The best thing about this place is the location if you want to explore city center. I had higher expectations for my staycation. I planned to watch the fireworks from my room sadly to learn the show no longer takes place here. They do offer free parking in the garage and valet for $45. The check in area is small only 2 people and the pool was also a let down once 10 people are in there it seems crowded. I did like the room. It was clean the bed comfortable. The mini bar typical with high prices . Small bottle of whiskey for $75. Soda$4 I did appreciate the fridge in the room but it doesn't have a microwave. Also the ice machine rooms aren't labeled on each floor that would have helped me avoid going to the lobby bar for ice. Most things are on the 2nd floor. I'm not sure i would deem this a luxury hotel more a boutique hotel. They do have a messaging app but it takes a moment for a reply and no one answered when I tried to call the concierge. I did note in my booking I was celebrating something yet that wasn't taken into consideration during my stay. They do provide a $20 credit with your booking which is nice. I've stayed at this hotel about 5 times now. I stay because it's walkable to OrangeTheory and my work. This place continues to, unfortunately, be a disappointment. I think my biggest problem is the housekeeping. I've received stained towels multiple times. The towels are often frayed. The coffee pods are frequently replaced with the opposite of what you're drinking (drink caffeinated? Replace with decaf). Oddly enough this last one occurs consistently enough that I think it's intentional. There is grime in the shower. Elevators are slow. There is no status program, so frequent guests do not get upgrades (least of my concerns). Overall the level of service is just lacking compared to the price and other options. If you can? Nice by the looks but awful service. They never answer the desk phone (do they have one?). Comforter looks like it's growing mold. Servers were disrespectful at breakfast (but chorizo is pretty good). They do have a shuttle service which is nice but they hate to use it. They say they'll pick you up but they won't answer the phone. Here's a real convo I had. "Can you take us to church?" "How far is it" "2 miles" "Okay, let me grab something@ *walks away* As he drops us off "Can you pick us up in an hour? Ive read the previous reviews and that made me nervous to visit but I gave it a shot. First time visit and thought an updated review is very due since the renovation was completed a month ago. The Moran is a very fresh and modern hotel. At the moment it is impeccably clean, bright and inviting. The lobby lounge and bar is quite nice. The greeting by all staff encountered is very polite. Check in at the front desk is easy and quick. The hallways are well lit with colorful wall coverings. The room smelled brand new as if I was the first person staying In it. Bed is comfortable and the bedding very high quality. I slept very well the first night. The bath towels.. up there with four seasons or ritz Carlton. That stood out to me immediately. There is a well stocked refreshment cart in the room that I didn't use but had a lot to offer. Room service menu is limited but the redfish was better than Pappadeaux serves. Morning breakfast starts at 6 as this hotel seems to serve a lot of patrons visiting the energy corridor companies. I'd recommend the buffet choice over the menu items as it's a better value. TIP: park on the 3rd level in the garage next door for free and there is a short enclosed sky bridge that takes you right into the lobby. Very convenient. The Moran is new, fresh and inviting. Cancelled my reservation before i arrived- day of. I even called to confirm that we would be late due to flights. That did not help. When they rebooked me prices went up and they put a 400 additional al hold on my account in addition to taking my card for incidentals. What was i going to do at 1 am? The room is clean but worn. I love this hotel! Fantastic location, warm and friendly service from the nicest people--from the valet gentlemen to the servers and bartenders and receptionist--the interior is all new and the public spaces (lobby, bar, restaurants, and pool) are very attractively designed and inviting. There are many places to sit and visit, with nice views on to the surrounding shops and restaurants. And everything is so EASY--the skywalk to the parking garage, the proximity to food and shopping. If you forgot to bring something on your trip, no problem! Just walk out the hotel doors and go to Sephora, Anthropologie, etc. only steps away. There's even a Randall's grocery store and CVS, a Barnes and Noble and Athleta a 2-minute Uber ride or 10-minute walk away. The rooms are nicely furnished and comfortable. The bathroom lighting is flattering. The mini bar has good stuff! The bedding is perfect. And the price is very reasonable. Cannot recommend this hotel enough! read more

