Came here on a Friday night with reservations to dine about 7 pm. Upon entering, I could already tell this place had great neutral decorations that felt very high-end. We were seated pretty quickly and our waiter provided water and bread with olive oil for the table. We ordered our drinks, I had a Miss Behavin, it was a good drink. For appetizer, we had pita bread with three different type of humus. I ordered a seafood paella and my friend got paella with seafood and chicken. I wish they would have told us how big the paellas were so we could have shared one instead of purchasing two. The paella was ok, Service was good. Parking available in lot.

Excellent service in this bright, new. Welcoming restaurant. We were HUGE fans of the now closed Dom Pepe ll so we're excited to try this. We understand the new owners bought both Dom Pepe Steakhouse (this location) and Dom Pepe ll around the corner. Olivo has Mediterranean fare similar to the old Dom Pepe ll. The food was good but not great. We preferred Dom Pepe ll. The service was excellent- the best. Balanced out I gave 4 stars overall. The lobster in both mariscata and paella was tough. Shrimp were smaller than jumbo shrimp we are accustomed to. Veal francais was tender, but kind of boring. The white sangria was orange (not white) and very strong didn't taste like sangria at all. All in all good, but 3 people for lunch was $132 before tip I want than just good!

Celebrated my dad's birthday here with a group of 6 on a weekday. Parking on site; when you enter you really feel like you have stepped into vacation mode and out of NJ which is wonderful. Staff is friendly and space is pretty open with great lighting and tons of seating options for groups large and small. We ordered a bunch of apps and the paella along with the sangria which was YUM! Ok now doe the breakdown Chorizo (5/5) really solid option and the table enjoyed it Lamb chips (5/5) super juicy and tender really flavorful and a great option Broccoli Rabe (1/5) really bland kind of a fail for me sadly Paella (3/5) it is definitely more of a 2 person sharing option if you were only eating this. We had a number of apps and sides so it fed our table well. On its own it was fine but not spectacular in terms of flavor and rice was cooked fine. No major issues just not wow for me personally. Sangria (5/5) really great refreshing and I would recommend the pitcher! Dessert we got the crème brulle which was yum and we also ordered the baklava with iced cream which was delish! Menu is substantial but not overwhelming, value is there and pricing is respectable without breaking the bank. I would come back with an eye towards drinks and apps :)

Outstanding! This newly renovated restaurant which is now the new home to the old and closed Don Pepe ( new name ) is amazing. The restaurants atmosphere is bright and airy. Very comfortable. The bar/lounge area is also large, fresh and inviting. The 2 1/2 lb steamed lobsters were cooked to perfection. Soft, juicy and tender. Very fresh. The bone in rib eye was perfectly cooked to medium rare. Soft and very tender. Side dishes of fresh cut potato chips and mixed vegetables topped it off. A very nice complimentary portion of fried zucchini slices with Parmesan cheese started us off. The mature d and service staff were not only professional but polite, attentive, engaging and very sincere. Excellent service. Plenty of easy parking with valet parking on the weekends.

Third visit in 45 days - definitely our new favorite! Celine at the front is always friendly and the staff is attentive. We had 2 separate, unrelated reservations that she was able to combine into one on a Saturday night - impressive. My wife swore she was going to try something different but ended up with the Shrimp in green sauce she's ordered every time - loved it so much. I tried the scallops and they did not disappoint - nice sear on outside, tender on the inside. Interesting choice to pair with mashed potatoes - I would have liked more flavor in the potatoes. The grilled octopus is my new favorite appetizer. The Mariscada is probably the best overall dish on the menu - IMO. The outside seating is finally open - we were inside in the dining room to the left near the bar as this has the biggest table. Love the modern, light decor. My only negative is still the same - it's loud.

We only did the takeout here so far but the paella is out of the world. They packed in so nicely for us and it can easily serve 4 people. Maybe they use red palm oil? Either way, I am sold! It is hard to find solid Mediterranean options sometimes. The price is reasonable. The interior looks fancy so it could make for a nice sit down dinner too.

Came here for a guy's night and this place did not disappoint! It's a Mediterranean restaurant so there was a wide range of different flavors and many aged meats. Decent beer selection and it had been a while since I had Mythos (Greek beer) so I had to order that and it brought back many memories. Bread and olive oil was brought to our table to start things off. We decided to share a bunch of tapas for appetizers and went with the thick cut bacon, ham croquettes, grilled squid, shrimp in garlic sauce, and the chorizo. Everything was amazing so we couldn't wait to get our mains. Since we were a party of 5, we split a Rib eye steak and a paella valenciana. Super tasty and flavorful. The desserts were fantastic as well. We ordered a wide assortment but our favorite was the Basque burnt cheesecake.

Starting with the good: the restaurant is stunning, and the service is warm, they make you feel like a vip! But...in a place where the Iberian may be the best in the US I expected more. Don Pepe has a legacy in NJ of authentic delicious Iberian cuisine and to me this fell short. The pulpo a la gallega, a standard Spanish dish was not crispy at all :-( the pan con tomate another favorite had good flavor but was not toasted. Thankfully the paella was better with all the flavors you would expect. I hope that it was just because they just opened and will improve!

