    Rahmschnitzel
    Lynn A.

Everyone who knows us are aware of our love of German food. Recently good friends told us about a new German establishment in Hope Mills named Oma's Schnitzel Haus. Today we finally got the opportunity to go over and try their excellent food. The schnitzels were outstanding, with wonderful sauces that really were authentic and delicious. The red cabbage side dish (Rotkohl) was spot on, with the wonderful taste of apple gleaming through, and the cucumber salad was also excellent. The Jägerschnitzel mushroom sauce was dead on great, and so was the Rahmschnitzel cream sauce. The Spätzle was fresh, tender, and succulent as well, we asked for Jäger sauce on it. Both of our desserts were perfect. The German Cheesecake was especially wonderful, with the exact density we've not had since coming back from Germany. We both highly recommend Oma's Schnitzel Haus. The only slightly inconvenient thing is that they are, at present, only take out, with no inside seating in the convenience store, where they are located, However, that will not stop us from returning. We will go again and again to get this top notch bit of German heaven. Everything was truly authentic and truly enjoyable. P.S. I asked for a taste of the Currywurst sauce, and it was the closest thing to what I had in Germany.

Soul food (when done right) is expensive, time consuming, but most importantly a labor of love. Our Kale's Kitchen food didn't taste like business. It was something akin to what you would expect granny to serve Sunday after service. Our orders of Turkey Wing, and Stuffed Chicken were each accompanied with green beans and mac and cheese. I also ordered a side of yams. The Turkey Wing was tender and flavorful. The green beans (from a can, I believe) were cooked in a broth of some kind and well seasoned. Mac and cheese buttery and loaded with a mild cheese(s). The stuffed chicken is a very large breast stuff with a more complex cheese mixture similar to perhaps an artichoke dip. Yams thick not watery and well seasoned. Very, very, very good! Fun fact: I used to really be out here ordering from these Instagram chefs and Kales Kitchen was one of them. I think it was a 10 meal prep for less than $100.00. We had a quality issue and she was quick to respond and resolve and I love to see the growth. With that being said, you will have to be flexible. They are still working through process issues. However, for me, the food justified the inconvenience. Considering all the hype that isn't an easy feat. Soul Food 4.7

Was excited to try a new place but beware, their hours vary by day. I arrived where their website…read moresaid they were open till 3:59am only to be told they closed at 8:30pm on a Saturday... I was also told the menu changes daily... whenever I'm on this side of town maybe I'll give them a try but I won't go out of my way to visit a place that says download Instagram to see if they're open/what they have for the day. You're a restaurant with a website wasting a domain ... at least ATTEMPT to keep that accurate! Also, to clarify: If you check sanitation scores like I do - they used to be listed as KALE'S KITCHEN but are now listed as KALES AT JOE'S DINER. They do have a good grade though!! Just something to be aware of if you check places frequently like I do.

I hired Sean for my wedding in September, and it was a huge disappointment. The food did not match…read morethe tasting we paid for, which completely affected our special day. During the tasting, he kept emphasizing "execution" like that would be the star of the show--well, it wasn't. The chicken, which was supposed to be stuffed, came with a sauce on top--something he never cleared with us. The rolls, which were injected with delicious honey butter at the tasting, were served as generic rolls, and the green beans were hard as hell. When I addressed the issues, he was very "blah" about it in my opinion.. He said "everybody else liked it," and even mentioned getting compliments from guests. Um... MY FAMILY for my husband and I paid $3,750, not the wedding guests, and that doesn't make up for the disappointment. So guess who should've been satisfied? I didn't think that took a rocket science to figure out. He also admitted that because he did it at a discounted price, he didn't execute it like he wanted. It was our wedding, not a trial run (had that chance at the tasting), and pricing concerns should have been addressed at the tasting. A solution was offered afterward--come to his home to cook for my husband and I--but it couldn't undo the fact that our wedding meal was ruined. Paying for "professional" service should mean your expectations are met--and in this case, they were not. I cannot recommend this chef if you actually want the food you were promised on your big day.

That alone is a bonus since the view of the dunes is lovely AND it's actually less noisy than a table in the middle of the floor. We were 4 and the other couple had not been there in quite a while. 3 of us ordered from the early menu and all the food was very good. I had the petite filet and shrimp. The filet & shrimp were done perfectly. My friend had the nut coated chicken and loved it. Her husband had the crab cake and enjoyed it with crispy onion rings. My husband had the tenderloin medallions from the regular menu and enjoyed them as always. Service was great with Cody and it's not easy in a restaurant so busy and popular. We've been going there for 20+yrs and are thrilled you can finally make reservations on line rather than having to call.

She was very kind and reassured me that the lunch crowd tends to be more casual. We were seated and served by Cody. It appeared the restaurant was a little short-staffed, as it took some time for our drinks, food, and even the check to arrive. Despite that, Cody seemed to be doing his best and remained friendly throughout our visit. As for the food, I ordered the fish and chips. It was decent, but nothing particularly memorable or something I'd go out of my way to order again. My 3-star rating is based solely on the food. The staff was pleasant and hardworking, especially considering they seemed short-handed during the lunch rush.
