I love this place. The appointment-only approach coupled with a strict cancelation policy means things run on time. I never have to wait around when I have an appointment and I'm almost always out on time. Their color selection is incredible. The salon is hip, fun, and always feels slightly like you're walking into a really chill house party where everyone is relaxed and laid back and vaguely interconnected. If I could give less stars I would. Due to the supply and demand of Alaska, the owners/operators can charge as outrageously as they want and treat their customers however they want without a care in the world. People will still go back because there's nothing else out here. The owner is rude and snobby. I should have stopped her when I saw the state of her own nails, which were chipped and missing nails and clumpy with who knows what gunk. She rushed through the entire process, which is probably why my gel nails ( which she suggested I should get because they last longer ) came off after 9 days. I also paid even more for the gel nail polish, which she suggested because they'll stay polished and not dull. Although after a week, they did indeed dull and looked like any other polish. She also charged me an extra $10 for "length". They weren't even long, they were a very modest length. I've never heard of this before. Ever. They are over priced and not worth the negative experience or poor quality. read more

I am completely appalled with the service I received from OMG nails. Not only did my tips not even cover the entirety of my natural nail, there were air bubbles cropping up on the sides less than 4 hours later. I called Crystal and she did agree to work me in on a Sunday. She was adamant about the fact that they are usually closed on Sunday but she would come in just for me. When I got there, there were 3 other people working and each of them had customers. Crystal asked me if I had an appointment. I was surprised that she didn't recognize me because I had just been in a few days before and had spoken on the phone with her several times. I was also surprised that she didn't know who I was because she had told me that she was coming in solely for me (I have a text message to prove it) I said "I'm your 12:30" and she said "Oh, for a pedicure?" "ummm, no. For nails." Obviously, she wasn't closed and hadn't just come in there for me. She looked at my nails and told me that she could either rip them off here (I don't know why she didn't offer to take them off with acetone) or I could go home and rip them off myself. At that point, I decided that she was not going to touch my nails again. She refused to refund me and told me that one angry customer wasn't going to make a difference because she has a very large clientele. She said that if I was unhappy with the service I received, I could go somewhere else. I filed with the BBB and Crystal denied everything and said I was falsely accusing her. Now I see that Crystal has to call everyone "babe" to cover up the fact that she has terrible customer service skills and frequently overbooks herself to the point where she has to rush to finish. I will absolutely never EVER step foot in there again and I would advise you to take Crystal's own advice and go to a different salon. read more

I bought my daughters both manicures for a Christmas present. They decided to go to OMG Nails to get their manicures done. At first, they said, the owner, Crystal is super sweet calling everyone "hun and babe" making you feel right at home. They were over booked and my daughters were rushed through their appointment because a bigger party had reservations after them. My daughters both gave Crystal and Troy the benefit of the doubt, thinking that maybe they could work so fast because they were just so pro at what they were doing. That evening it was evident the nails were not put on correctly as they were bubbling up and had air pockets under the surface. My daughters called to see what OMG Nails could do to fix the problem. They seemed most accommodating, telling them to come in on Sunday (while they were closed) and they would fix it for them. My daughters went in today only to find out they were not closed at all. There were several people getting pedicures. They talked with the owner and she made it very clear that she would not give a refund and wasn't worried about an angry customer. She told them to come back at 10pm tonight if they wanted their nails fixed. My husband went in this afternoon to explain this was a Christmas present and that we were just hoping that they would do that right thing. She refused. It's a bummer when a business won't stand behind their work. read more

A lot of the reviews here are complaints on both the cancellation fee, and the pace of the services. I must say they are very quick, but are absolutely excellent at what they do. I don't see a need for them slowing down if they can get it done perfectly quickly! The cancellation fee is 30$ if you are late or cancel right before your apt and you cannot book again with them unless you pay it. They are a very successful and busy business. The cancellation fee makes sense, if they schedule you in for a certain time and you come late, they cannot take you late because it would push all of their appointments behind and that would not be fair for everyone else and really you kind of wasted their time because they could have taken someone else in their place (they are often booked for the day). Anyways, super nice family run business. The owner is funny and fast and I can see where people say she has her usual fave customers but she has excellent taste and her brothers and husband are all very funny and talented. If you are looking somewhere more slow paced and a more traditional vibe you may not find this to be your favorite place. However, I absolutely love this salon and will continue coming. read more

