Firstly, there is parking, just be mindful and respectful to those spots that are reserved for other businesses. Once inside you're greeted by the friendly staff. The menu consists of Mexican favourites as well classic north Canadian eats. Do check out their daily specials too while you're there. There is quite a number of tables so if you have a large group I'm sure they can accommodate. We ended up ordering asada quesadilla, comes with pico de gallo, sour cream and a spicy salsa $20. Iced cafe mocha $6 Iced Spanish latte $6 Coffee was fantastic and the quesadilla was good. I saw some people order the breakfast which looked fantastic! That will definitely be my next order! Secret hidden Mexican style restaurant and cafe by Boundary and Marine. It's seriously hidden. Drove past it a few times looking for it. Only indicator was a sandwich board by the road. Parking is available in front. It is inside a business park after all. Ambience is pretty nice. Thanks to the open garage door and the outdoor theme, it really does feel like one is in some outdoor garden by the coast. Staff were friendly and helpful. As of the time of writing, there is a daily special for each weekday. I had their fish burrito bowl. A bit small, but can't complain for the price. Grilled fish was nice and fresh. My Mexican coworker introduced this cafe, especially about Birria dish. In Mexico, they use goat meat but here beef. As I prefer beef, it was ok for me. The meat was tender and juicy. It's stewed beef like barbaccoa but I felt more complicated or more flavor in it. Especially smokey flavour. The dipping sauce came along and it was fatty. Normally I don't use much hot sauce but finished everything even lime. Birria taco is slightly expensive than others but as it comes with the dipping sauce, it makes sense. The chicken was moist and all the toppings were really fresh. The carnitas was just okay. The meat had a good char but it was quite dry. Found my way to this cozy little cafe deep in the south Burnaby industrial area. We passed by it a couple times until we noticed a sidewalk flag banner. Then we had trouble finding the entrance door as it shares an entrance with another business, see the picture. It's a cafeteria styled setup where u order and pay upfront at the till and sit at a table to eat. There was self serve room temp water at the counter, if needed. The menu is varied with a mix of Mexican, traditional breakfast/sandwiches, artisan espresso beverages and Italian pastas. We ordered the chorizo penne, creamy bacon spaghetti, birria and carnitas tacos. Pastas were both delicious with generous portions. Birria taco was delicious as well and came with its own rich broth dipping sauce. The carnitas taco was soooo bad. Very dry in a get-stuck-in-your-throat kind of way with gamey tasting meat-not recommended. The pasta dishes came with garlic bread. Went there one weekend for brunch and my friends and I ordered a bunch of items - 4 chicken tacos, birrah tacos, birrah eggs Benedict, churro croffle, and chilaquilles to share. First off, the birrah meat is AMAZING and is great on the eggs Benedict as well as a taco - highly recommend! The chicken tacos were decent and are a pretty good deal on their daily taco deal where you can get 4 for $12. Croffle was pretty good and they make it fresh on the spot. I was pretty excited to try the chilaquilles and was a bit disappointed. First, the tortilla chips got soggy really quickly with the fried egg and sour cream over it. It was too bad, otherwise would have been a good dish that I would order again. The service here is really friendly and you are greeted with warmth when ordering. It feels like a pure neighbourhood cozy cafe that serves a large variety of drinks and food items. Hidden within the industrial area along North Fraser Way, you may miss the entrance to the parking lot. There is a tall pole with a bunch of flags with their name but by the time you see it, you will have passed the entrance as the letters aren't that big. We got the four 4" tacos (beef, pork, chicken and fish), the special Baja fish taco and the burrito bowl. We like the burrito bowl and the fish taco the most. The bowl has lots of beef, rice, beans and sauce which was good. Make sure to mix it so you don't just scoop beans and beef. The fish taco was crispy and fried just right on the outside and the fish was still moist on inside. The other meat was good too but just a little dry which I can understand as they are slow cooked and pork/beef can be stringy. Clean modern cafe in the middle of nowhere, well in this industrial business park. They took over Spoons Cafe and Grill and updated the place to this decade. There are 3-4 parking spots right in front reserved for customers or street parking. The other parking spots outside the building are usually full. They seemed to specialize in tacos! I will have to try that. I had the carnitas eggs Benedict and it was delicious. A bit too oily but yummy. The hash was perfectly crispy on the edges and fluffy soft within. This was not oily at all. The eggs were poached with runny yolks. The pork was flavorful. Only the muffin base was too soft and oily and did not hold the items well. There is a current promo of buy a sandwich or pastry and get the drip coffee free. I bought the chocolate salted cookie and coffee. The coffee with just cream in it was surprisingly good. Smooth and light bodied, with no acidic aftertaste. You can also buy candles and mugs and coffee beans and teas. They used to open till 8 pm but the hours are now reduced to 3 pm or so. Closed on Sunday. I guess they realize the location caters mainly to the office workers in the area. A pity as they do have good food