When I first made the decision to hire a professional organizer I reached out to the Organizer Guys. Steven wasn't able to take my job but referred me to Joy Perkins from Omnibus Organizing and I'm so glad he did! From our first interaction Joy was responsive and able to accommodate my hectic schedule. During our initial consultation I knew right away Joy was a person I wanted to work with. A former school teacher, Joy has the perfect mix of patience, cheerfulness and "let's get to it" attitude that put me at ease. If she has judgements, she keeps them to herself and makes the whole process feel fun. My project was a second bedroom that had turned into a bit of a junk closet and was no longer really usable on account of all the stuff I'd haphazardly thrown in there. Joy actively listened as I explained my work/life and hopes I had for my stuff and the room. Following the initial consultation she told me it would take a full day and that she'd bring two other helpers. By the end of that day I'd have my room back. I got that and a lot more. On the day of, my three organizing angels turned up with clear boxes, garbage bags and all the necessary supplies for serious organization. They set up a folding table in my living room and hauled everything out of the second bedroom. During this time I was not needed at all. That's one of the things I really loved about working with Joy: I could do my own work whilst she and her team set about to organizing and they'd simply call me in when they needed my input. I'd taken the day off thinking I would need to be much more of an active participant and since that wasn't the case, I had plenty of time to do laundry and take care of other household chores. The organizers finished the second bedroom faster than expected and moved on to organize my bathroom, pantry and bedroom closet. When there was still a little more time left they worked on a small part of the living room too. By the time they departed, I had a nearly empty second bedroom with a super organized closet finely tuned for my extensive travel and pernicious packing. Not to mention a better bathroom set up and a really good looking pantry that finally made sense. I also rediscovered many things that had been "hiding" in amongst my disorganization! It felt like Christmas at least three times that day. My household, as a result, is much more harmonious. My experience with Joy was fantastic. From my first phone call to my final goodbye, it was fantastic working with her. I was moving from one home to another, from San Carlos to Sunnyvale, with two very small children. The idea of unpacking anything was overwhelming so I decided to talk to some organizers. I spoke to multiple people and Joy stood out because I could tell that she was clearly listening and I felt like she genuinely wanted to help me. I hired her to unpack and organize everything! She unpacked and organized an entire 3B2B townhouse. And she did it in 36 hours. Movers came on a Monday morning and she met them at the house when they arrived. At 5:30pm on Tuesday, she and her team left me with a fully unpacked house. I couldn't believe it. Not only was I fully unpacked, every room is organized. I have never had such a functional kitchen or closets. The kitchen is fantastic but my favorite thing is actually my walk in. About a week before our move, my husband's dresser broke. We said we would replace it after the move and told Joy as much. Her team negated the need for it! They rearranged my dresser by giving him a drawer, and otherwise set up the walk in closet so that everything was in there. The closet is amazing and our bedroom is now one of an adult! It's amazing. A few years ago, I had a relative pass away. As the trustee, I had to organize, manage, and distribute an estate. Organization has never been my strong suit, but adding on this new job was stretching my minimal processes to their breaking points. Luckily I researched and found Joy. I am a small business owner who continually invests in my business in the form of gear, products, buying guides etc. Getting 'Joy Perkins' as a consultant for my office space has been one of the best investments ever! Joy, Denise, and Mike were magicians. Moving into a new apartment the same size as our old one, when the first apartment was crammed full of items was terrifying. For years, the bane of my existence was husband's closet, which is inconveniently located in my home office. Don't get me wrong - it was his too. Far too small to hold what seemed to be far too many clothes and shoes to equal what he actually wore, it also became a hidden storage area for whatever we didn't have place to store elsewhere, including assorted workout gear, luggage, a couple of saxophones and an old sleeping bag. Over time, contents that couldn't be crammed back in took on a life of their own and started invading my workspace. Despite our heroic attempts to create order from chaos, whatever semblance of order we did achieve was short-lived. Clearly, we needed professional help, but I admit I was rather embarrassed. I mean, after all, it's just a closet. We've successfully tackled so many things in our lives of such greater proportions that it seemed ridiculous to think that two grown adults couldn't handle so tiny a task, right? Enter Joy Perkins. She was an absolute wonder. In three hours, we gutted closet, allocated clothing to piles arranged by condition, rehung 'keepers' by rod, color-coding contents to make selection easy. We boxed up and labeled shoes, placed on now-empty shelves and taught us so many little 'tricks of the trade' to insure everything remains easy to maintain. We were so jazzed by the result, that we took her advice and hung an additional rack, installed lights and purchased those wonderful non-slip hangers too. The icing on the cake is that her name well suits her: she is an absolute 'joy' to work with, and has the patience of a saint. We were referred to Joy last year when we had the daunting task of cleaning out my deceased parents' 5 bedroom "hoarder" house. We had planned for an estate sale but how to get through 45 years of "never throw away anything" folks to be ready for the sale was daunting. Truly as good as it gets. I worked with Joy when I was moving. She and her team helped me unpack and put away stuff. Some moving companies will include unpacking services, but in my experience it is not worth it. You end up with stuff just laid out all over every surface and empty boxes, a huge mess! We discussed things to handle prior to the move, during our move and even tips to maintain the organization we put into place after. It was worth every penny we paid. I HIGHLY recommend this service! I admit that I felt a bit frivolous when I initially contacted Omnibus because I thought I should be able to organize my own house, but after having spent the money, I couldn't be happier!!! There is NO WAY I could have made such an impact in such a short time, and, since Joy was able to step back and make a plan, I now have some crucial systems in place that I wouldn't have thought of on my own. In just one day, we got through every room in my house except the kitchen (this means we emptied everything out, donated a bunch, and put the keepers back), designed a filing system and a system for organizing bills, and redesigned and set up my bedroom closet so it's actually functional. Everything now has a place because there's actually room to put things. I can't tell you what a relief it is to have an organized home. If you have a room, a garage, or a house that feels so full that nothing has any room to be put away and you need some systems and help to tackle the mess, CALL OMNIBUS! I was referred to Joy by my previous professional organizer who moved out of the country. Joy and her team exceeded my expectations. At our first (complimentary) visit, we went from room to room discussing what my issues were and what I wanted to accomplish. Joy calculated approximately how many hours and how many team members she would need & gave me an idea of the cost in advance. Two days later she and 2 team members arrived and we organized and purged!!! Heidi and Sara worked with my 2 teenage daughters and Joy worked with me. The amount we got done in a short amount of time was amazing. The bags and bags of donations were loaded in their car and taken directly to be donated (and she takes shredding too!). And for the many extra bags of trash, I just called ahead and scheduled a "free curb side clean up" (we get 2 per year with our trash company) so everything was out of sight and gone, and I didn't have to do a thing! BEST. DAY. EVER. Joy is sooo great to work with - fun, efficient and knows her clientele! And Heidi and Sara worked wonderfully with my daughters.
