I booked Olowalu Plantation House in 2019 for my August wedding , I researched and looked at all the venue pictures online and on social media where the venue was tagged , all the pictures looked so beautiful . Fast forward to 2021 August wedding rehearsal (due to Covid), it is even more beautiful in person! The pictures do not do it justice !!! I would highly highly recommend having an event here ! The grounds are beautiful , the house is in pristine condition and the view is to die for ! Donna is amazing ! We were in constant email communication for 2 years! She answered all or any questions I had ! The day of our wedding our guest were raving about how beautiful the venue was and had never seen anything like it! It is awesome they had restrooms outside just for guest! The bridal and grooms suite was very nice and comfortable with the AC blasting ! If you are contemplating if to book this venue , just do it!!!! It is perfect for an outdoor event ! Especially now because of Covid ! It is spacious enough for all the tables and guest to be six feet apart! 1000% recommend !!! What a beautiful place to have a wedding! We came here for a wedding and it was so beautiful. The ceremony overlooked the beach and we were able to watch the sunset during the reception. It was gorgeous! The bride and groom and wedding party used both buildings which was super convenient. I will say some of the guests had a hard time finding the place. Maps didn't seem to always take you to the right location when you put in the address. Also, phone reception was spotty around there so if you got lost, it was hard to find service to reroute. If you do go or have guests who are coming who aren't from the area, let them know the entrance is across from Leoda's kitchen and pie shop. It may be easier to find that way. Parking was also initially confusing. We were expecting a parking lot and didn't realize the grassy area was for parking. read more

Here's a belated wedding venue review. I won't lie at first glance the venue seemed very bland undecorated, especially planning a wedding without ever seeing it until the day prior/ day of. BUT don't let that deceive you because once everything is set up in place, everything looks perfect! There are countless decorated Olowalu photos online and they speak for themselves. There are multiple backdrops depending where you want to do the ceremony with consideration for shade for your guests. There's a small peninsula that sticks into the water for a really great dramatic ocean/ mountain background photo opportunity. The space is wide open for guests to roam around and take their own photos, so who really needs a photo booth?? Most weddings are planned to coincide with sunset which only accentuates the ambiance as well. Highly recommend booking this venue, no regrets at all. read more

This place is perfect venue for an outdoor wedding. I could see it getting hairy a bit there if you have a big wedding, but even then I think you'd be ok as you could just add a bigger dance floor, and more tables chairs for dining and the ceremony. It's perfect though for our friends wedding that they had there on the 6th of April, 60 guests. The views of this place are 2nd to none, right on the hawaiian waters, it's honestly so cool and nice. They put the bar over right by the ocean, so when you're ordering drinks you overlook the ocean while you wait. The food was good, this I'm unsure if the Olowalu Plantation House was the one who handled the catering or not, but we had steak and shrimp and a sweet potato of some sort. There's also tons of other space and lawn area with shaded trees away from the house and dining area. All still with an ocean view. If someone wanted to get married in Hawaii, this would be the place I would recommend for sure. read more

Olowalu Plantation House was such an incredible venue!! Every corner had BEAUTIFUL backdrops for photos and left us with amazing memories. The most amazing scenery and so many different locations for a lot of different types of photos. So happy we had our wedding here!! Only downside was having a wedding in August it gets pretty hot, and the house didn't have A/C in all rooms. The room the men were getting ready in was very hot, so would just suggest adding more cooling inside. Added quite a few photos of all the different areas for photos - amazing! read more

Because it's 100 yrs old this year they only will allow the bridal party to use the inside of the house ... there are nice outside facilities to use for the guests and the caterers have a full kitchen at their disposal. read more

