Your girl loves a good indie bookstore, so I wandered in and kept wandering throughout. It is PERFECT in the sense that it is IMPERFECT. Forget your big box bookstores or *shudder* Amazon *aka he who shall not be named*, this bookstore has charm, staff recommendations, and it's likely you'll walk out with a book you never would've bought if it weren't for this special space. The have a section by the register for local Charleston authors and books, as well as sections for every topic you can imagine. I also loved browsing their rare/signed books. My favorite part was walking from one room to another, by way of hallways lined with bookshelves. I honestly could've spent hours here browsing! But, alas, I had places to be. I grabbed a copy of a book I'd been wanting for a while and was happy to see a reasonable price on the inside cover (in pencil). I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town! What a TREASURE.

It also features a really cool kitty who has the run of the place, but is mostly out of sight when we've stopped in. Reasonably priced books and rarities available if you're willing to look as well as local nature guides and books about history of the local area and written by local authors. Great books, artwork, souvenirs and other nice offerings and a place we love to visit. Excellent service and great value on some excellent books. With all of the race issues going on in the US right now, I couldn't sit around and do nothing so I vowed to further educate myself and become a better ally. Instead of purchasing new books off of Amazon or used ones off eBay, I knew I wanted to shop locally and definitely support more Black-owned businesses. As I read their website, I found out that they were the ONLY African-American, female-owned bookstore in South Carolina which I think is so cool! I browsed their selection (which is huge!!) and purchased 2 books: White Rage by Carol Anderson and Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. These books were great reads, but Between the World and Me was especially moving for me and maybe one of my favorite books on racism/racial injustice that I've read overall. After ordering, I was kept up to date through emails and my packages arrived quickly and with no problems at all. I have recommended Turning Page to my all of friends and I will be purchasing from them again next time I need a new read. 10/10!

Came back in a few weeks later and saw the same books I brought in for sale at $15 & $20 price marks. I understand that they buy for less than they sell, But less than a dollar for each book and then more than tripling that price is a giant rip off on their part.
