Was craving some good Mexican food . We're from out of town so I read the yelp and decided to try it out Hands down best tasting Mexican food just like my grandmas . Haven't had food this good in years . There used to be this family run restaurant in our hometown but closed years ago . Olvera's had the same homemade taste . The enchiladas , Chile relleno's , the tacos so good especially the rice tasted like one of my grandmas and the beans just like my other grandma. The portions were perfect . I don't like when you go to restaurants and they give you too much food . We have another desert race next weekend so will be back ! read more

Visiting from Orange County and stopped in. Great little place, loved the chips, salsa was very tasty! Hubs got the XL Burrito- they are not kidding about it being XL...and it was delicious! Had a craving for carne asada fries but I couldn't find any place in Ridgecrest that had it on the menu. The hubby wanted tacos, so we yelped Mexican food & came to this place because it had the highest rating in town. It's kind of a hole-in-the-wall type of place, but those are usually the type of places that have the best food. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted & shown to a booth. The people working there are very friendly and attentive. The menus had a big selection compared to other Mexican restaurants in Ridgecrest. The first thing I noticed was that they had something called "nacho fries" so I asked our waiter if that's their version of carne asada fries & he said yes! So of course I ordered that. My husband ordered their version of tijuana tacos, I forgot what they called it on the menu though. They give you free chips and salsa, which are very good! The chips are fresh and the salsa tastes homemade and flavorful. My carne asada fries were alright, not as good as the ones I get in san diego. Next time I might just order the carnitas plate. My husband said his rice and beans were good but the tacos were kinda dry. If we go back again, it'll be because the service is great & the chips and salsa were yummy. Maybe we should order something different next time. I would recommend this place to others, it's worth a try! I'll still be on the search for the best Mexican restaurant in Ridgecrest! read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Ridgecrest! Love the chips and salsa! The buffet isn't big but what they offer is delicious and fresh. The staff is very friendly too. When my sister comes to town she always wants to eat here. My favorites are the cheese enchiladas and chicken tamales. The beans and rice are very good too. #1. They DO NOT have a buffet and should NOT say they do (they DON'T). They have a few (5 or 6) large plates that THEY will ask you about and THEY (NOT YOU) will take out a tiny piece of the item out and put it on your tiny plate . . . all WITHOUT a buffet "sanitary" (spit) shield so every single person that comes up is talking over the food (and spitting into it) along with the server for every person, so the problem is DOUBLED and twice as bad! #2. The food is very average at best and 100% American (something you'd get at Taco Bell and nothing you'd ever get at a good Mexican restaurant-----absolutely ZERO spices and ZERO taste!....EXTREMELY bland and tasteless). Something you'd expect to get in a hospital, nursing home, or for extremely elderly people that have stomach problems. #3. The place is also EXTREMELY small, cramped, (and when we were there) filled with screaming children which made us eat as quickly as possible and almost (literally) RUN out of the place! The owners did nothing to tell the parents to get their children in control. It was a complete TORTURE and such a disappointment. I would sincerely recommend NOT going to this place and saving your time and money. We will never go back and if you go, you won't either (absolutely terrible). read more

This is good place to try nontraditional Mexican food. So far we have sampled the shrimp enchiladas with green chili sauce and the chicken and beef stuffed calavacitas and they were delicious. They have a wide selection of dishes that we plan on trying but can't completely stop enjoying the traditional tacos, burritos and enchiladas. By the way, you can custom order the kind of meat that you want in your enchiladas etc. Try the enchiladas with carne asada.....so good. read more

Small town, Small small place but I swear there is a mexicana mom in the kitchen. The food was exactly how it should taste. I had horchata which was authentic as well as tostadas chile relleno and a pork tamale. All were up to par.my husband had the tamales as well and my son had soft tacos with the usual rice and refried beans. Only let down was the flan was a nasty flavorless custard instead of the real deal. And I should know, I grew up eating all these foods lol. Place was clean and inviting. Great service. I had the fish tacos, but like other reviewers, I knew it would be a good experience after having the chips and salsa which were way above average. Clearly the Best Mexican food in Ridgecrest! I found them because I was walking by Rite Aid toward Balsam and I caught a delicious whiff of their food. I had to go in. Being from California, I know real Mexican food and they tasted as good as they smelled! Totally Authentic! Has a lot of choices to choose from, and all the favorites.
