Thought I'd check this place out with a buddy as I was just getting into 2A and firearms. Went in to ask about the FSC process and the owner was just unfriendly from the beginning. Really sarcastic with his answers as if I knew everything there was to know already. Shop was pretty dead and looked very unorganized. Owner told me I had to buy a firearm at his shop if I wanted him to administer the FSC. Looked at the prices and compared with other local spots to find he wasn't comparable. So I left and just went to Big 5 for my FSC, cheaper and quicker. Wish I hadn't wasted my time here in the first place. read more

The gun owner Brad, , upon going in to buy a handgun he showed me a month ago, claimed he knew who I was & in a paranoid way said I was buying a gun for a boyfriend & he wasn't going to sell to me. I told him INCORRECT, I'm a widow with NO BOYFRIEND (& none of your business anyway) & you're paranoid source is incorrect. He then said well it's for your neighbor then . I said NO. His source he said was an undercover person in the shop the 2 times I was in. Surprisingly possibly RACIST gun shop owner behavior while a "Don't tread on me" flag hung up front. I took my business elsewhere. Reminiscent of an Alex Jones-type. In his shop, the smelly cigars, yellowed teeth & poor open mouth chewing while eating lunch-I was willing b to tolerate for an item price Brad quoted for me that he did NOT HONOR. This is the place to go to buy a firearm in south OC. Lots of older style long guns and ammo you won't find anywhere else. Brad can also get you anything he doesn't have in stock. No taking a number and waiting in line here! Brad is very knowledgeable and a great guy, as long as you are respectful of our country and don't expect all the PC crap these soft people expect. I cant say enough good things about this shop. Over the years i made several purchases here. I know live in Cincinnati and miss the small time feel of the shop. Brad and his crew arent rude they are just to the point. If i ever needed anything i was told yes we can or no we cant and it was usually some california gun law that wouldnt allow a purchase. There is no rush when you get there and i thought it was great to be greeted once they knew me. Dont go in there expecting Bass pro shop feel which is part of the charm. read more

True gun enthusiasts love this place, the smell of cigars and the "watchdog" create a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Come in, sit down, wait your turn and relax. If you are a mangina, feel you are entitled to immediate service, wear an imaginary tiara, dislike frank conversation (the price of clarity is the risk of insult) and are generally more sensitive than a 4yr old...this ain't your gun shop. I walked in looking to purchase some ammo but was told they wouldn't sell it to me unless I had previously bought a gun from them.

I am very new to fire arms and don't know much. I called first and Brad was very patient and friendly. Didn't feel any judgement or frustration with me having odd questions on the phone and he spent 10 minutes talking with me, which I appreciated, no rush, no pressure. Went in person and again was treated friendly, good service, knowledgeable, easy going, was my experience . Seems very fair. I liked and appreciated the environment, more of a small town vibe than busy big city chain store which I appreciate. I would definitely recommend. read more