and will be great to do pick up for dinner. The tacos are pretty small in size, pretty much bite size. I can barely taste the meat inside, either they are not well seasoned or very small amount. The birriramen was okay, just taste as it sounds with the ramen added into the birria soup. I think the soup lacks some spices. It needs a bit more heat in the broth too. Super lovely cafe in Burnaby! Had a nice lunch with a few girlfriends last weekend here. The cafe itself is super cute and cozy. A girlfriend and I ordered the Carnitas Eggs Benedict and Birria Beef Eggs Benedict, and swapped one half each so we could try them both. Both were delicious! My other two girlfriends ordered the Burrito Bowl and Birriaramen. For my drink, I ordered the Blue Lavender Latte. The burrito and tacos came with a green salsa which was tasty and not spicy. The tacos were good. Simple, yet flavourful. But the best item was the croffle! Essentially a croissant in waffle form. I feel really sorry that I have to give off does negative review to a place that I used to rave about. A Total disappointment the last few times we went. The quality of food and service keeps declining! Last couple times we waited a long time and food was cold when arrived & the veggies were brown. We didn't make an issue of it tho. First of all, I asked if they have just a salad coz I didn't see it on the menu nor their quick takeout sandwich fridge. The girl pointed to the menu and said they have "bowls" then looked away. Didn't seem like she was interested to help although there were only a couple tables of customers so not busy at all. So I just ordered a drink and my friends ordered some food and drinks. Let's just focus on the beverage. We ordered an Americano, iced mocha, and iced London fog. The iced mocha was way too sweet that we had to add cold water to dilute. The London fog was odd (just milk but no taste of tea), so my friend took a sip to verify that it's not my tastebuds acting up. We noticed a cup of steeped tea on the side. After a while of trying to figure out I took it to the server to inquire if i was supposed to mix the cream/milk with that side hot tea, she said the tea was given to me by mistake but it's ok we can keep it. Then, she started telling me what a London fog is. I said London Fog is my regular drink anywhere but it's my first time ordering here. She said that I'm supposed to stir the tea bag inside to get a taste of tea. I asked: so you cafe brew your tea in cold milk? Both servers said yes. So I went back to my seat and did whatever I could. Later, one of them offered to make me a new one but said she's taking back the steeped tea she gave me by mistake coz I didn't order it. I said ok because I wasn't plan on drinking it anyway. The new cup of iced London fog tasted worse then the 1st one! This time it tasted like the 1st cup just with more water added to it. I had to take it back to the server again. She said: "what do you want me to do then?" I asked what's a safe drink to order. They said "Just coffee!". I said: "I don't drink just coffee, is it safe to get a caramel macchiato?". The girl shrugged. I decided to take a chance to order that because when she said "what do you want me to do" didn't indicate to me she was gonna give me a refund. The caramel macchiato was too sweet but acceptable. However I was shocked at the extensive drinks menu and being a cafe this kind of quality and service. * I'd also like to mention that the plastic straws that they using are very brittle. My first sip sprayed all over myself because the straw split. The same thing happened to my friend who had to exchange 2x. We told the server about it, and were told to just grab a new one from the pile. They're not individually wrapped, and very unsanitary because everyone just pick a straw from that pile with their bare hands, we did that too! So that's when we realized what everyone had to do! Tried their carnitas eggs Benedict and their braised beef Benedict as well, both meats are so good but I like the braised beef more as it has been slow cooked. The egg is wonderfully runny and super soft and the hash browns is real potato that is quite soft. We also got tacos which were tiny cute, a fish and pork one, they give a little green sauce for the tacos to give it a bit of a kick. The drink I got was a rose london fog. I did taste that floral sweet scent. However there were tea bits at the bottom which was hard to drink near the end. My first time trying the Birria ramen and on Fridays it's only $10! Unfortunately, I can't make it out to their restaurant during their open hours on weekdays so I ordered the ramen via UberEats. My hubby got the burrito. I was quite disappointed in food. The flavour was very one dimensional. There was no depth/umph. The impression I got from the ramen was instant noodles and birria (pulled beef and consumé) put together. What I was expecting was a burst of flavour from the pulled beef, some form or taste of spicy (salsa) and some sourness of lime juice like i was eating a quesabirria but in ramen form. So while the idea of taking a hype dish to a new level, I think this ramen needs some improvement. The burrito was a sad. It too also lacked flavour and the mexican food finesse. Came here cuz of a post on tik tok by food so bomb showed awesome birra tacos I've been itching to eat birra tacos since discovering them while eating at mi casa mexicana in Vancouver while waiting for my car to be serviced Place was really out of the way in an industrial park Orders the birra tacos but was told they were small. I didn't order cheese but compared to the birra quesadilla in Vancouver it was night and day. Not worth a detour out here read more
