Does a great job for $6.00. I never recommend getting hot wax or even the clearcoat. If you cannot give your car a sealant yourself, pay to have it detailed once a year. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that this car wash uses brushes in place of 'brushless'. Just a personal preference. read more

This car wash is plagued with problems. Recently almost all the self wash stalls are closed, today is cash only. Later on it was card only, no cash. Almost all of the time the hoses leak all over you. Sometimes I'd argue that the rinse is actually spraying a clear coat instead.. rinse would leave suds all over the car and I'd have to use spot free to rinse that crap off. read more

I'd like to start this off by saying that this was my first time going to a car wash by myself (I'm a younger gal). While the car wash itself was good and I appreciated the free token for a vacuum service, one of the older men there was very rude and inconsiderate. I was having a little trouble aligning my tire to get into the car wash, and the man threw his hands up in the air and hung his head back in exasperation. Most employees were very kind and helpful, but beware if you're a younger lady because they will likely assume that you know absolutely nothing about driving your own car. read more

Avoid Olympic car wash at 64th and Neiman at all cost! The Frayed wraps in the tunnel got caught on my factory emblem and ripped it off and beat the side of my car causing $3200 worth of damage and they refuse to fix it. At the same time they brought my broken piece out, there were other car parts that had been ripped off inside the tunnel from other vehicles. So beware of taking your car there unless you want to have damage. Also if you go to the brushless side and pay more than $6 you're not getting the foam that you're paying for so it's useless to pay more than $6 for the brushless (another ripoff!). There is so much more I could tell you about this car wash and how they rip you off because I worked there for 2 years, but I will leave it at that today just avoid using their facility and tell everyone! I have been using this car wash for about 4 months & fully understand how the brushless part works. But on Wednesday, November 13th, the one that is on the east was not working. I tried several times by backing up & re-entering, but it would not acknowledge my car & I came within inches of the closed garage door in the back. I tried calling the main number for help but only got voice mail. I tried honking and still no help. I backed up far enough for the attendant of the brush car wash to see me & get help. The chubby 'good old boy' in farmer overalls who came to help me did not ask what the problem was but starting talking to me as if I was stupid and a child. Didn't bother to find out what the problem was just assumed that as a woman I was too dumb to know how it works. read more

Their drive through car wash made a big gouge and scratch on my fender and wheel cover they refuse to do anything about it. There is absolutely no question that the scratch happened there. I noticed it when I came out of the wash. They told me I didn't drive in right. BS Also the gentleman refused to give any nformation who owns or operates the car wash and his last name. So to get the monthly pass again I have to rip the old one off my windshield and yes it stuck darn hard with their adhesive. One of the best do it yourself washes in KC metro (If not THE best in the metro) It's also terribly popular. If you want to wash your car, don't bother on a Saturday morning. Despite the large amount of stalls, the wait wll be huge. The stalls also have a credit card swipe. So there's no need to run to the nearby QT and beg for smaller bills to use in the change machine there. One of my favorite features is the do it yourself car dryer. It cost $1 and you drive through it at a slow pace. It's awesome at drying your car up as opposed to trying to get on Shawnee Mission Pkwy and speed the water off. (Not that I do that, I'm putting it out there because apparently it's a ritual for people to speed on SM pkwy in futile attempts of drying their cars.) read more

I've used the self service bays at Olympic hundreds of times over the years - sometimes multiple times per week. The people there are nice - even the grouchy old farts who are younger than me - but equipment is often not working properly. I've notified staff countless times of problems but they are rarely fixed by the time I try the same stall again. For example, in several bays it takes a minute or two to get the washing system to change modes, e.g. from "wash" to "rinse" with it sometimes necessary to select other modes and then go back to "rinse" to get the setting to take effect. Some of the hoses leak badly where they connect to the wands causing me to get pretty doused with water by the time I'm through. I've had lots of quarter coins "eaten" in the stalls. Sometimes I complain and get a refund but usually I just let it pass. I used to try to keep track of which stalls were working properly but it's hard to do when there are so many that have problems with new problems arising between visits. I guess I'll move on to using another car wash even if I have to drive much further. read more

