Disappointing. Purchased a nice pair of glasses. Jose was very helpful in helping me select a pair of frames. The progressive lenses I test two weeks later did not suit how I am used to using them, and I have been wearing progressives for 8 years. They offered to redo the lenses. I came back several weeks later since I don't work in downtown SF, and the lens were just as bad the first time. In my three trips to pick up my glasses: I had to convince them that I've worn progressives in the past, and that I knew what I was talking about. They discussed me trying the lenses out for a week when I knew they gave me would give me a headache. (I think they wanted me just to walk out and never come back.) One person asked where I had gotten my progressives in the past as if that really matters. On my last trip, a technician takes my frames away and condescendingly says 'trust me.' He literally said that. He took the frames to the backroom and bent them. Geez. When I paid $800 for lenses, I just wanted them to be correct. It's not too much to task IMO when I can get lenses at Costco for $150. Instead, they decide to solve the problem by bending the frames. If that's not lazy, please tell me what is. This was so disappointing. I have purchases frames from there in the past, not sure why I would go there again. Similar to all the other reviews regarding their abismal customer service --I can confirm that they haven't changed. I came in and the sales person "Robert" just stood there awkwardly. I couldn't tell if he was a customer or actually worked there, I had to ask because he made zero effort to approach me or help me. I brought in my sunglasses to get repaired. The left temple broke off (it's happened before) and all you have to do is unscrew it and screw a new one back in. I almost had it done in New York but figured it'd be best to do it at my home store. Robert began to "lecture" me on how the acetate broke off and there's nothing they can do to repair it. I explained that I've had this done before and even another store said they can do it. He didn't seem to care to listen to anything I was saying and just kept trying to put the pieces together and saying yeah it's broken, this can't be glued, look at how the acetate is shaved off. He did not make any effort to think critically or even listen to what I was saying. He went in a couple times in the back to talk to Jose and made sure to close the door so I couldn't hear anything. He didn't bother to look me up in the system and confirm that my frames were out of warranty, instead he immediately tried to sell me on a new pair and give me 30% off. The impression that Robert gave me was that he was more interested in making a sale than to help a customer that's been loyal to Oliver People's for over 20 years. This is my last pair of frames from Oliver People's thanks to Robert's dismissive attitude and pitiful attempt to do anything to take this company's clientele. It's sad that people like him are representing this brand which has always stood for their quality and craftsmanship. Now they're nothing more than disposable according to him. If you value your time, money and ability to count on the repairability of these frames then look elsewhere since you won't find it here. read more

I've had one of the most frustrating experiences with this place. The stuff is not trained well even to use their internal system. My glasses were produced with wrong lenses. Communication as it was already mentioned here is non existent. You will need to beg them about your order status. I had no clue about the progressive lenses technology and almost killed myself while driving because of insane peripheral blurriness of the lenses they produced. They gave no heads up, no instructions how to use a product etc. The place itself is dated. One young guy there was just rude. The list goes on and on. They even gave me a damaged case for my glasses at the end. WTF. read more

I'm a big fan of OP, and I enjoyed working with Robert at this store. He's knowledgeable and patient! We found two styles that work for my petite Asian face: Riley sunglasses and Dawson titanium eyeglass frames. The store takes Eyemed eye insurance and offers a discount if you have VSP and you get both the Rx and frames through the store. It takes a great amount of charisma, tactfulness, and knowledge to be able to sell people $350 dollar pairs of sunglasses, but the experts in Oliver Peoples seem to have boiled it down to a science! The store is fairly new, having just opened last week, but seems to be doing fairly well already. I can see why: the interior is sheik, clean, and filled with knowledgeable salespeople. Thao, the store manager, is especially welcoming and helpful with picking out the perfect pair of glasses. I've been here on multiple occasions, and each time she has helped me and my friend find the right color, shape, and overall style we each needed. Finally, the glasses themselves look great. They are quality without being overly flashy and pretentious. They have sturdy frames and a huge diversity of styles to choose from. I drove all the way from the South Bay to come here. Had to find parking downtown and everything. Walked up to the store around 4PM on a Sunday the doors were locked. Inside I could see what looked like a salesperson and a customer. I kept standing trying to open the door. Looking for signs to see if maybe the store was closed already. No reaction from the salesperson who could clearly see me. Seems like they locked the door to limit people coming in during Covid. By law you can't do that... doors need to remain unlocked during business hours. Unacceptable. To not even come up to the door. Clearly just turning business away. I don't care if it's Covid. At least put up a sign or something. read more

