meat not cooking - had been on grill for 15 min
    Isha A.

Heard mixed reviews of this place, so decided to check it out for myself. Small spot and gets really smokey inside, which is something I didn't love. The sauce/side selection is very minimal compared to other KBBQ spots I've been to. The meat itself was good, but we got a grill that wouldn't cook the meat and it was pretty frustrating. They told us that the grill was broken and the boss had to come fix it, but he wasn't there that day so not sure why they sat us there. Overall, have had better KBBQ and not worth it for the price.

Located near Symphony Hall, this AYCE Korean BBQ Grill offers an incredible lunch special for $22.99 (w/o tax/tip). (It offers 35 items and some items like galbi & ribeye is available for a higher price point.) You order via QR code so if you are not tech savvy this might not be the place for you. Drinks are an additional cost. Must orders: beef bulgogi, dumplings, pineapple, and japchae. Ironically, the crinkle cut french fries are surprisingly decent as it is freshly fried. There is a sauce/veggie station towards the back that you can make your own dipping sauces and make lettuce wraps. Service is prompt and friendly. They will change your grill plate if you ask. They also offer snacks in the front for waiting customers. Bathrooms are relatively clean and decent. You pay via tablet.

For a Sunday dinner, I decided to try Omi. Arriving at 8:30PM, I received seating for my party of 2 at 9. The price point is $39.99 / person for AYCE. Ordering is done through a QR code + chowbus integration. You can continuously add more stuff and send the request to the kitchen (with some basic rate limiting so you don't order the whole freezer). The system works decently well and makes ordering convenient over hailing a server the old-fashioned way or through the summon server button attached to the table. The meats selection itself has the usual fare, like bulgogi, galbi, beef tongue, and spicy pork belly. Absent are the more niche items like beef intestine or pork jowl. Sauces and side dishes are set up on a self-service counter, similar to the setups in hot pot. Banchan is passable (bean sprouts could use more salt and sesame oil and kimchi is more acerbic than flavorful). Ventilation systems work well. No campfire smoke billowing in your face. Overall, I'd say that Omi does a decent job of offering AYCE KBBQ. In a place with fiercer competition, I would rate this 3* due to some nitpicks. However, this is Boston, not in LA.

Omi Korean Grill is that spot. If you're craving a lively, all-you-can-eat KBBQ experience with quality cuts, fast service, and a fun atmosphere that doesn't feel rushed, this place delivers. From the moment we were seated, the staff was locked in. Our server was quick to take drink orders, changed grill plates without us having to ask, and kept everything moving at a comfortable pace. It made the whole experience feel smooth and well-run. The food orders were done on the phone after scanning the QR code at the table. The star of the show for me was the LA galbi...thick, tender, and marinated just right. The spicy pork bulgogi had a satisfying kick without overpowering the flavor, and the spicy beef bulgogi brought a bold, savory heat that kept me going back for more. You can tell they care about seasoning and quality here. Banchan and dipping sauces are available at the salad bar, which is a nice touch. Everything was fresh and well-stocked, and it gave us the flexibility to go back for what we liked most; no waiting around for refills. The best part? The place is smoke-free. You get the full grill experience without walking out smelling like smoke. Whether you're going with friends or on a casual date, Omi hits the sweet spot for great food, solid service, and a good time. Just come hungry, you'll want to make the most of every round!

This spot was just what we needed after a long day exploring Salem with the girls. We got seated right away, and ordering was easy through a QR code. My phone was dying, and they were kind enough to let me charge it. We tried nearly all the meats, and the spicy pork belly was our favorite. The scallion pancakes and kimchi soup were hearty and delicious, making for the perfect end to the day.

We literally couldn't find any restaurants that we wanted to go to during this night and omi Korean grill was a shining light of hope. Their food did just what it needed to do. I think it's likely not the best KBBQ ever but it does what it needs to do. If you have a group of friends that just wants to drink and eat as much meat as possible, you NEED to come here!

A great AYCE Korean BBQ place in Boston finally!! Service was overall great and while the meat selections are a bit more limiting compared to some places like Sura, for $39.99 per person, value wise I say it's very hard to beat! While the majority of the meats and side dishes we got were great, the marinated meats were a bit interesting as it tasted like they used a marinade that had a strong black bean flavor (like what you would find in Jajangmyeon) instead of a typically more soy based marinade. It wasn't bad per se but it was definitely unexpected. Overall the highlights for the side dishes was the Tofu stew and egg custard. Seafood scallion pancake was decent. The spicy rice cake was decent (the sauce was good though the rice cakes themselves were meh). The Takoyaki was nothing special. For the meats, we enjoyed the ribeye, thin sliced beef brisket and pork belly. The marinated beef short rib was okay but the marinade was a bit too different for our tastes. Also I'd skip the sausage unless you like plain hot dogs! Overall we were quite pleased with our meal. The ambiance was decent although it was pretty dang dark when we were eating (it was around 1pm!). I'm hoping they'll turn the lights up more next time.