My husband and I booked a "suite" to bring in the new year (2025). We'd never been here before so I went to check the place out before making an official reservation and spoke with someone in their management team regarding details of the NY Eve event. All sounded good so we made the reservation. Checked in on NY Eve and when we got to our suite, found the room was not ready. Comforter was on the table, bed was a mess, bathroom was filthy, etc. The only plus was a great view. Went back downstairs to advise them of the room. They were very blasé about the whole thing and said they would put us in another room with no real sense of concern on their part. I did specifically request the same view. They assured me a great view with the new suite. Nope. This new one gave us a view of satellite dishes/ ac units on a roof. Couldn't even see the courtyard or anything else other than ac units. This room had the bed made but honestly was not clean. The floor on the bathroom didn't look mopped / the rug had hair and what looked like small paper / trash on it, and an almost empty roll of toilet paper on the dispenser, and no creamer for the coffee or complimentary bottles of water for the coffee machine- just the $8 bottle of Fiji water. Tried to make the best of it so we headed downstairs for the buffet included with our NY Eve package. Wrong again. The manager has previously told us the buffet would be available at 5 pm. When we went down they told us it wouldn't be available until 7. So, back upstairs to get ready for the event and then we could come back down for dinner. We came back down to head to the event which started at 8- we got there at 8:30 and there was nowhere to sit. Mind you, before I made the reservation I was assured plenty of seating would be available and since only 40 tickets were sold for this event should not be an issue. Wrong again. I had to go speak to a manager and they brought us some chairs which were placed randomly in an open spot on the floor with no table since they had no more tables available. I think they were not prepared for this event at all. It felt like they were just winging it. There was a lot of misinformation and the front desk management, although nice, was not trained well enough on how to properly handle issue resolutions. The restaurant staff was very nice and helpful when we went to eat and prompt at bringing us drinks and answering any questions we had. Other than that, can't say much else about this place. I had much higher expectations and for the price we paid for a "suite" I expected much better service and accommodations. read more

I was disappointed by the overall maintenance and appearance of the hotel, especially inside the rooms. It doesn't seem like a very thoughtful room design. There is no fan in the bathroom. There is no overhead lighting and there are not enough lamps to make enough light to see properly if the sun has gone down (even though there are 4!) One of the 4 lamps in the room was broken. I called maintenance about it and they said they would send someone up to fix it and that never happened over my four day stay. There are lots of scuff marks on the walls, paint dinged, or chipped, corners of trash cans are broken off, stains on the glass and frosted glass, chunks of plaster missing, just tons of little things like that around the hotel that make me wonder how they are able to charge such a premium. They should also be more upfront about the amenities they offer. I didn't find out that there is a complimentary breakfast in the restaurant until three days into my stay. It was not mentioned on the website or when I checked in. A bit frustrating. The best part of the stay was the bed, it was actually very comfortable and gave me a good night's sleep. The hotel staff are pretty hit and miss in terms of customer service. I had some very pleasant helpful people, some people that really seemed ambivalent about being there, and still others that were pretty rude. :( read more

Review: Terrible experience to the point my husband, daughter and I left before staying night to another hotel. Here is the sum of our stay: 1. Pool was disgusting with gray/brown water, and reeked of alcohol. Smelled like there was a massive pool party that no one cleaned up after, at 3 pm on a Sunday. 2. Were not enough pool towels at pool. 3. Key we brought to pool did not work and we could not get elevator to move while people were waiting and we were wet from having no towels. 4. Called for room service upon getting back to room and no one answered. Then tried again. And again. Then tried front desk. Then tried guest services. Then called front from cell phone and got front desk. They claimed they were checking in a big party and would go get someone from room service to call back. NO CALL BACK. 5. Complained to front after no callback and they offered to comp our dinner at yard house next door and said they would call them to have taken care of...end of meal and no one has called. NOTE: they did end up comping after an embarrassing setting with both restaurant manager and waitress, along with them and us calling to reach hotel front to get resolved. This was all while my 3 year old was tired and needed to leave the restaurant...which turned into a tantrum. 6. NEW key we got did not work when returning to hotel elevator 7. I failed to say they tried to double charge us for the $330 room when we already paid on bookings.com After this experience (and knowing we would spend yet another $39 + tip to overnight park), we packed and never stayed the night. The other hotel is far better and 1/3 of cost. Will see what if they are courteous enough to refund the room cost...doubting it. DO NOT RECOMMEND read more

I came here on 12/9/24 and I was truly appalled at how everything was out of order. The restroom in the lobby said "Sorry out of order" on the door, the seating in the lobby was blocked off for construction. One of the elevators was out of order as well. Stayed here the Saturday before Valentine's Day so it was quite busy at valet and check-in. I love that it is located right in the heart of City Centre. We only had a 5-7 minute walk to the restaurant for dinner. We booked a junior suite so it was tucked away at the very end of our floor, which was nice. The room was clean. Only small issue I had was the water in the shower took 10 minutes to finally get warm enough to be able to shower without freezing. Once it warmed up, it was great. We really enjoyed the Fireside Bar on the second floor. They had a live band. It was a nice, fun crowd. Check-out was quick and simple with friendly attendants and our car was ready at valet just minutes after we called. I'd stay again! read more