One would expect a high quality of customer service from a company that sells such a premium product. Not the scenario at this location. Take warning to the poor customer service and build quality of their product. They DO NOT stand behind their own products. The glasses I had broke right at the weld point after some light use. The customer service at this store is ill informed and misleading. They will go to the point of making up lies in order to prove they are correct. They are more interested in arguing and upsetting their customers than helping them. I've never been so mistreated as a customer before. The selection was great but the service and follow up was non existent. I live in the peninsula and the person helping me forgot to take my pupillary distance and when I called back - never received return call or reply to my email. They also did NOT call me when the glasses were in so basically I had to follow up on my own. Jose finally helped me and shipped it to me for free but the other gentleman working there was not helpful. I called again this week to get receipt to get reimburse and not return call or reply to my email. Very disappointing for high end eyewear. read more

I had a pretty good experience here all-in-all with Jeff. I walked away happy with my purchase. Since I was planning on purchasing my first pair of eyeglasses, I wanted to make sure the frame was perfect for my face. I asked to see every option - not sure that I did. I'm pretty sure I was shown what he thought made the most sense for my face, which I didn't agree with at times so it would've been helpful to see everything and make my decision. After trying several on, I found one I really resonated with, and decided to get them. It wasn't explained to me that OP has proprietary lenses, but that there is also a non-proprietary lens option that exists. While I'm really glad to have the OP lenses - they are excellent- I can't help feel cheated out of the decision to choose what lenses I wanted - I don't like this type of sales approach, I really value honesty when it comes to transactional interactions. Suffice to say, I wasn't happy about that thus the -1 star. Getting the fit to be comfortable has been a challenge, but that's no ones fault. read more

I had lost my case on a flight recently and the sales associate was hesitant at first, but so kind as to give me a pair. Really cute glasses, really horrible people. Don't go here if you don't want to risk being harassed and treated like street trash. :( Went in today while I was pacing around on a long conf call. The store was invitingly empty and quiet, figured I would try on everything in the store, take pictures of them on, then narrow it down to 4-6 pairs and 2-3 sunglasses. (Ok yes I have a weakness ... I have walked out with a dozen pairs before ) Unfortunately, I soon became aware of a middle aged woman following me around the store and harassing me. She bitched to the male clerk about everything I did, then progressed to interrupting me and "requesting" that I not do various things, as well as putting back all my selections whenever my back was turned. I was trying on too many pairs, she said. It wasn't reasonable, she said.. I was leaving too many out to compare, she said. Every time she put things away I had to start over from scratch. Any time I walked a few steps down the shelf, she would carry my backpack to me and lay it pointedly at my feet with a glare. (Did I mention the place was dead empty?) She didn't like me setting glasses out to compare, and wouldn't tell me how many I was allowed to try on, so I started carrying a few pairs along with me to compare. That's when she decided that pairs of glasses aren't allowed to touch (!) because that would damage her inventory (!!!!). She physically grabbed the glasses from my hand, scolding me so rudely and loudly that my colleagues on the line heard every word. She laid into me like I was trashing her shop, not a customer. She said snottily they would be HAPPY to assist me if I ever ACTUALLY wanted to BUY anything Un.freaking.believable. I have blue hair right now, and I can only guess that she assumed I couldn't or wouldn't pay and was simply amusing myself at her expense. Lady, I am a tech CEO (distracted, I'll grant you) who really wanted to drop a couple thousand dollars there over the course of that phone call. All I wanted was to browse in a quiet, empty store without being harassed and treated like street scum. When I realized bitchy lady was gonna make a commission off anything I bought, I split. I'll buy from Garrett Leight, or maybe go back and look up the names of my favorites to buy online, but nobody that flabbergastingly rude should be let near customers let alone profit from our sales. I really hope a manager reads this (and that horrible lady isn't the manager) and can have a chat with her. What is with all the bullies in retail these days?? :( read more