The salon itself seemed very nice but the minute Crystal sat down, she seemed like she was just there to do nails with no concern as to whether I actually liked them or not. She didn't talk to me but often participated in conversation with the girl next to me getting nails with Troy. I told her how excited I was to get my nails done for the first time in six months as a present to myself for passing my certification at work. "Mm hmm," was her only response. When it was time to pay I told her that both of my thumbnails looked almost cloudy due to all of the bubbles in the acrylic. I know that a few bubbles can be normal but this was way too much. She said "that's just how the product is with acrylic," and walked away. I was so shocked and offended, I didn't even tell her that the nail on my pointer finger on my right hand was totally bumpy. I've been getting my nails done for years and I've never been treated with so much contempt. I called later to tell them of my experience and explain that as a flight attendant, we get our nails done often and with lots of detail (once passed our certification) and I would not be returning nor recommending this place to anyone. The gentlemen sounded apologetic but didn't offer anything to make up for it. There goes $50 I'll never get back for basic acrylic with a snowflake. read more

This place was alright. Got the express pedicure. $5 extra for French tip which wasn't listed on their pricing but whatever. It came out mediocre. The thickness of the white tips was different on all of my toes. It was a younger guy doing them, I had have him fix it twice and it still came out funky. My toes/nails are pretty uniform in size compared to most so it shouldn't have been that difficult. I will try a different nail salon next time. Only went here because of the proximity to work. read more

Against my better judgment, I gave OMG a try for a manicure & pedicure. I left the salon with smudges & fuzzies on my manicure.-- 2 days later and my manicure is starting to chip around the edges. I have been going to OMG Nails for about a year now and I have never been disappointed. The people are always friendly, they always do an excellent job creating unique designs, and the pedicures are the best in the entire state. They are also have incredible prices for the amazing service you get. For instance, a pedicure at Allure Day Spa is $85, lasts about 30 minutes, and isn't really anything special. A pedicure at OMG Nails is only $35 lasts 60-90 minutes, and you'll leave feeling amazing and with feet that will feel and look good for weeks. My friend just hosted a baby shower there and the staff went above and beyond to help decorate, stay late to fit in everyone in our party, and make the experience fun and memorable. I read the other reviews and I'm guessing the people who left the bad reviews don't have much experience with nail salons or getting mani/pedi services regularly because I've never had a better pedicure than the ones I've gotten at OMG Nails. read more

I would like to start by saying I am astonished at the customer service provided to my wife today. Never have I seen a business that would ban someone from coming there for crying after she was quoted one price then told another in store. My wife was told that she made the employee uncomfortable because she was crying. It is unacceptable to quote someone one price then change it on her twice to a much larger price let alone make her feel like it is her fault for crying. It is a good thing I wasn't there to have words with you in person. Luckily there are outlets like this to let all potential customers know how you apparently treat customers. We are not rich people but are definitely not poor either...the principle of the matter is quoting more expensive prices in store when the person is there and feels like it is too late to turn away. I've been to this place as a loyal customer on a weekly basis for about a year. UNTIL... they had the nerve to charge me a $30 cancellation fee based on their mistake for having forgotten to do my pedicure that was on their books a week before, even though I had shown up to that appointment and done a manicure, and no one ever accommodated my pedicure during that appointment. Crystal was rude and ignored the fact that they themselves forgot about doing my pedicure, but was arrogant and stubborn enough to blame it on me, the customer, and then deleted all my future appointments in front of me. I was disgusted at being treated this way. Clearly they do not value your business, you are simply fast cash to them - forget treating a loyal client with courtesy and respect as this does not occur here. I have had a lot of pedicures throughout my life. Today I had about the WORST one ever at OMG. Not only was the pedicure bad (nails cut at different lengths, very little attention to rough heels, sloppy polish job) there are other reasons for my poor review rating. It started when I first arrived. The guy at the counter said there was no appointment scheduled for me when I gave him my name. I showed him my confirmation email on my phone. He asked me to have a seat. A couple of minutes later someone shouted "LOOK OUT!!!" And pointed way above my head behind me. Not knowing was I was being warned about, I covered my head and hoped for the best, heart pounding. I thought maybe the ceiling was caving in. It turned out to be a large picture that fell off the wall. Another thing I didn't like was that all the polishes are stored on the wall behind each pedicure station which means you can't select your polish in advance because you can't reach them. The music was really loud and people were very noisy, maybe trying to talk above the music. It had a very frenzied feel to the place...not at all relaxing. If you are very young, like loud music, don't care about a quality pedicure, and are OK with very impersonal service, this is the place for you! read more

