Have walked by this place several times. I recently had a necklace break and I decided to stop in to see if they could fix it. The woman who greeted me handed it to the jeweler on site and gave me a price of $80 to fix it. That seemed exorbitant and so I decided to shop around for the fix. I literally drove 2 miles and got the necklace fixed for $35. This small interaction is really all I need to know I won't be going back. I'm all for businesses making money but this is just gross. I had a custom pinky ring made by a jeweler in Washington state, however they sized it incorrectly and it was too big. I googled searched jeweler in Maryland and Kripps Jewelers popped up with 5 stars rating and 190 reviews so I decided to call. The woman who answered was extremely helpful. She informed me that I needed to come in just to ensure I was re-sizing it properly. I'm glad she told me this because I went in before Paul left for the day. I met with Sammy and he was extremely knowledgeable. He measured my ring and it was a lot larger than what the original jeweler told me it was. We worked with Paul to make sure I didn't size down too small. I appreciate how they both took the time to help me and get my ring perfect! It took less than 30 mins to resize my ring and polish it. I was in and out so fast, I was left in awe. I'm glad I found them so I wouldn't have to mail my ring back to Washington state and wait to receive it. I fell in love with the ring that was a little different than what I see in any other jewelry store and I kept going back three times to look at it because it was so unique. The gentleman was also talking to me about other services that they offered such as changing batteries or buying jewelry so I took in the watches to get the batteries, changed it and soldered a pendant loop closed for. Because I felt comfortable with him, I brought in a couple family heirloom pieces to get appraised. His cousin, I'm sorry I forgot his name, helped me figure out what to appraise and what not to appraise. They seemed honest and not pushy. At the end, I looked at some pieces they had for sale. They seem to have a lot of variety and have an in house jeweler to custom make items. I'm glad i stopped by and met them. As I was waiting and chatting, more family members were popping in. Kripps is a wonderful family owned jeweler that does all of their work in house which saves time and the hassle of waiting for shipments. Repairs tend to be on the pricey side, but is quality work and you don't want to skimp on your fine jewelry. The purchase selection is a little limited compared to other Jewelers, but I wouldn't take my peices anywhere else for service. I hear they do fabulous custom work as well. Plenty of parking out front although the lot is tight, and there is a Starbucks and delicious bakery a few doors down that you can visit while you wait. read more

We had the BEST experience with Vin and the Kripps team. I brought a family heirloom (bracelet) to convert/exchange into a custom engagement ring for my fiancé. Vin suggested a design that we loved using the diamonds from the old bracelet. We worked out the details of the ring design over a few iterations -- they had produced a CAD design that was exactly what we talked about the first time, we were just being picky and wanted to fine-tune it. Vin was very patient, communicative, and accommodating, both in person and over email. When we went to pick it up, we loved it at first sight. After a day wearing it, my fiancé realized she needed alteration for comfort, and they graciously made the change free of charge. The ring is stunning and it feels like both a part of my family and the beginning of a new one. Vin and the team were so warm, and made the whole process wonderful. He gave us a great price to buy the reminder of the bracelet, and the overall price of the ring was very affordable. The quality of the ring is truly exceptional. Amazing Service. I had several rings cleaned and repaired. My platinum engagement ring setting was severely bent and cracked, now the ring looks spectacular. My ring looks better than when I first received it!!! I also had a 6 year old platinum and ruby ring that was in need of TLC, It was literally brought back to life. Platinum can get really dull and gray looking, which is how my ring looked. It is now blindingly bright!!! The 18k and diamond ring I bought is over 29 years old, I had prongs repaired and a thorough cleaning. I can't stop staring at these rings, it is like I got all of them for the first time all over again. I loved that this was a family owned establishment. I worked primarily with Ali and his Uncle (The Patriarch, who opened the store over 30 years ago), they were both extremely knowledgeable and showed me some great items while I waited. I traded unwanted gold for two very nice bands with small diamonds inserted. The labor change for a fairly small change was rather high, but okay, it's a neighborhood place and the owner/manager is great. My partner's ring lost a diamond 2 months after our wedding, and we took the ring and stone back to have it repaired. We were charged a hefty labor fee, which was obviously not okay so soon after some very expensive labor to get the stones in. We like them a lot, so this was upsetting. Additionally, I went in to have my ring made smaller and was charged a hefty fee also, which I had not expected since they get to keep quite a bit of gold on a very thick ring. I spoke with the manager about the stone repair fee, and he was very responsive and issued a refund. He really does want to do the right thing. I am giving them 3 stars because their work is generally good, but I would caution all to get a clear statement on warranties before committing. read more

I first went to Kripps 10 years ago when I was looking to replace a lost stone from my wedding ring. I went to 3 different places as required by my insurance company and Kripps was by far the absolute best value and customer service.
