I have only been here once, but I had an amazing experience. I have never been to a shooting range before, but I have wanted to go for over 10 years. I shot a 9mm Glock, and went with a friend who taught me everything I needed to know. For two, the gun rental, eyes and ears for both, 3 targets and 50 rounds, the total came to $56. We showed up on a Saturday around 10:20am, and they opened at 10:00am. I think we waited about 20 minutes, which wasnt bad. I've been to many public ranges around the country and this facility is perhaps dated but totally adequate for most people's needs. It can be busy, especially on the weekends. I have read many negative comments and have never experienced anything but positive and proficient staff. I've brought several family members and friends and all have had good experiences and smooth check in. The prices are comparable to other ranges in the area and I really like that they provide lowered rates for law enforcement personnel! This is my go-to range and I will continue to go back and bring friends! read more

If you're doing an off roster handgun PPT, go somewhere else. I really hate leaving bad reviews for businesses but my second visit went even worse than my first. I guys name is James. Walked in with the seller, gave our ID's, my FSC and other forms of verification. Right away he's asking which one of us a cop since the handgun is off-roster, in a upset manner almost. Defiantly had a bad attitude from the start. After I give him my Utility bill, he states he can't accept it because the city and zip don't match on my ID even tho it's the same and show him with another document to prove so. Hand him my CAC and he pretty much threw it back at me because it was set to expire 1 day before the DROS pick up time, which I understood, but you shouldn't just chuck shit at people but then again maybe I thought I was being sensitive and brushed it off. Filled and signed DROS paperwork and left. Come my pick up date, he asks what I'm here for and I state to for firearm pickup and he gets to the back & decides to call the DOJ because I had a past due balance on my utility bill? He said he couldn't accept the paper I initially started my DROS with and I had to show my hunting license or car registration. I show him another DROS copy from another FFL dealer where I had just purchased a p226 MK25 with the same document in the same month and he didn't care. Since when does a FFL care if someone has a past due notice lol? If he's so concerned maybe I should've asked him to pay my bill, just kidding, that was already resolved but I didn't have updated bill yet from my utility company. And to top it off he was a complete dick about it also and stated because he may get audited in a couple months and have to pay a fine, so pretty much he was worried about himself and said fuck the client. He should've stated his concerns prior to me starting the DROS and I would've gladly gone else where. State law states it can't state your utilities are being canceled or have a cancellation notice on your utility bill nothing in regards to a past due notice that would disqualify you from purchasing / picking up a firearm. Point is this guy, James, made it extremely difficult and added a negative point of view from somebody who could've been a life long client. He got the DOJ Firearm Department twice on the line after he knew there wasn't a hold or denial on my background. Other staff seem very nice and didn't have any other issues besides that jackass. I was going to sign up for a membership but I'll take my business elsewhere. Will not be recommending any friends or family members here and I have two more PPT's I'm doing this week. read more

Good customer service, fair price, excellent rental selection, and that's where it ends. The range was hot and I mean in temperature. In most indoor ranges, I wear a jacket because it's usually freezing. Secondly, it's a tight fit and feels like you are almost sharing stalls. You can see the muzzle flash from everyone in your peripheral. The floor is littered with casings that nobody has the etiquette to sweep after themselves. A lot of inexperienced shooters as well teaching JR the same bad shooting habits while handing them their .45 or .50. The worst part was how the ceiling looked like the car at the end of Bonnie & Clyde, riddled with holes. I was a new shooter once but never have I done that. That alone is the reason "I'm out" and won't be coming back. read more

They should definitely hire employees who actually know how to talk to paying customers. A simple phone call and question of how busy are you and do you have any open lanes? The answer "I can't tell you, I'm at my desk" followed by a prompt hang up before I could even get another word in. read more