Crystal, who later said that she was the owner, have the worst customer service ever which started at the beginning of my appointment. I called because not only would my nails not dry but 8/10 messed up. She not only refused to fix them but she wanted me to either pay 22.00 more for gel polish or pay for a polish change. Had a terrible experience here. A girlfriend and I, both from outside the Anchorage area, booked an appointment for express gel manicures and pedicures. The salon seemed overwhelmed and poor communication/attitude between staff members was noted immediately, something that should not happen in front of customers. My technician seemed flustered and rushed but was quiet pleasant. He did, however, mess up one of my big toes by not putting it under the UV lamp when he thought he had and smudged the whole nail, causing him to have to redo it and a noticeable line underneath the top two coats of polish. The middle finger of my right hand developed a bubble underneath the polish almost immediately upon leaving the salon causing the polish to peel back on itself and reveal a large hole in the polish 2 days later. My pinkey nail did the same thing within 4 days. My girlfriend received an infection on her big toe from her pedicure several hours later as well as bubbles developing underneath layers of nail polish causing the polish to peel off the nails within less than a week. I called with the news of the infection and the bubbles underneath the nails within 2 days of initial services. The woman working had me send photos of each grievance to her phone and I was assured I would be contacted again. When I had not been contacted again for over a week I called the salon and asked to speak with the manager, explaining my situation all over again, now a week and a half later, to the manager who gave the impression she had no idea a complaint had already been filed. The only compensation I was offered was a 50% discount on a future service or 2 free Basic Manicures, neither of which satisfy me as I explained multiple times that we are not from Anchorage and will not be driving 2 hours for nail services, especially sub-par nail services. This establishment does not uphold the reputation that they have been given. I was willing to overlook the debacles that happened during service if the end result was good. It was not. I have never had a gel manicure last less than a week. Nor have I had a salon have such disregard for the services, products, and over happiness of their customers. To say I will never go back here or recommend it to anyone are vast understatements. read more

This place is BY FAR the best salon I've ever been to. As a military wife, moving from the lower 48, I was terrified about having to switch salons from my go to person at our last base. It took me 4 salons before I found OMG and I'll never go anywhere else. I love that they talk to me, laugh, and it's not awkward. My nails have never lasted this long or looked so good. read more

Worst deluxe pedicure ever. The girl who did mine (she didn't have a name tag) began by using a drill file to remove the gel polish on my toenails. I found it odd since normally the correct way is to soak it off, but I figured maybe she was in a rush and wanted my friend and I to be on the same timeline. WRONG! She stuck my feet back in the water and walked away while my friend got her toenails shaped, filed, buffed, cuticles trimmed, and an oil put on them by her technician, Lan(?). Then she comes back and starts buffing my feet, so I'm thinking "ok, maybe she's going to do that later since I still have pieces of gel polish on my toenails." Nope, she proceeds to go through the pedicure process with little effort (she needs some serious help on her massage - I would have rather massaged my own legs and feet it was that bad). Then she's about to put the regular polish on when I point out she didn't remove all of the gel polish, so out comes the drill file again.... and she still didn't get it all off! I was pretty much fed up by that point and just let her paint over what she didn't get off (which took her forever and she did a horrible job - I had nail polish on the surrounding skin of my toenails and she put too much on two of my nails so it pooled into little bumps). Best part is, when I went to pay for my $50 pedicure that was worth maybe $20 at most (that's being generous), they tacked on an extra $8 for "gel soak off." I explained that I never got the gel soaked off and that the girl filed it off and still didn't remove it all. The response was "well we charge $8 for gel removal." So apparently it didn't matter. I paid the $58 and left without tipping. I will not be returning. read more