We had our wedding here in May 2017. There is no venue quite like Olowalu Plantation House. The pictures are always striking but nothing can compare to what it looks like in person. It is a private plantation-style estate with a sprawling green lawn and several palm trees directly on the ocean. The area gets plenty of sun, has tons of space, and is on one of the driest areas of Maui with great sunsets, not far from Lahaina. There are plenty of beautiful venues but Olowalu is so quiet, friendly, beautiful, and bright. As an added bonus Donna the property manager is great to work with, the outside area has a paved area for dining and dancing, and there are tons of parking for vendors and guests. If you value privacy, open space, and a beautiful scenic view in a convenient area of Maui for guests, then you will not do better than Olowalu Plantation House! read more

Get married here! Such a beautiful venue and backdrop for an Hawaiian wedding at sunset. There is a grassy knoll overlooking the ocean where they set up chairs and perform beautiful ceremonies. Then they can set up tables and dance floor outside of the plantation house for the reception. As part of the bridal party, we and the bride arrived early to do hair, makeup and get ready in the plantation house itself. The ceremony itself was magical, perfect weather just as the sun was setting and both times I have been here, there have been humpback whale sightings just behind us in the ocean. The perfect setting for optimal sunset photography and beach photos after the ceremony. The house staff was also very kind and accommodating. read more

I was married here and it was truly memorable! I count my blessings i was able to marry the man of my dreams on such a beautiful property! As it turned out, it poured rain the morning of my wedding. the wedding planner said he never encountered so much rain. We had to make the call to move my beach front wedding to the back porch of the plantation house. I was bummed when I got the call but by the time I "walked down the isle" aka walked through the house. The sun was up and dolphins were jumping around in the ocean. My friends asked how much I paid for that! Ha My outdoor dance floor was moved inside the house. At the end of the day my wedding was more intimate than I could imagine. Recently attended my second wedding here. The views are gorgeous, with Kahoolawe and Lanai as the backdrop. The beach is covered in river rocks and coral so don't expect carpets of sand. The grounds are nicely manicured with mature monkeypod & pine trees. Parking is adequate, and the plantation house is old & charming. The wedding party has use of the house to get ready. There's a spacious back porch over looking the ocean, nice living room, bathroom & shower and I believe 2 bedrooms, and a large kitchen off to one side that the caterers use. No tents can be erected as per county shoreline zoning laws but pergolas are allowed. read more