The first automatic car wash bay malfunctioned while I was in the car wash cycle. The car in front and behind me caused damages to my vehicle due to carwash malfunction. My insurance was not able to contact them. I had over 1000 worth in damage from this carwash bay. I was scared, overwhelmed and confused about what happened. They were not interested in helping me after I let the manager aware of what happened. I honked my horn and he stopped the car wash. But then acted like he didn't know anything had happened. After that they closed they bay down and had everyone pull out. Still no contact about the incident after leaving and turning it into insurance. I was told by officer I had to file a small claim to get any out of pocket expenses paid. read more

My only issue is you when you use a credit card in the bay they require a minimum of $4, but they "soft charge" my account $10! Why? Why not just "soft charge" my account $4? read more

My car looks great, brand new, and ALL the nasty road dirt from this time of year is gone. When I go to a car wash i expect to clean my car when I was asked to leave because of the water based paint on my car because they didn't want a bad review if "the paint transferred to another car" this was all after i had paid for the $12 wash when they gave me half of my money back and told me to move on they told me to go through the smaller tunnel to get the paint off because it didn't have any bristles to transfer the paint... it didn't even touch what was left on my car. All of this goes to say that they were rude and didn't even give me all of my money back and doing what they told me to do so the water based paint that doesn't transfer because it dissolves in water would come off. Maybe if it was a better car wash with better employees who actually do their job instead of flirting this wouldn't be an issue. i've been a loyal customer for many years i will never return to this car wash again. read more

I want the public (or at least the Yelp community) to know of my issue with Olympic. I went through the brushless left bay on Wednesday, 1/16/13. The next day I discovered a piece of plastic had come off from my vehicle. Now I know this car wash is prolly like every other car wash in that they state somewhere that they are not responsible for any damages; and I'm fine with that. This review is not about that. Instead, this review is about what happened after the fact. Today (1/17/13), when I discovered the piece missing, I called Olympic (at 8:37 AM). I just moved to the area recently and so I was not sure if they were even open at that time. I left a voicemail stating the above issue and asked if they happened to have found my missing piece to please call me. When I got off work, I was hoping to have a voicemail or at the very least, a missed return call from them. I had neither. So I decided I would stop by there on my way home and check in person. I should note that this plastic piece costs about $120.00 to replace; and that's just for the piece itself. Believe me, I wouldn't be making such a fuss if it was a small, cheap fix. Especially after the conclusion of all this. When I arrived at Olympic around 6:00 PM, I first stopped up by the office and where the automatic washing bays are. A be-speckled man was working and I asked him about my missing piece. I explained I was not there to hold them responsible, I just wanted to have my piece back. He checked around in the back somewhere and came out with a piece I thought was mine but it was too short. He told me there was nothing else in the back and then directed me toward his coworker who was out by the dumpster. I went over to the dumpster and explained to the second employee my situation with the missing piece. We looked around the dumpster a little but did not see it. He informed me that he had been cleaning the trash receptacles all day and that I was more than welcome to dumpster dive to try and find it. Being that I had just come from work, I was in no condition to do that. I asked if I could come back later that night with my boyfriend and see if it was in there. The second employee said it would be fine to do so. I should also note that one of the employees told me that they "thoroughly" clean the bays each night. And you'll understand in a minute why I threw quotations around that. My boyfriend and I headed back to Olympic at around 8:00 PM and went straight to the dumpster. Just take a wild guess at what happens to be sitting at the very top of the trash. My plastic piece! And to add insult to injury- it has been purposely bent in half! We're going to try and salvage it, but I'm not holding out too much hope. So here's what I want to know: why lie about not having the piece? Or, if they really did just happen to find it within the 2 hours between when I first showed up and when I came back, why didn't they just call me? I told them I had left my contact info on their voicemail. I will not be spending my money here any more knowing that this is how Olympic chooses to operate their business and treat their customers. I looked for a way to contact them via email on their website, but there is no way to contact them besides calling, and you already know what that got me. read more

