Came here to get a stone on my engagement ring tightened. Dropped it off on a Saturday, they called and let me know it was ready on Wednesday. A single stone was tightened and they cleaned the ring for me. Cost was $55.00. I didn't call around as I should have, I've been told that is a little steep. "Beware of Dog" sign in the window. But I didn't see a dog. The lady at the front desk was polite, in and out during drop off and pick up of the ring. read more

They closed on me!!!! I got there at 5:54pm when they close at 6pm. They had already closed the door and the woman inside saw me knocking and turned around and went to their back area. I knocked and knocked and no answer. I can't believe it! All i wanted to do was pick up my item that was ready. Poor customer service... I have known Frank and his wife for over 17 years and they have a kindhearted family business that his father started the 1950s. They have always had great prices much lower than anywhere else (I've tried many others) fast professional jewelry and watch repair. I'm a klutz and Frank keeps fixing my watches! Ask about their amazing custom made Italian jewelry. Do you want your wedding ring fixed quickly and right the first time? Or do you want your diamond to possibly fall out or be damaged? I will not do business with Olney Jewelers due to the horrible experience with the owner. He is not an honest guy and he is not easy to work with due to his unprofessional, unfair "my way or the highway attitude". If you want to know the whole story read on however I want to make sure that I warn anyone who doesn't already know about this establishment and the trap they have set for any unsuspecting client that walks in to purchase Jewelry.Here are the details: I wanted to purchase my Wife a ring for our 11th Anniversary and I wanted to support a local store, even if I had to pay a bit more. I went to Olney Jewelers, found a standard ring from the showroom that I thought my Wife would like and paid for it. My wife opens it and is happy however it doesn't wrap around the wedding ring like she needed it to. No problem I told her, lets go back and look for one that does so we can make an exchange. We returned to Olney Jeweler 8 days after I bought the ring to try to find something different that jived with what my wife needed. The owner told us that they didn't have the style and we couldn't order one, we would need to have it made custom through his goldsmith and it would cost a couple hundred more than the $800 I had just spent. My Wife didn't want to go down that route so I asked him if it would be cheaper to have less diamonds on it. He said it might be a little less but most of the money is in the gold. I asked him to weigh the ring so that I can get an idea how much gold it contains. 2.5 grams was the weight, Sears was selling a 4.5 gram ring with low quality diamonds (twice as much 14k white gold) for $600, he was lying to me to try to up-sell to a custom ring with less gold. After I pointed out the dependency of his BS he instantly became defensive. He then resorted to telling me that the diamonds were now the most valuable part of the ring after saying they weren't 2 minutes before. He was blowing smoke and I didn't like the road things were going. I told him we will need to return it due to them not being able to meet our needs. He told me it would be 10% to return, I agreed only because I knew the CC company charges them fees too. He F-bombed loud at the CC machine I proceeded to ask him if he was deducting the tax and he told me to be quiet if I want a refund because he was impatient with the machine that seemed to be over his head. Well he finally charges me $85 on a $750 ring. It wasn't 10% it wasn't what we agreed on. I asked him nicely if he could redo it to $75 not $85. He started to talk aggressively saying that he was nice enough to not charge me 25% as stated in fine print on the receipt. I signed the receipt and walked out and didn't look back. Folks I tried to work with him and I tried to find another ring but it wasn't in his best interest to find me a ring that made both parties happy. He wanted to make it difficult for us to find what we were looking for so he could make $85 on a ring that he stuck back on the shelf for another buyer. BUYER BEWARE! read more

I had what I thought was a hard repair. The gentlemen not only fixed my jewelry quickly it was also a great price. I didn't have any cash and they don't take credit cards under $20.00 and the man told me I could come back on my honor!!! Don't know how this place has stayed in business in Olney for so long. They have very poor customer service. Virtually any repair needs to be sent out or otherwise can't have it done right away...that includes replacing a simple watch battery. I took my watch in, was told that it would be ready either in the evening or the next day. I dropped it off in the am, and it was ready later that same evening. When I arrived I remembered that I needed one link to be removed from the band. The lady behind the counter said she could do it and took it in the back room. 30 seconds later it was done. The bill came...$35 for the battery and $15 for the link removal! Look, everyone has the right to make a living, but $35 to replace a battery that I could not even get done right away? $15 for a 30 sec link removal....Good will (and common sense) would have dictated a gratis on the link removal. Next time I will go to the mall. Convenience of this decrepit old and tired store is not worth getting ripped off over. read more

Brought my watch in for a possible movement replacement and was met by a woman who kindly listened to me and said the estimate would be ready the next day when her husband is in. I called the next day to find out the estimate would take multiple days on top of the original price range thrown out by the wife going up by 30$. I then questioned why the price is so high when I had found replacements for 10/20$...immediately I was told I did not know anything and if I was to follow through with my plan that my watch would not work. I no longer wanted them working on my watch after being so rude so I told him I would pick it up shortly and you know what I got in return. "BYE BYE" *hangs up phone. Not finished with this story at all... Went in to grab my watch and told him that our phone call was by far the least professional conversation iv ever been apart of. The owners response was " you think you know what your F'ing talking about but you don't, have a good day." I attempted to reply when I was met with " have a nice day little boy, have a nice day." So overall this store is a joke, just the idea of them not ripping people off creates an offensive frenzy which is not at all how a business should be run. Would not recommend this place to anyone and I'm assuming the owner was bullied in his youth and now has no regard for anything outside of his own little head. read more