I do not recommend coming here unless for the absolute necessity of training or practicing and even then, you're probably better off going somewhere else. I'll tell you some horror stories of this place and the positives and you can decide from there if it's worth it. To start the range is a very simple indoor range with okay to slightly higher than average prices. The condition of the range is clean minus some bullet holes where there shouldn't be any. That leads me to one of the largest downsides of this place and its handling of new shooters. Commonly found wearing the range given green ear protection these new shooters dangerously handle fire arms after a very brief and somewhat confusing introduction given by an employee. I wouldn't be surprised if I was shot by one of these green ear protection wearers. Made worse by the fact the range gives out too many warnings for rule breaking when in reality it should be a zero strike system. My advice to the owner would be either a requirement of a short class or maybe limit new shooters to a .22 if they don't have their own gun. Seeing small children with glocks might inspire your inner George Washington but it should also stoke some fear in you when the recoil flicks the gun in your general direction. To the next portion it'll be what I can only describe as weird employees. Don't get me wrong some people here are actually really nice and informative and will give you the experience you expect from a worker handling guns. The majority of them are quiet and quick to be rude or unpleasant. An example that other reviewers here have pointed out is waiting in line you might feel inclined to go to the counter once it's available but the reaction of "I didn't call you up" or something of the like is very common. These same people don't call you up and expect you to know to come to the front. It's hard to describe the weirdness and unpleasantness from them but I could best say they all expect you to know everything and treat you like you know nothing. Makes the whole experience outside of shooting very uncomfortable. Like I said I wouldn't recommend coming here but I guess it is a place where you can legally shoot and that's something. Update to this review: Bumped it up to three stars as much of this review has to do with the dangers of new shooters and their handling of them which can easily be remedied as they already have monitoring in place to supervise such a thing. read more

-anti 2nd store- I checked yelp & it said they're open till 8, I get there 5 mins before 7 and the Indian looking girl tells me good thing you made it right in time because we were going to close early today! WTH? I tell her I have a pickup so she asks for my paperwork and tells me I have a late payment to my cable company bill and that's why she can't accept it as a 2nd form of id. Is this a gun store or a cable company? I told her that my bill is still new so what I owe them money from last month? (my finances are not your business) I drove 2 hours in traffic to pick up my gun. She said no impossible she won't do it. So I left n went to the DOJ site n read nothing about any late payments as long as the bill is no old than 3 months. I called back some dude picked up and told me how the doj and other gun shops have it wrong that they're right to not accept it regardless of what anyone says n thats their policy like it or not. Since then I went to other gun shops since then and not 1 person made a peep about the late payment. When gun stores stop citizens from obtaining their firearms like this then they are definitely tyrant lovers. They have a big sign that says recall Gavin Newsom yet Gavin would give them a standing ovation for their infringement on my second amendment right. This is the least pro 2nd amendment shop I've ever been to. I read an article today about this store on FPC Facebook and it was mentioning how new gun buyers gave them bad yelp reviews because they hate the liberal gun laws but blame them. I'm not one of those people this was not my first firearm and I never complain about the law, I just follow it but this wasn't the law this was your stupid careless policy. I had to make two 2 hour trips to suite your needs. Anyways I hope this place cleans up its act. read more

I was probably the first customer of the original owner who built this Range in 1992 (3..?) I was a yearly member for decades; brought up my 5 kids and eventually 2 more grandkids with our weekly excursions to On Target. It was like a second home, my daughter became such a good shooter a gun magazine did an article on her. As a family we were shooting about 600 rounds a week. We had a Dillon 1050 in our 3 car garage and we reloaded for our shooting habit. Gregg took ownership, nice guy. I knew his brother who apparently moved to Texas. I am a long time member of Cal Guns with 12,000 posts, I have a carry permit and 55 years as a professional pilot has left me with a bit of hearing loss. So life happens and Covid is a thing so my shooting date with my youngest daughter didn't go as planned. We hadn't been shooting in a long time and I had just bought a 1301 tactical and she was bringing her Glock 17. (She's 24)...we show up and fill out the IPad forms (easy peasy) and go to the rental counter. Hand over our CDLs and while they inspect my ammo to make sure it's only slugs (which it was) the guy is explaining something about a red square and be sure and run the targets out to 25 yards...bla, bla,....I've got my earmuffs on and apparently I wasn't paying attention about this Red Square but hey...I've been coming here for 30 years and probably 700 times. We buy 3 targets and move thru the double doors. I set my shotgun case on the shelf unit like I always did and move it to the black stand up table and the Counter guy barges into the area and says....."YOU'RE DONE...!!!!" My daughter (who hadn't even unpacked her Glock yet) said "what's the problem sir...?" He said the case should be on the concrete floor in the faded red painted square and I should lift the empty shotgun from the floor to the firing table. I said, ok, that makes sense....so sorry. (New rule but yeah good idea) too bad i didn't pick that up or otherwise I would have done it that way. But he kicked us both out of On Target anyway. .we feel a WARNING would have been the better route instead of burning a customer bridge. read more

