This is the most disheartening review I have ever written. I've had good success with this On Demand producing large-size prints for me and the results were very good and very reasonably priced. With this, I decided to give On Demand the opportunity to do a small-scale run on an automotive calendar I had produced as a promotion for a magazine I produce. The first attempt in January was not satisfactory, the color balance was way off and there was a lack of contrast in the dark areas. I reviewed the proof with the owner and he agreed that the printed output clearly didn't match the file on-screen (we put the proof calendar next to his printer's screen and the color was clearly off). He told me he wanted to print it again, but was getting a new printer. I said OK. But his new printer didn't arrive until three weeks later. He finally printed the calendar the first week in February after the new printer arrived and again the colors didn't match. So I replaced the all interior files, tweaking them so that for the most part the yellow cast was reduced to an acceptable level. The adjustment for contrast was acceptable but resulted in the color being washed out for the cover file. I didn't accept the first 30 calendars and submitted a new cover file, which he printed out and I approved, to be used in conjunction with the existing interior file. The calendars were printed a second time with my expectation being that he would substitute the new cover file. He didn't, presenting me a second set of 30 calendars with the exact same cover. He clearly didn't substitute the replacement cover file (one of seven separate files he had for this project). I returned today to try to resolve the problem. I was going to suggest that he just print 30 new covers and I would remove the covers, replace them, and re-staple the calendar with the replacement cover so he wouldn't get stuck with the second set of calendars. It didn't get that far, with the owner telling me that he was done with the project. I left but quickly returned as I really wanted to resolve the problem as with the time it took to print the calendars put me a month behind and I have orders to fill. He did the "I don't want to talk about it dude" routine and told me to "go to Staples." I tried to point out to him that he agreed the printing was not up to standard. And then he asked me "why didn't I send him all seven files together?" I asked, why didn't he request that Saturday morning when we agreed that he needed to print the new cover with the color- and contrast adjusted interior file? Then it got ugly where he verbally threatened me (said he would kick my a** if I didn't leave) while telling me to "go to Staples." Wanted to avoid any further confrontation, and knowing that the owner has a history of heart troubles, I left. Now I am a full month behind on this project. I know that I can be difficult because I expect people to do a professional and competent job where we both agreed that there was a clear mismatch between the files I provided and the printed output. This was anything but. And having given On Demand two opportunities to print the project, and willing to give On Demand a third chance (including to just print new covers and I would reassemble with the already printed calendars), and him refusing, I am left but no alternative to leave this extremely negative review before trying to find a local printer to try to salvage this project. If you need anything more than copies, I can not recommend using On Demand for your printing needs. read more
