The good: Punctual Finished before deadline Nice concrete work The bad: Quoted one price, made promises about what we'd get, John sprung additional "over budget" costs at the end, despite the fact we discussed these items when we got our initial bid. Sneaky. Damaged my stucco in several areas; had to keep calling for them to repair. Repair is not even complete. Never heard from them again. Plants are spaced wonky ..... for example 2 flower bushes are close together and the third is another foot away, looks silly. Shade tree placed in yard is not centered on the hole that was dug, so the border looks crooked. drives me crazy!! Gate does not match fencing and it looks like crap. No really, it looks bad. Why have a non matching gate?! The gate is dog ear fencing and the rest of the fence is wire with framing. Space under gate was filled with random extra bricks instead of a kick board. Again, looks bad and lazy. They quoted us for 24x24 stepping stones only to get cheap ugly 12x12 stones. Also, at least 6 of our plants have died in the year since they landscaped. BOO!

One specific issue I wanted to note below: Here is what the contract said: "Fix and move existing irrigation in the backyard to new shape of lawn." When they put in new irrigation, they chose to bury an old sprinkler. The old sprinkler is now leaking. Why didn't they just FIX AND MOVE the old sprinkler like the contract said? Owner danced around this question, and they won't repair it. Now I will have to pay a new company to repair it. There were some other questionable events, but I will be respectful and not go into them. I DO NOT recommend using Shear Perfection Landscape.

Chad was friendly, professional, had exceptional working knowledge, explained things perfectly, and listened to my goals (so important!). He immediately understood what I wanted to do with both yards, offering wonderful suggestions based on his years of experience. The quote I received was great, covering everything Chad and I had discussed. They were able to get me on their schedule right away. The team that came out and performed the work (Romeo, Luke, Roberto and Caesar) were exceptional. Always friendly, professional, willing to answer my many questions (lol!), and their work product was perfect. Andrea was a fantastic Admin. She kept all the paperwork and communication flowing, and was a wonderful resource when I had questions. Chad was great - onsite and present often, providing information and ensuring that I was happy with the progress. The project included: demoing the bark, patio and existing fountain; removing plants; replacing old drip and lighting lines; replacing irrigation valves and solenoids; finishing all beds with lava rock; pouring approx (1000) sq ft of concrete - 2 color stamped pattern; installing a header board along a property line; and building a mini retaining wall along the sidewalk. They cleaned up everything when they were finished, it was spotless. The work done was exactly as we discussed and I am so pleased. They will be coming back out to seal the concrete after it is done curing. Based on my wonderful experience with them I highly recommend Shear Perfection Landscaping. From start to finish the backyard project took over a year to finish. Our backyard project was not big. This was an extremely stressful process as we had to check up on the work throughout; at points we went months without any work being done and David always had an excuse. Admittedly, we didn't have all the final decisions made prior to the start and things were fluid at times but there was always work that could have been done which didn't happen unless we pushed. With the amount we paid we thought the owner would have been more helpful with design but were left to do research and find/look at materials ourselves. We had to withhold payments because work wasn't being done despite being pestered and payments demanded from the owner. Numerous times we had to have conversations regarding progressive payments being demanded by the owner despite lack of work being performed. The only thing that motivated the owner to get back to work was us withholding payment. The owner clearly had too many projects and not enough workers resulting in the customer suffering which we heard from one of the workers was an issue with his other jobs too. We had a large landscaping company come out while we had one of the long breaks in work and pointed out many issues and stated they would've completed the job in 3 weeks. It was exhausting and stressful to have to inspect every aspect of the job and find subpar work being performed/corners being cut. An issue we still have is drainage, which we questioned the owner about prior to finishing the project but were assured it wouldn't be an issue. We trusted him but again learned the hard way not to. We are going to have to hire another company to fix the lake that arrives in the middle of our backyard when a large rain occurs. Our project was expensive and his bid was on the high side compared with others so needless to say we expected much better.
