Dr. Pappas himself is amazing - adept at diagnosing and treating extremely delicate areas of the eye and retina, calm when explaining procedures to nervous patients (like me!) and willing to take as much time as needed to answer questions and conduct follow up visits. We were kept waiting for 90+ minutes.... Opthamologist was clearly knowledgable but distracted/stressed. Perhaps some of the disorganization was due to Covad but with a huge staff, it clearly wasn't due to a lack of personnel.

LOL First, and foremost, Dr. Hendrix is an expert in his craft. He is efficient, knowledgeable, and most importantly leans on the conservative side. I started seeing him in the late 90's when I had virtually no issues with my young eyes, and been with him as I went through middle age, with floaters and now glasses, a corneal injury and several other maintenance procedures (i.e., removing concretions), and allergies. He sometimes spends more time talking you out of doing something rather than doing it, but his advice has always been spot on. He talked me out of a YAAG floater surgery which later turned out to be more controversial than the doctor peddling it was making it seem. His office staff is very hand-picked. They lean towards being more reserved and paced, and everyone is friendly. The front desk can at times seem abrasive, but there is a heavy load on them and once things quiet down they're very friendly, and very helpful (especially on forms, payment, etc). The exams can and do take a long time... but they are VERY comprehensive. It was his office that gave me my first OCT exam, plus a few other firsts. All in all, he's THE eye doctor that everyone in my family goes to now, including emergency cases. The wait is definitely long... but if you have a more convoluted or sensitive issue with your eyes, definitely don't roll the dice with just anybody. Forgot one thing: Dr. Hendrix started out in an older smaller office back on Rollins ave in Rockville, but he's since moved to this new Tower Oaks location. The new office is top notch, comfortable and easy to get to from all points north or south of Exit 4 on 270... along with plenty of parking and space to fit patients as they transition between tests.

Not only did the ER staff caring for me make my appointment, they offered me transportation. Upon walking into the office that was modernized & decorated in every sense of a contemporary medical office's waiting room should be, it was. The Patient Care Representatives behind the counter welcomed me & stated they were expecting me. My insurance was already processed & the wait time was 5 minuets or less. Dr. Sastry came out, introduced himself & personally escorted me to the exam room, which exuded a soothing atmosphere...the dim lights was the perfect balance. Dr. Sastry's kindred approach, explanations as he examined me & overall care was high standard. Although he's an Ophthalmology Specialist, his practice welcomes regular eye exams & services. As Dr. Sasrty stated, my blurred vision subsided within a few days from after "seeing" him. I'm beyond grateful for being extended the wonderful patient care service in its entirety & back to enjoying my visual acuity of 20/20.

I learned today, that his father and grandfather are ophthalmologists too. Dr. Bahn told me that he knew what he wanted to be, since he was a child and he is excellent at his work. Dr. Bahn makes your examination painless, but he is very thorough. His office staff are nice and efficient. I always get a warm welcome when I walk in the door. I would give him ten stars if I could.

I don't know why I was so nervous, the surgery on both eyes was over so quickly and I was so well-informed about what post-surgery would feel like, that I had no surprises whatsoever. If you are going to trust your vision with anyone, then do so with Dr. Holzman. The big offices just gave me the "next available" appointment, which was several months away. Dr Katz's office is small, so Dr Katz himself looked at my referral and saw me quickly. My recommendation to new patients: hold your questions. Let Dr Katz ask all of his questions. Answer them clearly, but briefly. He has a method to figure out your vision problem, but follow his lead. I still had questions at the end of my appointment and Dr Katz patiently answered all of them. Tip #2: when you go to the exam room, sit in the "patient" chair if you're the patient. Good luck if you're seeing neuro-opthamology, but you're in good hands with Dr Katz.