If you value your time, this may not be the best place to transfer or purchase a firearm. A simple pickup after eligibility can take over an hour and a half. That's with zero other customers, no lines, and three employees complaining to each other, how none of the others have done their jobs right. The gentlemen in question certainly embodied the philosophy that, "slow is smooth"; but seemed to have forgotten the "and smooth is fast" part of the axiom. I will say, they displayed competency; but I wish they respected other people's time a little bit more. I would give them my business again; but I would certainly plan on spending significantly more time than most other FFLs I have ever been to. read more

been going here for decades-ya they are VERY strict with their procedures and safety regulations but that is a must as the Calif. DOJ loves to shut FFL's down (not to mention the ATF) for the most rediculous and minor paperwork reasons-so they have to be somewhat 'anal' sadly its a sign of the times. I notice someone was ticked because they wouldn't transfer without a magazine-that is a new calif. law! you have to transfer with a 10 round or less mag on any firearm. Dont bust Targets chops for the idiocy of our politicians. Good place highly recommended. Let's hope they stay around because any firearm business trying to stay alive in this political atmosphere has to have brass balls to stay afloat. read more

It's an indoor shooting range, the staff knows their stuff. How well do they know their stuff? One time I got my mags mixed up (all glock) and shoved a mag of 9mm into a 45 (yes it fits) and fired one round, I was confused because it felt all wrong but it hadn't clicked for me just yet. A staffer was right beside me sweeping shells and goes "you just shot 9mm in a 45 didn't you?" I pulled out the mag and god dammit he was right! Just by the sound the man knew exactly what had happened and stopped me from damaging the barrel by shooting another round. read more

This range has the worst employees working here. Seriously who hires young kids who don't know much about guns or real gun safety and let's them watch over a bunch of people shooting guns in close proximity? On Target does that's who. I brought my yeti water bottle into the range since apparently they can't afford to keep the range as cool as where the children work so I could stay hydrated. I get a Nasty loudspeaker notice that I am not allowed to eat or drink in range. Eating I totally get who would eat there? But taking a sip of water to cool down WTF? Also banging on window to let you know you are doing something you are not supposed to really helps especially when you can't hear what they are saying. Save your money find another range this one is not good. read more

Over the years, there have been one or two decent employees, but for the most part the employees are a disaster. The perfect combination of hubris and ignorance. Most seem like they never held a gun until yesterday. The guy who calls himself the "manager" is among the worst. He has no clue what he's doing and acts like he's curing cancer. I made my first visit this past weekend to introduce my 17 year old nephew to the wonderful world of shooting! I arrived at ~8:30pm. The front staff were very helpful and friendly. The rangemasters were also very helpful, and made sure to come to our lane to make sure we were being safe. I was out of practice and allowed my nephew to make a cardinal barrel discipline mistake, and one of the rangemasters corrected him before any real problems were created. The 2 pieces we used (glock 17 and springfield 1911 9mm) were beautiful. Everything else went smoothly and we both had a blast. I can't wait to come back! The waiver form for minors is a piece of cake and you can complete and submit it via their website. read more