This place is not interested in making new customers at all. Arrived Monday afternoon at 12:09pm and immediately the man inside coldly says 'I'm closing!' thru the open door. Still standing outside, trying to salvage the trip down there, I ask if he has any holsters and he gruffly responds '...some.' Having been there only 20 seconds and shot down twice already, I asked nicely if he carried a used gun selection to which he replied '...not many.' THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE, STAY AWAY, DO NOT GIVE THIS MAN YOUR MONEY. IF I COULD GIVE A ZERO STAR I WOULD. ALSO I WOULD LIKE A FORMAL APOLOGY. I would like to personally thank Brad for allowing me to experience for the very first time what some folks would consider racial profiling. I went to the store and was not even greeted as this individual sat there eating his lunch, I patiently and respectfully waited while looking around the store and ultimately ended up standing right near him until he finished what he was doing. When he gave me a moment of his time, I could automatically feel that he had little interest in helping me, his questions were direct and to the point, what do you need? My response was that I am completely new and would like to understand the process around what required to purchase a firearm for home protection, his response was "we are extremely low on stock right now" eventhough I could see roughly 30 rifles and 10 handguns right in front of me all with for sale tags. I said ok well what do I need to do as I'm really excited about this and his response while staring into his computer was "well what type of trouble have you been in, I said excuse me trouble what do I look like a trouble maker" and he said yes you do and that's how you carry and present yourself. My response was I am a business man and hold a leadership position for a fortune 300 company and have never been in trouble. I was wearing a nike sweater a pair of jeans and a Chicago bulls hat so outside of my dress that leaves the color of my skin which I am Italian but many think I look Hispanic. Needless to say he didnt want to help me nor did I want to spend my money with him after he automatically assumed that I had legal convictions and that I brought trouble based on my dress and skin color. Thanks Brad for allowing me to spend $2k that same day at one of your competitors, my experience with your competitor was just like a normal retail experience. There is no room in 2020 for white men to behave this way and make assumptions based on how people look or what they wear. This is probably the reason that he store was dirty and sub par. Weapon and ammo's in coronavirus times. Brad sold me a brand new Glock 19 on August 8, 2020, and delivered after the 10 days standard waiting period, despite the coronavirus backlog. Both the weapon and the ammo's were at a competitive price. We had a great conversation about the political situation, and he gave me extra ammo's free of charge. There is no way I'm buying anything here, nor would I recommend anyone to. I first had contact with this place a few months ago. I distinctly recall talking to a bit of a cranky man. I didn't care too much, maybe he was having a bad day. No big deal. I recently called in again with a serious intent to buy something they confirmed to have in stock. I had a few questions, and despite having expressed a serious intent to come in and buy today, I just had a couple of questions, the man on the phone was a 100% asshole. A true gem. I was ready to spend over $1,000 here. Too bad for them that money will be happily directed into someone else's cash register. Based upon the other LEGIT reviews here and not counting the 5-star reviews from one-time yelp users, I presume that the Uncle Scrooge I spoke to was the owner. Unless, of course the disease has spread to the rest of his staff, or perhaps simply that birds of a same feather flock together. Gun shops in SoCal are a dime a dozen, there is no way I would do business for even $1 to this place if I am not treated with the least bit of common courtesy and basic respect. It is laughable that on top of the royal Douchebag that conducts business here, they tend to charge higher than their nearby competitors. Came here because it was close to home for a FFL transfer. First and last time. Never met the The owner before but he was rude and condescending from the jump. Apparently doesn't want any business and prefers to sit around with his buddies shooting the shit all day. First Told me the firearm I purchased was not legal in CA (he was wrong of course) When I stated it was on the DOJ's approved handgun list he didn't care. Made a bunch of snide remarks...(too many to list here) in a span of 3 minutes. i just walked out. Found someone else who was professional to do it. While some of you might not like the owner's style - I appreciate it! He's a very knowledgeable person and has been very helpful over the years in explaining things to me. I might ask some stupid questions, but he always gives me a very direct and concise answer - Never made me feel like I was stupid and said that I should have known the answer. I don't know what some of you expect as it relates to Customer Service, but he's always been great. Plus his prices seem to beat the other stores in the area. All I can say is "get over it." Go to Turner's or On-Target and wait for at least 1.5 hours to get a simple DROS transfer plus a higher price - not sure what you're getting for that? read more

I discovered this place last year, and even though it is not the closest or the cheapest place to my residence, it is however, my go to place for all my firearm needs, especially, when a knowledgeable gunsmith is needed. The owner Brad, is an old school kind of fellow. He takes his time to make sure all parts fit, and you get exactly what you need. Honest, and smart, you'll also learn a lot from him about history and the world as he is a well rounded individual aside from being a great gunsmith. This is an old school gun shop which in my opinion is great. The typical "hip" mega gun stores tend to be a bit condescending (think Starbucks but for guns instead of coffee) and you can spend hours waiting in lines which is why I do all of my transfers with Brad at SVGC. It's a small shop and feels a little bit like Cheers with some of the regulars who come to get coffee and a good conversation but you won't ever have to wait long to get help at reasonable rates. I have no complaints, this is my favorite shop by far (mainly because I hate waiting in lines). read more

He proceeds to tell me that he doesn't have it and Im stupid for asking because it's not on the California roster. Well buddy it's on your website and I don't live in California I would have bought it and had it sent to my local ffl out of California. I happen to love these guys, they're as nice to you as you are to them. Downside, small selection, but hey this isn't some downtown LA gun shop AND they can order most anything. UPSIDE, extremely knowledgeable, been around the area for years and they know most everyone and everything. Brad's a really cool guy and I usually end up chatting for awhile. Now Josh is about one of the best damn gunsmiths around these parts, he knows his sh*t and will tell you straight up what he thinks. I had been in the Saddleback Valley Gun Center store a few years back for a short walkthrough, and today I phoned to ask about their fees for ammunition deliveries. Some older sounding guy answers the phone without a "Hello" and loudly says "WE DON'T HAVE ANY 9MM AMMUNITION!" before I can even speak. I thought he may have been talking to a customer in the store as he picked up the phone, so I asked if he was talking to me. He loudly repeated "WE DON'T HAVE ANY 9MM AMMUNITION!" I said I didn't want any and asked my question about if they acted as an Ammunition Vendor for accepting ammunition deliveries from out of state. He said "We don't do that anymore. And besides, you don't sound like a guy who would pass the background check anyway!" I could not believe he just said that to a customer on the phone! I told him I had just purchased a rifle two weeks ago and had passed the background check, so it shouldn't be a problem. He asked where I got the rifle, and I told him the name of another dealer. Then he asked why I was calling HIM, and I said that because his store was closer to my home. He said "Then you should call them!" and hung up. This was, without a doubt, the rudest experience I have ever had with a sales person, ever. And from reading other reviews of this place, it sounds like my experience was not atypical. This guy should be put on meds before he hurts somebody. read more

Drove over there only to be told by some guy that his co-worker was wrong and they don't have it. He then proceeded to tell me to not waste my money and spend it on my family.