DON'T waste your time. Crystal, the owner, acts like a high school girl and only talks to people who are "her clients" and I heard she takes cash under the table from all of them. This place is known around Anchorage for treating their employees bad and having TERRIBLE customer service. (I guess that's what happens when you have a CATTY 20 year old owning a business) The different times I've been there, there's been a different young girl helping out each time... one did my pedicure one time who wasn't even certified as a tail tech! And she was just following the guy next to her who was doing my sisters. Thankfully they didn't let her paint my toenails. Come to find out, Crystal doesn't even PAY these young girls for WORKING! They're just like her little nail slaves. Did she forget we're in America? That was the last straw for me and I will never go to this place again. The only nice girl in there is Ashley who does amazing eyebrows but hopefully she will leave soon because this place is going downhill fast and honestly she's so sweet and deserves better. read more

I showed for my appointment and had to wait for 30 minutes just to be told that the quote I got over the phone was wrong and I would have to pay 3 times the amount. When I told them I could not do the price they surprised me with, two different girls tried to talk me out of what I asked for. When I would not go for it and asked to reschedule I was told I would have to pay a $30 fee before they would reschedule me. I showed up for my appointment, they screwed up by not telling there could be extra fees when I called to make the appointment. One very nasty girl told me it was my fault after all it is posted on the website, but I called, I did not go to the website! I didn't even know they had one at the time!! As good as they may be, they are very arrogant and treat their customers the dollar bills and not people. Finally they were drinking wine or champagne while working on other customers. Stay away from this place. There are other salons in anchorage that are just as good if not better!!!! read more

The employees here are absolutely fantastic- they have never been anything but courteous and accommodating, and have almost always been able to get me in for a same day appointment. Their ability to look at any Pinterest photo and make it happen is incredible, they always go above and beyond. Perhaps a little more expensive than some places but you absolutely get what you pay for. I would recommend them 100% to anyone who wants a great manicure with fabulous designs- Crystal especially. I moved to Anchorage from the lower 48 a month ago and had been looking for a nail place that did acrylics and I have found the place! I read through all the other reviews and in reply to the negative ones all I can say, and I too am a small business owner, would like to say that everyone has an off day. Owning a business especially as cutthroat as a nail salon is not easy. My experience at OMG Nails was amazing. I too had Crystal and her age should not define her. She is sweet and polite. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I never plan on returning here again. I went in for a waxing appointment and decided to stay and get my nails done. While, the waxing went well, the manicure was a disaster. The person doing my nails painted the wrong color. When I informed him of the error, he refused to change it stating that he had already paint one fingernail! I'm a regular at nail salons and no one has ever refused to redo a nail color because of one nail. To add to this terrible experience, I was charged the wrong amount. I was visiting the area and had already driven home by then. My house is 50 minutes away. I was called to return and pay the remaining balance. I know I didn't have to go back to pay for an error someone else made but I was nice enough to say that I would return the next day. The woman on the phone continued to ask me to give her a time even after I told her I would try to fit it into my schedule after work. I'm a very busy physician and my priority is my patient, not a nail salon. I still went back to an empty salon the next day to pay the difference for my overpriced manicure and told them about how I'm unhappy with my nail color. They asked me to schedule an appointment for another manicure at a later date for full price. I couldn't have gone to a worse nail salon. read more

Got my nails done here for an event I was going to the next day. I decided to stick with a regular manicure, since I can't really have acrylics or anything long or fancy for work. The girl who did my nails chomped on her gum loudly the entire time, which didn't bother me that much since I too enjoy gum, but still a little off putting since she was very close to me. I asked for a nude manicure with little black half moons at the base of the nail, in reference to a picture I had found. First of all, no base coat. Which I am not a fan of, as I find base coats to really help the longevity and prevent stains. Second, the color doesn't go all the way to the base of my nail. There is a good sliver of my natural nail on every single nail. The half moons are all slanted and at an angle, which is fairly annoying. The girl continuously was telling me that I should get a gel manicure and trying to convince me to upgrade, even after multiple declines. The shop itself is fairly small, but some of the decor and ammenities seem to be nice and modern. On the TV's they were showing their previous work in pictures, and I was so impressed! Most of the work I saw was done by "Troy", who is not the person doing my manicure. Overall, unless you were getting something done that was very off the wall or really intricate, I wouldn't recommend this salon for a manicure. read more
