I can't speak to the pick-up service, but I've had good experiences with Omega Shuttle coming from both Midway and O'Hare. The drivers were friendly and helpful, they left promptly at the scheduled departure times, and they drove fast but safely. I think they leave every hour from the airport and I'm usually able to board a shuttle without an advance reservation. Their prices are also extremely reasonable--they're cheaper than a taxi cab and lower than most other airport shuttle services. One tip for the cheapskates: Omega has several pre-set boarding locations throughout Hyde Park and the South Side (the list is on their website). If you live around the corner from one of those stops and you don't mind dragging your luggage a little more, you can save a few dollars by getting dropped off at a boarding location instead of at your front door. read more

My Omega Story: I was visiting hyde park from NYC for one day to find an apartment. I had several appointments scheduled for the day. I knew time would be valuable so I planned to arrive early, leave late, and I scheduled everything a week in advance. I confirmed my shuttle's time, date and locations the day before. I arrived at O'Hare and walked to the pickup location by the bus stops. I was told by an Omega employee that the shuttle would be there early (9AM) and that the trip would only take 30 minutes. I was very excited. He took my money in exchange for a ticket, then he drove off in his van and told me the shuttle would be there shortly. Thirty minutes went by, and it was 9 AM. I was not yet concerned because I had scheduled for 9:30. I called and they assured me that the shuttle would be there at 9:30. At 9:30, I called and they assured me it would be there momentarily. At 10, I called and they said he was around the corner. The shuttle arrived at 10:30. The driver got out and took ten minutes to smoke a cigarette. Then once we did leave, the shuttle took over an hour to get to Hyde Park. I promptly cancelled my return shuttle and took a taxi. It was more expensive, but I knew it wouldn't cause me to miss my flight home. I will never use Omega again. read more

Seems like a more haphazard operation. I was looking for a shuttle downtown from O'Hare and found the clerk sitting at an unmarked desk. When I asked if they could take me to McCormick Place he said "yeah" and sat back. He seemed a bit bored and looked like he was about to drift off to sleep and I had to explain that I wanted to buy a ticket. When we finally got to that point he said that I had to pay cash (one way ticket $35) and offered me change from a roll of ones in his pocket. It did cross my mind that someone sitting at an unmarked desk conducting transactions from pocket money could be somewhat less than legitimate, but after 30 minutes the shuttle did arrive. The driver was pleasant enough and deposited me in front of my hotel without issues. Since it seemed disorganized, I only booked one way and used a different shuttle back to the airport. There was nothing awful about this experience, but I found Airport Express to be more organized and cheaper. Consider Omega a viable option, but not the best one for your transit needs. read more

They are over priced and run what could be the worst shuttle company in the history of man kind. I'd rather board a train to Auschwitz than deal with this god damn company ever again. First off they are expensive and the drivers insist on being paid in cash. They arbitrarily raise rates without notice and supposedly have a scheduled shuttle that leaves O'Hare every 30-40 mins. I distinctly remember sitting in the dead of winter outside waiting for the shuttle for over an hour. Do you have any idea what the weather is like in Chicago in the winter? When it comes to being picked up and taken to the airport they never arrive on time. I have made reservations weeks in advance and they have even completely forgotten about me. Leaving me stranded and making me almost miss my flight! Don't bother calling customer service. They never answer the phone and will just have you leave a voice message that will never be returned. It's almost like calling a local state government office. The worst thing about this company is that when it comes to serving the S. Side of Chicago, they own a little monopoly. They are the ONLY shuttle company that operates trips to Hyde Park and some of the other S. Side neighborhoods so they have no competition and no incentive to improve their service. You may thank your alderman for this one. Do not use this company under any circumstance. Budget an extra 50-60 dollars for a cab ride to/from O'hare or budget extra time to take the L. The extra 25-30 dollars you will spend will save you years of stress and anguish and keep you out of jail by making you not want to waste a bitch. read more

