 hours) to dry a normal load. To be fair, the front desk staff have consistently been kind and pleasant to interact with. Van Aken is a great place to dine out, too. At this price point (VIP UNIT), basic security and building performance should not be in question. Based on our experience, The Raye is difficult to recommend.
