A very nice little course located in Crete,Illinois. This course has a different layout than most 18 hole courses,with more par 3 and par 5 holes than conventional golf courses. For $40+ for round with a cart, my expectations are slightly higher for course condition, cart condition, and amenities. The course - Maybe I came at a bad time of year but this course is not well maintained at all. Divots everywhere, greens in bad shape, dry patches everywhere, sand is hard as a rock. In the courses defense, it hasn't rained in about 2 weeks but certain maintenance can be done to at least the t-boxes. I played from the reds and while ALL of them were well positioned, NONE of them were even or kept up. The carts - Gas, old, torn seats. They need to be updated. Badly. The golf shop - more like a corner of a bar that has a few golf necessities. Now you do have the option to drive your cart across the street to Lincolnshire County Club and use their shop. Actually, one of the benefits to golfing at Lincoln Oaks is that you have the country club across the street and it seems like some things about the course are interchangeable. The bar and restaurant are pretty nice and they do have gambling machines if you're interested. They offer a $6 breakfast buffet or $6 breakfast sandwich. I had the turkey burger, it came with fries - it was good! Overall, its hard to get on because there is always an outing and when you do get on, the price is too high for what you are getting. It is important to note that my review would be the same but my rating would be higher if the price was under $30 for 18 holes because that is what is is worth. read more

I've played many of Chicagoland's best golf courses, both public and private. Lincoln Oaks is far and away my favorite "everyday course". It's not long, but it can be an ass-kicker. You need to strike well to shoot well because of the tiny, challenging greens. I love it, I truly do. It's pretty hidden if you're not familiar with the area and Google maps may be your only guide but I promise you it's worth the greens fee read more

Great place to play a round of golf. Easy to walk unlike most of the newer courses. Not long but tough to score due to the small greens. Test of iron play and short game. Many shot options on most holes so you have to think a little. Staff is wonderful and the food is excellent. Enjoyed the people in the bar after the round. Worth a trip from the city or western suburbs to play. read more

It is difficult to find affordable golf courses to play on the weekends that are in good shape and not overbooked for 6hr rounds of golf. I played on a Sunday at 1:00pm and was done by 5:00pm. You can't complain about that. The course was in great condition other than a few areas damaged by water and a couple of greens that were being aerated. Even the stuff that drives you crazy on other public courses like ball marks on the green or huge divots on the tee box were more or less non issues here. I found the layout different - it seemed like every other hole was a Par 5 or Par 3, and at one point on the back nine if you hit the ball a little right off the tee you were in the unfenced driving range (if i had hit it there, I probably wouldn't play my ball at the risk of getting nailed by a ball.) Oddly enough, it ended up being Par 71. The greens were definitely challenging and it is only April. I don't know if I could handle the speed on these things come the dry season in July, it might be like putting on my driveway but we shall see. If the price, quality and speed weren't enough to get you out here, they offer a hot dog, chips and soda for free at the turn, so no matter how poorly you're playing at least you get a snack to lift your spirits. Have been playing Lincoln Oaks for the last decade. New owners in 2006 have improved the course and clubhouse tremendously over the past 5 years. Greens,Fairways,sand traps and condtion are always top notch. Play in a weekly league and had a small golf outing their in September. I had friends that belonged to a couple Country Clubs in the area and said" Linoln Oaks was in better shape than their own Country Club". The course is a fun layout and runs thru the neighborhood. I always have a good time when I play Lincoln Oaks. When I had my outing they took great care of my golfers and the food was really good for a fair price. I recomend Lincoln Oaks to all the golfers I talk to! read more