I had contacted Omega to transport me and my one year old son to the airport. We were 9 minutes late so they gave us a choice, pay double or leave us freezing on the side of the road at five o'clock in the morning. Their customer service is non-existant. The return pick-up and the customer service is why I strongly discourage anyone from using this service. Can u imagine flying back from London and to your surprise the airport shuttle doesn't show up?! Well that was me! I made a reservation with Omega for a 8:15 pick-up, which is really the regular shuttle time so it not like they were making a special trip to O'hare for me. I waited and waited until I finally started making other arrangements to get home at 8:30. First I called the shuttle service and nobody answered or called me back. Second I talked to the man at the info desk who told me that Omega was no longer making pick-ups for the evening. At this point, they are over 15 mins late, which to me sends a signal that they were not coming so I started to panic. I am low on cash so I decide to take the train to the city and then hop in a cab. I call Omega the following Monday to ask for a refund. Darlene tells me that they don't give refunds for any circumstance. What?! I asked to speak to someone in management. Linda gets on the phone and is very rude. She tells me if I have proof I can get a refund. I have phone records of when u called my BF and called the office (since she told me I never called). I drove to the office with my phone in hand. Linda doesn't want to talk saying she has a meeting so I ask to speak to the guy who says he is apart of management. She tells me I can't speak to anyone since I threaten her on the phone. Really? Since when is asking for a refund a threat? I proceed to talk to John Hall who is pretty calm. He tells me he has to think over the situation and for me to call back a few days later. Think what over? I call back and he tells me that I can't get a refund and that my only option is to use my unused return ticket on a future trip. So I can be left stranded again? This service is terrible. I called in the morning before my flight to make a reservation, and they said the fare would be $18. The website and phone rep that morning also indicated I'd be able to pay by credit card. When I got on the shuttle, I asked the driver whether he could run my card, and he said I'd have to "phone it in" using my own cell phone. Since I didn't have a phone, another passenger kindly let me use hers. I was put on hold, only to be told that the credit card system was down. I offered to get off the shuttle at that point (we had not yet left the airport terminal). Instead, the phone rep told me I could go into my house to get cash or a check when the shuttle dropped me off at my home. I told the driver my address, and he didn't say anything to me about my fare, or about a discrepancy with my reservation. However, when we got to my house, he told me the fare was $23. The phone rep claimed that the reservation had been made for a different address--which sounds nothing like my address--and this was why I'd been cited another fare. After paying the $23, I called the phone line again to complain. Not only did the phone rep continue to insist that despite the misrepresentation of the fare, I should pay for their error, but she had the nerve to say to me, "Ma'am, when you got on the shuttle, you didn't have the money to pay for it." I pointed out to her that this was because they had refused to take my credit card after assuring me I'd be able to use one. They said they will be there at 2:30, well 2:30 came and went and she called me at 3:00pm telling me that the shuttle still wasn't there. No stars! I have traveled a great deal and have never run into an experience like I had with Omega. As others have mentioned, it was a bit like jumping through hoops dealing with customer service. Was informed to wait outside by Rockfeller Chapel for a pick-up. No pick-up arrived and when I telephoned, of course, the office is closed on Saturdays and they offer a pager number, of which, no one responds. I almost missed my flight given taxi cabs must be called in Hyde Park. Also, left a civil message on their voicemail...and surprise, no return call. The worst! read more