Very disappointed with Oliver Peoples. I've been shopping with LensCrafters since I was 16 and regret making the change. I expected premium lenses and frames from this establishment. I had to return my anti-reflective lenses at least 5 times because they could not get rid of the yellow tint from them. They have not perfected the anti-reflective technology like LensCrafters. Higher prices don't always equal better quality. read more

While the frames are attractive, they are not of particularly high quality. Mine warped after 7 months for no apparent reason. At that point, I learned that the supposed 2 year frame warranty does not exist. Warranty service goes through Luxottica, which will tell you that OP frames are not in their "warranty stock" and they can only give you a credit at LensCrafters for frames "up to $400." LensCrafters best frames are in the $270 range, so the amount is meaningless. And don't ask about the expenses lenses from Varilux that are now useless without a replacement for the original $370 dollar frame! BUYER BEWARE read more

I came to Oliver Peoples last week to get the frames adjusted on a pair of sunglasses I did not buy there. The salesman was very accommodating and worked on my sunglasses for five or 10 minutes and finally got them absolutely perfect. No charge. Excellent customer service. Oliver Peoples will be around a long time. By the way, their glasses are absolutely beautiful. I'm going to bring my girlfriend in to try some on. read more

0 stars if I could. Unreliable sales associates. I feel robbed. I made two glasses purchases within the past two months as a gift for someone. I let them choose one and planned to return the other. I cleared it with the sales associate who was assisting me that I would be able to return the extra pair with no issue. It was not until I came back that I learned that the return is for merchandise credit only. This is not what was clearly relayed to me by the OP staff. Getting in touch with OP customer care has been difficult. No one is available to discuss this issue with me and provide me other methods of remediation. I now have a large hefty merchandise credit to OP that frankly, I never want to use again just to avoid this store. read more

This review is for the impeccable service from the wonderful and personable Colleen. I accidentally sat on a pair of Oliver People's glasses and broke one of the legs. Before continuing with my story, please heed this piece of advice and listen to that little, tiny, soft almost imperceptible voice that lies maybe in a little toe and gentle says, " Move your glasses before sitting on the sofa." Well, I didn't listen and thus the reason for this review. Colleen went on a hunt and found a pair of glasses identical to mine in the Las Vegas store. I just had to pay 50% of the original price for the frames. Colleen sent the broken glasses to Las Vegas and a few days later I picked them up with the old lens in my new frames....Perfect. I have a super cool pair of Oliver Peoples glasses that I unfortunately got broken. I love the color and the lightweight yet substantial feel. I was super bummed when they broke. I contacted the store and spoke with Jose Gutierrez, the very friendly and professional Store Manager who suggested I send him pictures of my glasses which I promptly did. He got back to me right away and suggested I send my glasses in to see if they could fix them. I was sent a fedex pack with a prepaid label with packing materials to make sure my glasses weren't further damaged in shipping. As soon as my glasses were received Jose contacted me and said that since they couldn't fix my glasses they would replace the frames under the warranty. The lenses were swapped out into the new frames and quickly sent to me. I'm extremely pleased with the great customer service and I'm very happy to have my beautiful glasses back in play. I'll definitely buy a pair of Oliver Peoples frames the next time I'm in the market for another pair. read more

Love coming to this location because of how helpful Dexter is. He's always patient, and is very knowledgeable about the different styles and colors each frame comes in. I came in the first time to be fitted for readers and he found me the perfect ones. He helped me again recently find a pair of sunglasses, and suggested a color frame i wasn't even thinking about that I love! And he fitted them perfectly! I somehow lost one of the nose pads on my Strummer. So I walked over to the store to see if I can buy a set of pads. The gentlemen at the desk, without hesitation, took my sunglasses to the back to find the appropriate pad. He came back out to double check with another associate to make sure he was putting on the correct nose pad for the glasses. After another minute in the back, he gave me my glasses back with the replacement nose pad on and my glasses cleaned at no charge. This is one of the reasons I purchase Oliver Peoples and Paul Smith Spectacles. The customer service is on point. read more