We had a GREAT stay at The Moran for our staycation celebrating my husbands birthday! Being locals with young kids, we really wanted to stay close enough to them but in a place with a great location. This spot is perfect!! This hotel is located in a very classy shopping and dining center that is well kept, beautiful and has great places to eat and shop! We loved being able to walk across the street to RA Sushi, Sweet Paris Crepes & The Capital Grill too (which is the best restaurant in Houston!!!) The hotel is very clean, trendy & fun for a romantic getaway. Our bed was very comfortable, loved the look of the rooms and lots of spots to take cool pictures. This hotel also has live music and a bar on the weekends! We will definitely come back. They also offer valet parking which was so convenient and the hotel staff were pleasant. A deluxe King room for $200 with tax was great! The only cons: no room service, restaurant is closed "due to covid" (major eye roll) and the pool area is very small. Thankfully since we had great meals at places you can walk across the street to, it was more than ok. I also didn't like how they weren't willing to do anything special in our room for my husbands birthday other than being a dessert up when their bar opened. It was a little rocky at first because we made the reservation through Priceline and the hotel would not work with us on reservation details. (We wanted to stay here for our wedding night). I wanted to make sure they didn't give the room away because we wouldn't be able to check in until almost midnight, and when I called they wouldn't even put the note on our reservation ! Most of the people at the reservation line were very rude and told me to call Priceline because they couldn't do anything. After calling around 5 separate times I finally got someone friendly and helpful at the front desk and she even gave us late checkout for free since it was our wedding night! We arrived and everything went smooth with check in (I was slightly worried) and they actually upgraded our room for free!!! The hotel is beautiful and very clean so I do recommend the hotel, just maybe don't book through Priceline and do it through the hotel directly. read more

The safe box in the room was not safe! It does not lock properly. On October 20, we put jewelry in the safe box and went out, leaving a note for cleaning. Delivery personnel!!!! Absolute horrible customer service at the front desk Tuesday night 11:45 PM. 07-13-2021. I'm a delivery driver that represents our customers. The customer requested me to bring his food to his door. The front desk girl was incredibly rude and unprofessional. She was a pissy little thing, probably cause she's underpaid maybe? Maybe she is having home problems and bringing them to work with her. Completely irrelevant to a customer. However, the customer I represent could not get his food delivered to his door because the front desk girl had a problem doing her job. She seemed upset because I bothered them at almost midnight. The Ritz Moran? This hotel is outstanding. We like Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons hotels...and we were totally at home here...so the Bad reviews MUST BE Old as this hotel is shiny bright clean and new!! Like sparking new. And the price point is fair and below what you'd normally pay for this level of luxury...we usually pay 2, 3 even 4 times this amount for hotels like this. Our family had two adjoining rooms. A junior suite and a king corner suite. Valet parking was so accommodating and fairly priced for overnight ....Check in and checkout was seamless the rooms were spotless and clean...big soft towels, great shower pressure...bedding was luxury level as well....all amenities furniture and bar cart in room were all on point......everything smelled great. Bright clean modern rooms. My wife and daughter loved it as well. They are the ultimate deciders of it's nice enough and they kept on complementing the cleanliness and the pleasant smell of common areas. City center is a perfect area to dine shop and don't miss the cinema and dine experience. We WILL visit again. This is a value priced hotel with luxury level feel vibe and experience. read more

A modern looking hotel located in the center of a ton of things to do, Moran Citycentre is a solid choice. I'm a sucker for free parking, and here we have it. The check-in is easy, and the only real pain we experience were finicky elevators that you have to scan your room key each time to go up and down. Even if you don't have a car to use the parking, there are tons of great food and entertainment choices all around. The on site restaurant for breakfast was solid as well. Overall, you felt it was far enough removed from the craziness of downtown, but not too far that you couldn't drive right in when you wanted. The customer service for this hotel was 5 stars. The host and hostess were all helpful, kind, and all around great. The hotel lobby and hallway are fancier than the rooms. The rooms just fell short of what the outside exudes. We stayed in a double room which was very spacious. But, the room was outdated. The walls of the hotel are very thin. (We heard the other couple really enjoying themselves during their stay). Thankfully, we weren't in the room much during the day. This hotel has a pocket door for the bathroom, which doesn't do much for privacy in the restroom. They include bottles of water in your fee, so you can go to the front desk and ask for water anytime. The pool was nice, but A LOT smaller than the photos I've seen online. It was cute decor for the pool. It's by many shops and some food. I dont think I'll stay here again. It's kinda far from the airport, and it can use an upgrade. read more

I will say this is not the worst hotel I have stayed at in my life, but I will not return. While at quick glance the room looked "ok" when first walking in, I quickly noticed all the white stains on the couch (so not touching that), the bed frame stuck out around the mattress a good six inches (whacked a shin a couple of times), the shower dripped constantly, hot water was almost impossible to get in the room (had to figure out the right combination of running the shower and sink to get warm water) and the complementary breakfast was sad. The only good thing about the hotel is the ability to walk to a wide selection of restaurants. Overall, very over-priced for the quality. Save some cash and stay elsewhere! read more

My family has been staying at this hotel for years and it has always been our go to spot when visiting Houston. Unfortunately, now that it has changed ownership, the quality has sadly gone downhill. The once beautiful furniture in the lobby has pieces that are ripped and in need of new upholstery, the carpet in our room was heavily stained, there were Tylenol pills dumped all over the floor outside of the elevator and the management allowed people to walk around the lobby in thong underwear and see-thru attire. Looks like we will be finding a new hotel for the future, which is sad because we really have enjoyed staying here in the past. read more