I've had a horrendous experience with Omega Airport Shuttle. I made the drastic mistake of paying for a round-trip ticket on my credit card. The trip to the airport was not great, but they did get me there. It took two and one half hours to take me from the southside to O'Hare, because we had to make four additional stops after I was picked up. In addition we changed buses once, and drivers once. The driver also dropped off passengers to Midway Airport before the O'Hare passengers were dropped off. The nightmare came when it was time for me to return. I called the morning of my return to Chicago. I spoke to the "owner" and she confirmed that I would be picked up. Remember, I've already paid for the round-trip service. The "owner" told me what door to go to and to wait at least 45 minutes because sometime they might run late. When I arrived at O'Hare, I got my luggage and hurried to door 4 as instructed. I got there at 8:45 p.m. NO OMEGA BUS. I asked the gentleman inside at the desk if he had seen an Omega Bus that left and he stated he had not seen an Omega Bus all evening. I called the Omega office, but they had closed. I waited for a solid hour in freezing temperatures thinking they surely would not leave a customer stranded especially when they had paid up front. NO OMEGA BUS EVER SHOWED UP!! I had to pay for a cab home. To add insult to injury, when I called for a refund of the return portion of the fee, I couldn't believe how unprofessional and sleezy the women on the phone was. I have asked several time to speak with the "owner" but she will not return my calls and will not come to the phone. She told the rude women who answers the phone to tell me that the fee is non-refundable. However, when I made the reservation (and the "owner" is the one who suggested I pay round-trip) SHE NEVER MENTIONED MY FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE. AND THEY ARE THE ONE'S WHO DIDN'T PROVIDE THE SERVICE. On Feb 25, I needed to get from O'Hare to Midway to catch a connecting flight. My airline suggested I use Omega Airport Shuttle. I called Omega when I arrived at ORD and made a reservation. I went to the specified pickup spot (door #4 of the Bus Depot at ORD) at 5:20pm. The lady on the phone told me the bus would pickup at 530PM. I waited, along with two other passengers that needed to get to Midway. We waited, and waited, and waited, until 6:15pm. No bus. The Omega shuttle never showed up. Out of desperation the two other passengers and I shared a cab as we were now at risk of missing flights at MDW. While waiting we called Omega's office to find out what was going on. Their office closes at 5PM!! All we got was a recording that said to leave a message. So we could not get a human on the phone, and there was no bus in sight. I called Omega the next day to get a refund and find out what happened to our bus. They said they had a no refund policy. After much wrangling however we were able to get our money back, admitting the person that took our reservation never forwarded it on. Despite being told they have a scheduled service, they do not show up on a scheduled basis unless they have a reservation (which I had). One of the other passengers who was waiting with us the same evening was a flight crew member. He said Omega just took over some contract from another company, and they are completely overwhelmed so that might explain why they did not show up. read more

But when I called to reconfirm my drop off at the airport, Omega at first could not find my reservation and then turns out they had it for the wrong day. The employee on the phone could not get my flight time and pick up time straight and was quite rude (1 star). If you use Omega, be sure to confirm your reservation. read more

Phone reservation: Got oddly hostile when I said my address, then first said "no credit card" then when i pulled my reservation citing that reason "ok give me your credit card info".... I thought I could use this service to get from MDW - ORD weekly. I'm an airline pilot and purchased 10 tickets with their crew rate of $120.00. Today was my planned third time to use them. I called them 24 hours before to make a reservation. Hazel confirmed it. I was waiting outside the terminal at Omegas pickup for 27 mins past pickup time which was supposed to be 10am. At 10:28 am an Omega can pulled up. I kindly asked him why the van was late to ORD? He told me that he was the southside van and the ORD van wasn't going to come until 11am. I then told him I wanted to talk with someone. He told me to call the emergency line. I said no. He told me to get out of his face and shut the drivers door in my face and almost ran over me pulling out. While pulling out he told someone on the phone I was cursing at him. I never said one verbal expletive at all and he's the one who used the f-bomb. I'm not happy. They have my money. I was there when I was supposed to be and they didn't show up and almost ran me over with a load full of people in the back. They looked worried and nervous to say the least. I will recommend NEVER using these people. I will WALK before I ride with bunch of idiots!!! I'm in a cab and it's costing me $70.00 to get to work!!! This sucks and so does Omega!!!!!! read more

I didn't get to use this service because when I tried to reserve a space for a Sunday morning trip to O'Hare I found that they require advance telephone reservations but are only open business hours weekdays. Strangely enough they aren't set up for on-line reservations! Incredible. Since they seem to have a monopoly from South Side I have to take cab. read more

I stood outside door 4 at O'hare airport for an hour with my 3 kids in the cold and dark. (May 19, 2011) They never came. I had to pay $100 taxi to get us to Midway. Worst business ever, they need to go out of business, so a reliable shuttle service can take over. read more

I have taken this shuttle several times over the past few years. Their service seems to be extremely hit or miss. First, even though they claim to have regular schedules this is not how they operate. The most obvious reason you will want to avoid them is they are expensive. $20 to Midway, or $35 to ORD. These prices are only just a little shy of cabfare, and if you can share a ride you will do much better. They will not arrive at a scheduled stop unless you make a reservation in advance, including the airport stops. They will make several other disorganized stops along the way. The route to ORD is via Midway airport. This nonsense will easily add an extra hour onto your transit time. Their customer service is condescending and rude, for some reason they seem to think they're doing people a favor by offering what amounts to an extremely unreliable and slow taxi for a fantastic 20% savings. Do yourself a favor and don't allow these people to waste your time or add aggravation to your day. read more