Thankful I did because that Rainx stuff made it so the snow and ice didn't stick to my windshield! My only complaint here is the soap spots after about 15 minutes after you leave the car wash. Olympic Car Wash is really a mixed bag of things. The car wash itself was fine, but the service and the wait here were absolutely atrocious. Someone seriously needs to do a wait-time analysis on this place (I'm waving at you, UMKC Supply Chain professors out there), because their operations are strangely inefficient. I get that car wash centers on the weekend are usually packed to the brim with people. I get that I should expect to wait longer than usual. But given the number of cars in front of me (about 7) and the fact that there are TWO car wash drive-throughs with two distinct lines, I shouldn't have had to wait over 30 minutes to finally pull my car through the drive-through. The issue here, I think, has to do with 1) their car wash options, and 2) lack of customer service. They have tiers of car wash options, and it seems like some of the premium wash options take twice as long, if not longer, than the standard option. Maybe, maybe not--but there were some cars in that drive-through for close to 10 minutes while others were in-and-out in under 5. Maybe some cars didn't know how to "proceed" to the next step--which is quite ambiguous because you don't put your car in neutral like you have to in other places--or maybe some cars genuinely got longer washes. Regardless, the lack of customer service here didn't help the case at all. Typically, each of the pay centers right before the drive-through has someone who works at the car wash standing there to help answer questions, navigate the pay center options, etc. but there was NO ONE there. At either station. The two guys who worked there were standing around in the self-help vacuuming section of the car wash doing absolutely nothing. They were responsive when someone called them over for help, but all of this just added more time to an already-long queue of cars had they been there to help and expedite the process in the first place. The car wash itself was good, but their poor customer service and flawed drive-through design add to the wait times don't help their cause. I don't really plan on returning here on the weekends unless absolutely necessary, and will update my review if/when I do come back on a less busy day. read more

This is the nicest car wash in the area. The self wash takes credit cards, good water pressure (especially the pre-wash and final rinse). For the lazy days, the auto wash does a really good job. My 11in wide wheels on my X5 fit through the wash. I've been going here for 3yrs, no issues with swirl marks or scratches. The price is fair and the place is well kept. Such a great car wash especially for the price. I always go through the automatic and it is six dollars for the basic wash and I never feel like I got ripped off. The only reason I did not give five stars is because the heat dry part could be a little bit longer like some of the other carwashes I have been through. Bonus is that you get a free vacuum token with every automatic car wash and one token is plenty of time for me to get my car and trunk vacuumed out. I could not be more livid right now. If you live in the Shawnee area DO NOT EVER go to Olympic Car wash off of Nieman Rd. in Shawnee, KS. They have the most horrible customer service I have ever experienced, and I've worked in the service industry for years! Not only was their customer service horrible but their equipment completely destroyed my car. My brand new car that I have had for 3 months now has scratches all over it, and they are now refusing to pay for the damage. After going through their car wash yesterday I came home and noticed the scratches so I brought it back to the car wash to file a claim. I was told by a man, who looked at my car for two seconds, that the damage was not their fault, of course, why would it be right? And he would not let me file a claim. I am now filing a claim with my insurance to go after his to repair the damages. Please let everyone you know to stay far away from this business! read more

No they are not free, you get 4 minute token and it isn't even enough time to get to your mats. I will not be returning as the free vacuum is what I need the most. I went to wash my truck today. And as many know this has been an incredibly wet spring. Well I work in construction and a muddy job site is nearly unavoidable when it rains this much so my truck was a little dirty. As I'm washing my truck one of the employees walks up to me and tells me, "Next time your truck is muddy I suggest you don't come here." Needless to say I wont be returning because of this. read more
