Ask the Community - Kukahiko Estate

For couples who have been married here-and for those who don't mind me asking- what was your budget for your wedding (estimate)? My fiancé & I are looking into this venue, but want to make sure it's within our budget before we get too attached, lol.

We had 20 people only and it was in the 5 digit range.

I really wanted to like this place more and we even made a drive out of it. I can see how it can be…read morereally nice (per IG) but I think we went at a bad time b/c it was pretty dead, lots of trucks were closed w/signs they'd be back in the evening so we were very limited in our food options. We went about 4ish but seems they're opened till much later and that's when it gets lively. It's a nice place to walk around though, but it's not very ADA friendly as there's lots of gravel and rocks so something to keep in mind. There's limited parking in the front but also a large parking lot in the back. Restrooms were clean.

Not what we expected when we read "gardens". It is more like an event space with lots of food…read moretrucks amongst the trees. Not like a garden you walk through with different plants and flowers. They have lots of things, though. There was a yoga session happening in the middle lawn area. They have a butterfly area, even though the butterflies were somewhere else. There is an aging tortoise, I forget his name. There are also different businesses in the buildings, like a spa and a salon. There are different small vendors with their booths and several food trucks; although, some were not open in the morning and the Thai food truck had all their items sold out on their menu already. The prices were even more pricier than the food trucks at Maui Food Trucks. One vendor had hand crafted desserts for $20/piece! I admired from afar, haha. Everything is advertised as "farm to table" maybe justifying their prices. We shared an acai bowl and it was mid. The the peanut butter was just scraped on the side of the bowl. Our typical acai bowls at least put the peanut/almond butter in the middle like any other topping so you can get an even bite with everything. But the dallop of peanut butter just on the side, it was like we ordered peanut butter on the side of our acai bowl. It was weird. I bet it's more alive at night with more food trucks open and live music. We came and saw and didn't come back. I can see how it can be great for families with toddlers running around, giving them a safe space to burn their energy. Until then, this probably won't be the top of our list.

To celebrate our babymoon, my husband and I spent a week at the Andaz Maui at Wailea. I booked our…read morestay through Costco travel which came with some lovely benefits, such as two complementary buffet breakfasts each morning as well as $100 in hotel credit to spend each day. From start to finish, our entire experience was absolutely wonderful. The hotel staff were all extremely kind and engaging, offering helpful tips and suggestions. We had nothing but positive interactions with the valet and the front desk. The staff that work at the on-site restaurants were also lovely. Our ocean view room was clean and spacious. It had all of the amenities we could hope for and the shower had wonderful water pressure. My only request would be that there was a shelf in the shower to put the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, as we ended up having to put them on the floor and bending over in the shower while pregnant is not an easy task. The linens were soft and I appreciated the opportunity to earn food and beverage credit or Hilton reward points if we opted out of having our room cleaned each day. The blackout curtains in the room were also wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the sunset from our balcony each evening and listening to the live music that was performed each night down by the pool. There was ample pool space with plenty of pool chairs, both in the sun and in the shade. Access to the beach was extremely easy. While we were there, we also took part in morning yoga, access to the complementary aquatic activities, a sound bath under the full moon, and the infamous luau. I also booked a prenatal massage at the spa, which was absolutely divine. Access to the Courtesy Car to drop us off at nearby restaurants for reservations was extremely convenient. We appreciated the complementary reusable water bottles and the local snacks and beverages that were restocked in our mini bar. All in all, it was an absolute incredible stay and the next time we find ourselves in Maui, we will absolutely be returning to the Andaz.

I initially planned on canceling our trip, but the hotel asked that we still come since they needed the business. I just didn't want to be in the way, but Lahaina is far away so we had no impact. It's a beautiful, huge resort with a great deal of amenities to include outdoor grills, basketball court, tennis courts, pool, etc. The onsite bar and restaurant is also very nice. It's in a great location near the center of Wailea and close to Kihei so it makes for easy travel. Love our stay here.

My expectations were high and the property, although stunning, left a bit to be desired in terms of the quality of the room. However, the reason I am giving this hotel my highest recommendation is because of the superb quality of my interactions with the staff. They were kind and committed to helping my family during an important family vacation. I felt like a guest at a friends home more than a guest at a hotel. We ended up moving to another area of Maui but I will always remember and appreciate the courtesy of the many members of the staff from Residence Inn being helpful to us during our brief stay. If hospitality is important to you, like it is me, you will be impressed by the staff's desire to help you enjoy your stay in a property that can only be described as stunning.

I loved my 8 night stay at the fairmont kea lani this year. I splurged a bit on the ocean view…read moresuite and it was worth every penny! Their suites are spacious and the lanai is perfect to watch sunsets every night. The pools are crowded and I did not use them but I did like the beach and service throughout the hotel. Check in was an easy process. Lux in particular was super nice and helped me deal with an issue I was having. They have a nice gym, I didn't use it as I having too much fun on this trip! Plenty of restaurants on site. Self parking is free and plenty so valet isn't necessary. My advice is to call the concierge before you arrive and book the complementary canoe ride as it gets filled fast. I called them from LA 2 weeks before arriving and got the last spot. It was one of the highlights of my trip! If you like great service, amazing views and like staying in South Maui, this is one of my favorite hotels there. I will definitely be back!

This is a beautiful property, with gracious well trained staff, lovely rooms and a great location…read more The best aspect of the hotel is that all the rooms are spacious well appointed suites. If you're a couple and you are there for more than two days you'll appreciate the ability of the early riser to get up, make some coffee and hang on the lanai without disturbing the one of you who likes to sleep in. The bathroom was large and luxurious and supplied with really nice Le Labo soaps, shampoos and lotions. In addition, the property is immaculate and the public spaces are beautiful. There are three attractive pools -- one of which is adult only and there's a beach with attended lounge chairs at the bottom edge of the property. Our stay included the breakfast buffet, which had a wide assortment of choices that were nicely prepared. A downside of the hotel is that they host a number of corporate events and it can sometimes feel a bit crowded. Many mornings during our stay, there was a good size line at the host's station to be seated for breakfast. And once we were seated, navigating the buffet stations was a bit hectic. Similarly, the lounge chairs on the beach are within inches of each other. When sitting on your lanai, the music from one corporate cocktail event or another provides the soundtrack for the evenings. And one final nit -- the Nespresso capsules in the room were very nice, but the coffee served at breakfast was abysmal. So don't get me wrong. This is a very nice place and we had an enjoyable stay. But if you're sensitive to having your own space most of the time, this might not work for you.
