There is shrimp cocktail and salmon on the buffet table. Once everyone is ready for the turkey, they present the the whole turkey to the table prior to carving. Then the sides are served to the table. There was sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberries, green beans and carrots and gravy served with the carved turkey. Left overs are packed. Good food but still miss home cooking but for the price you can't beat it. Show up hungry and eat, no clean up.

French doors open to a small patio and overlooks the golf course. There were French doors on either side of the bar opening into the room where the reception was being held. BUT, only one set was being used as an entrance because otherwise, the doors of the other entrance would have opened right into people. The corner table was right there. Eventually, someone opened one side of the set, but it was not convenient, by any stretch. Service was speedy and food was very good.

For one thing, all the greens are elevated for proper drainage. Moreover, it's cart path only when wet. So how could this place be a dump? It's one of the harder short courses in the Chicagoland area at about 6600 yards with 131 slope rating and tight fairways. The greens slope downward from top to bottom with decent undulation. The pros: This course makes you think and shape your drives. It is always well manicured and very nice greens. We played when greens were wet and they were faster than most dry greens at other courses. I can only imagine how much faster they are when hot and dry. Most of the greens are in excellent shape with exception to some patchy areas. There is binocular on every cart for distance. The cons: All of the par 5s are on 1st 9 holes and none on 2nd 9 holes. I can't understand why. Some holes are poorly marked so you have to guess the distance if you make a bad shot. The course is a bit short for long hitters but you have to be accurate. I paid $37 in October which is a great price for this caliber of a course. Yes it's far from the city but it's well worth it.

Course has gone downhill and the lady in charge is far from welcoming and then blames all on those coming to play. So very sad. Stay away, ! By the way, our group played ever week 32 diff courses in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan. This is now the worst. And, least welcoming.

My sister and I were both fortunate enough to have celebrated our wedding receptions at the Flossmoor Country Club in the 1980's due to our grandmother's membership, even though our grandfather had passed away many years before. Since it is on such a busy street and is centrally located in the south suburbs of Chicago, the privacy of the clubhouse and parking lot makes the venue so lovely for a family event like a wedding reception or a shower. The beauty of the oak trees and greens were a perfect backdrop for wedding photos. The professionalism of the service staff and delicious meals were the best parts of these events. It has recently been brought to my attention that the Flossmoor Country Club has been purchased and will not allow wedding receptions and private banquets. I have mixed feelings about this. A private club, for members who can afford to sustain it, should be available on weekends and evenings for dinner service for it's members. However, a member should be allowed to plan a wedding in a clubhouse where he or she is a member. Nothing would make me happier than the Flossmoor Country Club to enjoy the success that they had in the past and, in this Renaissance, I believe that women and families should be the nexus of the club's mission statement.

Multiple cards containing cash, gift cards and checks in excess of $1500 were stolen from our card basket. The club tried to blame our guests, our band and even us saying we must have dropped them. After a police investigation the police have arrested a member of the staff at the club. We reached out to the club about trying to get some type of compensation, and they have never responded or even apologized for what happened. This incident has left us sick at heart and totally embarrassed, as we had to contact all our guests about the missing cards. It has put a big dark cloud over our memory of what should have been the happiest day of our lives.

The main problem was the food that was served. It started off really good with a salad containing mixed greens, apple slices, nuts, cheese..with a delicate dressing. Then came the main course, baked chicken with some kind of bread crumb topping that was over seasoned and very salty. To accompany the over seasoned chicken was some kind of au gratin potato creation which was savory and also very salty. The third item was what appeared to me to be overcooked broccoli again heavily seasoned with salt, pepper and some grated parm cheese. Three savory very salty items on a plate does not make for a fine meal. To me it seems the chef either has a diminished sense of taste or never checked to see what was going out on the floor. The other sad thing about this is that it was a mature crowd attending this event among which you often find people with health issues that need to limit sodium intake!