On Thursday, my boyfriend and I decided to visit the location that was formally known as Don Pepe Steak House. The location is under new ownership and is now called Olivo. I remember clearly what it used to look like inside since I had been there a few times. Now all I can say is wow! What was once a caterpillar has blossomed into a gorgeous butterfly! The new owners have totally transformed this location into the most amazing restaurant. From start to finish, my boyfriend and I had an incredible evening. The ambience is spectacular! We arrived for dinner and it was still daylight outside. There are now huge windows in the whole restaurant enabling natural lighting inside. In addition, there is also a skylight in one of the dining rooms. Under it sits and olive tree. It really is a beautiful centerpiece when you walk in and see that. We ate in that dining area, which was right behind the bar. Our server, Miguel was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu and the wines. He suggested wines according to my likes and went over the menu and gave us his recommendations. We decided to try a bunch of appetizers even though I originally went in to try the bacon steak. There were so many apps it was so hard to pick just one. All of the appetizers had were excellent! The bacon steak did not disappoint! The Greek salad was very refreshing. For our main entrees we decided to go with fish and steak. Might as well have the the best of both worlds! LOL! The baked Branzino was very fresh and had a light taste, not fishy at all. The dry aged Porterhouse was huge and they sliced it for us before it came out. I had the filet side and it was super tender and juicy. For sides we had Spanish potatoes, saffron rice and mixed veggies. We had so much food left over! Of course my kids devoured it when we got home. I'm not sure how I had any room left for dessert but as stuffed as I was I just had to try the Burnt Basque Cheesecake which Miguel highly recommended. He was not kidding when he said it was so creamy and unlike any other cheesecake around. When you go to Olivo, please do yourself a favor and have this cheesecake for dessert. You will be hooked. You can thank me later. My compliments to the chef for preparing our excellent meal! The service was as spectacular as the food. Miguel was da bomb and Eduardo, the manager visited with us several times throughout the evening. He made us feel so welcome and at home. He was very gracious and thankful that we chose to dine there. He invited us back and back we will go. My mom is turning 81 and I already reserved a table for a small group of us to celebrate with her. It's a surprise! Shhh... don't tell her! I highly recommend a visit and make a reservation. By the looks of it, Olivo has it all and they will be doing very well.

Olivo Mediterranean Fare in Pine Brook, NJ, is a fresh and exciting addition to the dining scene, bringing a perfect blend of Mediterranean flavors with a Spanish flair. From the moment we walked in, the warm ambiance and attentive service, led by our fantastic server Tony, set the stage for a memorable meal. Every dish we tried during the soft opening was outstanding. The octopus--a notoriously difficult dish to perfect... was incredibly tender with a beautiful char, ranking among the best we've ever had. The tapas kept exceeding expectations, each one better than the last. By the time the entrées arrived, we wondered if the meal could get any better... and it did. With valet parking available and a menu this strong, we predict Olivo will quickly become a hot spot. Make reservations early because this place is bound to be packed. Huge thumbs up from our group, and we wish the team the best of luck with this new venture. As always, support local businesses, you won't regret giving Olivo a try! @vinopotato

I love that it's family-owned and all of the ingredients are locally sourced from NJ. There are so many different cocktail options, and some of them were so creative in their presentation. Since I was having a difficult time deciding, I went with the Espresso Martini flight. It came with a Traditional, Pistachio, and Jelly Ring martini. I also ordered a cookie butter martini. First, being charged the full $80 price for a guest who did not attend was extremely shocking and disappointing. More concerning, however, was the manner in which Tom approached and addressed us. In all my years of dining out, I have never experienced such poor service or such an inappropriate attitude from restaurant staff. One of those nights my order was delayed and a couple of sides were missing, but they were extremely apologetic and even offered us a discount, which I really appreciated. I honestly can't remember the names of the cocktails we ordered, but they were seasonal, delicious, and beautifully presented. The bread wasn't my favorite, but I'm not taking off any points for that. It's free, and honestly, I'd rather not fill up on bread before the meal anyway. For appetizers, we ordered the cast iron shrimp and the slab bacon. The shrimp was so good. My husband thought it was a little salty, but I thought it was just really well seasoned. I'd honestly go back just for that dish. The bacon was good, but it wasn't as hot as I would have liked. I personally like my food piping hot, so that's just a preference. The star of the night was the Cowboy Prime steak. It was absolutely delicious, great seasoning, a perfect sear, and full of flavor. The temperature wasn't exactly what we ordered, but it was still an incredible steak. It came with vegetables, and even as someone who isn't a big fan of veggies, I really enjoyed them!! For sides, we had the hand-cut fries and a side of the corn risotto. If we had one complaint about the meal, it would be the risotto. It was overcooked and tasted like a basic risotto with corn kernels mixed in. It just wasn't what we expected. Thankfully, the steak was so good that it completely made up for that disappointment. We skipped dessert because we were both completely full, but we'll definitely be back. I also wanted to mention that the service was a little slow at the beginning. Once our server got to us, though, she was friendly, attentive, and took great care of us. Overall, we had a great experience and look forward to coming back.