As what I believe is the only AYCE KBBQ spot in Boston proper, I thought this spot was pretty solid. Right next to Northeastern and close to Suffolk/Wentworth, the vibe felt very young and modern. Ventilation was also a but questionable, but hopefully they'll smooth that out as I know it's a pretty new spot. We had a larger party and called ahead for our reservation so we got one of the rooms in the back. I honestly think this spot was only 4 stars due to how we had our own room - I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much if we were in the main area. Service was very solid. They were super attentive and came in at appropriate points for additional orders, water refills, and just delivering food in general as well as replacing grills. The meat was decent quality, nothing amazing, but for AYCE it was good. The sides were also nice - I enjoyed the pancakes and steamed egg soup. There was also ice cream at the end that they serve in small cups. Overall, we had a great experience and wouldn't mind coming back again. The food, service, and ambiance were very solid. Thanks, Omi!

I was excited that there is a new AYCE kbbq in town and went in with high expectations. I was disappointed unfortunately. The staff is friendly and service is fast. The grill is powerful but there is too little ventilation. The meat, however, is just mediocre. I understand this is AYCE but the servings are just too small. The marinated meat is also what you can get in asian grocery stores. We also had kimchi jjigae and steamed egg for appetizers and there were decent. I feel like the menu can be more extensive for AYCE menu and they only also had tiny ice cream for dessert. It might be also because it is fairly new but there was a wait for early Wednesday dinner. All in all, it wasn't that remarkable place for AYCE bbq. -4.5/10

Had to try Omi since it's the new ayce kbbq place in Boston, and we all know Boston does not have much ayce kbbq places. We made a reservation for 7 in advance. We sat in a booth specifically for 7 since there was a mall that protruded (which is fine) and we got side dishes and water. For food, we only got the beef and the pork belly's, and the appetizers. I will say that the beef itself was pretty good quality. The boneless short ribs and the brisket was good. They ran out of intestines so we didn't get to try that. The pork belly was also good. I wouldn't get the bulgogi as it didn't taste good and the texture was super off. For apps we got everything. The chicken wings and the spicy rice cakes were not what we expected, the gyoza, takoyaki, and shumai were solid (definitely bought frozen and fried), but the egg and the kimchi jigae were really good. The service was great, everyone was super attentive and helpful. With the amount of things we requested they were super nice. If you do get sat in a booth with two grills, i will say it is gonna be a pain to get the inside grill changed as people would have to move out of the booth so the server can go in and change it. Overall, it's a solid place to try once, and they are still super new. However, it didn't really feel like an ayce kbbq place to me. I would try this again if they added more stuff or maybe added like a DIY sauce/side dish bar. I will say again that the staff is super nice and attentive to our group.

I was pretty excited to try this place, as its probably the closest AYCE Korean BBQ near me. This place is conveniently located in the NU/Copley area, with plenty of street (meter) parking. It looks pretty roomy inside with wide tables and benches, and a tall ceiling. I'll get right to it. This place was hot (temperature wise). We went on Saturday at 6pm and it was mid 80's and muggy/humid out. This place either had no air conditioning on, or it just couldn't keep up. It's weird as every long while, I'd feel cool air coming on (relief!) but most of the time it was off. Coupled with the hot BBQ, it was too unbearable to eat comfortably. I paid over $300 (including $50+ tip) and it was the worse experience. I'm in my t-shirt with my sleeves rolled up because it was THAT hot in there. They did have several industrial drying fans blowing at full blast, but it did not help. If I had to do it all over again, I'd take my money to HMart and buy a bunch of meat and just cook it at home. The only dessert option is ice cream cups. As for the food experience, we were a party of 6. The first thing you get is the bachan (side dishes). You can tell these are premade and not tailored to the size of your group. It was barely enough for 1, let alone a party of 6. We did ask for more and they were happy to bring some. As for the meats, they come out quickly after you fill out the paper to indicate what you want. The portions are small, so ask for extras. Our favorite was the spicy octopus and thinly sliced beef. The meat was okay. There were several cuts or pieces of meat that we could not chew and had to spit out. The appetizer dishes we ordered were not that good (spicy rice cakes, chicken wings, siu mais, dumplings etc). The staff was quick to help you switch out the hot plates. Speaking of which, every table had just 1 single hot plate. Its pretty small for the size of the table. The people who sit in the middle of the table are regulated to handle it/cook/serve etc. I feel the table could easily accommodate 2 of them, or one larger grill. There is NO VENT! You will come out smelling like kBBQ for sure...don't wear anything you care about. This place gives you 3 set sauces (mala flakes, some type of oil, and ssamjang), either you like it or you don't...but thats it. There is no sauce station or anything like that. The staff were fine, they did their job of bringing out food. Thats about all. Price wise, each person is $39.99. Canned soda is $2.50 each. 6 people with 20% tip came out to $311.30. 2 of our party were teens who ate nothing. The adults were so uncomfortable by the lack of air conditioning that it was hard to eat our money's worth too. If you've read this far, take my advice: 1. Go to HMart and buy meat to cook yourself (you'll have money leftover, or just use the savings to buy an electric grill as well) 2. Just take your party to KTown BBQ (also AYCE) in Saugus on Rt1. Similar pricing, much better food quality and overall experience, free parking and some of the best service ever. BTW, you will *LOVE* their chicken wings there (a side dish).

