My sister and I were both fortunate enough to have celebrated our wedding receptions at the Flossmoor Country Club in the 1980's due to our grandmother's membership, even though our grandfather had passed away many years before. Since it is on such a busy street and is centrally located in the south suburbs of Chicago, the privacy of the clubhouse and parking lot makes the venue so lovely for a family event like a wedding reception or a shower. The beauty of the oak trees and greens were a perfect backdrop for wedding photos. The professionalism of the service staff and delicious meals were the best parts of these events. It has recently been brought to my attention that the Flossmoor Country Club has been purchased and will not allow wedding receptions and private banquets. I have mixed feelings about this. A private club, for members who can afford to sustain it, should be available on weekends and evenings for dinner service for it's members. However, a member should be allowed to plan a wedding in a clubhouse where he or she is a member. Nothing would make me happier than the Flossmoor Country Club to enjoy the success that they had in the past and, in this Renaissance, I believe that women and families should be the nexus of the club's mission statement.

Multiple cards containing cash, gift cards and checks in excess of $1500 were stolen from our card basket. The club tried to blame our guests, our band and even us saying we must have dropped them. After a police investigation the police have arrested a member of the staff at the club. We reached out to the club about trying to get some type of compensation, and they have never responded or even apologized for what happened. This incident has left us sick at heart and totally embarrassed, as we had to contact all our guests about the missing cards. It has put a big dark cloud over our memory of what should have been the happiest day of our lives.

They had a table setup for coffee or tea. All was served efficiently.

From the start we didn't like a couple of their rules but after writing the owner we worked out a suitable solution. I had 3 specific beers i wanted to order just a case of for certain people. so, for 200 extra dollars I got my 3 cases of beer. It was very difficult dealing with anyone else but Maria, the men were all condescending. it was raining at the start of my wedding, so I did not go outside to decorate the courtyard. Rain stopped 7:30pm. dinner was very slow service took forever in-between soup, salad and entrees. my timeline was being throw off, so had to go right into schedule without eating much. The coordinator and our server were very good that night. no complaints about them. she asked if I wanted anything boxed up. I said yes but never received anything(so not sure what that was about). around 10:26 noticed I forgot to put cigars in courtyard. went to put them out and it was locked. never opened no fire on no waterfalls. had it unlocked. also noticed my friend that I purchased a special case of beer for wasn't drinking. I asked why she said because at the beginning of the night the bartender said they didn't have any. she had 5 beers. This is where it goes really bad. Monday, I returned because someone had packed an easel in my things, I was returning it to them. I did not get a name of the man I spoke to, but I told him I had some concerned to tell him about and he immediately was defensive. He said it isn't that you didn't have fun because you did. I'm the type that has fun anywhere, so I said just that, I have fun no matter what. I told him courtyard wasn't unlocked he said it was at 8. I said we were still eating at 8 and that I hadn't noticed until 1030 or 11 so he was not correct. He said he didn't have a clock on him, but I was wrong and I had use of my courtyard. umm at 11 when my party was over and only when I noticed. also, no waterfalls or fireplace going. he said uplighting was on. I said didn't mention that because I knew it was on. he said it was because of the rain that stopped at 730. I told him about my friend's beer and he said the other two beers were gone. Later I found out this was a liie as well but . I said again wasn't talking about the other two. Just the one and he said 18 beers were gone. She had 5 and another girl had 1 . He said he counted himself and brought me the 6 pack to take home. people later said how staff kept taking full glasses and the wine from the tables beefore finished. All that and I am called a liar. I don't think I'm very difficult to deal with, but I would not waste your time with this venue. There are too many honest venues out there and you will get everything you paid for. and not be talked down to, when what I was saying was not out of line.

The food was unexpected for the price range. The Korean cauliflower bites aren't tossed evenly and the dressing itself isn't mixed; each bite varies in spice level. Kitchen prep lacks quality -- gumbo had strings of sausage cubes connected by its lining and steak potato cubes were variable in shape/size. Fried green tomatoes are surprisingly thick crumb-coated when you consider how small and dry the Korean short ribs are. I tried salmon once; the odd presentation over mash, surrounded by bright orange reduction was off-putting. It was also clearly not done in the center. The Angus burger was my consistent safe choice. There is a small fitness facility within the womens locker room. It has various small pieces, including a peloton. Most staff are new to their roles -- the desk person who checked me in, the catering assigned to our conference room, and the kitchen staff who set my plated meal an arms distance away instead of onto the leather pad in front of me. A bit timid but generally nice.

The tee boxes and greens are in good shape. It is a very forgiving course as there is very little in between each of the fairways which are rather compactly laid out next week chiller. None of the holes are north of 86th and nine of the holes are on the south aide of the street. The strange thing is since it is a private course there are no markers for the tea boxes and you don't know what hoke you are on without your caddie. There are no bushes or demarcations between greens and the next holes tee boxes so it feels kind of wide open. If you walk each person gets their own caddie, if you take a cart each foursome gets a walking fore caddie. Everyone was extremely nice at the club. From the gentleman at the bag drop to the starter to the caddies and the servers at the grill. We had lunch before the round and two of her group and the burger. It look like it was about 10 ounces in weight and they said it was season very well and delicious. I had the three mini pork belly sliders with tomato jam and they were very flavorful and just the right size. The french fries were well browned and nicely seasoned. Have no idea what this place costs to be a member but if you have a chance to play there don't hesitate.

Returning recently as a player was a truly meaningful experience. The clubhouse remains as impressive and welcoming as ever, and the course continues to offer that perfect balance of challenge, beauty, and enjoyment. What stands out most is the overall experience--historic, thoughtfully maintained, and incredibly rewarding to play. It also represents one of the best values in golf, which makes it even more special. If you're considering where to play this season, I would strongly encourage making Ravisloe a priority. Extremely long and slow greens, I'm assuming they haven't mowed in several days. Still charged $125 for a 10am tee time on Friday with no notification to players with how bad the course is. Either notify players on the condition or dont charge $125. Honestly, it's disrespectful. The club pro, Andrew, said "tough luck". Very helpful. I separately heard his coaching isn't the greatest.