It is much more private than a hotel or beach. The best part we saw a ton of whales in the ocean as we were having dinner. Location is hard to find. It is on your right coming from Kaanapalli. We loved Olowalu Plantation House! We had our dream wedding there late August and I have to tell you, it was a dream come true. It was hard to truly imagine how our wedding would be since of course we hadn't had the experience of setting up the tables, seats, ceremony chairs and living the hours there with our family & friends. The reason we chose it over and above any beautiful resort on Maui - and there are lots to choose from - was because mainly we wanted a private, intimate ceremony and reception (in the same place) in a beautiful more natural setting with unobstructed view of the ocean! Olowalu is amazing and magical and guarantee it will exceed your expectations like it did ours. Donna who manages Olowalu is a gem and is so accommodating, delightful, helpful and full of great information and suggestions. She convinced us in 3 sentences that we should have a wedding planner and gave us several that have years of experience planning and arranging weddings on Maui that all have fantastic relationships with established and capable vendors. As a side note, all our vendors had experience at Olowalu and it showed - to them it was like a 2nd home ...and honestly for our hearts, Olowalu is our tropical home. Beautiful venue with an expansive ocean view. The grass lawn is well kept, and the cottage plantation house is adorable. I've never seen a more beautiful wedding reception. Guests arrived at about 4pm, where they found an open bar outside with h'ors deurves served by professional waiters. Everyone waited for the Maui sun to set over the Pacific, where all of a sudden, everyone is a professional photographer =) White linen tables were strewn across the lawn. The luau buffet food is best I've had in Maui. My favorite of the dishes were the grilled Mahi Mahi & Kahlua Pork. The staff were extremely nice, professional, and carried out a beautiful reception. Our friends had their wedding there and OH MY what an amazingly gorgeous venue! We started at 4pm and it was a bit hot out but I love that big tree that pretty much provided shade for all of the tables. The view is absolutely beautiful and the staff was really friendly. We played flip cups to introduce the wedding party, stuffed ourselves with delicious food, and danced the night away! And the icing on the cake: late night sliders! There's a small sand area by the bottom of the tree with chairs that's perfect for staring into the beautiful scenery and sunset. We just got married here on 11/15/2014 :) What a gorgeous, gorgeous venue. Honestly, it's more than a venue. It's an experience. When we decided to get hitched on Maui, we didn't want a hotel or resort wedding -- that just isn't our style. We wanted to avoid public beaches and random strangers walking through/by our wedding, and we wanted to keep it small and intimate with about 65 guests flying in from the mainland. Olowalu was just perfect. It's a private estate with sprawling lawns, gorgeous trees with plenty of shade, a historic and rustic chic plantation house, and beautiful landscaping throughout. The beach in front is rocky, but serves as a beautiful backdrop, especially during the ceremony and at sunset. There's even an orchard. It's absolutely perfect for a variety of photography opportunities. It's romantic, and feels like stepping back in time to "Old Hawaii." A plus about having your wedding at a private estate like Olowalu, is that you can purchase your own alcohol (like at Costco) and bring it in yourself -- then anything you don't open you can return. Typically at resorts/hotels, drinks are charged "on consumption" which means each drink per person is $15 times how many drinks per guest, times how many guests attending your wedding... it can really add up! Our awesome wedding planner, Lori Lawrence of Tropical Maui Weddings, is the best! :) It was a beautiful wedding and we wouldn't have done it any other way. Our guests raved about the beauty of the property, and we were quite happy with the privacy and the size of the home and the plentiful opportunities for photos. It was picture-perfect and I would choose Olowalu Plantation House over and again - amazing place to get married! They did an excellent job of assisting in organizing the wedding, and the venue turned out perfect. The wedding and the reception were all outside, right along the oceanfront, with waves breaking in the background. The house on the property was used by the bridal party to get ready. The wedding ceremony had the ocean and adjacent islands as the backdrop. We watched the sunset over the ocean while having cocktails, then moved to tables for dinner. Floodlights highlighted the breaking waves after dark. It really was a perfect venue. Friends in Maui said this was the best place to have a wedding. But even before we received those comments, our daughter already knew about the place. Its so beautiful and spacious. And if you're looking for a venue that has palm trees with ocean front views this is the spot! The beach is rocky not sandy. Many different spots you can take pics...beach, a small port, inside the house, grass area, etc. it will look like you're at different venues!! And from different angles your photographer can show mountains, beach, greenery in your pics!! The venue does get a bit breezy so things will fall off tables if they're light/ not secure. I love how this venue is so private unlike hotel resorts where anyone can peep into your wedding! All my guests loved the venue!! Only cons...no AC in the house so it gets really warm inside and there's only one bathroom!! Plus, you gotta be out by 10 pm!! It is a little pricey, but so worth it. We had chairs set up in the grass overlooking the ocean. We also had a guitarist playing, but you really don't need one because the waves splashing against the shore are so loud they are really all the ambiance you need. The house is very cute (but remember there's no AC). Lots of great places to take pictures all over the property (make sure you are here for sunset). It was nice having privacy as well. We had our wedding here in March and it was like a fairy tale. The ocean, the trees, the house, everything was so picturesque. We had a 75 person wedding and the venue was perfect in every way. There was a house for the bridal party to get ready in, outside bathrooms for all the guests, a cement dance floor, and an ocean front view that made all our pictures look amazing. We loved that it was secluded away from any pedestrian or road traffic, it was just us and our party. I don't think I'll be getting married again, but Olowalu was a perfect venue, and maybe we'll have to have plan an anniversary party to get ourselves back there. read more