When we arrived (around 7pm) there was only one occupied table in the restaurant. The room was cold and drafty, as if they were trying to save money on the heating. We had to change tables twice trying to avoid the chill which was forcing my mother to keep her winter coat on. On our first visit, the breadbasket included some delicious garlic bread. That was gone this time. Previously, the staff immediately set out an ice bucket and glasses when they saw our bottle of white wine. This time we had to ask for both, twice. Throughout the meal, we watched our waiter standing in the doorway to the kitchen engrossed in whatever he was doing with his cell phone. Given that the restaurant was virtually empty, the fact that we couldn't get his attention when we started to have issues was frustrating. I chose the Calamari Chino again as an appetizer. I enjoyed it so much on our first visit that it was the one thing I knew I wanted again. Unfortunately, I ended up sending it back. Although it looked like the same dish at first glance, the crispy and tender calamari I loved the first time was now soggy and rubbery. My mother again went with the Grilled Norwegian Salmon, which she enjoyed. My father had the Paccheri & Shrimp alla Vodka, which is described on the menu as sautéed wild shrimp, over paccheri pasta with a creamy vodka sauce, oyster mushrooms, & green peas. He wasn't a fan of this. It seemed to be missing both the oyster mushrooms, & the green peas. He also described it as being "goopy" and thought it tasted artificially thickened in some way. I ordered the New Coconut Jumbo Shrimp, which is served with grilled asparagus, white rice, in an orange marmalade sauce. I had high hopes for this since coconut shrimp is a favorite of mine. The presentation was quite nice, but the shrimp was overcooked, and the coconut coating was nearly burnt. I believe it had been left in the deep fryer too long. Frankly, if I had not sent back the calamari I would have sent this back as well. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant still looks nice, but it seems like they're just going through the motions now. I don't see us returning.

It's pricey, but the food was delicious and fresh. We decided to come back for Valentine's Day. The restaurant has 2 floors. For V-Day we were seated upstairs. I'm going to guess there 15-20 tables upstairs? ONE WAITER and ONE busboy. They were working their butts off, but really??? We waited so long that I finally flagged the busboy down to get water nevermind get our order taken or even get bread. I won't drone on about the wait but suffice it to say our food was not hot when we finally got it and we skipped dessert because we did not want to be there another hour. We will probably return but definitely not on a holiday!

The service is friendly... most of the time! Alex, the owner, is always welcoming and truly cares about her customers. If you're looking for the best place to watch a big sporting event, Sidelines is it. The atmosphere for the USA World Cup win was incredible--a packed house, a DJ, and an electric crowd you just won't find at most bars. Get there Monday for USA vs. Belgium!

They also have a ton of Christmas decorations up right now, which made the atmosphere feel extra festive and nice. The service was excellent; the staff was amazing, incredibly nice, and very helpful throughout my visit. I came in on a Sunday and it was perfect because they had all the TVs showing the football games. For food, I tried the fries (which were voted #1) and they did not disappoint! They came loaded with jalapeños, onions, cheese, and their special Sideline sauce. It was very tasty--honestly the best "Sunday guilt meal" I've had in a while. Between the food, the football, and the games (they have pool, darts, and a music machine), it's just a great place to hang out. Highly recommend!

As soon as I saw that reservations were live, I immediately made mine! I had a Thursday dinner reservation that I eventually needed to cancel and remake for a lunch reservation. Didn't love that I had to go for lunch but oh well. Our reservation was for Noon which meant that they were just opening up for the day and boy were they busy! There were a ton of people coming in for lunch. Getting situated and to our table took a few because of the overwhelming amount of reservations. I booked our table in the Lounge area rather than the dining room and glad I did as it seems to be more festive! Food-wise we ate the Pollo Parm Pizza and the Hot Calamari. Both were good but nothing spectacular. We ordered festive drinks which were $18 each -- a little high but I get it. We skipped on dessert and got dessert drinks instead - I had the Tiramisu Martini which was delightful!

It's a very casual, cafeteria-style spot with a semi-open kitchen, but don't let the simplicity fool you -- the food is incredible and the staff here is friendly and patient. The highlight of the experience is the small buffet that features a variety of freshly-made Latin cuisine -- including pulled pork, chicken and beef stews, and other traditional Latin entrees and sides. You can build your own plate by selecting one or more entrees and sides - which are priced accordingly. As a 'gringo' who wasn't entirely sure what everything was, I really appreciated them taking the extra time to explain all the different options and give me their honest recommendations. The counterstaff is bilingual and were pretty patient with my elementary school level Spanish vocabulary and grammar. I ended up going with the pulled pork platter with two sides ($7) and it was terrific -- the perfectly seasoned and tender pork, black beans and rice, and macaroni salad were delicious and very filling. You can tell they use fresh ingredients, and the portions are very generous for the price. If you're looking for authentic, home-style Latino food in a laid-back setting, this is the spot! PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home to enjoy with your meal. Sazon Latino is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: Sazon Latino offers free off-street parking in a small lot behind the restaurant and there's plenty of free on-street parking on Main Street.