Jeff was very attentive and considerate of my time while he also assisted two other customers. WOW! What service! After losing the nose pads from my favorite pair of aviators I tried to find a local dealer to replace them. I tried a couple of places and they did not have the nose pads in stock. :( I made a phone call to Oliver Peoples in the city and they let me send them a picture of my sunglasses (the model style had rubbed off - hey I told you they were my favorite pair, I wear them a lot!). Good news they had the nose pads in stock and put them in the mail for me right away, saving me the hassle to drive all the way out there, I live in the east bay, and saving me the shipping costs from ordering off the website! Beware the supposed 2 year warranty on their frames. My pair (fitted with expensive Varilux lenses) warped within 6 months. The warranty process is via Luxottica, wherein you submit a claim form with photos online. The frame defect was verified by Luxottica to be "under warranty." However, I was informed that my frame was not in "warranty stock", nor can Luxottica offer a credit for Oliver Peoples frames! (My frame is still in stock at OP stores, which are owned by Luxottica.) I was offered a credit for in-stock frames at Lenscrafters (also owned by Luxottica), which is of little use to me given that I cannot transfer my expensive new lenses to a different frame. In other words, the OP "2 year warranty" is actually NOT FOR THE FRAMES YOU PURCHASED. Terrible company. Recently saw that the Better Business Bureau grade is for a well-deserved F. read more

I visited this shop yesterday to fix my sunglasses. The flame was broken and I lost the screws. Actually it was bought in Asia so I have worried if it can be fixed here. Take it from a Bay Area tourist, Oliver Peoples SF was a truly lucky find. My husband and I were wandering Grant Avenue when I spied the sign. I had been looking for a particular Oliver Peoples frame and was unable to locate it in our home territory of Scottsdale/Phoenix. Kisukari, the delightful staff member who helped me was professional, warm, friendly and very knowledgable. Better yet, she had a delightful sense of humor, laughed at my jokes and even sounded like she meant it - now that's a rare occurrence in retail land! I was hunting for round, retro frames and found the perfect pair. Fortunately, I had my latest vision prescription on my iPhone, so decided to take a leap and have the glasses made to order, then shipped to Arizona. Risky, of course, but Kisukari assured me they would pay close attention to quality and indeed they did. When the glasses came in just a week later, she was not completely satisfied with one of the lenses, so called and explained they were returning the glasses to the lab and would rush order the correction. A mere three days later the glasses arrived at my doorstep in Arizona and I love them! Plus, I can see, which is of course secondary to looking good, but what a bonus! I plan to continue doing business with Kisukari and recommend this Peoples location with no hesitation... no matter where you live. This actually happened a bit ago. Went in to browse around and all of the sudden another customer rudely exclaimed, "is she going to shop here? If she is I'm not going to" or something along those lines (all because I was sneezing across the room). I was obviously shocked to hear that. While we were leaving to accommodate that customer, a SA came out but instead of apologizing or acknowledging the situation, they give us a business card. The best customer service I have ever had!! Everyone was super helpful and let me and my wife try on any frames we liked brought out other colors and found even better ones for us. We actually came here about a month before and when we arrived the store manager (I believe he is) remembered us! How awesome is that! Made us feel so welcomed and cared for as a customer! Dee at Oliver peoples took great care of me and my O'mally eyeglasses. After a few years of use, the frames had become oxidized and hazy. I was already aware of the refurbishment program, but was pleasantly surprised when Dee comped this service for me. The glasses were sent away and were returned in about a week, having been buffed as well as tightened with new screws. Dee warned me that the buffing process did not always work as well as expected and offered to have the glasses "matted" if i was not happy with the results of the original refurbishment. The glasses came back greatly improved, but obviously not perfect. I'll have to decide in the coming months if i want to have these frames redone for a small fee or purchase an entirely new pair!