I wanted to learn more about gun safety and ammunition. This world is so crazy. I don't understand most of the stuff that was told to me it was so confusing. I want to be informed not being educated properly is a disability. I was referred to On Target indoor shooting. I called them looking for help and everybody was really nice and they me told to come down. They said they would guide me through some basic information. I wanted to shoot a 22 James the manager and Josh the teacher made sure I was safe. I felt comfortable enough to try. Other people brought in large crazy gun. Loud doesn't even explain how load it was. I feel back I need a lot more education. I truly will be signing up for lessons to feel well informed. I personally would like to thank James & Josh. Just took my fiancé to shoot for the first time. I'm retired law enforcement. The desk person was absolutely no help. He didn't offer ears or eyes, he could clearly see we didn't have them. We told him my fiancé had never shot so he thought it a good idea to place us in lane 17. We soon found out that 16-20 is for high power weapons and so of course my fiancé jumped at every round. She didn't shoot one round. What a huge disappointment. When we came out a few minutes later and discussed the unpleasantness the heavy fella said there were .357 and .44 magnum rounds right next to us. So he thought putting us next to that was a good idea. He certainly knows better and chose to torture my fiancé and then didn't offer to move us further away. How can this guy work here? Or better yet why would they continue to employ him. They will never get another dollar from me and especially not another $40 for ten minutes. When I mentioned I was retired law enforcement he was rude and disrespectful. I haven't shot here in 10 years. I will never come back. read more

I've grown up around guns my entire life but this was my first time at on target. We came Saturday morning around 10am when they opened. The dude at the front who helped us was so nice - in fact everyone we encountered was really friendly and helpful. We didn't need to rent any guns but we did purchase some ammo and targets. I loved how they have eye protection that fits over glasses for those of us who wear glasses to see! There were 4 of us so 2 of us sat at the bench and switched when it was our turn to shoot. We stayed about 2 hours and spent $104. I had a nice time and am interested in the women only classes! read more

Been a member here for a while. Not to have my rear end kissed but to use the facility and improve my skills. Location is convenient and while the staff is very one note it doesn't matter to me because I'm not a left winged whiner. Took the intro hand gun course a ways back which was useful for sure and I plan to take the ccw class at some point as well. I come in here once a week or every other at most and walk right in, hand over my member card, get my lane and I'll shooting in a matter of six minutes. No screwing around all day like ft3. I'd highly recommend this place for people who like no BS. read more

Great place; great staff; great indoor range; did I mention that the staff are all outstanding? I am a regular here for many, many years. Never been treated with anything but respect. Never had a negative experience. Kind, polite, hard working and knowledgeable staff, many of whom have assisted me, educated me, and have gone above and beyond relative to purchases, repairs, range assistance, etc. etc. etc. Unlike many ranges, there is no attitude or arrogance or condescension front the staff. Ive never seen any guest treated poorly - and, I have seen much patience exhibited by the staff. I always figure that the peeps that whine about this place and leave the crummy reviews probably just have miserable little lives and/or they want to pretend that they are gun aficionados and/or they can't afford to be here. Maybe they should stick to playing video games at home, dress up in faux combat garb, and pretend to be tough guys? If you have a bucket list, I'm sure shooting a gun is on the list. You should know, On Target will let you rent a handgun. My girlfriend and I rented a super cool revolver (which we preferred because the hot shells don't shoot out all over the place). I had to show the clerk that I knew how to safely load and unload the gun and read through the safety rules before he agreed to let us shoot. Also, I highly recommend buying or bringing foam earplugs to wear along with the ear protection they give. I went once without the earplugs and was repeatedly startled and overwhelmed by some of the louder guns. Another cool feature is that you can choose the type of paper target you want. We went with an outline of a man that pointed out all the vital organs and brain regions (morbid I know) but you can choose from a zombie, some sort of rapist cutout holding a woman hostage (I'm assuming you're trying NOT to hit the woman) or a traditional bullseye. All in all, great fun. We paid $57.99 for the revolver, 3 paper targets and 50 rounds of ammo (the least amount you can buy) which also came with protective eyewear and headphone ear protection. There's also a great poster in the store making fun of Obama. An extra star just for that! read more