Couldn't make reservation for 3, so we had to wait 40 mins even on a weekday dinner. Despite the crowd, they changed the plates pretty often which I appreciate and even helped us cooked the meat in the beginning. Waitress was also extremely nice. I think my experience here was better than the only other Kbbq spot in Boston. I would had like more selections, but I think the squid, octopus, pork belly, short ribs and ribeye were good and they gave us a good selection of sides. Their appetizers were pretty good for an AYCE. Egg was yummy but the bottom was burnt which was unfortunate. Takoyaki and tofu stew were my favorite. If you're driving, it's easier to find parking somewhere that's 8-10mins walk away.

We ordered the oysters (they've got a variety so you can choose), clam chowder, lobster roll, cioppino, and johnnycake. Oysters were fine, but the clam chowder was absolutely dismal. Not sure what happened, especially since it's so highly rated, but it was extremely watery and almost completely unseasoned. It could've definitely used salt at the very least. If I didn't know it was from Neptune, I'd have given it a 2/10. To my relief, the lobster roll was the total opposite. Succulent, juicy, heavenly. It was like being in Maine. The cioppino was also very good. The Johnnycake was an interesting but fun way to end the meal. It's a sweet pancake-like cornmeal covered in a syrupy glaze and topped with smoked bluefish paste, crème fraiche and caviar. I've never had anything like it. Nothing was super overpriced, but I personally prefer next door (Paulini's), which is much cheaper and while it isn't as good, it also doesn't require waiting in an hour in line. However, I think Neptune's is definitely worth a try as long as you're willing to wait in line.

This year, I finally made it -- and it absolutely did not disappoint. I had a phenomenal time trying their lobster roll. The lobster chunks inside were thick, juicy, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The butter was so good, and since the roll was served warm, it was honestly perfect for the chilly Boston weather that day. It warmed me right up. I will say, it is definitely a little pricey, especially coming from out of town where I'm not used to spending that kind of money on what is technically "just a sandwich," but honestly, it was 100% worth it. After one visit, it became very clear why this place has remained a waterfront institution since 1925. Don't let the long line scare you away -- that line is part of the proof that you are in the right place. James Hook has a classic no-frills New England seafood atmosphere focused on one thing above all else: exceptionally fresh lobster. There's plenty of outdoor seating available, and on a beautiful afternoon with temperatures in the low 80s, sitting outside under the umbrellas overlooking the city made for a perfect lunch setting. We split a large lobster roll since we had eaten a big breakfast earlier in the day, and it was more than enough for two people looking for a lighter meal. The lobster itself was incredibly fresh, sweet, tender, and generously portioned on a perfectly toasted split-top roll with drawn butter served on the side. Simple ingredients executed correctly -- exactly what a proper Boston lobster roll should be. We also tried the stuffed clam, which had a rich, savory stuffing with plenty of flavor and paired perfectly with a squeeze of fresh lemon. There's nothing overly polished or tourist-trapped about James Hook & Co. This is simply authentic Boston seafood done right. If you find yourself anywhere near the waterfront and want the real lobster roll experience, this place is absolutely worth the visit.

Row 34 in Seaport seriously blew me away. I've had oysters in a lot of places but this one is on…read moreanother level. We tried 4 different types and every single one tasted super fresh, clean, and just really high quality. You can tell they know what they're doing here, even the way they shuck it is nice and clean, no shell pieces or anything. Their menu actually has like 10+ kinds of oysters, highly selective and premium. I really wish we had more time (and stomach space) to try more. But we already had like 3 dinners planned that night lol so this was more like a "stop by and eat as much oysters as possible" situation. Honestly I'm pretty sure the other food here is just as good, based on what I saw on other tables. Definitely coming back next time I'm in Boston.

First time here. We got the lobster roll. And while, sure, the menu said the pricing was 'MP'…read more(meaning Market Price, or...based upon current market conditions)...and while, sure, we didn't ASK what the price would be, on that day, I still think it would have been nice if the waitstaff voluntarily offered up that detail. (I'm certain the staff are aware that many of their diners express shock, once the price is disclosed...) Many folks simply make an assumption or a guesstimate, as to the price, when they see 'MP' on a menu, and this is usually based upon their prior experiences, ordering such a menu item. So, for example, I was thinking the lobster roll might be in the $40-45 range. So imagine my utter shock, when we received the bill, to see a charge for $69?? I have never in my life had such an expensive lobster roll. Yes, it was delicious, and the housemade potato chips were also great. The slaw was also good (though it was a very tiny amount...I would have liked more). But boy, did that price shock me. I would normally never have voluntarily ordered a $69 lobster roll. It simply never would have occurred to me, that a place would ever charge that much....
